Deliberate Possession [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 20
Chapter 20: Mianmian
Hearing her say that, Jiang Yumian’s heart leaped. Her face tensed up. She thought the matter had passed and wouldn’t be mentioned again, and she even thought she was overthinking it at the time. She never expected that there really was something going on!
She slowly shook her head, her neck stiff, not daring to speak. Mainly because Jing Xiaoyan’s expression was unusually serious, making it seem like she had done something wrong.
Seeing Jiang Yumian’s expression, Jing Xiaoyan’s heart sank. She indeed had a reaction, probably feeling awkward all along.
She pursed her lips and directly confessed: “I thought you didn’t care and had forgotten about it long ago. Turns out you still remember what I meant by holding your hand.”
Jiang Yumian wanted to give a polite smile, but she couldn’t. The way she said it, it seemed quite right for her to be dwelling on it.
Her throat tightened, “Well, I still care…”
She was very anxious inside. What exactly did Jing Xiaoyan want to say!
Jing Xiaoyan suddenly scoffed lightly, “What did you feel at the time?”
Without waiting for Jiang Yumian to speak, Jing Xiaoyan answered for her: “Was it incomprehensible but also very surprised, and then a hint of nervousness?”
Jiang Yumian quickly nodded, “Yes, yes, it was so inexplicable.”
Jing Xiaoyan suddenly laughed: “That’s how I felt when you held my hand today. I was shocked the whole way, so I thought I’d let you experience it.”
Jiang Yumian blinked. So this was her revenge!?
How childish!
Seeing Jiang Yumian’s look of sudden realization, Jing Xiaoyan’s heart finally settled. She let out a sigh of relief and suddenly felt a little smug. She was quite smart.
She pursed her lips and continued to mislead her, acting relaxed: “So, I didn’t actually not notice at the time. I was just afraid you’d be embarrassed, so I didn’t ask. If I had known that asking would make you fail the mission, I would have asked long ago. That’s why I couldn’t swallow it and played a prank on you. Who knew you could endure it so well? If I didn’t say it now, I feel like you were going to misunderstand me.”
Jiang Yumian bit her lip, looking up at Jing Xiaoyan’s expression. It was hard not to see her smugness. She blinked and finally couldn’t help but say, “Jing Xiaoyan, you are so childish.”
It seemed like she was quite bothered by the fact that she had been tricked. She held it in all this time and deliberately came to clarify to herself, clarifying that she didn’t not notice, but had noticed all along and just didn’t say anything.
This was like a student who wrote the answer roughly when the teacher asked a question, but didn’t speak up. Only after the answer was revealed did she find out she was right and couldn’t resist showing off.
The more Jiang Yumian thought about it, the more she felt that Jing Xiaoyan was childish. She had the face of an older sister, but her essence was actually a child.
The smile on Jing Xiaoyan’s face collapsed. How did she become childish again…?
Seeing her stop smiling instantly, Jiang Yumian couldn’t help but laugh. She cooperated with Jing Xiaoyan with a smile: “You’re amazing. You did scare me. I was still thinking, you know I have a girlfriend, yet you held my hand. It terrified me at the time.”
Afraid it wasn’t enough, Jiang Yumian repeated, “Mhm, it terrified me.”
After saying that, she secretly glanced at the person opposite her. Although it was a slight exaggeration, she should be satisfied now, right?
Jing Xiaoyan silently gave Chu Qianyuan a thumbs-up in her heart. She was right after all. It’s a good thing she was quick-witted.
However…
“How am I childish?” Jing Xiaoyan asked, puzzled.
Jiang Yumian opened her mouth, hesitated to speak, and wished she hadn’t said anything.
She thought for a moment and changed her wording, “No, I just think you’re quite cute.”
Another invisible arrow firmly struck Jing Xiaoyan’s heart. She became “cute” again. She would rather be called childish.
Jiang Yumian suddenly sighed.
“You just haven’t participated in a variety show before and are too naive. These tricks are very common. You’ll get used to them later. I’m telling you from experience, if something is abnormal, there must be a reason. If you feel something is off, you have to trust your intuition.”
Jiang Yumian couldn’t help but want to laugh. Why was Jing Xiaoyan reacting so strongly to being tricked once? She was so naive. It would be hard to trick her again during missions in the future.
The third arrow pierced her. Jing Xiaoyan felt suffocated. Naive, cute, childish, adorable. These words that had never been associated with her were all used by Jiang Yumian in just a few days.
She didn’t want to chat with Jiang Yumian anymore. She felt like she would be riddled with arrows.
Jing Xiaoyan was so angry that her voice trembled: “I’m going to take a shower. You, you…”
“What about me?”
Jiang Yumian blinked innocently. How could she be unhappy when she was saying something heartfelt?
Jing Xiaoyan took a deep breath, still unable to hold back: “I think you have a big misunderstanding about me. The words ‘cute’ and ‘naive’ don’t suit me.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yumian wanted to laugh even more. So her focus was on that?
She thought her words made Jing Xiaoyan feel looked down upon.
Alas… she was having trouble keeping up with Jing Xiaoyan’s thought process.
“You really care about your image.” Jiang Yumian smiled at Jing Xiaoyan. “But you can’t have too much of an idol burden in a variety show, oh. If you’re cute, you’re cute. Fans will love it.”
Jing Xiaoyan looked up. Her eyes instantly became deep and cold. Her gaze toward Jiang Yumian was sharp as a knife.
Meeting that look, a sense of oppression rushed over. Jiang Yumian’s heart jumped.
“How about now?” Jing Xiaoyan’s tone was icy.
Jiang Yumian opened her mouth, “What?”
Jing Xiaoyan’s shoulders relaxed, and her intimidating aura instantly disappeared. Her state returned to normal.
She couldn’t help but push Jiang Yumian’s forehead with her hand: “I’m asking if I’m still cute.”
Why was Jiang Yumian so silly?
Jiang Yumian licked her lips. Cute my foot. She was clearly terrifying…
Why did she suddenly start acting with her? Seriously…
Jiang Yumian touched her forehead, feeling more and more that Jing Xiaoyan was childish. She actually tried to scare her just to prove she wasn’t cute, making people so nervous.
She muttered quietly, “Please don’t perform randomly. You’re scaring people.”
Jing Xiaoyan had already turned her back to look for pajamas. Hearing her words, she only smiled, because she had done it on purpose.
Jiang Yumian looked at her thoughtfully, and couldn’t help but compliment Jing Xiaoyan’s back: “Teacher Jing, your acting is so good. Can you practice with me sometime? Are you filming any movies recently?”
Jing Xiaoyan turned around to look at her, joking as if chatting: “Hmm? Now you’re calling me Teacher Jing?”
Thinking of the message that had replied to her, Jiang Yumian’s eyes darted around, and she quickly shamelessly flattered her: “Good older sister, practice with me, please.”
Her wealthy older sister had replied to her, saying that considering Jing Xiaoyan’s voice was the same as hers and she looked good, she reluctantly didn’t mind being called “older sister.” However, she didn’t like the hand-holding part and wouldn’t allow her to hold hands with anyone else. It was a little domineering, but normal.
Jing Xiaoyan walked toward the bathroom, her voice carrying a smile: “I’ll talk to you after I shower.”
When Jing Xiaoyan came out after her shower, she was bewildered by the line Jiang Yumian wanted her to practice with her.
After a moment of silent confrontation, Jing Xiaoyan swallowed and realized she wasn’t joking before asking, “Are you sure it’s just this one line?”
Jiang Yumian nodded: “Yes, just this one line. I haven’t filmed a romance movie before and can’t grasp the emotion well. Older sister, can you teach me?”
Jing Xiaoyan tilted her head. Didn’t Mianmian say she was going back to the company and leaving the entertainment industry?
What was she filming?
Jing Xiaoyan pursed her lips, looking very hesitant.
Jiang Yumian looked at her eagerly. She suddenly thought of the movies Jing Xiaoyan had filmed. Although some were romance, she seemed to have only been a supporting role. Did she lack experience? That shouldn’t be the case. Her acting was so good. A short confession scene should be easy for her.
Jing Xiaoyan pondered for a long time. No matter what she intended, she accepted. She moved her lips: “Just ‘I like you,’ and I can improvise the rest, right?”
Hearing her say that, Jiang Yumian’s eyes lit up, and she quickly nodded, afraid she would go back on her word.
“Can I record a video?” Jiang Yumian was a little guilty. “I want to watch it later when I’m filming to recall it.”
She had never been so studious. She just wanted her mom to hear it. Since the ‘older sister’ wasn’t willing, she would ask the person herself to say it. Hehe…
Seeing that she had already opened her phone, Jing Xiaoyan felt it was inappropriate to say no. There were so many classic scenes online for her to learn from. Why did she need to watch this one?
Jing Xiaoyan averted her gaze, nodded, and decided not to expose her.
“I’ll improvise. I’ll apologize first if there’s anything offensive.” Jing Xiaoyan swallowed lightly, her eyes fixed directly on Jiang Yumian’s face. Although she didn’t know what she was trying to do, it would definitely be useful.
What she was about to do was nothing more than a mutually beneficial exchange. She gained an opportunity to confess.
Jiang Yumian nodded openly: “Be yourself. Don’t restrain yourself. I trust your acting.”
Jing Xiaoyan awkwardly tugged at her collar. Why did it feel like Jiang Yumian was the one being inappropriate now?
She looked at Jiang Yumian with some uncertainty, testing her: “Confession scenes can be a bit ambiguous. Are you sure you can handle it?”
Jiang Yumian nodded. The more ambiguous, the better. She thought that after Madam Jiang watched Jing Xiaoyan’s confession video, she would likely accept it. After all, her mother really liked Jing Xiaoyan.
She lowered her head, silently sighing in her heart. She felt that her mom would probably like Jing Xiaoyan more than her.
With Jing Xiaoyan like this, her mom probably wouldn’t reject her.
“Mianmian.”
Startled by the sudden call, Jiang Yumian turned her head and found that Jing Xiaoyan was already sitting next to her.
“Hmm?”
Jing Xiaoyan smiled, tapping her finger on the bedspread. She turned her head to look at Jiang Yumian, her eyes smiling: “I actually joined this variety show quite late.”
Jiang Yumian didn’t know why she suddenly said this, but she still cooperated with a nod.
“I remember Mumu saying you haven’t filmed a variety show before.”
Jing Xiaoyan smiled: “Mhm, because there was no need.”
Jiang Yumian pondered: “That’s true. But why did you suddenly join?”
Jing Xiaoyan’s smiling eyes blinked, and her gaze became much more serious, staring straight into Jiang Yumian’s eyes: “Because the girl I fell in love with a year ago is here.”
Unlike her usual calmness, her light tone was clearly unsteady and trembling.
Jiang Yumian was stunned. It wasn’t until Jing Xiaoyan leaned closer to her that she snapped back to reality. Was this… starting now?
Jing Xiaoyan bit her tongue. This impromptu confession was something she had rehearsed countless times in her heart. But when it came to this moment, she still couldn’t control her nervousness.
“Mianmian.”
Such a simple name, but now, falling into Jiang Yumian’s ears, it carried an indescribable, burning affection.
The delicate face magnified in front of her, bringing with it her soft scent. Jiang Yumian subconsciously held her breath, and her heart pounded uncontrollably.
Jing Xiaoyan’s eyes were filled with an unnamable love. Jiang Yumian only took one look before immediately looking away.
At a distance where their noses were almost touching, Jiang Yumian didn’t move. Jing Xiaoyan’s gaze lingered on her lips for two seconds, then she moved her lips, and a light kiss landed on her cheek.
“Mianmian, I like you. It’s real.”
Jiang Yumian turned her head, letting out a long breath, and gently pushed the person who was half-embracing her: “Your acting is so good.”
It was just like the real thing. She was impressed. The Movie Queen’s skills were too strong.
Jing Xiaoyan pursed her lips: “I’m sorry.”
Jiang Yumian was momentarily confused, touching her face: “Ah, it’s okay. It was very impressive. You acted very well.”
Jing Xiaoyan looked up, her gaze even hotter than before: “I’m not acting. I like you. It’s real.”
