Deliberate Possession [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 105
Chapter 105: What Are You Afraid Of?
Su Yao was led into the room by Jing Xiaoyan. Luo Cheng went back to her room to get ready. They didn’t have much time before filming was scheduled to start.
Jing Xiaoyan asked, “Did you bring a pen? Where do you want the autograph?”
Su Yao glanced towards the bathroom, wondering why Jiang Yumian hadn’t come out yet. She quickly looked back, pointing at her small suitcase, a little embarrassed.
“They’re all in here. It’s quite a lot. I’ll take them out first.”
Jing Xiaoyan blinked. How much is “quite a lot”?
Under her gaze, Su Yao bent down, tilted the suitcase open. Half the case was filled with postcards, and it seemed like there were posters and photos underneath.
Jing Xiaoyan was stunned. The bundles of postcards were tied together with rubber bands. There must be hundreds of them, right?
“Did you come to stock up?”
Jiang Yumian’s voice came from above. Su Yao chuckled awkwardly.
“Sister Mianmian, my friends asked for them. Three hundred in total.”
Jiang Yumian sat down next to Jing Xiaoyan, gesturing to the small suitcase with her chin. “Oh wow, all three hundred of your friends are her fans, huh? But she doesn’t have time to sign for you right now. Why don’t you leave them here? We’ll give them to you after they’re signed.”
Jing Xiaoyan smiled slightly, sitting quietly beside Jiang Yumian, agreeing with her words, and nodding.
Su Yao hadn’t forgotten the group members’ instructions. She bit her lip, her eyes weakly glancing at Jiang Yumian’s face. “Sister Mianmian, you have to sign too. I didn’t make it clear at the time. It has to be both of your autographs.”
She pouted. How could they forget? She was a CP fan. If she only wanted a solo autograph, she would have gotten it long ago with her connections.
Hearing Su Yao say this, the smile on Jing Xiaoyan’s face deepened a little. She spoke in an especially gentle tone. “Of course. Your friends are all fans of both our CP, right? We’ll give them to you after Mianmian and I finish signing.”
Su Yao’s eyes widened, her expression shifting from shock to excitement. Jing Xiaoyan is so generous and talks so nicely! The group members were right. She’s indeed the gentle older sister (uke). She didn’t side with the wrong person!
Jiang Yumian’s mouth twitched. Jing Xiaoyan was starting to put on an act in front of people, looking proper and decent. She hadn’t even spoken yet, and Jing Xiaoyan had already agreed for her. Impressive.
She bent down and took a bundle of postcards from the suitcase, pulling out a few to look at. Most of them were shots from their variety show. They were quite beautiful, and even the photo from the red carpet was there.
She took out another bundle. When she took it, a hint of embarrassment crossed Su Yao’s face. Inside were many Q-version drawings of Jiang Yumian and Jing Xiaoyan. They were either holding hands, hugging, or snuggling. There was also one, a very unique one, of them kissing.
Jiang Yumian didn’t dare to look further. If this continued, would there be artists drawing spicy pictures of them too?
Su Yao saw the kissing picture in her hand and coughed abruptly. “That’s, um, an accident. I accidentally put it in there. Oh dear, I’m so clumsy.”
She shook her head as she spoke, not daring to look at Jiang Yumian or Jing Xiaoyan. This one was for herself. She deliberately snuck it in.
Jiang Yumian gave her a Do-I-look-like-I-believe-you look, staring at her for a few seconds. Before she could say anything, the postcard in her hand was taken by Jing Xiaoyan.
“So pretty.”
Jing Xiaoyan held it in her hand and looked at it for a long time. She had seen fans draw pictures of them both when she browsed the fan community, but she hadn’t checked recently and hadn’t seen this one.
She held it lovingly in her hand, feeling a bit regretful. Why did Su Yao only bring one? She would go to the fan community later to see if she could find the original image.
Always paying attention to Jing Xiaoyan’s state, Jiang Yumian snorted inwardly, placed the postcards in her hand on the table, and took the one from Jing Xiaoyan’s hand.
She shook the postcard in her hand at Su Yao, saying calmly, “I can sign all the others for you, but not this one. The intent is too obvious.”
Su Yao was a little disappointed. The light in her eyes faded, but she also understood. She opened her mouth. “Alright then, give it to me. I’ll put it back. You can keep the others here and sign them slowly.”
Jiang Yumian pulled her hand back. “No. I can’t let you take this and do mischief with it. I’m confiscating this one.”
Su Yao: “…”
The smile wouldn’t disappear because it had transferred to Jing Xiaoyan’s face. She happily took the postcard Jiang Yumian handed her, quickly tucked it into her pocket, unable to suppress the smile at the corners of her mouth.
She looked at Su Yao and comforted her softly. “Mianmian is right. We’ll keep this one.”
Su Yao quickly came to a realization, waving her hand, and generously said, “It’s okay. I have a few posters here too.”
These were also hers, hehe. As a big fan, it wasn’t too much for her to ask for more.
Jing Xiaoyan quickly nodded. “Good, leave them all. We’ll sign them for you.”
Having completed a major task, Su Yao, who was squatting on the ground, breathed a sigh of relief. She rummaged through her suitcase again. “Um, I also have two short plush dog scarves. They were custom-made by fans. It’s cold now, so you should take them…”
She blinked hard at Jiang Yumian. “Sister Mianmian~”
Meeting her ingratiating gaze, Jiang Yumian was a little helpless. She didn’t know when Su Yao became her CP fan, and she hadn’t seen her contact her before.
Jing Xiaoyan cleared her throat and answered for Jiang Yumian. “That’s fine.”
Since there was one for her too, her agreeing was perfectly reasonable.
Jiang Yumian didn’t contradict her, nodding along. Afraid that Su Yao would bring up something else, she directly asked, “Anything else?”
The implication was clear. She was being politely dismissed. If there was nothing else, she should leave.
Su Yao shook her head. “That’s all!”
Jiang Yumian nodded and asked, “Did you book a room? Are you staying alone?”
Su Yao waved her hand, taking out the postcards and posters from the suitcase as she answered. “I’m not staying alone. I’m with my mentor!”
“Mentor? What mentor?” Jiang Yumian frowned slightly. She hadn’t heard of Su Yao taking a mentor.
Jing Xiaoyan knew about this. “Oh, it’s Leyi. She arrived half an hour earlier than me and is at the hotel.”
Su Yao pulled up her suitcase, nodding vigorously. “Yes! She’s my mentor! I’ll go now. I’m afraid of running into my sister later.”
Seeing her about to leave with her suitcase, Jiang Yumian wanted to stop her. She hadn’t shown her the leave of absence form yet. But she paused, thinking forget it, since she’s already here, why bother?
She sighed softly. “Go.”
After Su Yao left, Jing Xiaoyan immediately hugged Jiang Yumian again, leaning on her shoulder bonelessly. Jiang Yumian turned her head to look at her. “Why do you have two faces, one for in public and one for private?”
She was so normal in front of outsiders.
Jing Xiaoyan shook her head. “No, I’ve always been like this.”
Jiang Yumian slapped away the hand hugging her. “Putting on an act.”
Jing Xiaoyan raised an eyebrow. “I’m only like this in front of you. In front of outsiders, I still have to save you some face.”
Jiang Yumian’s mouth twitched. So she knew that this behavior was embarrassing for her, huh…
Older sister (seme) in public, childish ghost in private.
Jing Xiaoyan looked at the postcards on the table and quickly changed the subject. “Why didn’t she ask if we were really dating?”
Jiang Yumian thought for two seconds and quickly revealed the truth. “Because she doesn’t want to be hit by reality.”
She added an explanation. “Her imagined reality.”
She guessed Su Yao probably thought they weren’t together and didn’t want to hear the cruel “reality” from them.
Jing Xiaoyan understood. She nodded, picked up the scarves on the table, opened them and looked at them. One was white, and one was coffee-colored, both in the style of a small dog.
She put one around her neck. “They’re really nice. So cute. I’ll wear the coffee-colored one today. It matches the color of my outfit. You wear the white one.”
Jiang Yumian snorted haughtily. “I didn’t say I would wear it with you.”
Jing Xiaoyan turned her head to look at her, then quickly looked down again, continuing to adjust her scarf, not at all worried that Jiang Yumian wouldn’t wear it.
The ignored Jiang Yumian: “…”
Jing Xiaoyan was in a good mood. She picked up the other scarf. While Jiang Yumian was sitting next to her, she directly put it on her, pulling out her hair and tidying it up.
“It looks great. With this, we don’t have to worry about hickeys anymore.”
Jiang Yumian slapped her hand away. “That’s all you think about.”
Jing Xiaoyan smiled. “Let’s continue tonight when we get back. To make you forgive me, I will definitely work hard.”
Jiang Yumian scoffed inwardly, but wore a faint smile on her face. She ground her teeth, then quickly smiled. “Alright. Then you have to satisfy any request I make. Otherwise…”
Jing Xiaoyan answered readily. “No problem!”
She smiled, hugged Jiang Yumian, and kissed her again. Mianmian is so easy to coax.
Jiang Yumian’s body softened, leaning weakly into Jing Xiaoyan’s arms. She didn’t plan to be too demanding now. It was tiring, but she also wouldn’t joke around with Jing Xiaoyan because she needed to show her attitude. She hadn’t forgiven Jing Xiaoyan yet.
“Those are the wedding candies Mumu and Sister Qianyuan gave.” Jiang Yumian pointed to the two boxes of candy on the table, only just remembering to tell Jing Xiaoyan.
Jing Xiaoyan glanced at them. The wedding candy boxes were exquisitely made, likely custom-made. She already knew. Chu Qianyuan had boasted to her about them before. She had seen them when she walked in.
She tightened the hand hugging Jiang Yumian. “Do you want to eat them?”
She added, “We can have our own too.”
Pretending not to understand Jing Xiaoyan’s implication, Jiang Yumian got out of her arms, reached for the wedding candy box, and answered her question. “I want to eat them. I can get them myself.”
Jing Xiaoyan’s gaze lingered on her hand. She wanted to say something but held back. Finally, she closed her mouth, not stressing that she wanted to set a wedding date with Jiang Yumian right now. She felt it would be a bit too casual. Anyway, Jiang Yumian understood what she meant.
They put on their jackets and left the room together. The staff were already waiting outside. Jiang Yumian tugged at the scarf around her neck. She wasn’t used to wearing one.
Seeing her action, Jing Xiaoyan leaned closer and asked, “Will it be too obvious for the two of us to wear this while filming the show?”
Jiang Yumian reached out and slapped her back through her cotton coat. “Isn’t it a little late to ask now?”
Didn’t she insist on her wearing it out?
Why is she pretending now…
Jing Xiaoyan smiled. “I did it on purpose.”
Jiang Yumian chuckled softly, bumping her with her elbow.
“Oh, so you two have made up already?” Lin Xi appeared from nowhere, holding several microphones. After teasing them, she said, “Take the mics and put them on.”
Jing Xiaoyan took all the mics, avoiding Jiang Yumian’s hand. “I’ll do it.”
Jiang Yumian put her hands back in her pockets, watching her put the mic on her and tidy her clothes. It was quite nice not having to do it herself.
Lin Xi looked at their interaction, somewhat puzzled. Jiang Yumian wasn’t avoiding Jing Xiaoyan anymore, occasionally flirting with her. How did she feel like these two were already dating?
Instead of asking them directly, she ran to find Chu Qianyuan and Su Mumu to gossip together.
Chu Qianyuan looked at her, mysteriously wagging her finger. “Your information is too outdated.”
Lin Xi widened her eyes, asking softly, “Are they really together?”
Luo Cheng was standing nearby. She also leaned in and asked, “Who with who?”
After asking, she followed Lin Xi’s gaze, looking shocked, covering her mouth in surprise. “Those two!?”
“Really!?”
She felt something was off when they came out. Su Yao had told her that the scarves around their necks were given to them by their CP fans. She just didn’t expect them to wear them out. But thinking about it, it wasn’t a big deal. These two were always very bold.
Su Mumu made a shushing gesture to Luo Cheng, raising an eyebrow to remind her. “We should keep it to ourselves.”
Jing Xiaoyan had said Jiang Yumian was still pursuing her. Who would believe that?
Her having the confidence to say that didn’t it prove they were already together? So, she and Chu Qianyuan had already guessed it, not to mention Jiang Yumian even talked about marrying Jing Xiaoyan today.
Luo Cheng’s hand stayed over her mouth. Oh my god! Su Yao actually found a real CP! She had been filming with them for so long and hadn’t noticed, only daring to secretly ship them.
Jiang Yumian turned her head to look at them. “What are you guys huddled together for? Talking badly about me?”
Jing Xiaoyan followed her gaze, but quickly looked away because she noticed many fans not far away. However, they were blocked by security and couldn’t come closer. They were waving towards her.
Seeing a few familiar figures, who seemed to be her fan site photographers, why did they come?
Jiang Yumian was pulled by her to walk over. She was a little confused at first, but when she saw her own familiar big fans and Su Mumu’s, she was also surprised. They hadn’t come to the previous filming sessions because the itinerary was unclear. It was a bit unexpected that they were here this time.
The gossiping people behind her also followed. They didn’t get too close, just waved and greeted them from afar.
Jing Xiaoyan was puzzled. “Why is it so lively this time?”
Her fan site photographers had complained to her team before that they couldn’t keep up with Jing Xiaoyan’s schedule, but since Jing Xiaoyan didn’t know her own itinerary either, there was nothing they could do.
Chu Qianyuan pulled her jacket tighter, explaining, “The filming location was announced this time, so it’s not surprising that the fan site photographers got the information.”
Jiang Yumian looked at the swarms of fans. “It’s really hard for them. It’s so cold today. I should get them some hot drinks.”
Jiang Yumian took out her phone, then looked at the cameras in her fans’ hands. Only then did she notice that they had brought their equipment. She couldn’t help but gasp.
Their pictures were always so clear. This time, she and Jing Xiaoyan were wearing couple scarves, especially since they were given by CP fans, and their clothes were matching. If they didn’t hide and post spoiler photos, she and Jing Xiaoyan would probably trend again.
Su Mumu waved at them and then said to the people around her, “Let’s go. The staff are urging us.”
Jing Xiaoyan nodded, giving the fans a peace sign. It was the first time she had seen her familiar fans while filming a variety show, and she was a little excited.
Hearing the sudden surge in fan cheers, Jiang Yumian quickly pulled her around and walked away. “Stop giving peace signs. There are probably proxy photographers too. Hurry up and go.”
If they kept showing off, they would really be close to trending. Although she couldn’t hear what they were shouting, her heart sank. There were probably many CP fans here.
Jing Xiaoyan was reluctantly pulled away by her. “What are you afraid of?”
The others haven’t left yet.
Jiang Yumian stopped and looked at her, saying seriously, “I’m afraid you’ll go crazy.”
