Dating My Drama Queen Girlfriend On A Slow-Paced Variety Show - Chapter 43
Miss Luo Mingzi, who had claimed to be utterly exhausted from exerting so much effort in the valley, was no sooner set on the ground than she spread her arms wide and performed a light, airy pirouette. Her pink jacket fluttered around her.
“How spooky,” Wu Xuezhen remarked ruthlessly. “The lighting is terrible at night, and Mingzi is so thin, it’s like a ghost floating by.”
Pi Dajun asked with a beaming smile, “Is our girl opening up a new career path? Switching to horror films?”
Li Yue propped herself up with one arm and vaulted gracefully from the truck with her long legs. She turned to fold the blanket covering the quilt, choosing not to participate in the planning of Teacher Luo’s future career.
However, Teacher Luo was very keen on inviting Teacher Li to join the discussion of her life’s trajectory. She drifted eerily to the courtyard gate and then drifted back, standing behind Li Yue and murmuring ghost-like, “Did I not dance beautifully?”
Li Yue’s body stiffened, her hair standing on end. She felt the weight of a girlfriend’s ultimate test!
She relaxed naturally, gathered the blanket, and turned around calmly. “I was in a hurry to get off the truck and didn’t see. Why don’t you dance again for me?”
Luo Mingzi gave Li Yue a scrutinizing look, then performed a beautiful spin and leap without closing her eyes under the lights specifically set up by the production crew.
Li Yue said sincerely, “It was exceptionally beautiful. Just as beautiful as you used to dance!”
Judging by that, had Luo Mingzi danced for Li Yue before?
The Pi-Wu couple wasn’t surprised by the familiarity, but they were curious about one thing. “Mingzi, I thought you only knew how to play piano and paint? I never heard you mention you could dance.”
Luo Mingzi puffed out her chest. Seeing her proud little expression, Li Yue curled her lips into a smile. She handed the blanket to Luo, placed the keys from her pocket on top of it, and sent her off to open the door. Li Yue explained on her behalf, “She studied ballet for a while when she was a child. Later, she found out that long-term ballet makes your feet deform, so she didn’t want to learn anymore. After that, she did ballroom for a bit, but she isn’t as proficient in it as her other skills.”
Hence, the proud Teacher Luo didn’t like to mention it. After all, she had only scratched the surface and wasn’t “excellent” at it.
Pi Dajun laughed. “I thought so! The first time I saw our girl, I thought she had great poise. So she was a dancer! Dancers have such upright posture, lovely!” As he spoke, he looked at Wu Xuezhen.
Wu Xuezhen covered her smile shyly. She had been a drama major in college, but besides the theater club, she had joined the dance club and had never let it drop over the years. She was famous in the industry for her love of dance and her skill.
Li Yue smiled without a word and went to find Luo Mingzi with the quilt in her arms.
The guests jumping off the tricycle continued to chat about dancing as they followed.
The moment they stepped into the small courtyard, the noise outside seemed blocked by the walls, suddenly becoming a distant clamor. Li Yue changed into slippers and began stripping the duvet cover as she walked toward the living room. By the time she reached the sofa, the quilt insert and the cover were already separated. The cameraman behind her was so amazed he kept filming her hands.
Amused, Li Yue stretched her hand out under the lens, opening and closing it.
See? Just five fingers. Nothing extra.
The cameraman whispered, “Teacher Li’s hands look like an artist’s. You’re so efficient at everything, not even mentioning washing, chopping, and cooking, but even stripping a quilt is so smooth. You must be great at ‘untying’ other things too!”
Her voice was full of sincere, innocent praise.
Teacher Li, however, went silent. Her hand folding the quilt paused, and she suddenly turned her head away.
“Report! I caught Li Yue secret-smiling!” A crisp voice came from the second floor. Li Yue looked up to see Luo Mingzi raising a slender arm, her eyes reflecting the lamplight, bright and beautiful.
“I didn’t,” Li Yue said. She placed the folded quilt on the sofa and told the staff to inform the other guests not to touch it, she would air it out in the sun tomorrow before putting it away. She headed upstairs carrying the floral duvet cover.
Once upstairs, Luo Mingzi leaned against the side with her arms crossed, wearing a face that said “Confess now.”
Li Yue glanced at her, cleared her throat, and said, “Everyone is exchanging dance tips. Isn’t Teacher Luo going?”
Teacher Luo didn’t want to go. She believed her prowess in dance was about as shallow as her acting skills, there was no need to show off her meager skills in front of experts. Sticking to Teacher Li was the priority right now.
At this thought, her crossed arms slowly dropped. She glanced at the camera following Li Yue, the cameraman gave an “OK” sign and headed straight downstairs.
Li Yue walked forward slowly. From the corner of her eye, she saw the cameraman eager to clock out. Just as her lips began to curl up, a soft arm reached out from under hers, hugging her arm. A chin pressed down onto her shoulder.
Luo Mingzi knew full well she had an excessively beautiful face, and she knew Li Yue had a habit of making eye contact when speaking. The moment Li Yue looked down, Luo immediately pulled up the corners of her mouth and lowered her eyelids, putting on an innocent, pitiful expression. She asked softly, “Li Yue, you were clearly secret-smiling just now. Why won’t you tell me what’s so funny?”
“We have secrets between us now…”
“Hmph.”
As she spoke, she reached out and plucked at the duvet cover in Li Yue’s arms.
Dirty thing, get out of Li Yue’s arms this instant!
Li Yue’s gaze dropped. She watched as Teacher Luo, in her relentless pursuit of the “murdered” duvet cover, stepped right onto it. Her foot slipped. With an “Ouch,” she tumbled to the floor, smothered head to toe by the remaining fabric.
“Haha.” Li Yue bent over, grabbing Luo Mingzi’s only visible thin wrist. She sighed softly and shook the wrist which was as delicate as a reed asking curiously, “Is this what the dictionary defines as ‘evil-doing leads to self-destruction’?”
The person inside the cover let out a loud huff and struggled to pull it off. With messy hair, she said irritably, “It’s also called ‘instant karma’.”
Li Yue stood corrected.
Behind them, Wu Xuezhen came up to the second floor to grab something. She took one look, saw that Luo Mingzi was fine, and said kindly, “Haven’t gone to shower yet? Still here fighting with a quilt?”
Li Yue smiled and said, “We’re going now.”
“Get up,” Li Yue pulled Luo Mingzi to her feet and said unhurriedly, “You can’t win against it.”
Luo Mingzi took a deep breath, bundled up the dirty duvet cover, and walked into the second floor laundry room with a look of heroic sacrifice. She opened the washing machine and ruthlessly threw the cover inside.
With a “bang,” the machine door was slammed shut.
“Detergent first,” Li Yue mimicked Luo Mingzi’s earlier posture, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed. Watching her seemingly fluid movements, she directed, “The blue bottle on the left is the new detergent from yesterday. The pink one next to it is the softener.”
“Got it!” Luo Mingzi rolled up her sleeves, hoisting the two bottles to deliver the final blow to the duvet cover inside the machine.
Once the machine started spinning, Li Yue lightly clapped twice. “Impressive. You even know how to use a washing machine.”
The way she said it… it’s not like she was that domestically challenged!
Luo Mingzi puffed out her cheeks and slowly shuffled over to hang onto Li Yue. She whispered, “Now, are you going to tell me what you were laughing at earlier?”
Li Yue chuckled and poked her forehead. Her gaze swept over Min Xueren, who was walking toward the east side of the second floor. Without changing her expression, she looked down and remained stuck to Luo Mingzi like two pieces of sticky rice cake, turning toward Luo’s room.
“I’ll tell you while we shower…”
Luo Mingzi immediately remembered the “important business.” Her eyes lit up, and she nodded frantically.
Showering is good, showering is great! The best thing about showering is that you can shower!
Min Xueren glanced at their retreating backs, pouted, and went into the guest room to find clothes. She had ultimately chosen the east guest room, though her mindset was different from this morning. She had originally picked this room to get closer to Li Yue and Luo Mingzi in her free time, but under the current circumstances, she could forget about that.
When Min Xueren came out with clean clothes to go to the public bathroom on the second floor, she saw You Shiyi running up, sweating and bouncing. The other guests downstairs told her to slow down.
“I’m fine…oh, Xueren, are you feeling better?” You Shiyi asked with a smile.
Min Xueren smiled back and said, “Still feeling a bit unwell.”
“Then you should rest early. Let me know if you need any help,” You Shiyi said caringly.
Min Xueren’s eyes darted around. “Really… thank you. Could you help me pour a glass of water later? I need to take medicine and forgot to bring water.”
You Shiyi instinctively looked at the water glasses on the living room table downstairs and nodded. “Sure.”
Min Xueren smiled with satisfaction.
In the bedroom with the little dog nameplate, Luo Mingzi carefully checked for cameras before taking two sets of clothes from the wardrobe to the bathroom. Upon entering, she found Li Yue leaning against the sink, playing with her phone.
The bathroom light was bright, hitting her black hair and reflecting a glazed sheen. Despite running around the late-summer countryside for days, her skin was still fair. Her fingers holding the phone were long, and her pink fingertips caught a glint of clear light.
Li Yue said goodbye to the others in the group chat and looked up at Luo Mingzi, who was standing at the door. Luo Mingzi was all smiles, holding up the clothes for Li Yue to see. “I also bought these two nightgowns. You’ll definitely look good in them!”
“Mm.” Li Yue stood up, letting Luo Mingzi hold the clothes against her body. Her palm rested on Luo’s head, sliding down her hair, past her neck, and continuing its journey. As Luo Mingzi hummed and leaned into her embrace, Li Yue asked with a voice full of mirth, “Bought them in Shangjing? I saw people online caught photos of you and Sister Xuezhen shopping together.”
Luo Mingzi tilted her head back, pressing against Li Yue’s mouth, kissing her intermittently. She whispered, “…It was just eating and shopping with the other teachers after class. They even film that? Hmph, I’m going to Shangjing with Sister Xuezhen again tomorrow night. Are you coming?”
She asked, but didn’t give Li Yue a chance to speak. She bit down on Li Yue’s labret and kissed her hard. The kiss quickly deepened. Li Yue’s hand slid along the line of Luo Mingzi’s spine, her fingers easily prying open the hem of her shirt, moving slowly upward against warm, trembling skin.
The two retreated while kissing until they hit the bathroom wall. Finally willing to separate, Luo Mingzi’s lips were red. She bit the tip of her tongue and rubbed against Li Yue.
Li Yue blinked softly. With a flick of her arm, she hooked the shower handle. Water cascaded down, the sound of splashing filling the bathroom, drenching the two people who were still fully clothed.
“Mmh.” Luo Mingzi’s face flushed. She reached back to touch the undone ties behind her and whispered, “When did you undo them?”
Even the ones inside…
“I’m going to undo yours too.” As she spoke, her restless hands moved forward.
Li Yue arched an eyebrow and caught her wrists. Pressing a curved smile against the inside of her wrist, she laughed softly and asked, “Did I not undo them well enough?”
