- Damn It! After Transmigrating into the Book, His Highness Is Teased to Tears Everyday
- Chapter 5 - Is Bullying Me Fun?
Mo Yuan led Shi Yu into the library, where the scent of aged paper greeted them immediately. The wooden bookshelves emanated a faint fragrance, and the books shimmered with a mysterious glow in the dim light.
“All of the sect’s arts and scriptures are kept here. A-Yu, you must finish learning these basics first.”
Mo Yuan tapped his toes lightly on the floor, leaping into the air. He pulled books from the rows of shelves and, with a casual wave of his hand, landed them steadily on the desk beside Shi Yu.
Shi Yu looked at the stack of books growing ever higher, his eyes twitching. “Are you sure these are the books you finished in two years?”
Mo Yuan leaped down from the air, stood in front of Shi Yu, and smiled with curved eyes. “How can you underestimate me, A-Yu? Your Senior Brother is quite brilliant.”
Shi Yu looked at the spirited youth before him, whose expression was arrogant and unbridled. He did not doubt him further and reached out to pick up the books to leave. Mo Yuan blocked him with a gesture, snapped his fingers, and the books turned into specks of light that tucked themselves into Mo Yuan’s sleeve.
“A-Yu will be able to do this too in the future.”
Shi Yu looked at Mo Yuan’s smug expression and turned his head away, unwilling to engage with him.
For the past two days, Shi Yu had been confined to his room by Mo Yuan to study, under the guise of building a solid foundation. However, watching Mo Yuan’s daily smiles, which were brightly eerie, Shi Yu always felt that something was amiss. Mo Yuan sat to the side, bored, spinning a teacup in his hand and occasionally calling out to remind the distracted Shi Yu.
Shi Yu looked at the towering pile of books in front of him, feeling quite irritated. Reading was truly the most troublesome thing.
“A-Yu, you must focus. There are punishments for being disobedient.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Yu raised his eyes calmly and intended to continue reading. Just then, a knock sounded at the door. “Is Senior Brother Shi Yu inside?”
It was Fu Zhu. Why had he come?
Shi Yu opened the door and saw Fu Zhu standing there with a gentle smile. His attitude seemed much better than it had been previously. Fu Zhu handed over what he was holding. “Senior Brother Shi Yu, Zemian Zun forgot to give you this art scripture a few days ago, so he specifically asked me to deliver it today.”
Shi Yu accepted the thin book. His ink-colored eyes turned cold, and he shot a glare at Mo Yuan. Fu Zhu naturally noticed Shi Yu’s gaze, shot a gloating glance at Mo Yuan, and left after offering a formal salute.
“This is what Master wanted me to study, so what are those?”
As soon as he closed the door, Shi Yu began to settle the score with Mo Yuan, pointing at the massive pile of books and questioning him. Mo Yuan’s delicate eyes remained calm, and his tone was innocent, as if the fault were not his.
“Did Master not simply forget to give it to you? I am doing this for your own good. Learning a little more is never a mistake.”
Shi Yu did not believe his glib talk. With a cold expression, he stepped closer. Mo Yuan saw the distance between them closing, chuckled softly, grabbed Shi Yu, and turned to pin him against the wall.
“The little kitten is quite fierce, but you cannot beat me right now. A-Yu must study well so that you will not be bullied by others in the future.”
The little kitten glared back with round eyes, his voice indifferent. “Mo Yuan, is bullying me fun?”
Hearing the tone that was calm yet laced with anger, Mo Yuan released his hold on Shi Yu. “A-Yu, do not wrong me. These books just contain more detailed records. You are meant to learn them all.”
Shi Yu reached out to smooth the clothes that had been wrinkled by Mo Yuan’s grip and walked directly to the desk to leaf through the books. It was indeed as Mo Yuan had said.
“Do you believe me now?” Mo Yuan looked at Shi Yu’s movements with his clear, peach-blossom eyes wide.
Shi Yu sat there reading without saying a word, though the icy atmosphere had diminished slightly. Mo Yuan also sat back down, supporting his chin with one hand, observing Shi Yu intently.
What a foolish beauty. The days ahead will be fun.
Time passed like a shooting star across the sky, brief and dazzling, fleeting in an instant. A year had passed in the blink of an eye. Mo Yuan still enjoyed teasing Shi Yu, and Shi Yu still considered him an annoying pest. Everything remained calm, but emotions were subtly shifting.
Although Mo Yuan was annoying, he was genuinely teaching Shi Yu. By now, Shi Yu had memorized the basic arts. During this period, Shi Yu had been waiting for the side quest mentioned by the system, but when he finally asked, the system stated that the side quest had already begun.
Shi Yu was baffled, having no clue, and could only temporarily go along with the arrangements made by others.
“Ding! Congratulations, Shi Yu. One year of the mission time has passed. Nine years of mission time remain.”
Hearing the long-absent mechanical voice, Shi Yu was slightly surprised. Calculating the time, he had indeed been here for exactly one year.
“Mission Reminder: The third mission is about to begin.”
Just as the mechanical voice finished, there was a loud knocking on the door. “A-Yu, Master wants us to go to the main hall today.”
As expected, it was Mo Yuan’s annoying voice.
“I know.”
Shi Yu was still thinking about what the system’s next mission would be and had no desire to deal with this nuisance. Mo Yuan waited for a while and, hearing no further response, skillfully pushed the door open and entered. His widened peach-blossom eyes were full of complaints as he looked directly at the cold and unfeeling Shi Yu.
“A-Yu, we haven’t seen each other for an entire night. Did you not miss me?”
Shi Yu looked at Mo Yuan, who sat down in front of him without hesitation, his eyes full of helplessness.
“No.”
“A-Yu, you are truly cold and heartless.”
Mo Yuan sat at the table, resting his chin on his hands, opening his peach-blossom eyes wide, and pouting as he looked at Shi Yu. Shi Yu countered without mercy, “Senior Brother is truly being unreasonable.”
Mo Yuan opened his lips slightly, wanting to say more, but was interrupted by Shi Yu.
“Enough. Since Master is looking for us, let us go quickly.”
As Shi Yu spoke, he stood up and walked toward the door, with Mo Yuan following closely behind. When the two reached the main hall, Mo Yuan reached out to push open the door, but Shi Yu suddenly spoke up.
“Master, your disciple Shi Yu requests an audience.”
Mo Yuan looked at Shi Yu, who was bowing respectfully, and seemed a bit embarrassed, though his eyes held a hint of a smile as he stepped back. The well-behaved little kitten is truly obedient. So obedient that it makes one want to.
“Come in.”
As soon as the majestic voice from inside finished speaking, the doors to the main hall opened on their own. Mo Yuan looked at the sight he had never seen before; his surprise was evident, and the strange thoughts in his mind vanished.
Zemian Zun looked at his two disciples’ behaviors. There was truly no comparison. “Mo Yuan, look at how polite Shi Yu is. Learn from him.”
Zemian Zun sat on the main seat and said with annoyance. Mo Yuan lowered his head, appearing quite devastated, and answered in a low voice, “This disciple lost his parents at a young age and lacked discipline. I will surely study diligently from now on.”
Shi Yu, who was used to seeing him looking lively and bright, looked at Mo Yuan’s dejected figure and parted his lips, wanting to say something but remaining silent. Zemian Zun seemed used to this kind of trickery and directly exposed him.
“Spare me that. As if I haven’t taught you before. It does not matter within the sect, but when you go down the mountain in the future, you must not be so rude. Be careful not to invite trouble.”
Mo Yuan was not embarrassed after being exposed; he put on a faint smile and agreed repeatedly. Afterward, he directly asked about the reason they had been summoned, successfully changing the subject. Zemian Zun shook his head, looking at Mo Yuan’s refusal to repent.
“This sect, in addition to learning the sect’s magical arts, requires the study of astrology. However, only one personal disciple may learn it. Which of you is willing?”
As soon as Master finished speaking, the system’s notification chimed in Shi Yu’s mind: “Mission initiated: Please choose to only learn the sect’s magic and continue to excel in it.”
Only learn the sect’s magic? Shouldn’t the protagonist learn everything? Is this system legitimate?
Hearing the system’s mission reminder, Shi Yu was full of confusion, but he remained silent in accordance with the prompt. Mo Yuan, standing to the side, narrowed his eyes and looked at Shi Yu’s silent expression.
The little kitten does not seem to want to learn it. How about…
