- Chapter 47 - I Captured the Wind
Through Senior Jack’s introduction, I found a series of ukulele tutorial videos; the videos introduced the techniques for playing the ukulele in great detail. After only a week of practice, I felt my skills had greatly improved!
“I feel like I might not even need to turn on the music anymore?”
I looked up. “Am I bothering you?” I was practicing a new song, so I was mostly just learning the chords and not singing.
“No, no, feel free.” She stood up and grabbed a bottle of beer. “Oh, right! Has that guy named Lu come by again this week?”
Ever since I told her the news about Lu Hanjun showing up at my door, she hasn’t dared to go out much these past few days, afraid that I might get entangled with him again.
I smiled. “No, he hasn’t. You two siblings are like guardian spirits! I have Tao Yi’an in school, and when I come back here, I have you, so how would he dare?” And I don’t know if it was my imagination, but Siqi seemed to have slightly changed her opinion of her brother after learning that Tao Yi’an took the lead in standing up for me.
I felt the same way, and I could also understand why Senior Saya always praised him so highly.
When I was tidying up recently, I showed her the portrait Tao Yi’an drew of me. She looked at it carefully for a long time and finally said, “It’s no worse than the photos I take of you.” Those two! They truly refuse to concede anything to each other!
“That’s good then.”
I left the small sofa and, approaching the computer, noticed she was making a memo. “Are you going on a trip?”
“Mmm, probably after the book signing event.” The signing event is this Sunday.
“Where are you going this time?”
“Not too far, Hualien.” She sat back down in the computer chair. “Just for about three or four days.”
“Then what about the Nepal and Bhutan trips you mentioned before…”
“Ah, I originally planned to leave in April, but now it’ll probably have to wait until summer break.” She scratched her head, her tone sounding uncertain.
“Why the long delay?” I remember her saying her plans were usually fast.
“My trip this time won’t be just for two or three months.” She turned to me. “It’s very likely to be like my previous journey from Southeast Asia all the way to Tibet, which took half a year or even longer.”
As soon as I heard she would be gone for half a year again, my vision instantly went dark. “It’s because I know it will be a long time, so I want to find a chance to travel with you at least during the summer vacation… and then depart after that.”
I was stunned, and it took me a moment to find my voice. “Does that mean… I’m keeping you here?”
Her cheeks were flushed. “Absolutely.” She put down her beer and gently wrapped her arms around my waist. “Xiaoning, do you know? I’m starting to get scared.”
I also put down the ukulele, wrapped my arms around her neck, and asked with a smile, “Scared of what? Scared I’ll be snatched away?”
“That’s part of it!” She winked playfully, but quickly regained her serious expression. “What I’m afraid of is this sense of stability… It’s not that travelers don’t like stability, but with you by my side, I feel so secure and happy… It’s probably too much happiness, which makes me reluctant to leave you.”
She buried her face in my chest. “You once said you couldn’t capture the wind? But you’ve done it now, you’ve done it.”
Yes, I did it.
Hearing her say this, even though I felt a surge of secret joy, I also felt worried. Her expression lacked the carefree confidence of someone who roams everywhere; instead, she looked melancholy.
I clenched my hands into fists until my nails dug into my skin, and only when I felt the pain did I speak. “You should still stick to your original plan.”
The woman hugging me instantly froze. “Xiaoning?” She looked up, as if she couldn’t believe her ears.
My fingertip lightly traced her face. “Siqi, I told you that I want you to stay, but I also worry that I’ll hold you back. You’re the one who helped me find something I truly love, so how could I bear to make you give up your life’s passion because of me?”
Her face grew redder. I gently pinched her cheek, leaned down, and kissed this beautiful face and lips. “I’ll be waiting, waiting for you to come back… So, don’t give up on traveling. Go do what you truly love.”
As we kissed, she suddenly stood up, swept aside the things on the table, and had me sit on it. Her hesitation vanished instantly, replaced by a passionate and direct emotion.
“I’m so happy that I get to have you.”
“Me too.”
She stroked my body, causing waves of tingling, electric pleasure… I gasped. Since the start of the semester, we had been learning to explore each other’s bodies every night; as if to get me used to it, she would touch me but always stop short. And I had gradually learned how to please a woman who was also a woman, and I began to enjoy intimacy with her… everything about her.
She is the wind; she is my wind.
I ran my hand over her softness, and one hand playfully undid her pants button. “Are you sure… you want to be this direct?” She cupped my face and moved closer, nibbling at my lips.
“Mmm.” I grabbed her jeans with both hands and pulled them down with a little force.
“I want you.” Without any pretense, I met her gaze, easily finding the flickering desire in each other’s eyes.
This sentence seemed to break her final defense. She hugged me again and moved our location, finally arriving at the bed where we whisper intimately every night.
“I will try to be gentle.” She kissed my collarbone, whispering to me near my ear as she gasped softly.
I felt the last piece of clothing beneath me being removed by her. When I heard her promise, I shook my head, hugged her, and said, “You don’t have to hold back… Just love me completely.”
“No regrets?”
I nodded, but realized I should be shy after speaking the words! “Mmm…” I softly pleaded, burying my face in her chest.
“Love me with everything you have.”
After fully indulging in our passion for each other, I leaned against her, panting. “Oh, right, tomorrow night… could you come pick me up at Plato?”
“Plato?”
“Mmm, a pub.”
“I’ve heard you mention it.” She was lying on her side, her large hand reluctantly stroking my abdomen. “Why are you suddenly going there? I remember that’s where Lu…”
“Yes, he’s there too; but I’m not going for him.” I also lay on my side and nestled into her arms.
“Then why?”
“Ren mian yu (The Mermen) and the others invited me to the rehearsal room there to practice the ukulele; I haven’t been for a while, and I miss their songs and the atmosphere there. Plus, I have some gossip about your brother! He’ll be there tomorrow too!” Thinking of Tao Yi’an and Senior Saya, I couldn’t help but let out a mischievous smile.
She wouldn’t notice, since the lights were off. “Gossip? My brother?”
“Mmm! You heard right, your brother’s gossip; and it’s not about me!”
“Helping you escape a predicament and harassing you are two different things; if he doesn’t know the difference, then I might have to intervene!” This woman! She completely loses her rationality whenever it concerns me!
She’s so amusing like this.
“Oh, come on! I think Tao Yi’an and my band’s lead singer senior… seem to have something going on?”
“Lead singer senior… have I met her?”
“Mmm! We all call her Saya, it’s her stage name. She was the one who rushed over to find me the day I was heartbroken and you carried me back here, but you blocked her.”
“Saya… I always thought that name was interesting! In Malay, Saya means ‘I’ or ‘me,’ so Senior Saya becomes ‘My Senior’.”
“Oh! Really?” I truly didn’t know that! Speaking of which… why did the senior choose “Saya” as her stage name?
“Really, when have I ever lied to you?”
“Alright! Anyway, can you come pick me up tomorrow night? I remember Ren mian yu usually finishes their performance before 9:30… so, you can come around that time, or even a little earlier! Come inside and listen to them sing.”
“Of course, I’ll go when my girlfriend calls, but listening to songs can wait, I only want to hear you sing.” She said sweetly, wrapping herself around me and kissing my neck!
“You…” I gasped softly. “Behave…”
“I want to do something even naughtier, though?”
“Mmm… Siqi…”
Since the ban on photographing people was lifted, did I unintentionally unlock another switch belonging to her this time?
In order to get to Plato in the afternoon, I not only took Tao Yi’an’s ride but also skipped the last two classes with him!
The backstage was very quiet when we arrived; I took a deep breath of the air that belonged to this place. It felt like a long time since I was last here.
It was Tao Yi’an’s first time, and the usually composed boy showed a rare look of curiosity. The junior band member came to greet us. As soon as we stepped into the rehearsal room door, Senior Saya’s powerful and versatile voice immediately reached my ears.
“Ah! You’re here, I’ve been waiting forever!” The senior immediately put down her microphone when she saw us.
I smiled cheerfully. “Senior, were you waiting for me, or…” I pointedly looked at Tao Yi’an behind me.
She raised an eyebrow and cleverly deflected the question. “Both of you, of course! Today, Little Kai will be listening, and you!” She grandly took my hand. “You’re coming over here to practice singing with us!”
Huh? Practice, practice singing? “What’s going on?”
“Someone said he hasn’t heard you sing and is very curious, plus… haven’t you been practicing diligently lately?” The senior led me to the microphone, lowered it slightly, and patted my shoulder. “Give it a try!”
