Cross the Boundary GL - Chapter 16
Li Chu and her interactions with Qin Song during a visit to a “Haunted Forest” themed ghost house. Li Chu is scared and clings to Qin Song, who seems indifferent and a bit annoyed but allows it. The two get separated from their friend, Lin Zhiyan, who is also scared and screaming.
Qin Song guides Li Chu through the dark and confusing ghost house, acting as a protector. Li Chu is constantly surprised by Qin Song’s behavior and the contrast between her cold exterior and the moments of closeness they share. At one point, Qin Song asks what Li Chu will offer in exchange for her help, and Li Chu suggests piercing Qin Song’s lip or ear. Qin Song seems intrigued by the offer of an ear piercing.
After they find Lin Zhiyan and escape the ghost house, the three go to a restaurant. While Qin Song is getting food, Lin Zhiyan questions Li Chu about her feelings for Qin Song and speculates about Qin Song’s past. Lin Zhiyan observes that Qin Song’s cold, aloof demeanor seems at odds with how a group of men mocked her earlier, suggesting a deeper history. Lin Zhiyan believes this behavior isn’t natural and must be the result of past experiences.
Lin Zhiyan encourages Li Chu’s curiosity about Qin Song, suggesting that a strong connection, or “passion,” often begins with curiosity. She argues that Qin Song’s secretive past is not private if it can be found through public searches. Lin Zhiyan shows Li Chu how her own personal information is easily accessible online.
Later that evening, after being dropped off by Qin Song, Li Chu is still thinking about Lin Zhiyan’s words. She feels an irresistible curiosity about Qin Song’s secrets and past, which she compares to a mysterious gift box. Back home, she opens her laptop, and after some hesitation, searches for “Yang Xin Qin Song).
