- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 96 - A-Yan, You Must Be Happy
After seeing Lu Jingze off, He Zheng returned to where his car was parked.
Driving home, he passed a florist and bought a bouquet of orange-yellow Juliet roses. He and Zhao Yan were currently living together; to make their commutes easier, He Zheng’s spacious duplex apartment served as a perfect middle ground for both of them.
Beep— The door opened.
The warm, orange glow of the indoor lighting instantly washed away the day’s fatigue.
“Meow~” He Zheng’s Ragdoll cat came running to greet him. He Zheng gently rubbed the cat’s head. When he looked up after changing into his slippers, he saw Zhao Yan leaning against the hallway wall in casual clothes, his head tilted as he watched him.
He Zheng’s smile deepened. He stepped forward and handed the flowers to him. “A-Yan, you worked hard today.”
Zhao Yan accepted the bouquet. One look told him these flowers were expensive—at least tens of thousands of yuan. He felt a wave of happiness; ever since they had made their relationship official, He Zheng remained “wild” in bed, but outside of it, he was incredibly attentive. He looked after Zhao Yan’s emotions with the meticulous care of a devoted caretaker.
“You worked hard too,” Zhao Yan replied.
He pulled He Zheng into a light embrace. Their identical scents mingled, though He Zheng still felt that Zhao Yan smelled much better than himself. He buried his face in the crook of Zhao Yan’s neck and took a deep breath. “A-Yan, I’m off tomorrow and the day after. Do you want to take a break too?”
Zhao Yan’s eyes lit up. “Has ‘Lu the Slave-Driver’ finally found a conscience and given you a holiday?”
“Mhm. The situation is settled. There’s no rush to tie up the loose ends; we won’t miss anything over a weekend,” He Zheng chuckled at the nickname Zhao Yan had for Lu Jingze.
“Then I’ll push my meetings for the next two days to Monday. Where do you want to go?” Since it was a rare full weekend off for He Zheng, Zhao Yan naturally didn’t want to spoil the mood.
“Can we stay home? Lu Jingze wants to bring Wang Xinghe over for a dinner party. I came back to ask your permission,” He Zheng said cautiously.
“…” Zhao Yan fell silent. After a moment, he sighed. “He Zheng, if you keep being this cautious, don’t tell me…”
He Zheng looked up quickly. “A-Yan, the current Wang Xinghe has been so well cared for by Lu Jingze that he looks like a deity. I’m afraid you’ll have regrets.”
Exasperated, Zhao Yan reached out to stroke He Zheng’s face. “What? Is our He Zheng not handsome enough?”
The gentle touch made He Zheng’s gaze waver, but he remained self-aware. “You’ll see for yourself. Wang Xinghe carries a natural, gentle radiance.”
Zhao Yan set the flowers down, grabbed He Zheng by his tie, and kissed him deeply. After five minutes of tangled breaths, Zhao Yan finally let go. “Stop acting up. I’m not some scumbag.”
He Zheng bit his lip, swallowed hard, and pulled Zhao Yan into a silent, loving embrace. To He Zheng, Wang Xinghe was the most divine person he had ever seen—someone who looked like he didn’t belong in the mortal world. Who wouldn’t love someone like that?
He understood Zhao Yan’s past feelings because he himself had spent so many years pining for Zhao Yan in secret. Such feelings don’t just vanish with time. But He Zheng could truly feel that Zhao Yan had a place for him in his heart now. That was enough.
At Lu Jingze’s Manor
Wang Xinghe looked at a message on his phone.
[Zhao Yan]: Xinghe, do us the honor of coming over for dinner this weekend with Master Lu. [Zhao Yan]: I want to introduce you to my boyfriend, He Zheng.
Wang Xinghe held his phone, staring at the message in shock. Lu Jingze walked out after his shower and pulled him into his arms.
“Who is Brother chatting with?”
Wang Xinghe handed over the phone, his surprise still evident. “He Zheng and Zhao Yan? This… when did this happen?!”
“Hahaha, give me a kiss and I’ll tell you~” Lu Jingze, who knew the inside scoop, pouted his lips.
His mind still reeling, Wang Xinghe gave him a light peck. Lu Jingze grinned. “They were junior high classmates. He Zheng has had a crush on Zhao Yan for over ten years. It was only after Zhao Yan realized he couldn’t catch you, Brother, that the two of them slowly made it work.”
Wang Xinghe was moved. “So that’s how it is. A-Yan is such a good, gentle person, and Secretary He is so meticulous. It’s wonderful they’re together.”
Lu Jingze felt a pang of jealousy. “Brother, praise me too~”
Wang Xinghe turned around and coaxed him like a child. “Our A-Ze is the best.”
Lu Jingze buried his head in Xinghe’s chest, acting incredibly clingy.
“If word got out, people would laugh,” Wang Xinghe said, remembering Lu Jingze at work. “The decisive, cold-faced President Lu has become a ‘dainty wife’ at home.”
In the office, Lu Jingze’s aura was so oppressive he could see through people with a single glance. It was terrifying. Yet at home, he was like a needy cat that refused to leave his side.
Lu Jingze laughed happily. “But I am Brother’s dainty wife~”
Wang Xinghe closed his eyes, unable to look. “Stop wagging your tail.”
“Then tonight, can ‘Master Lu’ apply to serve Master Xinghe?~” Lu Jingze’s phoenix eyes were brimming with mischief.
Wang Xinghe pushed him gently. “You’ve been exhausted for days. Get some good rest tonight.”
He had seen how hard Lu Jingze had been working, especially in the month following Chen Junsheng’s imprisonment. Lu Jingze started at dawn and came home later and later every night. Even concealer couldn’t hide his dark circles.
Lu Jingze leaned into Xinghe’s arms. “But Brother, I want to…”
Wang Xinghe turned off the bedside lamp and pulled the man into his embrace. “Be good. You’re too tired, A-Ze. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll always be here.”
Soothed by Wang Xinghe’s touch, Lu Jingze fell asleep instantly. As the sound of steady breathing filled the room, Xinghe tenderly stroked Lu Jingze’s coarse hair. He picked up his phone to reply to Zhao Yan.
[Wang Xinghe]: Okay, we will definitely be there. I’m very happy for you. [Zhao Yan]: Me too. Seeing you doing better and better makes me happier than anyone. [Wang Xinghe]: A-Yan, you must be happy. [Zhao Yan]: I will be. You too—you must be happy.
Wang Xinghe put the phone away and held Lu Jingze close. He was happy—a kind of happiness he never dared to dream of before. He leaned in and kissed Lu Jingze’s cheek.
“Lu Jingze,” he whispered. “I love you very much.”
Lu Jingze was too deep in sleep to respond.
Saturday.
As dawn broke, Lu Jingze opened his eyes to the sight of Wang Xinghe’s sleeping face. The high bridge of his nose, deep eye sockets, and soft lips made for a peaceful, beautiful sight. Lu Jingze’s expression softened with tenderness as he traced his lover’s features with his eyes.
Wang Xinghe’s internal clock woke him up. He opened his eyes right into the deep, affectionate gaze of Lu Jingze’s phoenix eyes.
Their eyes met. Wang Xinghe was surprised for a moment, then reached out helplessly. “Sleep a bit more. Why are you up so early?”
Lu Jingze dove into his arms, his hand tracing Wang Xinghe’s lean abs. “I just can’t sleep anymore. Brother…”
His hand wandered downward. A man’s morning needs were self-evident.
Wang Xinghe’s body arched slightly as he let out a muffled groan. Lu Jingze, full of morning vigor, swallowed hard and flipped over, pressing Wang Xinghe beneath him.
It was a morning of infinite spring radiance.
