- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 76 - Brother, Are You Trying to Take My Life Tonight?
In that moment, Lu Jingze’s eyes seemed to be ignited by starlight, shimmering with an unprecedented brilliance. Intense and irrepressible, he responded to Wang Xinghe’s kiss with an equally burning passion.
Xinghe was completely enveloped by this heat. When they finally broke apart, his gaze was hazy, and his breathing had become hurried and chaotic. Lu Jingze’s eyes were as bright as the Norwegian night sky they had once seen together—filled with the vibrant, shifting light of the aurora borealis.
This time, Xinghe did not choose to retreat. He bravely reached out, helping Lu Jingze shed his silk robe. Lu Jingze’s body was revealed—his shoulders firm and broad, his abdominal muscles carved like a masterpiece of fine art, and his fair skin appearing as if it were a flawless creation of the gods.
Xinghe pulled Lu Jingze tightly into his embrace. His lips started at Lu Jingze’s chin and slid slowly down to his Adam’s apple. Every kiss was saturated with deep affection and longing, like a gentle spring rain—tender and nourishing.
Lu Jingze’s Adam’s apple trembled with every breath. Under Xinghe’s touch, his body became exceptionally sensitive, like a lute string being lightly plucked, vibrating with a melodic note.
Breathing heavily, Lu Jingze pressed his forehead against Xinghe’s. His voice was hoarse, thick with restraint. “Brother… are you trying to take my life tonight? Hmm?”
A smile danced in Xinghe’s eyes, reflecting Lu Jingze’s handsome face. “Suppose I am…”
Lu Jingze was in no state to resist such a bold temptation. His blood reached a boiling point, like a volcanic eruption or a searing wildfire. He pinned Xinghe down, leaning in to kiss him with a fierce intensity.
Outside the window, the spring breeze tangled with flowers and leaves; inside the room, the beauty of spring swayed in harmony. This was a moment of reclaiming what was lost—a moment of absolute honesty. On this night, two hearts were joined as tightly as the brightest stars in the heavens, never to be parted.
Kyoto: The Dark Current
While Lu Jingze enjoyed his warm, quiet life in Qingcheng, the situation in Kyoto was like the deep sea at night—turbulent, with dangerous undercurrents surging beneath the surface.
Led by Ji Yuheng, the other illegitimate sons of the Lu family were secretly sharpening their claws, waiting for their moment to strike. Lu Jingze’s decision to step down had returned two-thirds of the Lu Group’s industries to the Old Master’s hands. This undoubtedly provided them with a golden opportunity to fight for power once again.
Lu Ting, the youngest illegitimate son of the Old Master—and the man Lu Jingze would technically call “Little Uncle”—found his doorstep crowded with visitors these past few days. Yet, he refused to see anyone.
Dressed in a crisp, tailored suit and idly fingering a string of Buddhist prayer beads, Lu Ting looked cold and ascetic, as if the external chaos had nothing to do with him.
His special assistant entered the office, holding documents that needed signing. He handed them over respectfully. “President Lu, this is the collaborative project with Ji Yuheng. Please take a look.”
Lu Ting set down the prayer beads and scanned the file. He said calmly, “We’re withdrawing from this project.”
Although an assistant should not defy his boss’s wishes, he felt the need to speak up if a decision seemed to defy common sense. He said cautiously, “President Lu, many major families have invested in this project. The risk is extremely low, and the estimated return is around 130%. Are we truly giving it up?”
Lu Ting nodded. “Yes. Furthermore, announce to the public that I am ill. Book me a flight to Iceland; I’m going there to recuperate.”
A flash of regret crossed the assistant’s eyes. He sighed inwardly but did as he was told. After personally seeing Lu Ting off at the airport, the assistant couldn’t help but grumble to himself: “He really isn’t a leader worth following. Not a single shred of ambition.”
After all, Lu Ting was the Old Master’s only direct illegitimate son. Compared to other relatives of the clan, he undeniably held the strongest advantage.
Ring, ring, ring—
Just as he finished grumbling, his phone rang. It was Ji Yuheng’s public business line. He quickly composed himself, cleared his throat, and answered. “Hello, President Ji.”
“Why the hell can’t I get through to your boss’s phone?” Ji Yuheng’s voice was cold and hard, lacking any patience. He was clearly frustrated after several failed attempts.
“Hello, President Ji. President Lu is unwell and has already departed for Iceland for medical therapy.” The assistant dared to complain in private, but his professional tone remained perfectly calm and unreadable.
Ji Yuheng sneered. “Withdrawing from the project and fleeing to Iceland? Is Lu Ting planning to back out of our cooperation to take down Lu Jingze?”
The assistant’s heart skipped a beat—he had heard a bit too much. He decided to play dumb. “My apologies, President Ji. President Lu has granted me a month of leave, and I am entirely unaware of his future itinerary.”
Ji Yuheng hung up abruptly, slamming his phone onto the expensive villa floor. “Trash!”
“With that little courage, it’s no wonder he’s forty years old and still can’t even get a seat at the Lu family New Year’s banquet!”
Once he calmed down, he pulled out another phone to call a different contact. This person was not of the Old Master’s bloodline, but was the child of a highly influential figure in the previous generation of the Lu family.
“Lu Jingze has completely given up. All power is now back in the Old Master’s hands,” Ji Yuheng said. “Given the Old Master’s nature, he will surely select a successor from the younger generation. I can represent the Ji family to give you a boost. When it’s done, I only want ten percent of the Lu family’s shares.”
Ten percent was enough. Ten percent would allow the Ji family to climb a massive step up the social ladder in Kyoto.
Ji Yuheng was no fool. He knew that even with the favoritism of Madam Lu—his aunt—he would never inherit the Lu family directly. But that favoritism had already brought the Ji family immense wealth. Before Lu Lixing (Lu Jingze’s father) married his aunt, the Ji family was merely a minor household in Kyoto. Back then, Lu Lixing was being groomed as the next successor, and the resources he controlled were beyond the reach of ordinary people. The Ji family had clung to those coattails and soared.
If it weren’t for Lu Jingze, they might have benefited even more from Lu Lixing.
After hanging up, Ji Yuheng leaned back on the sofa and crooked his finger. His secretary rushed to pick up the shattered phone, quickly swapped the SIM card into a new device, and handed it over.
Ji Yuheng browsed through some data, asking his assistant nonchalantly, “Where in Qingcheng are Lu Jingze and that little lover of his staying? Has his private company sent people to surround them yet?”
The assistant replied immediately, “Everything is proceeding according to plan.”
“Good. You may go.” Ji Yuheng dismissed him.
Left alone, Ji Yuheng dialed a long string of numbers. He spoke in fluent English, discussing shipping routes, times, locations, and several other coded phrases. After hanging up, he still seemed uneasy, making several more calls for over two hours before finally exhaling and leaning back.
“Lu Jingze is nothing special after all,” Ji Yuheng muttered with disdain. “I thought he was formidable, but it turns out he’s just a ‘love-brain.’ Born into a noble house, and he actually gave up his inheritance for a fleeting moment of novelty that will fade in a few years. Truly brainless.”
