- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 55 - Wang Xinghe, I Love You, Do You Understand?
Chen Junsheng’s pure white shirt was being clutched by Wang Mingyue, and his expression instantly soured.
He recalled drinking some alcohol last night and having quite a rowdy time with Lu Ming, without much restraint.
The marks were presumably left during that time.
“Chen Junsheng, you haven’t cheated, have you?!” Wang Mingyue’s eyes instantly reddened, and tears were already welling up.
Chen Junsheng looked at her swollen face, which was even uglier when she cried, and felt a wave of nausea.
If it weren’t for Lu Jingze, being caught would be fine; he could just come clean.
But he couldn’t do that now.
Chen Junsheng’s mind raced, and he quickly settled on an explanation.
He calmed himself down and scratched his neck.
“Stop being dramatic. It’s really itchy. I walked through the woods at the art academy a few days ago, and I don’t know what kind of bug bit me. I’ve been scratching it for days.”
“Lu Wang’s younger brother, Lu Ming, even recommended some anti-allergy cream for me. If you don’t believe me, call him and ask.”
Wang Mingyue was not someone who easily trusted people.
The moment he suggested calling Lu Ming, she immediately said without hesitation, “Fine, call him! Put him on speakerphone. I don’t have Lu Ming’s number.”
Chen Junsheng dialed Lu Ming’s secondary phone number.
He deliberately put the call on speakerphone.
Lu Ming, who was sleeping, saw the other number ring. The contact name was saved as [Boss Chen, Public Account].
He knew that Wang Mingyue had sensed something unusual and that he needed to provide cover.
Although Lu Ming was reluctant, he answered the call.
Lu Ming’s tone was calm: “Hello? Brother Chen, why the sudden call? Did something happen?”
Wang Mingyue looked at Chen Junsheng’s clean profile, but her heart was pounding—that was a woman’s sixth sense.
“The bug bite I got, the one that made me slightly allergic, you recommended an allergy cream for me, right?” Chen Junsheng’s voice was even.
“Yes, is there a problem with the cream? Has the allergy on your neck gotten worse?” Lu Ming continued, sounding confused: “Brother Chen, if the cream isn’t working, maybe you should go to the hospital?”
“Sister-in-law, are you free? If you’re busy, I can take the subway to help you.”
As Lu Ming’s words came through, Wang Mingyue’s concerns were dispelled, yet her heart was still uneasy; her intuition told her that this wasn’t simple.
“No need, the company is too busy; I don’t have the time. Thank you. I’ll treat you and your brother to a meal another day,” Chen Junsheng offered a polite courtesy.
Lu Ming chuckled dryly: “Brother Chen, you’re being too formal. It’s nothing. I’m hanging up now; I have class soon. Bye-bye.”
“Bye-bye.”
After hanging up, Chen Junsheng spread his hands: “Mingyue, we’ve been together for ten years. Don’t I deserve your trust?”
“Alright, hurry upstairs. I’ll have a delivery service buy you some durian, which you love.” Chen Junsheng gently ushered her upstairs.
Even with countless doubts in her mind, Wang Mingyue was unable to find any answers and returned home perplexed.
“Click.” The sounds of the door opening and closing followed in quick succession.
The nanny wiped her hands and hurried over: “Madam is back!”
Wang Mingyue nodded: “I won’t eat. Don’t worry about me. I’m going to sleep for a bit.”
The nanny nodded: “Of course, Madam.”
After Wang Mingyue returned to the bedroom, the scent of perfume on Chen Junsheng’s body lingered stubbornly in her mind.
As did those red marks.
Was it really an allergy?
Wang Mingyue didn’t know whether to believe him or not.
She scrolled through her phone, and her finger finally stopped on Wang Xinghe’s number.
She hesitated for a moment before dialing.
“Doo doo doo—” It was nighttime for Wang Xinghe, who was far away in Norway.
The two of them were currently at Lu Jingze’s private villa in Norway, and Lu Jingze was excitedly planning their next journey.
“Brother, let’s go skiing tomorrow, okay?” Lu Jingze looked at him with bright, sparkling eyes.
Wang Xinghe opened his mouth, but before he could speak, his phone lit up.
He glanced at the contact name; it was his sister.
He subconsciously sighed and answered.
“Hello.” Wang Xinghe still didn’t call her ‘Sister.’
Because every time he had called her ‘Sister’ in the past, she had hated it and told him not to call her that and to get lost.
“I heard you’re sick? Where are you?” Wang Mingyue asked, holding back her anger.
She is pregnant and fine, yet a strong young man has so many ailments.
“My friend and I are out; we’re not in the capital,” Wang Xinghe said. He wouldn’t mention Lu Jingze.
At least not yet.
He also didn’t know how to explain it.
There was no longer the bond between them that allowed for calm conversation and discussion.
Perhaps that bond was severed the moment their parents died.
“Once you’re better, hurry back to stream. Isn’t your brother-in-law’s company entirely dependent on you for the live streams?”
“Don’t think that just because you can boost the stream, you can slack off. If you can do the job, do it. If you can’t, say so directly.”
“What kind of behavior is working one day and resting two?”
Faced with Wang Mingyue’s accusations, Wang Xinghe remained silent.
After a long while, he replied, “Alright, I’ll go back.”
“Also, I think your brother-in-law might be seeing someone outside… Go back and help me keep an eye on him.”
“Wang Xinghe, we need to have a serious talk after the baby is born,” Wang Mingyue said, then hung up directly.
“Doo doo doo—”
Wang Xinghe took the phone away from his ear.
He turned his head and looked at Lu Jingze.
Lu Jingze’s face was not looking good.
In the quiet room, they were sitting so close that he had heard the entire conversation between Wang Xinghe and Wang Mingyue.
“Why does your sister harbor so much hatred toward you?” Lu Jingze wasn’t the type to interfere in other people’s family matters before.
But now, to Lu Jingze, Wang Xinghe was his other half.
This was a family matter, and it was within his scope of concern.
Wang Xinghe didn’t want to bring it up: “It’s all in the past, Lu Jingze. Let’s not play anymore; let’s go back.”
Lu Jingze saw him drooping his eyes and clenching his fists in a weak manner, and he was so angry that he closed his own eyes.
He wanted to calm the anger in his heart but found that he couldn’t soothe the emotion at all.
Lu Jingze opened his eyes, walked up to Wang Xinghe, and gently cupped his clean, fair face, where you could even see the faint purplish veins on his forehead.
“Xinghe, don’t be like this. If you don’t speak, you just bottle it up inside, thinking you can endure the pain and process it alone.”
“But what about me? Watching you feel down and sad is equally agonizing for me.”
“Wang Xinghe, I love you, do you understand? I love you, and your mood directly affects mine.”
“I want you to be happy.”
Wang Xinghe felt the searing heat on his cheeks and met Lu Jingze’s worried, intense phoenix eyes.
At this moment, Wang Xinghe desperately wanted to say how tired he was.
So tired that he didn’t even have the strength to cry.
“Lu Jingze, my situation is irreversible. Everything has been beyond saving since the year my parents died because of me.”
“You can’t save me.”
“And I can’t forgive myself.”
Wang Xinghe forced a gentle smile, as soft as a beam of warm autumn light passing through a window.
But his eyes were utterly dead—calm, undisturbed, and focused only on seeking an end.
If he hadn’t had his sister and his soon-to-be-born nephew pulling him back, he would have given up long ago.
But every moment he lived in this world was excruciatingly painful.
His body hurt, and his heart ached.
The pain was paralyzing.
