- Chapter 5 - The 'Crown Prince' or the God of Wealth
After changing the sheets and bedding, and cleaning the shop and the room, it was already 3:30 in the afternoon. Wang Xinghe was visibly exhausted, but he still patiently and gently showed Lu Jingze around their temporary home.
“The bathroom and toilet are on the first floor here. The washing machine is here, too.”
“On the second floor, there’s only one bedroom with a single bed. You’ll have to make do with me, since you won’t be staying long.”
“This is the balcony, where you can hang clothes to dry.”
“And over there is a storage room.”
Wang Xinghe yawned. “I’m going to sleep for a bit. When I wake up, I’ll make dinner. You can look around and get familiar with the place.”
Lu Jingze nodded and watched Wang Xinghe lie down on the soft bedding. He fell into a deep sleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The sound of his even breathing echoed in the room. Lu Jingze’s feet moved to the side of the bed on their own accord.
He looked at Wang Xinghe’s clean and soft sleeping face and gently knelt by the bed, his gaze lingering on his cheeks, lips, and the top of his soft brown hair.
He carefully pulled the quilt up to cover Wang Xinghe’s long, pale neck, and then quietly watched him for a long time, making sure he was sleeping soundly.
Only then did he get up and go downstairs, pull up the rolling shutter, and head toward the business district.
On his way back, Lu Jingze noticed a Dell computer store.
Ding-ling. The door of the store chimed.
Inside, there were mostly cheap laptops and one or two desktop computers.
Lu Jingze’s eyes swept over the devices and finally settled on the most expensive laptop.
He said without hesitation, “I want this one.”
The boss grinned. “Okay, 6,280 yuan. You can give me 6,000.”
“Okay. Do you have Alipay face-to-face payment?” Lu Jingze’s phone had fallen into the sea. His ID and documents were not on him.
His only way to pay now was with face recognition.
“Yes, I do have a face recognition machine. Wait a moment; let me connect it.”
The boss fiddled with it for a while and said to Lu Jingze, “Alright, go ahead and scan your face, student.”
Lu Jingze leaned in.
Ding— Face scan successful.
The smile on the boss’s face grew wider. “I’ll set up the computer for you. I’ll also give you a free pair of headphones, a mouse, and a keyboard.”
Lu Jingze nodded. “Okay. Give me all the freebies. I’ll set up the computer myself.”
Lu Jingze sat at the long glass table.
His long, well-defined fingers flew across the keyboard. His face, which was already very intimidating, now had a low-pressure aura around it as he concentrated.
Click-click-click-click—
The sound of continuous keyboard tapping made the store owner unable to help but turn his head.
“You’re a master, student.”
Lu Jingze glanced at him sideways. “I need some quiet.”
The boss was speechless. He was actually startled by the look in the eyes of a young man in his early twenties.
He quickly shut up, not wanting to offend the God of Wealth.
He logged into his email and selected the recipients.
Lu Jingze drafted an email with a fake address and link.
First, he changed the payment address to Rongcheng, which was a hundred thousand miles away from Qingcheng.
Second, he masked the email’s virtual IP to disguise himself.
Both the IP address and the payment address were Rongcheng, and any future face-to-face payments here would show a different IP.
The email was sent to two of his subordinates.
[I’m fine. Proceed with the plan. Remember, keep a close eye on them. Z.]
After sending the email, he waited for a little over a minute.
Both subordinates replied.
[Don’t worry, boss.]
[Received, boss.]
He closed the email and looked up his public phone number.
There were all sorts of contacts, but there was no mother.
Lu Jingze sneered. “Sure enough, the person who most wants me dead is you.”
He set up a password for the computer and closed it.
Lu Jingze stood up, his height, looks, and aura making the honest middle-aged boss stand up cautiously as well.
Lu Jingze now needed a car for transportation, just in case.
So, he locked his eyes on the seemingly honest man in front of him, scrutinizing him for three seconds.
“Boss, what kind of car do you like?”
The boss was dumbfounded by the question. “Huh? Me? I like the Prado.”
“I’ll transfer one million to you. The car will be here within three days, and I’ll pick it up at your store. The car is mine while I’m here, and when I leave, it’s yours.”
The boss was stunned by the big pie that fell from the sky. “Huh?”
Lu Jingze frowned and looked at the time on the wall. It was already 4:20.
“Quick, Alipay face-to-face payment.” Lu Jingze stood in front of him.
The boss shakily typed in 1,000,000 on the screen.
Ding— Face scan successful.
Lu Jingze put the laptop into its bag and handed it to him. “Please hold onto this for me as well.”
The boss numbly took it.
Lu Jingze walked out of the store without looking back.
It wasn’t until Lu Jingze’s back disappeared down the long street that the boss slapped himself hard on the face.
The pain on his cheek was real.
“He’s… a real God of Wealth?”
The money was more than enough to buy a Prado outright, with plenty left over.
Wang Xinghe heard a sound downstairs and groggily opened his eyes. The room was dim. He rubbed his eyes, wearing his gray cotton slippers, and looked at his phone.
It was already 5:40.
He walked downstairs one step at a time. The orange-yellow light downstairs was very soft.
Hah… Wang Xinghe yawned and walked into the kitchen.
He saw a tall figure wearing his black apron, fighting with a ball of dough.
The man was covered in flour.
Wang Xinghe walked up to him, a mixture of amusement and helplessness on his face. “Aze, what are you doing?”
Lu Jingze’s eyes moved slightly at the name “Aze.” He then pouted unhappily. “I watched you knead the dough, and it looked so easy. Why did I mess it up so badly?”
“Pfft—” Wang Xinghe looked at his somewhat disheveled appearance and laughed out loud.
He washed his hands and came forward to rescue the dough from his hands.
“Here, I’ll teach you.”
“To keep it from sticking, you can add a little bit of dry flour to the table.”
The incredibly sticky dough became a smooth ball in Wang Xinghe’s hands with just a few moves.
Two bowls of steaming hot tomato noodles with meat sauce were ready in no time.
After they ate, Wang Xinghe took a clean bath towel and went downstairs. “I’m going to take a shower. You’re not fully recovered yet, so you shouldn’t.”
Lu Jingze nodded and obediently took the medicine tablets, swallowing them in front of Wang Xinghe.
After a hot shower, Wang Xinghe felt even more tired. He went upstairs to the bedroom.
Lu Jingze had already changed into his pajamas and was lying on the outside of the bed, leaving the inside for him.
“You should sleep on the inside. The outside is next to the door, so it might get drafty.” Wang Xinghe stood in front of him.
Lu Jingze’s body tensed up a little. He woodenly and obediently moved inward.
When Wang Xinghe sat down, the soft bed sank, and Lu Jingze’s breathing became strained.
The exhaustion from his hot shower made Wang Xinghe yawn again.
“You can use the new quilt; I’ll use my old one.”
Lu Jingze hummed in agreement, turning his back to Wang Xinghe and huddling close to the edge of the bed.
Wang Xinghe looked at the distance between them, which seemed to span a galaxy.
He didn’t quite understand why two grown men needed to lie so far apart.
What was he doing with his back to him?
But he respected his space and didn’t ask.
He turned off the light.
Before long, Wang Xinghe was sound asleep.
But Lu Jingze, curled up, couldn’t shake the heat that was building up in his body.
He was naturally attracted to men, and a man like Wang Xinghe was his perfect type.
The sound of Wang Xinghe’s even breathing began, and Lu Jingze dared to turn around. His phoenix eyes, in the darkness, carefully traced the outline of his prey.
He was very patient and very confident.
Wang Xinghe would be his, sooner or later.
The thought of Wang Xinghe belonging to him made his blood run hot. It was as exciting as getting a rare prize after beating a final boss in a game.
