- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 47 - The Onset of Illness
He Zheng adjusted his rimless glasses, smiling gently. “Good morning, Mr. Wang. This is breakfast.”
“And these are the clothes CEO Lu will wear today,” He Zheng handed over the shopping bag as well.
Wang Xinghe took both the insulated container and the shopping bag; the weight settled in his hands.
“Come inside and eat. It’s too cold,” Wang Xinghe moved aside, inviting him in.
He Zheng smiled and politely declined. “I have other matters to attend to. If CEO Lu needs to go to the hospital, he will call me. Please don’t forget to remind him, Mr. Wang.”
“Alright, I’ll remind him.”
Wang Xinghe noticed the cut on his lip and the slap marks on his face.
He paused for a moment, then asked, “Secretary He, is your face alright?”
He Zheng pursed his lips. The pain was still there, and he recalled the ferocity of Zhao Yan when he lost control.
A flash of satisfied pleasure crossed his eyes.
Yet, he remained polite. “My little ancestor at home has a bit of a temper. Please excuse the sight, Mr. Wang.”
Wang Xinghe quickly waved his hand. “No, no, not at all.”
“Mr. Wang, how about we exchange contact information? You can contact me directly if anything comes up,” He Zheng showed his QR code.
Wang Xinghe didn’t refuse and took out his phone.
“Beep—” went his phone.
He Zheng was now added as a contact.
Looking at the accepted friend request, He Zheng masked his emotions. “I’ll be going now. Please contact me promptly if anything happens.”
“Okay.” Wang Xinghe carried the insulated container and clothes back into the apartment.
He Zheng looked at Wang Xinghe’s star-themed profile picture, the corner of his mouth curving up. If I ever make a huge mistake in the future, crying to ‘Empress Ma’ might actually save my life.
Wang Xinghe laid out the breakfast, looking at the extravagant dishes.
He glanced at the person still sleeping on the bed and sighed. “He really is a pampered person.”
“What a poor life he lived when he was with me before.”
Wang Xinghe looked at a meal that was worth several months of a typical person’s salary.
The sense of disparity between wealth and poverty was acutely strong.
He set the utensils, went to the bedside, and gently pushed his arm. “Get up and eat.”
Lu Jingze’s head was throbbing fiercely. His morning temper made him instinctively frown.
But when he opened his eyes and saw Wang Xinghe, the aggression in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a well-behaved smile.
“Morning, Xinghe Ge~”
Wang Xinghe nodded and handed him the expensive slippers he had bought last time, nearly ten thousand yuan.
Lu Jingze pursed his lips and lightly kissed his hair.
Wang Xinghe felt the touch on his head, looked up, and pulled him up. “Stop acting silly. We need to eat breakfast and then go to the hospital for your infusion.”
“Mhm mhm mhm, I’ll listen to Gege~” Lu Jingze smiled foolishly.
He followed Wang Xinghe to the dining table.
Seeing the familiar tableware on the table, he raised an eyebrow. “This looks familiar…”
“Secretary He brought it early this morning. It’s still warm,” Wang Xinghe handed him a small pot of the soup.
The fragrant, fresh, slightly bitter soup warmed his stomach.
The foie gras tacos had a hint of fruit.
Wang Xinghe had to admit that high-end ingredients did taste good.
The truffle steamed cake had vanilla added; the rice aroma, vanilla scent, and the fruity truffle aroma complemented each other perfectly.
Lu Jingze, however, had little interest in eating. He’d been eating these expensive things since childhood; they all tasted the same.
He’d rather drink a packet of instant noodle seasoning.
But seeing Wang Xinghe across the table eating quite well, he gained some appetite and ate bite by bite.
“Xinghe Ge, can I wait until you get off work to go for the infusion? I don’t want to go alone,” Lu Jingze whined, leaning on Wang Xinghe’s shoulder.
Lu Jingze was broad-shouldered and half a head taller than Wang Xinghe.
It was like a large German Shepherd hugging a Ragdoll cat.
Wang Xinghe pushed him gently, maintaining some distance. “No.”
Lu Jingze wilted completely. “But if I go out for the infusion, I won’t be able to get back in. It’s so cold outside the door.”
Wang Xinghe looked at his pitiful eyes, pulled out the spare key from the entryway drawer behind him.
“Two weeks. When your injuries heal, you go home. If you can agree to that, take this key.”
“If you can’t, then don’t come back.”
Lu Jingze didn’t hear the latter half of the sentence at all.
His mind was completely focused on: Key, key, key~
He has a key to my apartment again~
Fireworks were going off in his brain, and his eyes were sparkling. He snatched the key instantly.
He hugged Wang Xinghe tightly and gave him a loud peck on the cheek. “I love you, Xinghe Ge~”
Wang Xinghe pushed him away somewhat dismissively, put on his sneakers and down jacket, and headed out.
“Xinghe Ge~ I’ll wait for you to come home~” Lu Jingze leaned against the door, waving lazily.
Wang Xinghe glanced at him and entered the elevator.
In truth, he couldn’t hide his good mood.
He didn’t know why, but being with Lu Jingze always gave him an underlying sense of vitality and happiness.
It was like light piercing through layers of dark clouds after a long stretch of cloudy weather.
It made him overwhelmed and unable to cope, yet he genuinely felt relaxed and happy.
His heavy heart felt like it was being lifted by ascending cotton, gently floating upward.
He walked to the company entrance and suddenly noticed many unfamiliar cars parked there, and some people he didn’t recognize were standing by the door.
“Morning, Xinghe~” A girl waved at him timidly.
Wang Xinghe was confused because he didn’t know or recognize the person in front of him.
But out of politeness, he took his hand out of his pocket and waved gently. “Hello, are you…?”
“Wow! It really is Xinghe! He’s so handsome! Even better-looking than in the live stream!”
As soon as they confirmed he was Wang Xinghe, many men and women of all ages emerged from the strange cars.
They pulled out their phones and swarmed him, snapping pictures.
“Family, he’s genuinely so tall, so thin, and so gentle…”
“This is the first time I’ve seen someone so handsome without makeup… His features are so superior. Is he really not going into the entertainment industry?”
Wang Xinghe was surrounded, feeling like countless human walls were enclosing him.
His face turned pale, and his breathing became rapid.
He bit his lip, waving his hand while trying to walk toward the company entrance.
“Excuse me, please, thank you…”
Wang Xinghe finally managed to escape to the company’s third floor and tried to steady his nerves.
Just as he entered, Li Li knocked on his door with a look of pure delight.
“Xinghe! Do you know how many likes the video we posted yesterday got?!”
Wang Xinghe put down his backpack and shook his head. Over ten thousand?
“Six hundred and eighty thousand likes!!!!” Li Li was practically screaming!
“The little shopping cart link we put up this morning has sold out again!”
Wang Xinghe was somewhat shocked. I can’t be that good-looking, can I?
“The company account’s DMs are exploding! All sorts of partners are reaching out to us! Xinghe! You really are the lucky star and benefactor of Sales Group One!” Li Li was overjoyed.
Based on commission alone, yesterday, everyone in Sales Group One could split at least thirty thousand yuan each just from the commissions!
Thirty thousand yuan commission in one day! This was something they would never have dreamed of in offline sales before.
“You have me to thank for throwing in a hundred yuan for the Dou+ promotion~” Lu Wang darted from the doorway, leaning against the glass door to claim credit from Li Li and Wang Xinghe.
“Thank you~ Lunch is on me today for everyone~” Li Li was ecstatic.
“Xinghe, please make the live stream a permanent fixture. I believe you’ll gain a massive fan base~”
Her intuition was indeed correct!
Who doesn’t love beautiful things?!
Otherwise, why would the Beijing Film Academy entrance exam focus on looks~
However, Wang Xinghe, in the center of the vortex, felt an overwhelming sense of discomfort.
He… didn’t want to be noticed by more people.
Panic and unease swept over him like a tide.
His long eyelashes drooped as his brows furrowed, casting a shadow.
His fists clenched slightly, and he felt short of breath.
His vision blurred, and he heard a buzzing sound.
A needle-like pain began to spread through his body, accompanied by auditory hallucinations…
