- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 45 - Do You Still Like Lu Jingze?
At the private hospital invested in by Lu Jingze.
The attending doctor looked at the newly taken scans.
His expression was grave. “Mild to moderate concussion, an ulcer has developed on the hand wound, a slight fracture in the left pinky finger, a minor fracture in the thoracic vertebra, and pulmonary nodules.”
The more Wang Xinghe heard, the more panicked he became. He truly hadn’t known Lu Jingze had so many injuries. His face instantly paled.
“The concussion will be accompanied by adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting, and headaches. He needs bed rest for at least two weeks.”
“The pulmonary nodules require intravenous infusions, the left pinky finger needs to be fixed, and the chilblains require warmth and daily disinfection with iodine at least once.”
“Most importantly, he needs rest. His state of mind is very important.”
He Zheng followed behind Wang Xinghe, holding the treatment sheet.
As a professional Special Assistant, he did not offer extra comments.
“Is he… usually very busy?” Wang Xinghe couldn’t help but ask He Zheng.
“CEO Lu has been extremely busy since he took over the Lu Group. He’s barely had a moment’s rest. Sometimes, the evening functions he attends are all carefully considered for the sake of the Lu family’s industry,” He Zheng replied truthfully.
“Then doesn’t he get a physical? Does no one look after his health?” Wang Xinghe couldn’t believe that the heir of the Lu family had no one to care for him.
“He gets a physical every year, but this year, CEO Lu has simply been too busy, with too much going on, and hasn’t gone yet. Furthermore, CEO Lu has a cleanliness fetish and doesn’t like having people in the house. The cleaning lady and the cooking maid both leave before CEO Lu returns home,” He Zheng continued to state the facts.
He Zheng added, “Aside from work, CEO Lu is alone most of the time.”
Wang Xinghe listened silently and walked into the VIP room.
Lu Jingze, lying on the large bed, was still on an IV drip.
He Zheng stood to the side with the report, raising his hand to check the time. It was already 7:10 PM.
“Mr. Wang, what would you like for dinner?” He Zheng opened a list of nearby restaurants.
“I can’t eat. Don’t worry about me. You… should also go home. I’ll stay here.” Looking at the pale-faced Lu Jingze, Wang Xinghe truly couldn’t bring himself to just leave.
He Zheng dared not let Wang Xinghe go hungry, so he said, “Then I’ll go buy some light porridge and vegetables. Just in case CEO Lu wakes up, he’ll need something to eat too.”
“Alright. Buy according to his taste,” Wang Xinghe agreed.
Sitting on the soft stool beside the bed, a blanket of pure white, soft silk lightly covered Lu Jingze’s body.
His hand was still wrapped in a bandage.
“You really don’t cherish your body. If you don’t love yourself, how can you expect…” Wang Xinghe said softly to himself.
In the quiet room, it sounded more like a private thought.
Half an hour later, He Zheng returned to the room with four dishes and one soup, all packaged.
“Mr. Wang, I bought two servings. Please remember to eat. Otherwise, CEO Lu will blame me for not taking good care of you when he wakes up,” He Zheng took out the containers and placed them on the dining table.
Wang Xinghe stopped him. “Just leave them there for now. We’ll eat together when he wakes up.”
“Understood, Mr. Wang. I’ll head home now. I’ve left a car for you in the hospital’s underground parking lot, B1, spot A12. Here are the keys. You should find it useful.” He Zheng left a Maybach, as that car was easier to drive.
“Creak—” The sound of the door closing echoed behind him.
Only the two of them remained in the entire room.
Wang Xinghe gently held his un-needled hand, examining it closely.
His fingers were long and fair, with scars both large and small.
He had never looked closely before.
A pang of heartache, even he couldn’t deny, flashed through his heart.
“Alas—” Wang Xinghe sighed softly.
He waited until both IV bags were completely empty.
Wang Xinghe opened the door to call the nurse.
The young nurse was professional, said nothing throughout, removed the needle, and left.
Wang Xinghe pressed down on the needle point, gazing at Lu Jingze’s sleeping face.
His jaw and profile were thinner than last year, and his long, curled eyelashes masked the dark circles under his eyes.
Looking closely, the deep dark circles were almost the same color as his lashes.
He looked truly exhausted and weary.
Wang Xinghe curled his fingers and asked himself in his heart: Do I still like Lu Jingze?
Wang Xinghe recalled the snowy night when they held hands, the sunset when they embraced, and the fervent warmth of his body…
If Lu Jingze liked someone, no one would be able to resist him.
He was blazing like a sun, surrounding you with intense affection.
He liked him, without a doubt.
It wasn’t pity, not loneliness, nor was it compromise.
He genuinely liked Lu Jingze the person.
But…
In Wang Xinghe’s previous understanding, Lu Jingze was a pearl fallen into the mud, an ownerless object.
He himself was just an ordinary person who had found the pearl.
But the Lu Jingze of now was a hu fu (tiger tally) and an imperial seal, an unhideable treasure of power that could not belong to him.
Moreover… Wang Xinghe knew his own physical condition.
No one was more clear than he was that he was a tightly stretched rubber band right now, and he didn’t know when it might suddenly snap.
He was afraid that his departure, like the departure of his parents back then, would cause the other person a violent, irreparable blow.
“What am I supposed to do with you…” Wang Xinghe felt lost.
Lu Jingze slowly opened his eyes. In his palm was pain and warmth.
The room had a soothing scent of lavender aromatherapy.
Lu Jingze, whose head was throbbing, looked at Wang Xinghe sitting by the side, holding his hand.
He felt somewhat dazed and gently tightened his grip.
“You…”
Seeing him wake up, Wang Xinghe stood up and gently supported him. “Get up and eat something, then take your medicine.”
Wang Xinghe could feel Lu Jingze’s gaze constantly following him.
He took out a pair of disposable slippers, helped him put them on, and assisted him to the dining table.
He set out the four dishes and one soup.
There was a dish of Australian lobster balls with lettuce, a coconut chicken dish, a grouper dish, a vegetable salad, and a beef and vegetable puree congee.
He filled a bowl of congee for Lu Jingze and placed it in front of him.
Lu Jingze lowered his head and ate obediently, like a child who had done wrong.
Wang Xinghe helped him by putting vegetables, chicken, and fish in his bowl, but not the shrimp.
“Your wound hasn’t healed completely yet. Eat less shellfish,” Wang Xinghe switched the lobster ball dish to his own side.
Lu Jingze glanced at him and continued eating.
After they finished, Wang Xinghe cleared the dining table.
He helped Lu Jingze back to the bed.
“Rest well. I’ll go home half an hour after you’ve taken your medicine.”
“The doctor said you should stay in bed for at least two weeks.”
As Wang Xinghe tucked in the quilt, his wrist was grabbed by Lu Jingze.
Wang Xinghe didn’t struggle and looked at him.
“I want to go home with you. I don’t like hospitals,” Lu Jingze’s eyes held an almost pleading expression.
Wang Xinghe held his gaze for a long time. As the time dragged on, Lu Jingze’s eyes gradually dimmed.
Wang Xinghe truly couldn’t harden his heart and say no to those eyes.
“Put on your clothes, let’s go together.” Wang Xinghe released him and went to the clothes rack to get his down jacket.
Suddenly, he felt a weight behind him as Lu Jingze embraced him from behind.
The weight of his entire head rested on Wang Xinghe’s shoulder.
“Thank you…”
Wang Xinghe looked down at his bare feet. “Alright, go put on your shoes first, and we’ll go back.”
