- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 17 - I Really Don't Like Men
Wang Xinghe fainted again.
When he woke up, he was in his most hated place. In the faint, dim light, the smell of disinfectant made him feel nauseous.
He instinctively dry-heaved.
Zhao Yan, who was dozing beside him, woke up with a start.
He looked at the man who had gotten so much thinner and hugged him, his heart aching. “Wang Xinghe, are you trying to kill me?”
Wang Xinghe felt even more repulsed. He hated being touched by a man now. He pushed Zhao Yan away. “Don’t touch me, if you still want to be friends.”
Zhao Yan froze, but he let go of Wang Xinghe. “Why is it okay for Lu Jingze, but not me?” Zhao Yan asked, deeply hurt.
Wang Xinghe scoffed at the familiar name. “I don’t like men at all.”
“The first time I tried to trust someone, I was completely betrayed. From now on, I won’t trust anyone.”
Zhao Yan’s face grew even paler. “Okay, then let’s be friends. I won’t cross that line. Don’t push me so far away, okay?” Zhao Yan pleaded softly.
Wang Xinghe lay on the pure white pillow, as fragile as a porcelain doll. He closed his eyes, and tears streamed down his face. “Zhao Yan, stay away from me. I’m a jinx…”
“What’s the point of seeking trouble?”
Zhao Yan was furious. “That’s bullshit! You are not!”
Wang Xinghe’s body trembled as he began to laugh, and then as he laughed, he started to cry again.
He was in so much pain. The kind of pain where he wanted to die every day but was too afraid to see his parents. The kind of pain where he was a patient with severe depression but had to pretend to be a normal person.
The physical pain, the trembling of his body—it was a suffering that he couldn’t stop without medication.
It was all driving him crazy. He felt that if he didn’t die, he would eventually become a madman.
Zhao Yan knelt by his bed, crying with him. “Don’t be like this. I’m begging you. What you’re doing is no different than killing me.”
Wang Xinghe looked at him with his bloodshot eyes. “Give me a sedative shot. I want to sleep…”
He knew Zhao Yan’s connections could make it happen.
Zhao Yan compromised. The sedative was administered, and not long after, Wang Xinghe’s eyes closed.
Zhao Yan looked at the pale face and decided to contact Lu Jingze. He found their mutual friend, Qian Siyue, and walked out of the hospital room.
He dialed the number. “Siyue, it’s me, Zhao Yan. I’m back in the country.”
“Mmm. We can catch up in Kyoto another day. Do you have Lu Jingze’s phone number? I need to find him for some private matters.”
Qian Siyue had thought Zhao Yan was just calling to catch up. He didn’t expect such a bold request right away. He subconsciously glanced at Ji Yuheng, who was among the group of rich kids, and cleared his throat. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
Qian Siyue talked on the phone outside the private room. “Why do you want to see him?”
Zhao Yan: “It’s a private matter. I can’t have you relay it for me.”
“Don’t even go there. The Crown Prince has been on a rampage in Kyoto recently. He was missing for over two months, right? After he came back, he directly destroyed three of our Brother Ji’s projects that were worth hundreds of millions of yuan.”
“He stole one of his father’s main business sectors and caused a huge commotion, hurting a lot of people.”
“Forget about me, even Ji Yuheng doesn’t dare to call him and cause trouble.”
“If the Crown Prince finds out that I privately gave you his number, my family’s businesses wouldn’t be able to withstand his anger.”
Zhao Yan grew up in Kyoto, so he was naturally aware of the Lu family’s Crown Prince’s reputation. He just didn’t expect his methods to be even more ruthless after his return.
“And I heard the Crown Prince is getting engaged to the daughter of the Aviation Materials industry tycoon. He doesn’t have time for anything else. I advise you to put your matter on hold and wait for the chaos to pass,” Qian Siyue said, subtly refusing his request.
Zhao Yan frowned. “He’s getting married?”
Damn it! That scumbag!
“Yeah, it’s been a huge deal.” Qian Siyue was surprised by his reaction. He twitched the corner of his mouth. “What’s wrong? Did the Crown Prince hurt your sister while he was gone for two months? Why are you so angry?”
The fury in Zhao Yan’s chest made his entire face turn red. He punched the wall.
“Never mind. Thanks. Let’s get together when I’m back in Kyoto.” Zhao Yan hung up the phone. He leaned against the wall in the hospital corridor. He was disgusted by what Lu Jingze had done.
He closed his eyes, thinking about how to help Wang Xinghe get better. He had read the reports over the past few days, and Wang Xinghe’s condition was very poor. He was genuinely afraid that Wang Xinghe would give up and just die.
He called a friend who was studying medicine abroad and generally explained Wang Xinghe’s situation. His friend was silent for a while.
“If it’s because of a broken heart, instead of the disappearance being a mystery, it’s better to make him face the truth completely. Desensitization therapy. He has to hit rock bottom before he can rise again.”
After thanking him, Zhao Yan hung up the phone. He pushed open the door.
Wang Xinghe on the hospital bed was still beautiful, but his beauty was now mixed with too much brokenness. He looked at the pale, beautiful face on the bed—the person he had secretly liked for so many years since high school.
It felt like countless knives were piercing his heart.
Why wasn’t I brave enough? Why did I let that scumbag get ahead of me? If I had come back just a year earlier, would Wang Xinghe have accepted me?
Zhao Yan sat by his bed, feeling heartbroken. He made up his mind to take Wang Xinghe to Kyoto and let him be completely disappointed in Lu Jingze.
He had to hit rock bottom to have a chance to live again.
Zhao Yan took out his phone and messaged his assistant.
[Drive the business van to Qingcheng, [location], and bring two changes of clothes.]
When Wang Xinghe woke up, it was still dark. As he struggled to get up, a pair of hands gently helped him.
“Xinghe, eat something.” A bowl of fragrant porridge was brought before him.
Wang Xinghe had no appetite. But he knew he couldn’t die now. He couldn’t die. He kept telling himself he couldn’t die. If he died, his parents would be sad.
So he took the porridge and forced himself to eat, one spoonful after another. He felt nauseous from the very first bite. But he held back, eating five mouthfuls. In the end, he really couldn’t eat anymore.
He leaned against the headboard, watching the IV drip. His eyes were as still as an old well.
Zhao Yan took the bowl and chopsticks and began peeling an apple for him. He cut it into small pieces, put one on a toothpick, and held it out.
“Xinghe, have a bite.” Zhao Yan coaxed him.
Wang Xinghe turned his head and looked at Zhao Yan, forcing a smile. “Thank you for taking care of me these past few days. I’m okay now.”
“How much was the hospital bill? I’ll transfer the money to you.”
Zhao Yan didn’t speak. He just looked at him.
“Xinghe, in this world, not everyone is heartless or a scumbag.”
Wang Xinghe’s smile faded. He looked at him wearily. “Zhao Yan, I really don’t like men.”
“What happened with Lu Jingze is in the past. I plan to let myself move on.”
Zhao Yan didn’t believe it. His words said he was moving on, but his actions were still hurting himself.
Zhao Yan took a deep breath. “I know Lu Jingze. I’ll take you to him so you can at least punch him. That way, you can consider it settled.”
In that moment, a light, which Wang Xinghe himself didn’t even notice, flashed in his eyes.
Then it slowly faded again.
Zhao Yan looked away, crazy with jealousy.
You don’t like men? You just like Lu Jingze, right?
But Zhao Yan still couldn’t do anything about it. He just sat there in silence.
