- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 15 - Goodbye, Peach Blossom Spring
On the first floor of the noodle shop, Wang Xinghe went to the kitchen to boil water for tea.
Lu Jingze and Zhao Yan sat facing each other.
Lu Jingze warned him, “Don’t say a single word you shouldn’t.”
Zhao Yan looked at the figure still busy in the kitchen. “Is the Crown Prince just playing around, or are you serious?”
Recognizing his identity, Lu Jingze’s eyes darkened. “Just a little fun between men.”
Zhao Yan’s face immediately fell. His hands, clasped on the table, turned white at the knuckles.
“Have some tea. It’s Laoshan green tea.” Wang Xinghe poured him a cup. He also poured one for Lu Jingze.
He then sat down beside Lu Jingze and introduced them. “This is Zhao Yan. My high school deskmate.”
“Oh, a high school deskmate,” Lu Jingze said, his voice full of meaning.
“Didn’t your family move to Kyoto? Did you come back to pay respects to your ancestors?” Wang Xinghe’s eyes were filled with questions.
“I heard from a classmate that something happened to your family, so I wanted to come see you. After all, we were really good friends in high school,” Zhao Yan said, his eyes filled with concern.
Wang Xinghe smiled. “My family’s issues happened many years ago. Let’s not bring them up again.”
Zhao Yan felt regret. He blamed himself for not having the courage to contact Wang Xinghe all these years. He had missed those four most difficult years of Wang Xinghe’s life. It was no wonder that Wang Xinghe rarely replied to his messages during that time.
“Okay. Seeing that you’re doing well now, I feel relieved. Let’s get together more often in the future.” Zhao Yan swallowed all the words he had planned to say. He blamed himself for not being brave enough and for missing his chance with Wang Xinghe—the person he loved most when he was young.
He smiled bitterly and drank the bitter green tea before getting up to leave.
Lu Jingze, however, looked at Wang Xinghe. “I’ll see your classmate off.”
Wang Xinghe was full of questions.
Lu Jingze caught up with Zhao Yan. They were now surrounded by a bustling street of traffic.
Lu Jingze got straight to the point. “Don’t tell anyone I’m here. Anyone. Including your family.”
Zhao Yan also shed his sadness for Wang Xinghe and showed his claws. “Crown Prince, I’ll give you a piece of advice. Some people may seem nice and gentle, but they are also the most stubborn. If you deceive him and hurt him, he will never turn back or forgive you in this lifetime.”
“Unless, of course, the high and mighty Crown Prince was just playing around from the very beginning.” Zhao Yan left his warning and turned to leave.
Lu Jingze gritted his back teeth. He would remember this Zhao Yan.
“Aze, come back. You’re wearing slippers. You’ll catch a cold.” Wang Xinghe stood at the shop’s entrance, calling out to him.
Lu Jingze shed his hostility and turned around, walking back one step at a time.
Wang Xinghe was wearing a fluffy white sweater. The white made his already fair skin look even fairer.
Lu Jingze looked at him with a hint of guilt.
“Do you know Zhao Yan?” Wang Xinghe had seen them talking, but he hadn’t heard what they said. He could tell there was a conflict.
“Not at all. I just checked him out because anyone who likes my boyfriend is an excellent person.” Lu Jingze buried his head in Wang Xinghe’s shoulder.
Wang Xinghe pursed his lips. “You know about him…”
“I didn’t understand his feelings for me back then.”
“In high school, I was at the city’s number two high school. We were deskmates and shared a dorm, and we got along very well.”
“Our relationship was better than most people’s.”
“Later, for my birthday, he got drunk and held me, telling me he liked me. Back then, I thought it was just a brotherly kind of love, so I didn’t think much of it…”
“Maybe he saw that I was truly pure and stupid and that I really didn’t understand the love between two men, so he gave up on me.”
“After the college entrance exam, I went to Kyoto for school, and he went abroad. This is his first time coming back this year.”
“During that time, he sent me messages, but I rarely replied.”
“If it weren’t for you, I probably would never have understood that Zhao Yan’s ‘like’ was the same kind of love we share.”
Lu Jingze listened to Wang Xinghe’s honesty and his explanation. He thought of Zhao Yan’s words: that Wang Xinghe was a gentle person but very stubborn.
He felt annoyed.
It was almost the end of February. He had to leave in two weeks.
Some people in Kyoto wanted him dead, but he couldn’t die. He had to make sure they died first!
“It’s nothing. I don’t mind. Let’s finish tidying up. We’re opening tomorrow.” Lu Jingze went back to helping Wang Xinghe, just as he had for the past month.
Crackle, crackle, crackle—
The sound of firecrackers rang out. The shop was open for business.
Aunt Song, with a face full of joy, brought the first basket of steamed buns for the opening.
“Little Wang, Little Lu, here are the first buns. I wish you great luck with your business!”
Lu Jingze took the basket. “Thank you, Aunt Song.”
“Thank you, Aunt Song,” Wang Xinghe said, poking his head out from the kitchen.
“Don’t mention it. Eat them while they’re hot. I ground the pork fresh this morning.”
“Okay!” Lu Jingze said with a bright smile.
The first day of business was especially busy. All the customers looked at Lu Jingze with curiosity.
“This young man is so handsome. Is he your classmate, Little Wang?” a familiar villager asked.
Wang Xinghe waved his hand. “No, he’s a helper at the shop.”
For these older people, there was no need to say too much. Simply introducing him as a helper was better than anything else.
“Oh, that’s good. The young man has a good physique and works fast.”
Wang Xinghe smiled and gave a vague answer.
Business was particularly busy from the opening day until the fifteenth of the lunar month. The shop was constantly full of customers.
Every night, the two of them were so tired they fell asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow.
On the fifteenth, they both decided to take a half-day off.
“Aze, let’s go set off some fireworks by the sea tonight.”
Lu Jingze now just wanted to give in to his every wish. The day he had to leave his “Peach Blossom Spring” was getting closer and closer.
He wouldn’t stumble into this “Peach Blossom Spring” again.
The conflict between this sweet happiness and the imminent separation made Lu Jingze especially compliant.
On the night of the Lantern Festival, fireworks exploded in the sky.
Rows of fireworks burst into the night, as bright as stars, too beautiful to ignore.
The two of them sat side by side on the beach at the end of the village and kissed under the fireworks.
On the twentieth of the lunar month, Lu Jingze went back to the computer store.
The email had a clear reply.
[Subordinate: Master Lu, your father is holding a press conference to announce your death the day after tomorrow.]
[Subordinate: Master Lu, the manor and Ji Yuheng have agreed to a unified statement to confirm your death.]
Lu Jingze closed the laptop.
The press conference was in two days. He had to leave tonight.
He looked up at the owner of the store. “Can your car handle a long-distance trip?”
“Of course!” the owner replied without hesitation.
Lu Jingze nodded. “I’ll give you 200,000 yuan. Drive me to Kyoto.”
Lu Jingze knew he couldn’t enter the city without identification, so he added, “Just take me to the checkpoint for entering Kyoto.”
“It would be my pleasure to serve you!” The drive from here to Beijing was only seven or eight hours at most. He had been a driver for over ten years, so a seven or eight-hour drive was nothing to him.
“When do we leave?” the owner asked.
“In a bit. Wait for me for half an hour. I need to go back for a moment.”
Lu Jingze made up his mind.
He replied to the email: [Seven hours from now, at the Kyoto checkpoint, bring my documents and pick me up.]
[Subordinate: Welcome back, Master Lu!]
[Subordinate: Yes, Master Lu. We will bring all your documents.]
Some things had to be dealt with.
A clean cut is better than a messy knot. He shouldn’t let Wang Xinghe affect his emotions so much.
His life shouldn’t have a person like this in it.
Wang Xinghe looked at the person who had returned, covered in dust, and smiled as he handed him a cup of hot water. “Where have you been?”
Lu Jingze smiled without saying anything, pulling Wang Xinghe into his arms. “Brother Xinghe.”
“What is it?” Wang Xinghe hugged him back, a little helpless.
Lu Jingze sighed. “Nothing. I’ll go upstairs first.”
Wang Xinghe smiled. “Okay, get some rest.”
Lu Jingze wrote a note and placed it in the drawer of his nightstand, holding it down with his Patek Philippe watch, which was worth nearly ten million yuan.
[Brother Xinghe, if I disappear one day, don’t look for me.]
He closed the drawer and looked at the place where he had lived for two months. He looked at the bed where he had been intimate with Wang Xinghe and forced his eyes shut.
He didn’t take anything with him.
“Brother Xinghe, I’m going out for a bit. Don’t wait up for me.” Lu Jingze walked out of the shop.
“Oh, okay. Be careful,” Wang Xinghe said, waving as he always did.
From across the road, Lu Jingze looked at the noodle shop and quietly said, “Goodbye.”
