Cat Demon Raising Manual - Chapter 23
The Bad Woman Made It Hurt
Hua Wangxuan’s prediction was correct. Shen Qingyan grabbed her, stuffed her into a cat carrier, and soon arrived at the veterinary clinic.
“Hello, Doctor. I was bitten by my cat. Do I need a rabies vaccine?” Shen Qingyan’s brows were slightly furrowed, carrying a delicate, pitiable charm reminiscent of the legendary beauty Xishi.
The female veterinarian was immediately moved with compassion and asked with great seriousness, “Has your cat been vaccinated before? If not, I recommend you go to a larger hospital for a few rabies shots. However, if it’s a house cat that doesn’t go out often, it’s relatively safe.”
Without hesitation, Shen Qingyan replied, “No, I brought her here today to get her vaccinated. I’ll leave her with you for now, and I’ll come back to pick her up after I get my shots.”
The veterinarian nodded but froze slightly upon seeing Hua Wangxuan step out of the carrier. Why does this cat look so familiar?
The veterinarian muttered to herself, It seems like a young girl brought a similar long-haired calico here before for a stomach issue. Are calico cats this popular these days?
Sensing the veterinarian’s hesitation, Shen Qingyan frowned and asked, “Is there a problem?”
The veterinarian quickly waved her hands and smiled, praising, “The kitten is quite well-behaved and very pretty. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her.”
Hua Wangxuan glanced at the veterinarian, her ears drooping. Why is it this person again? Is she going to do something unspeakable to me again? Instantly rebellious, Hua Wangxuan hissed fiercely at the veterinarian.
Embarrassed by the cat’s immediate dislike, the veterinarian chuckled awkwardly, “It seems the kitten is a bit shy around strangers. What’s her name? I’ll call her by her name to help her relax.”
Shen Qingyan glanced at Hua Wangxuan, who was arching her back and puffing up her fur, and thought she was just putting on a brave front, which made her look rather adorable. She said softly to Hua Wangxuan, “Shen Xiaohua, the doctor means no harm. Don’t be angry.”
Hua Wangxuan’s ears drooped further as she buried her head under her paws.
I’m not listening, I’m not listening! Humans are the best at deceiving others. I must protect my innocence myself.
Shen Qingyan stood to the side, her voice softening, her dark eyes seeming to ripple with emotion. “Would a cat as smart, beautiful, and brave as Xiaohua in the whole world really be afraid of a simple check-up? Doctor, have you ever encountered a cat smarter, prettier, or braver than Shen Xiaohua?”
The veterinarian shook her head and sighed, playing along, “Although no other cat is as smart and pretty as Shen Xiaohua, many are braver than her.”
Hua Wangxuan secretly perked up her ears, her eyes darting around. Hearing this, she stood up unhappily and let out a low growl.
“Well, even if you’re not the bravest cat, I’ll still love you the most,” Shen Qingyan said, her brows slightly furrowed with a hint of disappointment, a forced smile in her eyes.
I am the bravest cat in the world! This is nothing but fearmongering!
Hua Wangxuan meowed incessantly, defending herself.
Even when facing the thunder tribulation, I endured the excruciating pain head-on! No one can say I’m not brave!
“Shen Xiaohua, do you disagree with what we said?” Shen Qingyan frowned, her tone changing as she glanced uncertainly at the veterinarian, who was trying hard not to laugh. “Then why are you resisting the doctor’s treatment?”
To prove he wasn’t afraid of the veterinarian, Hua Wangxuan hesitantly stepped forward, his tail deliberately hooking onto the back of the vet’s hand with a light flick, before letting out an exaggerated, high-pitched meow.
Shen Qingyan’s eyes unconsciously narrowed at the sight, the smile on her rosy lips gradually fading.
She didn’t like seeing Hua Wangxuan act intimately with others.
In the next moment, a hand reached out and gently stroked Hua Wangxuan’s head. Only when he leaned into her touch did she finally relax.
“Be good now. I’ll be back soon and buy you something delicious to eat,” Shen Qingyan reminded Hua Wangxuan before turning to the vet. “Please be careful, he’s quite delicate, so don’t hurt him.”
The vet repeatedly promised he wouldn’t.
Meanwhile, in the vegetable garden, Wu Wei, annoyed by the incessant chirping of sparrows, stormed over with a badminton racket to shoo them away.
The newly planted cat grass hadn’t even sprouted yet, she couldn’t let a flock of birds ruin it. Wu Wei bent down absentmindedly, pulling out a few weeds as her thoughts drifted elsewhere.
She sighed, feeling inexplicably restless.
She had just woken up, and the cat was already nowhere to be seen.
Was it really spring already? Were the little animals already eager to mate?
Mary was so beautiful, and she’d heard that her breed was one of the most popular among cats. Wu Wei couldn’t help but wonder which stray cat would end up winning her over. The more she thought about it, the deeper her frown became, her emotions as sour and tangled as an overturned jar of pickled vegetables.
The vet had said Mary’s bone age indicated she was still young, almost an adult but technically still a juvenile. The thought of Mary being taken advantage of by some stray cat made Wu Wei uneasy.
Underage fooling around could land you in jail. Wu Wei clenched her fists, unable to sit still.
No, she had to find Mary and take her for spaying as soon as possible. Wu Wei abruptly stood up, her expression resolute.
She would be the guardian of Mary’s chastity.
Meanwhile, Hua Wangxuan, whom Wu Wei was so worried about, stared blankly toward the door with a dazed expression.
She shouldn’t have trusted humans, they were all unreliable. They claimed to care for her and treat her, yet they had the nerve to stick a needle in her fluffy tail!
Wah, her tail felt swollen, as if it were about to burst. Would she end up like a balloon in human hands, popping into nothingness? Hua Wangxuan’s eyes welled up with tears as she hugged her tail, feeling wronged, anxious, and scared.
When Shen Qingyan hurriedly appeared at the entrance of the pet hospital, Hua Wangxuan couldn’t hold back her tears any longer.
Bad woman, she had let her get hurt!
As Shen Qingyan approached, she noticed the fur around Hua Wangxuan’s eyes was damp with tears, her gaze clouded with a misty sheen, making her look utterly pitiful.
“What’s wrong, little flower? Don’t cry. I brought you a catnip ball,” Shen Qingyan said softly, carefully wiping away Hua Wangxuan’s tears with a wet wipe before proudly presenting a vibrant green catnip ball the size of a tennis ball.
As if awakened by her most primal instincts, Hua Wangxuan forgot all about the pain in her tail and her tears the moment the catnip ball appeared. Her eyes locked onto it instantly.
Wow, so fragrant! Give it to me! Hua Wangxuan reached out a paw, snatched the catnip ball from Shen Qingyan’s palm, and eagerly bit into it.
The catnip ball fell to the floor, rolling and clattering as Hua Wangxuan chased after it like a soccer player.
Instantly, she was fully revived.
Shen Qingyan smiled faintly, then asked the approaching veterinarian, “When I arrived, I noticed Xiaohua looked a bit listless. I also looked up the potential side effects of rabies vaccines for pets. If Xiaohua shows any unusual symptoms, do you have solutions ready?”
“I don’t want to spend money just to make her suffer.” At this point, Shen Qingyan seemed to realize her tone had been a bit harsh. She covered her mouth with her fingers, let out an apologetic laugh, and cleared her throat softly.
“After all, raising a pet is like raising a child, I can’t bear to see her in discomfort. I’m sure you can understand how I feel.” A trace of melancholy touched Shen Qingyan’s brows. “Xiaohua means a lot to me, and I want to ensure she stays perfectly safe.”
“Don’t worry, Xiaohua’s parent. I’ve examined her, and her physical condition is much better than most cats. With her strong immune system, there shouldn’t be any risks. If you’re still concerned, you can contact me anytime.” The veterinarian, captivated by Shen Qingyan’s delicate, downcast gaze, immediately thumped his chest reassuringly.
It was indeed peculiar, Hua Wangxuan was genuinely healthier than other kittens. Even though she was slightly plump, her muscles were firm and well-developed.
After some back-and-forth, Shen Qingyan took the once-again slumbering Hua Wangxuan back home.
That evening, Shen Qingyan sat at her desk, the figure taking shape under her brush shifting into yet another form.
The lamplight flickered, much like the inexplicable flames that flared and died within her heart. Gazing at the finished drawing, Shen Qingyan sank into deep thought.

That day, the trending searches vanished, and posts disappeared.
That same night, Bo Xianxing received a high-end luxury watch endorsement contract, coveted by everyone in the industry, personally sent by Sheng Mingshu, the head of Shenming Entertainment. Attached was a comforting message: Sweetheart, I’ll give you whatever you want.
Li Yun, the acclaimed actress known as the “Unattainable Flower,” used her famously elegant, slender fingers to grip Bo Xianxing’s slender waist. Leaning close, she nuzzled Bo’s nose and murmured in a slightly hoarse voice, “I had no idea she was your junior. We just happened to be on the same show, I was a mentor.”
The next day, Weng Keyi, the rising young director who had just returned from receiving an award abroad, canceled all his social engagements. Dusty and weary, he swept Bo Xianxing into an embrace, his rough fingertips tracing her fair collarbone as he breathed heavily, “I’ll have the award-winning actress play a supporting role for you. You are my best leading lady.”
Bo Xianxing glanced coldly at the compensations offered by her patrons and sneered, “It really doesn’t pay to put all your eggs in one basket.”
Meanwhile, the junior who had appeared in the rumors laid out secretly taken photos of Bo Xianxing’s intimate moments with her patrons. Her eyes burned with greed and obsession as she said, “Leave them. I can offer you something better.”
Bo Xianxing gripped Han Yingzi’s vulnerable neck, her aura fierce and menacing. “And what if I refuse?”
Han Yingzi chuckled deliriously, her eyes filled with dark, damp desire. “I’m sure Ms. Bo wouldn’t want them to find out you have more than one patron, would you?”
