- Chapter 4 - You Are Lying
[Shi Yu, you are lying. It is clear that you bought those yourself. Your habit of carrying a few candies with you has never changed since you started chasing He Xingzhi.]
“3875, you talk too much,” Shi Yu said calmly.
[I think he still likes you. Why don’t the two of you just rekindle your old flame?]
“I do not like those kinds of jokes,” Shi Yu’s tone became serious.
The system timidly fell silent.
The flight lasted a total of three hours. The two men got off the plane one after the other. He Xingzhi intentionally loitered behind.
Although Shi Yu was incredibly famous, he rarely showed his face in public. With a simple disguise, he could easily blend into the crowd. More importantly, his fans had been neglected for so many years that they had never managed to attend an offline event. Therefore, even if rumors of his flight information leaked, few fans took them seriously.
Because of this, when Shi Yu exited the airport, there were no passionate fans blocking his way. He successfully boarded the car sent by the production team.
He Xingzhi, however, was a different story. It was as if Tang Sanzang had arrived in the Kingdom of Women; he was instantly submerged in a sea of female fans.
“Brother He, I want to have your babies!” A fan’s loud voice carried immense piercing power.
Shi Yu had already boarded the car and did not hear that shout. Consequently, he did not see the dark and terrifying look in He Xingzhi’s eyes the moment he saw Shi Yu enter the production team’s vehicle.
“Teacher Shi Yu, it was a long journey. Would you like some coffee?” On the production car, aside from the driver, there was an assistant responsible for reception and a camera operator.
The assistant assigned to Shi Yu was a female intern who had just graduated from university. She had short, ear-length hair and looked both cute and capable. Shi Yu habitually looked at the name tag on her chest, which had two lines of text.
The first line: Accompanying Assistant. The second line: Anna.
“Anna, thank you, but I do not want to drink anything right now.” Shi Yu’s voice matched his image: clear as water, gentle, and pleasant to the ear.
Anna did not expect to be called by name, especially by such a beautiful voice while facing such a peerlessly handsome face. She immediately became excited.
“Teacher Shi Yu, I am your fan! I have liked you since you debuted. When I found out a few days ago that you signed with the show and it happened to be my turn to be your assistant, I was so happy I could not sleep.”
Anna continued to chatter on, but Shi Yu raised his hand to interrupt her. “Thank you for your support, but I would like to rest for a moment.”
Anna’s face instantly turned bright red as she backed away. “Right, okay. I am sorry. I was just too excited.”
Shi Yu replied, “It is fine.”
As they were about to get out of the car, Shi Yu said to the camera operator, “Please delete the segment recorded in the car just now. Thank you.”
The cameraman thought Shi Yu was referring to the moment he interrupted his fan, fearing that releasing it would damage his image. However, in the next moment, Shi Yu gave him a specific time range, accurate to the second.
The photographer froze. When he checked the playback, he found it was exactly the segment where the assistant was speaking excitedly.
Is this man a walking clock? This is too accurate.
“Teacher Shi Yu, are you worried that releasing this will cause fans to attack the assistant?” the cameraman asked cautiously.
After working in this industry for a long time, he had learned to be prudent when dealing with big-name artists. He feared encountering those who acted like divas; if he accidentally offended one, his livelihood could be at stake.
“I simply do not like that content,” Shi Yu said before stepping out of the car.
Before the photographer could react, Anna, the assistant, covered her mouth and began to cry. “He is still as gentle as he was when he first debuted.”
The photographer finally understood and stared at Shi Yu’s retreating figure for a long time. He had been in this business for over a decade and had met many people in the industry, but this was the first time he had encountered such a famous artist who actually looked out for an unknown intern. He even thought that far ahead.
The photographer looked at Anna and said, “I think I finally know why he has so many true fans despite rarely showing his face.”
Anna puffed out her chest with immense pride. “Of course! Brother Shi is wonderful. Once you know him well enough, you will definitely be conquered by his charisma!”
On the other side.
Ever since Shi Yu boarded the vehicle for the “100 Days of Love Contract” team, He Xingzhi’s expression had turned sour. His face remained dark and he did not even accept the letters handed to him by fans. His assistant had to rush to take them instead.
With the assistant clearing a path, it took nearly half an hour before He Xingzhi finally sat in the car sent by the production team. Because he exuded an aura that screamed “do not come near me” and “I am angry right now,” the accompanying assistant did not dare to approach him. In the end, his own assistant handled the pleasantries.
He Xingzhi sat in his seat. Feeling disgruntled, he snapped at the camera pointed at him, “The show has not even started filming yet. What are you recording?”
The cameraman was a young man who had been stunned by He Xingzhi’s god-like beauty. Suddenly being snapped at for no reason, he apologized sheepishly. “I am sorry, Teacher He Xingzhi. The content we are filming now will not be in the main episode. It is only for behind-the-scenes footage or extra content.”
The assistant saw that He Xingzhi had been in a bad mood and realized he did not want to be filmed. He stopped the cameraman, saying, “I am very sorry. Brother He did not rest well last night and he has a very bad case of morning crankiness.”
The “morning crankiness” was a lie. It was merely a polite excuse to give everyone a way out. They all understood. The cameraman tactfully turned off the camera.
He Xingzhi kept a sour face until the car arrived at the recording location.
“Give me a candy,” He Xingzhi said with a dark expression, reaching out to his assistant.
The assistant pulled a strawberry milk-flavored candy from his pocket, but it was not the same brand as the one Shi Yu had given him on the plane.
He asked angrily, “Where is the Hsu Fu Chi?”
The assistant felt a cold sweat. “The shop I went to did not have Hsu Fu Chi.”
He Xingzhi settled for it and peeled it open. As soon as he put it in his mouth, he crunched the hard candy into pieces, making a loud cracking sound. His expression made it look as if he were biting someone to vent his frustration.
The assistant shrank into the back seat, feeling small and helpless. He pulled out his phone and sent a message to the manager, Sister Kelly.
[Assistant Xiao Zhang]: Sister Kelly, things are bad.
[Assistant Xiao Zhang]: Brother He’s ex-boyfriend is also participating in the variety show.
[Assistant Xiao Zhang]: Brother He was on the same flight as that person just now. They were both in business class and got off the plane together. Brother He kept following him and staring at the back of his head. It might have been captured by fans.
[Sister Kelly]: Dammit. I knew nothing good would happen when that troublemaker agreed to this show.
[Assistant Xiao Zhang]: Brother He did not seem to know the other person was recording this show. After getting off the plane, he saw that person get into the production car and has been sulking ever since. He is being temperamental and refusing to cooperate with the pre-filming footage. Oh, also, he has started eating candy.
