- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 73 - The Secret Beneath the Pit
“Lord, something terrible has happened! Rosso sent word, someone attempted to assassinate Mi Yue.”
Claude was hunting in the forest outside Lion City when the beast-servant delivered the urgent report. The prey he had just caught slipped away upon hearing the news.
The beast-servant’s voice trembled slightly, clearly shaken by the message. He knew how important the young female Mi Yue was to Claude.
Sure enough, the moment the words were spoken, an icy chill descended around them.
Claude’s usually gentle eyes flashed with murderous intent. Without a word, he turned and strode toward Mi Yue’s stone house. The beast-servants following him were too terrified to make a sound.
Upon arriving at the courtyard of Mi Yue’s dwelling, the scene before them was one of chaos, evidence of a recent struggle.
Claude’s expression darkened further as his gaze swept over every beast-servant stationed at Mi Yue’s residence. Those who had already been hanging their heads now didn’t dare even breathe.
“Speak. Who was responsible?”
Claude’s voice was low and commanding, each word striking like a hammer against their hearts.
The beast-servants exchanged uneasy glances, none daring to answer.
Seeing this, a flicker of rage passed through Claude’s eyes.
“Fine. If none of you will talk, then none of you will live. Let’s see how long you can keep your mouths shut.”
Suddenly, the System’s voice echoed urgently in Mi Yue’s mind.
[Host, feeding target Claude is experiencing emotional fluctuations, showing signs of corruption. Please pacify him immediately.]
Mi Yue paused briefly at the System’s alert before stepping out of the stone house. Softly, she called to Claude.
“Claude, I’m alright.”
“These beast-servants are innocent. Not all of them could be Mikayla’s people. If you kill them in anger, you’d only be playing right into Mikayla’s hands.”
Hearing her words, Claude’s fury subsided, and clarity returned to his mind.
After a moment, he took a deep breath, though his voice still carried traces of anger. “But they failed in their duty. If they had been vigilant, how could a spy have slipped in? How could you have been put in danger?”
“Yes, they did fail,” Mi Yue conceded. “Here’s what we’ll do: once we confirm they aren’t spies, punish each with thirty lashes. That should teach them a lesson.”
Her words flowed like a warm current, soothing Claude’s heart.
His gaze softened as he looked at her, the tenderness in his eyes gradually returning.
Finally, he gave a slight nod, accepting her suggestion.
The beast-servants, witnessing this, dropped to their knees in gratitude.
“Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lady Mi Yue!”
Even though they would endure the lashings, they knew Mi Yue’s intervention had spared their lives. Without her, death would have been their only fate.
[System detects that feeding target Claude’s corruption risk has been resolved. Well done, Host.]

Claude turned to Mi Yue. “Mi Yue, don’t worry. I will get to the bottom of Uncle’s involvement. I promise you justice.”
Mi Yue nodded in support. “Good. I trust you.”
She understood that Claude’s resolve was for the peace and justice of Lion City.
And so, the two joined forces to uncover Mikayla’s dark secrets.
After some investigation, Claude quickly uncovered evidence of Mikayla’s crimes.
It turned out that Mikayla had been secretly abducting young females of blue rank and above for years, attempting to breed powerful offspring through genetic superiority.
As for those cubs with mediocre talents below blue rank, he showed no mercy, brutally killing them.
These cruel actions left both Claude and Mi Yue shocked and furious.
That day, a messenger rushed in, his expression tense. “City Lord, it’s bad. The young female at Mikayla’s residence is about to give birth.”
Claude saw this as the perfect opportunity to catch his uncle red-handed.
He and Mi Yue quickly devised a plan to expose Mikayla’s true nature after the cub was born.
Meanwhile, in the stone house where Mikayla resided, a sharp cry announced the arrival of a new life.
An elderly female joyfully carried the lion cub out of the room. “Second Elder, it’s a healthy cub.”
Without hesitation, Mikayla snatched the cub from her arms and strode away, not even sparing a glance at the young female who had just endured a difficult birth.
He took the cub to the shaman’s dwelling, eager to assess its potential.
After a careful examination, the shaman shook his head and said gravely, “Second Elder, this cub’s talent suggests it will reach blue rank at best. Anything beyond that… seems unlikely.”
Mikayla’s face darkened instantly.
He couldn’t accept this, his long-awaited cub would only reach blue rank. Disappointed, he turned and left the shaman’s dwelling without another word.
“Elders, please follow me.”
Claude’s voice echoed through the dim stone chamber as two revered elders stood beside him, their expressions solemn.
“City Lord, are you certain of your suspicions?”
The Third Elder’s voice carried a hint of doubt. After all, Mikayla was a respected elder, any mishap could have dire consequences.
“I have irrefutable evidence. I will show you now.”
Claude clenched his fists, his gaze resolute. “I will not tolerate Mikayla’s inhuman actions.”
“Very well. If what you say is true, and he has indeed harmed Lion City, we will not stand in your way of delivering justice.”
Under the ink-black night sky, on a hill outside Lion City, the group witnessed an unspeakable atrocity.
Mikayla was about to hurl a small lion cub into a bottomless pit.
“Don’t blame me for being cruel, little one. If you can’t reach blue rank, it’s better to die now than live without dignity.”
“STOP!”
Claude’s furious roar cut through the air as he lunged forward, snatching the cub from Mikayla’s grasp.
The tiny cub whimpered weakly, still trembling from its brush with death.
“Uncle, he’s just a cub, how could you bear to kill him? Isn’t he your own flesh and blood?”
Mikayla’s face turned deathly pale. He forced composure, scrambling for an excuse.
“I, I just slipped! I wasn’t trying to kill him!”
“More importantly, why are you all here?”
Claude snorted coldly, “A slip of the hand? Then how do you explain this deep pit? If you’ve done nothing wrong, why would you be afraid of us following you?”
“This…” Mikayla could only think about how to explain, but couldn’t come up with anything right away.
Then he waved his hand, signaling the beast servants behind him to start digging.
Mikayla hurried forward to stop them, not wanting the others to discover his secret. “What are you doing? You’re not allowed to touch this!”
“Not allowed? So, you do have a guilty conscience. What unspeakable thing are you hiding here?” Claude continued to press aggressively.
