- Chapter 69 - Claude’s Scent on Mi Yue
Aside from the initial pain, she felt nothing at all.
But Claude knew, his scent had already imprinted itself within Mi Yue’s body.
Mated females carried the scent of their males, something males could easily detect.
Claude glanced at his arm, where a beast mark had appeared, a small black tiger, the mark of a mate. It signified that Claude was now Mi Yue’s partner.
Even if it was just pretend.
Mi Yue couldn’t help but marvel at the wonders of the beast world.
Both of them stared at the little black tiger, as though witnessing something extraordinary.
Just when Mi Yue thought it was over, Claude took out a black fruit.
The fruit looked mysterious, the kind that would make anyone hesitate before eating it if they didn’t know its purpose.
But Claude didn’t hesitate at all. He opened his mouth and swallowed it whole.
Mi Yue was puzzled, but Claude explained, “This is the final step. Once the little tiger turns red, the process will be complete.”
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, the black mark on Claude’s left arm slowly turned pink.
Mi Yue watched in astonishment, this was unbelievable!
Now she wasn’t just Claude’s little mate, she was also carrying his child. It was truly surreal.
Three days passed, and the entire Lion City waited eagerly for the appearance of their tribe chief’s mate.
The most talked-about topic in the city these days was the tribe chief’s mysterious little mate.
Many speculated about her appearance, some said she was even more beautiful than the females Mikayla had brought that day, while others weren’t so sure. Regardless, everyone was excited for the day the tribe chief would make the announcement.
Claude had spread the word that he would hold a banquet today, and his little mate would make her debut.
Many of the invited clansmen arrived early, eager to catch a glimpse of the tribe chief’s mate.
Vasali had also come early. Like everyone else, she was curious about this so-called tribe chief’s mate.
But she already knew it was fake, she was just curious to see who her brother had chosen to play the role.
Over the past three days, she had tried to find out more, but her brother had kept it tightly under wraps, refusing to reveal the identity. That only made her anticipation grow.
At the banquet, everyone was distracted. Every male’s conversation revolved around the tribe chief’s little mate. Vasali crossed her arms and smirked to herself, amused by the scene.
Finally, under everyone’s expectant gazes, Claude slowly entered the stone hall, leading a small female by the hand.
At first, Claude blocked her from view, making it hard to see.
Some impatient clansmen even stood on their tiptoes to get a better look.
“What does she look like?”
Ignoring the curious stares, Claude gently pulled Mi Yue to his side, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with her. In a clear voice, he announced, “This is my mate. Her name is Mi Yue, and from now on, she is the chieftainess of Lion City.”
Mi Yue lifted her head gracefully, revealing a delicate, fair face.
While the other males remained stunned, Vasali’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at the woman standing so intimately beside her brother.
It was her.
Xiu Ka’s former mate.
Who would have thought it would be her?
Vasali was both angry and anxious, but seeing her brother’s smiling face and the rising and falling voices around her, she could only swallow her frustration.
Now was not the time. She couldn’t undermine her brother, or it would only benefit their second uncle.
Her fingers dug into her palms as she struggled to control her emotions.
Xiu Ka stood in a corner of the banquet, his gaze involuntarily following Mi Yue’s figure.
The air was filled with the aroma of various dishes and the lively atmosphere of the feast.
Yet, amidst the jumble of scents, he unexpectedly caught a whiff of something unusual, an unmistakable trace of Claude’s masculine scent lingering on Mi Yue.
It struck him like an electric current, sending a jolt through his body and freezing him in place.
He tried to ignore the sudden impact, but the scent seemed to have a will of its own, forcing its way into his senses.
Xiu Ka bitterly cursed his keen sense of smell. At this moment, he wished he couldn’t smell anything at all!
The overpowering scent silently declared the intimacy and understanding between them.
His gaze darkened as it lingered on Mi Yue and Claude, especially when he caught sight of the faint red mate mark on Claude’s arm. A pang of bitterness twisted in his chest.
He knew he had no right to say anything, so he could only bury his emotions deep within.
Just then, a voice only Mi Yue could hear rang in her ears, the distinct notification tone of the system.
[Detected emotional fluctuations in Xiu Ka. Host, please provide comfort.]
The system’s voice echoed repeatedly in Mi Yue’s mind.
She frowned slightly, a trace of worry flashing through her heart as she whispered to the system, “Given the current situation, if I don’t comfort him, will Xiu Ka head down the path of corruption?”
After a quick analysis, the system replied in its calm, objective tone.
[Xiu Ka currently shows no signs of corruption. His emotional fluctuations are within the normal range.]
Hearing this, Mi Yue relaxed slightly and exhaled softly. “Then there’s no need to intervene for now.”
At that moment, Mi Yue was the center of attention, but Mikayla’s sudden remark shattered the atmosphere.
“So, your name is Mi Yue? I heard from Claude that you’re expecting. Is that true?” Mikayla smiled, her emerald-green eyes drifting to Mi Yue’s slightly rounded belly.
Mi Yue smiled faintly. “It’s true.”
“Oh? But from what I know, you appeared suddenly in Lion City, and you’ve been here for less than a month. How can you be so sure you’re pregnant?”
“Claude’s heir is a matter of great importance to the family. We can’t afford any carelessness. Why not let my family’s physician examine you to confirm the situation?”
Though displeased, Mi Yue maintained a composed smile.
Claude, noticing Mikayla’s intentions, frowned and prepared to refuse.
“Second Uncle, Mi Yue is already in good health. There’s no need to trouble your physician.”
Mikayla’s expression darkened. “Your heir concerns the entire Lion City. This is no trivial matter. Physician, go and examine her.”
Unable to argue further, Claude reluctantly conceded. “Fine. We appreciate your concern, Second Uncle.”
At Mikayla’s command, a white-haired physician slowly entered the banquet hall. His gaze lingered on Mi Yue for a moment before he approached her.
“Extend your hand. I will take your pulse.”
The physician’s voice was gentle yet professional as he lightly placed his fingers on Mi Yue’s wrist, closing his eyes in concentration to carefully discern the subtle shifts in her pulse.
After a brief moment, his brow lifted slightly, as if he had discovered something unexpected.
When he opened his eyes again, his gaze held a trace of astonishment as he looked at Mi Yue.
“City Lord, this young female is indeed with child.”
The announcement sent a ripple of shock through the crowd.
“How far along is she? Physician, can you determine how long she has been pregnant?” Mikayla asked, his voice laced with doubt.
