- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 59 - Bringing the Baby Sharks Back to the Inner Sea of the Beast World
By the time Xiu Ka finally finished, it was already deep into the night.
Mi Yue had long since succumbed to exhaustion and fallen into a deep sleep. Xiu Ka held her tightly in his arms, his heart brimming with warmth and sweetness.
In her slumber, Mi Yue faintly heard the system calling out to her.
[Host, wake up, wake up! Red alert!]
“What’s wrong?”
Still half-asleep, Mi Yue responded to the system.
[Host, the baby sharks are showing abnormal vital signs.]
Mi Yue jolted awake instantly.
Her eyes flew open, and she scrambled to get up, her frantic movements startling Xiu Ka awake.
“What’s wrong, Mi Yue? Did something happen?”
Xiu Ka sat up as well, noticing the tension in Mi Yue’s expression, which immediately made him worry.
“The baby sharks are in trouble. I need to find Xing Chi right away.”
Mi Yue replied as she hastily pulled on her clothes.
“Don’t panic. Xing Chi is right outside, you can find him as soon as you step out.”
“Xing Chi is outside? He’s been out there all night?”
Mi Yue turned to look at Xiu Ka, who nodded in confirmation.
A wave of embarrassment washed over her. If Xing Chi had been outside the whole time, that meant he must have heard everything, every sound of her and Xiu Ka’s mating.
Her cheeks flushed involuntarily.
She remembered that she had intended to comfort Xing Chi earlier, but Xiu Ka had been too overwhelming, and she hadn’t been able to break free. She had no idea how Xing Chi had taken it afterward.
But there was no time to dwell on it now. Once dressed, Mi Yue hurriedly pushed open the door of the grass hut, only to find Xing Chi standing right outside.
“Xing Chi.”
“What’s wrong with the babies?” Xing Chi asked urgently.
He had woken up upon hearing the commotion inside the hut and had overheard Mi Yue and Xiu Ka’s conversation. The moment he learned the baby sharks were in danger, he rushed to find her.
“I don’t know what’s happening to them. I just sensed their vital signs dropping rapidly, and I’m worried.”
“Then let’s go check on them right away.” Xing Chi was equally concerned, after all, they were his offspring too.
“I’ll take you back now to see what’s going on at the hillside villa.”
Mi Yue didn’t move immediately, though. She glanced back at Xiu Ka, still standing at the doorway.
If she left just like that, what would happen to him?
“It’s fine. The babies are more important. Go check on them, don’t worry about me.”
Xiu Ka smiled reassuringly at Mi Yue, urging her to go.
He knew Mi Yue and Xing Chi shared secrets, and unless she chose to tell him, he would never pry.
“Are you sure?” Mi Yue asked.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be fine. My injuries have healed a lot, and I can take care of myself.”
“Alright, then you must stay safe. Contact me if anything happens.”
With some reluctance, Mi Yue finally let go of her worries and took Xing Chi’s hand, returning to the hillside villa.
The moment they arrived, both of them sprinted toward the pool in the backyard where they had left the baby sharks. Logically, there shouldn’t have been any issues.
“None of them are missing, but they don’t look well.”
Xing Chi counted the baby sharks and confirmed none were missing, but each one seemed listless, swimming aimlessly in the pool at an extremely slow pace. A few of them barely even moved.
“Could they be too weak from hunger since they haven’t eaten in so long?”
Mi Yue remembered that in their haste earlier, they hadn’t prepared much food for the baby sharks.
She quickly drove out to buy a large batch of small fish and shrimp, then tossed them into the pool.
The baby sharks did swim toward the food, but after taking a few bites, they stopped eating.
Out of the ten baby sharks, not even half of the fish and shrimp were consumed. They all just floated in the water, barely moving.
“Strange, if they’re not hungry, then what’s wrong?” Mi Yue was utterly puzzled.
Xing Chi jumped straight into the pool. After swimming a couple of laps, he felt he had identified the issue.
“There’s something wrong with the water.”
“What? The water?” Mi Yue tensed up.
“No, it’s the water quality.”
Xing Chi explained.
Mi Yue immediately took out her phone and called the nearest aquarium, asking them to deliver seawater as quickly as possible. She even offered to pay double the price to expedite the delivery.
Money talks, even aquarium employees could be motivated to move faster with enough incentive.
Before long, the doorbell of the hillside villa rang.
Mi Yue hurried to let them in and directed them to pour the seawater into the pool.
Since Mi Yue had paid so generously, the aquarium even threw in a cleaning service, thoroughly scrubbing the pool before refilling it with fresh seawater.
Despite the new, high-quality seawater, the baby sharks showed little improvement.
They did start swimming around, but their movements were still sluggish. Mi Yue could tell the root issue hadn’t been resolved.
What was the real problem?
Mi Yue racked her brain but couldn’t figure it out.
Then it hit her, the system.
If she didn’t know, the system surely would.
“System, why do the baby sharks look so sickly?”
[Host, because the baby sharks are foreign creatures. They’ve stayed in the modern world for too long, and it’s affecting them severely. Negative symptoms are already appearing.]
[Host, the baby sharks must return to the ocean in the Beast World. Otherwise, their condition will only worsen.]
“So that’s it.” Xing Chi noticed Mi Yue muttering to herself and quickly approached.
“What is it, Mi Yue? Did you figure it out?”
“Yes, I know how to save them now. Gather all the baby sharks, we’re going back to the Beast World.”
Without hesitation, Xing Chi found a bucket and carefully placed all the baby sharks inside.
Mi Yue, Xing Chi, and the baby sharks returned to the Beast World.
“Mi Yue, what do we do now?”
Xing Chi looked at her. The baby sharks, now confined in the bucket, seemed even more lethargic.
“They need to be released into the ocean, but finding the sea now would take too long.”
“Don’t worry. If we can’t reach the ocean, we can find a river. Most rivers flow into the sea, the baby sharks can swim back to the ocean themselves.”
Mi Yue nodded. That could work.
After all, finding a river is easier than finding an ocean.
Xing Chi, being particularly sensitive to water, quickly discovered a river.
This river was sizable, with a strong current.
“Following this river should lead us back. Xing Chi, why don’t you take the baby sharks back to the inner sea first?”
Mi Yue looked at Xing Chi.
“After all, the water here is freshwater, and the baby sharks will recover faster in seawater.”
“You’re fast, you can get them back sooner. If we let them swim back on their own, who knows how long it would take? And there might be dangers along the way…”
