- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 42 - Shaman Yue, Me or Xing Chi?
For the past few days, Xing Chi had been lying in bed with very little water contact. No wonder his skin had started to crack.
It was all her fault. She had been so worried about Xing Chi’s injuries that she completely overlooked his fundamental need as a sea creature, water.
Fortunately, the IV fluids he received over the last couple of days had somewhat compensated for his dehydration.
But given the current situation, IV fluids alone wouldn’t be enough to replenish Xing Chi’s parched body.
Mi Yue decided to take him back to the hillside villa. She asked two caregivers to help carry Xing Chi into the car.
The two caregivers hesitated. Since they had started tending to this patient, he had never woken up. Was it really okay to move him now?
But the employer insisted, so they had no choice but to assist.
As soon as they arrived at the villa, Mi Yue carefully placed Xing Chi into the outdoor swimming pool.
The moment Xing Chi touched the water, his cracked skin immediately began to heal.
After soaking for a while, Xing Chi’s eyelids fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.
“Thank goodness, you’re finally awake!”
Relieved to see him conscious, Mi Yue let out a sigh, only to frown again.
Xing Chi’s wounds had come into contact with water, which could lead to infection.
Moreover, though the pool water was changed frequently, it was still an outdoor pool, hardly pristine.
“Where am I? What happened to me?”
Having been unconscious for so long, Xing Chi seemed to have no memory of recent events.
“You were injured. Let me help you up. I’ll call a doctor to tend to your wounds again,” Mi Yue explained briefly.
A flood of memories rushed back into Xing Chi’s mind. He remembered now.
He had been hurt, slashed brutally by those males. No wonder he felt a dull ache all over. Looking down, he saw the bandages wrapped around him.
Mi Yue dried Xing Chi off and helped him into the bedroom.
“What’s this? Why is it wrapped around me?” Xing Chi eyed the bandages curiously.
“It’s called a bandage, it helps heal your wounds. Don’t touch them, or it’ll slow down your recovery.”
At her words, Xing Chi suddenly felt the pain.
Earlier, submerged in water, he had only felt relief, his body finally at ease, completely forgetting about his injuries.
Mi Yue took out her phone and called the hospital director again.
“Director, I’ve brought Xing Chi back to the hillside villa. Can you send two doctors to treat his wounds?”
“Ms. Mi! How could you take him back when he hasn’t even woken up? This is reckless!”
The director was practically jumping in frustration.
This patient had been in a prolonged coma, an abnormal state that could be life-threatening. And now Mi Yue had taken him back to the villa!
If anything went wrong, emergency care would be impossible.
“Don’t worry, Director. I know what I’m doing. Besides, he’s already awake.”
“But his wounds got wet, and I’m worried about infection. Please send someone over quickly.”
With that, Mi Yue hung up, leaving the director stunned on the other end.
Then came the anger, these wealthy people truly didn’t take life seriously.
Shouldn’t the first thing after a patient wakes up be to call a doctor to check on them? How could they just take him straight home?
The hospital director arranged for several doctors and nurses to go to Mi Yue’s hillside villa.
At the same time, he picked up his phone and dialed a number.
“Hello, Director?”
Li Xiangyang’s voice came through the phone.
“President Xiangyang, Ms. Mi has taken that injured man back to her home…”
“Alright, I understand.”
Li Xiangyang acknowledged and then hung up.
Just then, the assistant from the CEO’s office knocked and entered.
“Boss, there’s no information at all about what you asked me to look into. This Xing Chi is very strange, I’ve tried every method but can’t find even a trace of his background. It’s like he appeared out of thin air.”
Appeared out of thin air?
Li Xiangyang fell into thought.
He had originally been worried about the man’s identity, suspecting he might be involved in shady dealings and fearing Mi Yue would get dragged into trouble.
But now, it turned out he didn’t even have an identity, he just appeared out of nowhere!
“How is it possible for a living person to leave no trace at all? Keep digging. You must find something.”
“Understood, Boss.”
The assistant left and closed the door behind him.
Meanwhile, at the hillside villa.
Mi Yue stood by, watching as the doctors treated Xing Chi’s injuries.
After soaking in water, the bandages on Xing Chi’s body had all become wet and were now stuck to his skin. Removing them inevitably aggravated his wounds.
He clenched his teeth, enduring the pain, a layer of fine sweat breaking out on his forehead.
The sight was heartbreaking for Mi Yue, but there was no other way, Xing Chi had to soak in water, and with such extensive injuries, it was nearly impossible to avoid getting them wet.
But Xing Chi’s condition wasn’t the only thing troubling Mi Yue. She could sense that Xiu Ka’s emotions were also very unstable, undoubtedly because she had been delayed in returning to the Beast World, leaving him deeply worried.
Xiu Ka’s emotional fluctuations were growing stronger and more frequent.
“This can’t go on. I should go back and check on him first.”
Mi Yue murmured to herself.
By then, the doctors had finished treating Xing Chi’s wounds, even using waterproof bandages. After giving a few instructions on post-treatment care, they left.
Exhausted from the pain, Xing Chi fell into a deep sleep on the bed.
Mi Yue checked his condition, confirming he wasn’t running a fever and that his vital signs were stable, before returning to the Beast World.
The moment she arrived, she hurried to find Xiu Ka.
“Shaman Yue, you’re back.”
Xiu Ka was overjoyed to see Mi Yue suddenly appear before him.
During her prolonged absence, he had been genuinely worried sick.
(Yes, I’m back.) Mi Yue looked at Xiu Ka, a smile curling at the corners of her lips.
Xiu Ka immediately rushed over, inspecting Mi Yue from head to toe, unwilling to overlook even the smallest wound.
“Are you hurt? It’s all my fault, I should have gone with you.”
His voice was thick with concern. Mi Yue took Xiu Ka’s hands, stopping his frantic examination.
She shook her head sincerely, her gaze steady. (Don’t worry, I’m really fine.)
Mi Yue repeatedly assured him she was unharmed, and only after Xiu Ka confirmed she was truly safe did he relax slightly.
“As long as you’re alright, don’t leave my sight again. I’ll worry.”
Xiu Ka tightened his grip on Mi Yue’s hands, pulling her into a fierce embrace. His hold was so strong it felt as though he wanted to meld her into his very bones.
Mi Yue waved her hands repeatedly. (No, Xing Chi isn’t out of danger yet. His injuries are still very serious, and I need to continue taking care of him.)
Hearing Mi Yue say she had to go back to care for Xing Chi, Xiu Ka felt waves of disappointment.
A pang of jealousy rose in his heart, his emerald eyes darkening. “Shaman Yue, in your heart, who is more important, me or Xing Chi?”
