- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 34 - Competition Arrives
“Even if it’s just red crystal beads, I earned them through hard work. Of course I’m happy with what I’ve earned.”
Mi Yue remained cheerful, brushing off Xing Chi’s words.
With their goods sold out, the two packed up their stall and returned to the stone house.
Though they were temporarily staying at Xiu Ka’s parents’ home, the beast servants still treated Xing Chi, a blue-level male, with great respect.
Spotting Xing Chi and Mi Yue from afar, the servants hurried to report their return to Bu Tai.
“They’re back?”
The moment Bu Tai heard Xing Chi and Mi Yue had returned, he immediately stood up.
“Yes, Lord Xing Chi and the other just arrived. They should be entering the main gate now,” the beast servant replied.
“Good. Bring my children and prepare some fruits. We’ll go see Lord Xing Chi right away.”
“Yes.” The servant bowed and quickly went to gather the fruits.
Xing Chi and Mi Yue had just settled in to rest when a knock sounded at the door.
Xing Chi went to answer it and found Bu Tai standing there with his sons. A servant behind them held a small tray of bright red fruits.
“What is this?”
“Lord Xing Chi, this is a token of my apology.”
“I deeply regret last night’s incident. Ge Lia is young and spoiled, and she behaved rudely. I’ve come specifically to apologize.”
“These are rare and precious fruits. Please accept them.”
Mi Yue stepped forward and saw the group at the door.
Her eyes landed on the fruits, she recognized them instantly. Weren’t these the same fruits she had just sold at the market?
Who would’ve thought they’d end up back in her hands after being sold?
She couldn’t suppress a smile and secretly winked at Xing Chi.
Xing Chi shot her a reproachful glance, though his expression remained cold and unreadable.
“I’ll let it pass this time, but there won’t be a next chance,” he said coolly, his voice devoid of emotion.
Bu Tai thanked him profusely and instructed the servant to bring the fruits inside.
“Lord Xing Chi, do you know how to quickly gain strength? Like you!”
Xing Chi looked down at the source of the voice.
It was Ma Qi, Bu Tai’s fifth son and Xiu Ka’s youngest brother. At just ten years old, he was already at the green level.
“Like me?” Xing Chi repeated.
The ten-year-old Ma Qi nodded firmly.
He aspired to be as strong as Lord Xing Chi. Though he had reached the green level, he wasn’t content to stay there, he was desperate to grow stronger.
“Improving strength requires hard training, but breaking through the green level requires talent.”
“Without talent, it’s futile.”
Xing Chi’s gaze swept over the males present. Their innate potential limited them to the green level.
His words were harsh on Ma Qi, whose face fell instantly.
For males, strength was the ultimate pursuit. Without it, they would be looked down upon.
But Lord Xing Chi had said talent was crucial, he himself had relied on it.
If they truly had such talent, would Bu Tai and his older sons still be stuck at the green level?
Clearly not.
The other young males also showed disappointed expressions upon hearing Xing Chi’s answer.
If it was just a matter of not working hard enough, they could push themselves harder.
But what if they lacked the talent, or if their talent wasn’t sufficient? What could they do then?
“Sorry to disturb you, Lord Xing Chi. Please rest well. We’ll take our leave now.” Bu Tai led his sons away.
The next day, Mi Yue and Xing Chi continued selling fruits on the streets.
When they arrived at their previous stall, they found it already occupied.
Upon closer inspection, they saw that the person was also selling fruits and shouting loudly to attract customers.
Seeing their spot taken, Xing Chi instinctively clenched his fists.
Their territory had been snatched, how could he tolerate this?
Just as Xing Chi was about to charge forward and beat the male to a pulp, Mi Yue quickly grabbed his fist.
Her small, pale hand couldn’t even fully wrap around Xing Chi’s.
Xing Chi lowered his head to look at Mi Yue, his eyes burning with fury, itching to tear apart the one who had stolen their spot.
Back in the sea, no one would dare take Lord Xing Chi’s territory!
Mi Yue stared firmly into Xing Chi’s eyes and shook her head.
They couldn’t act impulsively now. If they started a fight here, it would surely cause a big commotion.
She didn’t want any unnecessary trouble.
“Not only did this guy take our spot, but he’s also copying you.”
Xing Chi was furious. The male who had taken their stall wasn’t just selling fruits like them, he had even lowered his prices to match theirs.
Eleven fruits for just one red crystal bead, twenty-five fruits for two red crystal beads.
This was going too far.
“It’s fine, Xing Chi. If he wants the spot, let him have it. If he wants to copy us, let him. We’ll just find another place to set up.”
With that, Mi Yue turned to look for another suitable spot on the street.
Xing Chi was still seething. Seeing the crowd gathered around the stolen stall and the male happily making sales, his anger only grew.
But since Mi Yue wouldn’t let him act, he had no choice but to hold back.
He turned and followed Mi Yue to find a new stall.
Fortunately, the street was long, and there were plenty of empty spots.
Mi Yue quickly found another suitable place and began setting up.
Xing Chi followed, helping her arrange the fruits.
“That guy copied us, even matching your prices. Should we lower ours? Otherwise, all the customers will go to him.”
After setting up the fruits, Xing Chi turned to Mi Yue.
Mi Yue remained completely at ease, unfazed by the male who had stolen their spot and copied their sales tactics.
“No, we won’t lower our prices.”
“If we drop them any further, the other fruit vendors might get upset and come after us.”
“But if we don’t lower them, what will you do?” Xing Chi pressed.
“Have you forgotten? My fruits aren’t the common varieties sold here. I’m probably the only one on this street selling them.”
“Rarity increases value. Besides, my prices are already cheap. People will definitely come to try our unique fruits.”
Mi Yue smiled confidently.
A stall could be stolen, a sales tactic could be copied, but what about the product itself?
Her fruits were no common variety, making them far from easy to copy.
Xing Chi listened to Mi Yue’s analysis and found it quite reasonable.
Then, Mi Yue brought out a few more collapsible clothing racks, ones she had purchased earlier.
Next, she took out several dresses, their colors vibrant and the prints exquisite.
She hung the dresses up, placing them right beside the fruits.
Now, her merchandise wasn’t limited to just those fruits, she also had dresses.
Here, even ordinary fruits were considered rare, let alone these beautiful dresses. Chances were, the locals had never even seen anything like them.
So, what could those small-time vendors possibly copy from her now?
