Becoming the Yandere Omega's Fluffy Pet - Chapter 70
Chapter 70
Everyone present was startled by her actions. Old Madam Ming barked in a low voice: “Xiaowei! This is the reading of your sister’s will! No nonsense allowed!”
Ming Siwei turned a deaf ear. Clutching the will, her face turned green, as if she wanted to stare a hole through the document.
She kept repeating: “Impossible, impossible…”
How could Ming Siyu give the company to Liu Ran! Shouldn’t it have been given to the Old Madam? The entire inheritance had been distributed, and not a single sentence mentioned her. It didn’t matter; she had expected this. It was impossible for Ming Siyu to bequeath the estate to her directly; she could only inherit it indirectly from the Old Madam later. But she never imagined that after circling such a large loop and putting in so much effort, she would end up benefiting Liu Ran.
The things she craved most whether it was Ming Siyu’s affection or Ming Siyu’s company Liu Ran obtained without lifting a finger.
Ming Siwei was practically going mad with jealousy, wishing she could strangle Liu Ran on the spot.
Old Madam Ming had never seen Ming Siwei lose her composure like this. With other friends and relatives present, she tapped Ming Siwei’s leg with her cane, “Xiaowei!”
Ming Siwei snapped back to her senses. she looked around; everyone was watching her with surprised eyes, making her feel exposed. Struggling to pull together her shattered expression, Ming Siwei stuffed the will back into He Qiange’s hands. Her chest heaved violently. After a few seconds of silence, she stormed out of the room.
The attention of the crowd then focused entirely on Liu Ran. Some who knew she was Ming Siyu’s little lover cast envious and jealous glances, whispering among themselves:
“Being a little lover like this is amazing, getting such a huge company for nothing.”
“Yeah, Ming Siyu was too generous to her. If I were her, I’d wake up laughing in my dreams.”
“But she’s ultimately an outsider. The Old Madam and the others will find a way to take the company back from her, right?”
“What a power-fantasy life. What do they call it? Working hard isn’t as important as making the right choice.”
Liu Ran was in a daze even as He Qiange brought the equity transfer documents for her to sign.
He Qiange urged from the side: “Sign it. You really are lucky.”
Ming Siyu had ultimately decided to hand the company to Liu Ran. Her main goal was to disgust Ming Siwei. Once the news of her death broke, Ming Siwei would surely be determined to get her hands on the company, popping champagne halfway to celebrate; so, Ming Siyu had to deliver a heavy slap first. Furthermore, she didn’t give it to anyone else, but specifically to Liu Ran. Two people who came together for profit would eventually fall out because of profit. She quite wanted to see if Ming Siwei and Liu Ran would turn against each other.
Liu Ran’s mind was too chaotic to think. she couldn’t understand why Ming Siyu would treat her this way. Didn’t Ming Siyu hate her? Didn’t Ming Siyu distrust her? Didn’t Ming Siyu imprison her like a dog and threaten to kill her? Why give her the company now?
This was… Ming Siyu’s legacy. It was a legacy too heavy for her to carry.
“I don’t want it.”
“You must have taken the wrong medicine. Do you know how much this is worth? Wills have an expiration date; once it passes, it’s void.” He Qiange was quite speechless. “You were so decisive when you left Sisi, so who are you putting on this show of deep affection for now? Anyway, make up your mind quickly these next two days. I don’t have time to waste here with you.”
He Qiange left with the lawyer. Liu Ran walked slowly to the parking lot. Just as she was about to hail a taxi, Ming Siwei’s car stopped in front of her. “Get in. Let’s go have a meal together.”
Inside the car, Ming Siwei observed Liu Ran through the rearview mirror. Her gaze was as cold as a layer of unmelting ice. When Liu Ran looked over, it quickly turned soft again.
“Actually, you don’t need to feel too much pressure. You can think of this as Sister’s compensation to you. If you don’t know how to manage a company, I can go to the company to help you; if you want to cash out, Grandmother is willing to purchase the shares Sister gifted you. You could obtain a massive sum of money, enough to last several lifetimes, and live a carefree life anywhere in the world.”
Ming Siwei did her absolute best to act kind in front of Liu Ran. she was relieved she hadn’t broken ties with Liu Ran on the spot when hearing the will. Now she still had a chance to pretend to look out for Liu Ran as a friend and take the company back from her hands.
Liu Ran was silent for a while. she thought of He Qiange’s words: Didn’t Sisi tell you what kind of person she is? She doesn’t do things that offer no profit for herself.
Having failed to receive any part of the inheritance from Ming Siyu’s hand, Ming Siwei’s breakdown during the day was understandable. But for Ming Siwei to pull her mood together so quickly and come over to act as an advisor, planning the company’s future for her?
“Back then, you wanted me to leave City A. First, it was to prevent me from retaliating against President Ming because of my mother’s matter; second, it was out of fear that after President Ming investigated me thoroughly, she would kill me. Now, I have no target for retaliation, and she will never strike at me again.”
Ming Siwei’s face stiffened. “Do you plan to stay?”
“I have no reason to leave now.” Liu Ran asked in return, “Or do you think I should continue to stay abroad?”
The atmosphere in the car turned rigid. Ming Siwei withdrew her gaze, staring straight at the road ahead, and said softly: “Where you want to go is your freedom. I just wanted to ask about your future plans. Now that you have Sister’s company, you have more confidence than before. I should congratulate you.”
Liu Ran also felt her tone just now wasn’t great: “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to question you.”
“It’s fine. Also, there’s one more thing I want to tell you. Sister’s failed surgery wasn’t your fault. I went to ask her attending physician; her illness was never something a single surgery could cure. So you don’t need to blame yourself too much for her death. I feel like your attitude has changed a lot since she died.”
It was the exact opposite of what He Qiange had said. One said she had killed Ming Siyu; the other said it had nothing to do with her. Liu Ran’s head began to throb violently. The car pulled over to the side of the road, and she crouched on the ground, dry-heaving for a while. she couldn’t eat, and she didn’t want to face anyone. she rejected Ming Siwei’s offer to take her back to the hotel and walked aimlessly along the roadside.
After walking for who knows how long, she found she had unconsciously arrived downstairs at Ming Siyu’s home. Her heart trembled. In that house filled with memories the good and the bad everything was now trapped behind curtains by dark windows, lurking in the shadows. she wanted to go up and look, yet she hesitated in fear. she was a weak coward: she didn’t dare say she loved when she loved, she didn’t dare hate with force when she hated, and she didn’t even have the courage to go back into the house to look.
Before she had even signed the equity transfer documents, Liu Ran received numerous calls inquiring about the equity, wanting to buy the shares in her hands. Inherited along with the equity was the right to manage the company. For a time, countless eyes from above and below were fixed on her. she was like a piece of fragrant fat meat, and a pack of beasts with eyes turning green with hunger wanted to snatch her away.
Escaping was not the way; facing it was. On the day of the signing, He Qiange brought Secretary Lin along. Secretary Lin gave Liu Ran a disappointed look and then looked elsewhere. Secretary Lin already knew the report was Liu Ran’s doing. As a former colleague who used to be close, she couldn’t stop her heart from turning cold.
Once the signature was finished, the burden piled in her heart was lifted, but an even heavier load was placed on her back. He Qiange tucked away the documents she needed to take back and gave Secretary Lin a nudge: “She’s your President Liu now. You all know each other, so I won’t bother with introductions. Take her to the company for a tour.”
“President Liu.” Secretary Lin bowed her head to Liu Ran.
Those two words sounded incredibly jarring to Liu Ran. she didn’t have time to apologize to Secretary Lin; she chased after the departing He Qiange, determined to ask the question that had puzzled her for days: “What exactly happened between President Ming and Ming Siwei? Why was she not even allowed to attend the funeral? Aren’t they sisters?”
“You really don’t know anything at all?” He Qiange suspected Liu Ran was faking it, but she stopped nonetheless: “Ming Siwei is an illegitimate daughter; you’ve at least heard that much, right?”
Liu Ran nodded: “I’ve heard.”
Ming Siwei said that because of her appearance, a portion of the family estate originally intended for Ming Siyu had to be split off. Coupled with some grudges between the previous generation, Ming Siyu disliked her intensely and guarded against her at every turn.
“Sisi never even placed her in her eyes. A talentless illegitimate daughter is nothing to fear. The real reason she started loathing Ming Siwei was that Ming Siwei used Sisi’s name within the Group to launder money. If she were simply lacking in ability, Sisi wouldn’t have hated her so much; letting a little pocket money slip through the cracks would be enough for her to live on. But this person has a problem with her thinking. Money laundering is a crime…”
He Qiange said with righteous indignation. Actually, she didn’t know the specific details at the time; she had just heard a few sentences while eating with Ming Siyu and knew such a thing had happened. She stood by her friend regardless of the facts, especially since Ming Siyu was both her friend and in the right, so she had immediately put Ming Siwei on her blacklist.
Whatever He Qiange said afterward, Liu Ran couldn’t hear a single word.
Ming Siwei. Money laundering.
Those two words were like two artillery shells bombing her psychological defenses. How was it Ming Siwei? Wasn’t it said to be Ming Siyu?
Seeing her dazed, He Qiange waved a hand in front of her eyes: “Hey, you don’t need to be that shocked about Ming Siwei laundering money. It’s not like you were the one doing it—”
“You’re lying!” Liu Ran suddenly let out a shout, her gaze full of terror as she backed away. “It wasn’t Ming Siwei, it wasn’t her!”
If, as He Qiange said, the one laundering money was Ming Siwei, hadn’t she hated the wrong person entirely? What would her actions toward Ming Siyu even count as? she had sincerely defined Ming Siyu as the murderer of her mother!
It must not be Ming Siwei. It’s not her, not her, not her! she didn’t want to hate the wrong person; she couldn’t hate the wrong person!
He Qiange frowned: “So anxious to speak up for Ming Siwei? Did she save your life that you’re so protective of her? Sisi was furious at the time. If you don’t believe me, I’ll call—you call Ming Siwei right now and ask her. See if she admits it or not, and that’ll be the end of it.”
He Qiange wiped away a non-existent cold sweat. As expected, she was still unpracticed at this kind of thing and nearly slipped up again.
Liu Ran’s legs went weak, and she collapsed to the floor. Secretary Lin didn’t want to deal with her, but seeing this, she still couldn’t resist hurriedly running forward, grabbing her arm to try to drag her up from the ground.
Liu Ran was incoherent with shock: “It was Ming Siyu, she told me it was Ming Siyu…”
“Sisi isn’t short on money! Why would she do that when she has nothing better to do!” He Qiange was completely speechless after hearing clearly. “Was it Ming Siwei who told you? No, how is this person’s skin so thick, turning black into white and lying as soon as she opens her mouth… Wait, you didn’t fight with Sisi because you thought she broke the law by laundering money, did you? Is it that serious?
Your sense of social moral responsibility is so high you can’t tolerate a single speck of sand? That was years ago, and it had nothing to do with you. Besides, it’s not like you don’t have a mouth. If you had asked Sisi, wouldn’t it be clear that Ming Siwei was lying to you?”
“Of course it had to do with me!” Liu Ran broke away from Secretary Lin and scrambled up from the ground, her lips trembling. “I have to ask clearly… I have to ask clearly!”
