Becoming the Comfort Alpha for the Aloof Movie Queen - Chapter 61
“Open and ready to eat.”
This was clearly a blatant hint from Ming.
Liang Ruojing stood frozen in place, looking like a fool who had just been hit by a winning lottery ticket. She was in a daze. Weren’t they just talking about the Spring Festival Gala? How did it suddenly turn into “lacking effort”?
So, back when Sister Ming was breathing shallowly, when her waist was swaying, when she was buried in the pillow sobbing… was she actually thinking, “this isn’t enough”?
The Omega’s fingers were slender, with purple veins visible beneath her thin skin; her nails were pale pink, trimmed round and lovely. Ming Tanqing leisurely helped Liang Ruojing straighten her collar. Suddenly, sensing someone approaching in her peripheral vision, her face was tilted up by the Alpha’s hands and her lips were captured.
Mint intertwined with red wine. Ming Tanqing surrendered to the kiss with a numb sort of indulgence. The Alpha’s kisses had always been fierce, her tongue sweeping inside. Lip against lip, the force was so great it made Ming’s scalp tingle.
After her re-differentiation, the pheromone concentration in Ming Tanqing’s bodily fluids had become even higher. A mere kiss was enough to make one lose control. The scent of lilies relaxed Liang Ruojing, but it also made her hallucinate. The soft tongue was slick and tender; with one last suck from Liang Ruojing, glistening tears welled up in Ming Tanqing’s eyes.
The Omega exerted force, suddenly pushing Liang Ruojing away. Ming Tanqing covered her mouth, panting softly. She glanced warily toward the living room. Fortunately, Liang Ruojing’s house was large, and the bathroom door opened to the side, making it hard to see inside from the main area.
“Liang Ruojing, this is your house!”
“Then… if we go upstairs, can we continue?”
Ming Tanqing glared at her fiercely, and Liang Ruojing fell silent. Right now, they were supposed to be the “good senior” and the “obedient junior”—they weren’t supposed to be kissing.
Ming Tanqing turned back into the bathroom. The large mirror reflected her current state: she was flushed a vivid red, as if smeared with rouge, even the corners of her eyes brimming with desire. She turned on the tap again, cupping water to splash on her face. The droplets fell like rolling pearls.
Liang Ruojing waited at the door, her gaze traveling from those upturned peach-blossom eyes down to the pink lips. She unconsciously pursed her own lips, as if savoring the aftertaste.
“Sister Tanqing, do I still need to work harder?”
Ming Tanqing lazily lifted her eyelids, meeting the Alpha’s eyes in the mirror with a mocking look. “Still playing dumb.”
Liang Ruojing blinked innocently. Flirting could backfire—Sister Tanqing was so experienced, how could she not know that? Ming Tanqing gave a light snort, glancing at Liang Ruojing’s slightly swollen lips.
“Stay here and reflect. You are not allowed to come out with me.”
Liang Ruojing reflected for five minutes. I only kissed her mouth just now; it feels like I lost out.
The friction in the bathroom remained a hidden secret. When Liang Ruojing returned to the living room, the atmosphere was just as harmonious as when they had left. Ming Tanqing was sipping red wine, the pinkish-purple liquid staining her lips, masking the evidence of their high-efficiency tryst.
Su Jing was talking about the movies she had acted in over the years. Ming Tanqing looked up, meeting Liang Ruojing’s gaze without flinching, and picked up on Su Jing’s conversation.
“Entering the industry back then was purely accidental. I was performing in the school drama club when a talent scout showed up.”
Su Jing and Liang Can both liked Ming Tanqing very much. Through their introductions, Ming Tanqing was the great senior who took good care of Liang Ruojing; Liang Ruojing bringing her home for New Year’s was seen as a way of returning the favor.
But did they know? Liang Ruojing had other ways of “repaying” her.
As the clock neared eleven, Su Jing stifled a yawn and looked at the wall clock. “Xiao Jing, take Tanqing upstairs. The guest room was just cleaned; she can sleep there tonight.” She turned to Ming Tanqing. “If you need anything, just say so. Treat this like your own home.”
Liang Ruojing happily agreed and led Ming Tanqing upstairs. The guest room was in a prime location, near the second-floor balcony and right next to Liang Ruojing’s room. Liang Ruojing nimbly pulled out the quilt, wanting to show off her domestic skills by making the bed, when her arm was suddenly grabbed by the Omega.
Ming Tanqing lowered her lashes. “Ruojing, there’s no need. I’m going back to sleep.”
“Are you angry?” Liang Ruojing asked hesitantly. “Because I kissed you?”
Ming Tanqing said lazily, “Is this the first time you’ve kissed me without asking?”
Liang Ruojing wanted to argue, but the Omega interrupted her. Ming Tanqing smiled; she truly had a “cinematic face,” able to convey everything with a single look. “Ruojing, thank you. This is the happiest Spring Festival I’ve ever had.”
Liang Ruojing feared sentences that sounded so much like a final goodbye.
“I’ll go down and tell your mother. Baiyu isn’t far from here; no need to see me out.”
“Don’t!” Liang Ruojing turned and grabbed Ming Tanqing’s hand. “It’s barely started. We haven’t even seen the fireworks or rung in the New Year.”
Liang Ruojing took a large step, blocking the door. “If you’re truly happy, why leave so early?”
Ming Tanqing was stumped by the simple question. When she first walked through the door, she had been incredibly nervous. She had almost no experience interacting with elders outside the industry; her life was either business socialites or industry seniors. Dealing with Liang Ruojing’s parents was difficult at first.
But perhaps it was when Su Jing kept putting food on her plate, or when Liang Can asked about her life… Ming Tanqing had quietly shed her professional facade, simply chatting, listening to them bicker, and talking about the small things in life. It was blissful—a familial love she had never felt before, so beautiful it was hard to leave.
But she understood that this warmth didn’t belong to her. Indulging in fleeting emotions would only lead to long-term pain.
Liang Ruojing sensed a crack of hesitation in the silence. “Don’t go, Sister Tanqing.”
Ming Tanqing turned her face away, her profile as gentle as melting ice. In her heart, Liang Ruojing cursed Ming Peide and Yan Mei a thousand times over. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the Omega’s waist.
Ming Tanqing said coldly, “Let go of me.”
Liang Ruojing seemed to know exactly which expression and movement would soften Ming Tanqing’s heart. She lowered her brow and looked up at her. In front of a camera, she could be the rational Lawyer Liang or the valiant Prosecutor Han. But in private, especially before Ming Tanqing, she was always like a pitiful Golden Retriever.
Ming Tanqing had to admit… she enjoyed this privilege.
“I won’t,” Liang Ruojing said. “If you leave, I won’t be able to enjoy the New Year either. You came upstairs with me happily, and if you suddenly leave, they’ll definitely think I bullied you or made you angry. They’ll kill me.”
Ming Tanqing was stunned. “Don’t pin such a big accusation on me.”
“Pity me,” Liang Ruojing rubbed her face against the Omega’s neck. “I’ve never had a goddess to spend the New Year with since I was a kid.”
What kind of nonsense is this?
Ming Tanqing twisted her waist, but Liang Ruojing held on tighter. Not only that, she smelled the mint scent; the Alpha was covertly nuzzling toward the Omega’s gland.
“Rogue!” Ming Tanqing cursed, but her waist was gradually softening.
No matter what, Liang Ruojing was not going to let Ming Tanqing go back to Baiyu. She hadn’t even “worked hard” tonight yet.
The two of them were at a stalemate for a full five minutes. Finally, Ming Tanqing rubbed Liang Ruojing’s head with a sort of resigned frustration. “What about a change of clothes? Pajamas? I have to go back to get them.”
Liang Ruojing knew the plan had worked. She tried hard to keep a straight face. “No need. You can just wear mine. I have pajamas and clothes. Didn’t Sister Tanqing borrow them before?”
She was referring to the time Ming Tanqing borrowed her RV to shower. Ming Tanqing had no choice; Liang Ruojing was blocking the door, and she couldn’t exactly jump from the 8th floor to get back to Baiyu.
As midnight approached, Su Jing and Liang Can headed out. They went to a nearby high point to set off fireworks and pray; as celebrities, Liang Ruojing and Ming Tanqing stayed on the terrace to watch. Liang Ruojing took out some sparklers she had bought in advance and handed them to Ming Tanqing.
“Sister Ming, I’ll light them for you.”
The Alpha leaned over, and the flame leapt up, illuminating a bright, beautiful face. Ming Tanqing gazed at the deep features of the person before her, watching the firelight dance in Liang Ruojing’s eyes.
Sizzle—
The sparks flew, tiny fragments of light that quickly vanished into the air. Liang Ruojing lit two for herself. She held them up as if admiring falling stars. No matter the angle, Liang Ruojing’s looks were undeniably handsome.
Ming Tanqing closed her eyes to recall, and the first thing that surfaced was those bright eyes. Whether happy, shy, pained, or tender—they were always watching her.
“Sister Ming, let me take a photo of you.” Liang Ruojing pulled out her phone, a smug grin tugging at her lips. Finally, she would have a photo that belonged only to her.
“What pose should I do?”
It was strange—how could an Empress of film who had graced every top magazine cover not know how to pose? Liang Ruojing felt a surge of secret joy. “Then… is this okay?”
She reached out one hand, forming half a heart. Ming Tanqing looked at the silly, smiling Alpha and seemed to catch the happiness. She reached out her hand and silently completed the other half.
The moment the camera captured them, the clock tower in the distance rang out for the New Year. The ancient tolling echoed across the land, startling white doves in the forest that took flight under the starlit sky. Liang Ruojing pressed the shutter again, saving the image of Ming Tanqing watching the fireworks.
The Omega turned and met her gaze. “Is it not a waste to only photograph me in such beautiful scenery?”
Liang Ruojing thought this woman truly had no idea of her own charm. She took a few more photos before putting the phone away, and they leaned against the railing together to watch the fireworks. With the dark night as a canvas, even the winter in Yanjing could bloom with prosperity.
Liang Ruojing remained silent, the blooming fireworks casting shifting colors onto her face. She turned her head suddenly, nearly bumping noses with the other. Ming Tanqing was looking at her.
Her breath was like orchids. “A time like this… is more suitable for kissing.”
Liang Ruojing’s wandering gaze focused, falling onto Ming Tanqing. A kiss landed on the brow, the bridge of the nose, and finally pressed against the soft lips. Ming Tanqing let out a soft gasp, her arms proactively circling Liang Ruojing’s neck, offering her body up.
Mint wine and lily intertwined. Liang Ruojing became obsessed with the tender kiss, like being swept into a sweet whirlpool, dizzy and faint. She felt as if she were melting, wanting Sister Tanqing to accept her—with her mouth, with her gland, with… everything.
On New Year’s Eve, the fireworks were set off in three segments. Liang Ruojing’s family was relaxed; catching the midnight show was enough. Staying up late was optional, and by around 12:30 AM, everyone returned to their rooms to sleep.
Su Jing made a special trip to the guest room where Ming Tanqing was staying, asking if the heating was enough and if the quilt or mattress needed changing. Ming Tanqing patiently answered each question.
Once the door was closed, her expression turned troubled. Her gaze fell on the change of clothes at the foot of the bed. According to their “agreement,” Liang Ruojing had brought her own pajamas. Usually, Liang Ruojing wore pajama shirts and shorts, but considering Ming Tanqing’s delicate constitution, she had specially found a plush bathrobe from the closet.
That wasn’t the problem. The problem was what was inside. Ming Tanqing had actually forgotten this factor.
She turned off the shower. The sound of water ceased, replaced by an eerie silence.
White. Quietly lying on top of the bathrobe.
Ming Tanqing knew that even if Liang Ruojing had all the courage in the world, she wouldn’t dare give her something she had already worn. But—even if it was unopened, wearing someone else’s intimate apparel felt very strange.
It seemed a bit tight. Yet the waist was just right.
Ming Tanqing endured the heat in her face. She took two steps. No, it was chafing her inner thighs. Besides that, the bathrobe itself was an issue. It was Liang Ruojing’s clothes, after all; over the years, the Alpha’s pheromones had practically seeped into the fabric. The mint scent seemed to mistake its owner, surging with excessive passion toward Ming Tanqing’s gland. Every step was major sensory feedback.
Ming Tanqing awkwardly walked out of the bathroom and dove into the covers, her ears red enough to bleed. She could handle the pheromones; she could adapt to those. But that… she couldn’t wear it anymore.
Ming Tanqing sat up, staring at the item in her hand. Fine, I’ll just throw it away.
By the time she finished tossing and turning, it was nearly 1:00 AM. Ming Tanqing was exhausted both physically and mentally. She lay in the soft bed, her tense nerves gradually relaxing under the surrounding scent of mint wine—until the scent suddenly intensified.
Ming Tanqing didn’t even open her eyes as she gave a cold command: “Liang Ruojing, go back to your room.”
“Sister Tanqing! You’re still awake.” Seeing the Omega had seen through her, Liang Ruojing became even more cheerful. She had originally planned to sneak in and sleep, then sneak out the next morning.
“Go.” Ming Tanqing’s voice was exceptionally cold.
Unaware of the situation, Liang Ruojing moved closer. She was usually good at reading the room, and the atmosphere at midnight had been so good. They had kissed twice; there was no reason she shouldn’t be allowed to sleep while holding her tonight.
“My gland feels uncomfortable, my rut is coming soon. I want Sister Ming’s pheromones.”
Usually, when Liang Ruojing showed weakness, Ming Tanqing would soften. However, tonight was an anomaly. Her tone was frozen enough to turn to ice, and she refused to look at her.
“Go anyway. We’ll talk when the rut actually happens.”
“Sister Tanqing, is something wrong?” Liang Ruojing finally sensed something was off and tried to flip Ming Tanqing over to see her face. She was afraid Sister Ming was secretly sad.
Ming Tanqing was uncharacteristically stubborn, refusing to meet Liang Ruojing’s eyes. Liang Ruojing’s heart skipped a beat. She must be sad. Ming Tanqing was strong-willed and never liked to show her wounds.
Feeling pained for her, Liang Ruojing said soothingly, “If there’s anything, you can tell me…”
“It’s nothing! Just go back to your room!” The Omega swung her arm, blocking Liang Ruojing’s hand.
The two began to struggle. In the midst of the chaos, Liang Ruojing vaguely felt something warm.
Wait.
The Omega had been flipped over by her. Ming Tanqing lay sprawled on the bed, her long hair disheveled, panting slightly. She raised her hand, her slender white fingers only able to partially cover her hazy eyes. Her face was flushed crimson—whether from shame or exhaustion, it was hard to tell.
Wow.
