Becoming the Comfort Alpha for the Aloof Movie Queen - Chapter 49
The spring breeze melted the snow, intoxicating the senses.
After several days of rushing about, Ming Tanqing’s face was somewhat pale. Her peach-blossom eyes were mostly hidden by her drooping eyelashes, exuding a fragile beauty that made people unconsciously lower their voices and tread softly.
Liang Ruojing suddenly remembered that she hadn’t properly thanked Ming Tanqing yet. According to Sister Tang, it was Ming Tanqing who had contacted Wan Tingran. As for the marketing accounts that rapidly spread the statement online, it was hard to say there wasn’t a hand from Sister Ming involved there as well.
Liang Ruojing climbed onto the bed. “Sister Ming, why are you awake?”
As soon as she spoke, she startled herself. She never knew she could produce such a voice—gentle as water.
Ming Tanqing glanced at her, her gaze lingering on the Alpha’s chest, crossing the collarbone, and finally coming to rest on Liang Ruojing’s face.
Her ears were red again. Ming Tanqing surmised that Liang Ruojing’s ears were very sensitive.
“Is that all you wanted to say?” After speaking, Ming Tanqing lay back down, looking as though she intended to go back to sleep.
“No!”
The quilt on the double bed billowed twice as Liang Ruojing hurriedly moved closer, pressing against Ming Tanqing. Liang Ruojing was an only child; when she was young, she had longed for an older sister to sleep with. She hadn’t expected that at twenty-three, her wish would come true.
“Sister Ming, I haven’t thanked you yet,” Liang Ruojing said, her head almost pillowed on Ming Tanqing’s arm as she clung to her. “Can I repay you next time? I haven’t thought of how yet.”
She was quite good at acting spoiled.
Ming Tanqing gave a light hum but did not withdraw her arm. “It started because of me anyway.”
Liang Ruojing suddenly wrapped her arms around the Omega’s waist, slightly bending her arm to pull Ming Tanqing closer to her chest. “That’s not true. It’s all You Xi’s fault.”
With her waist held tight, their noses were almost touching. Ming Tanqing turned her head away uncomfortably, yet she did not break free from Liang Ruojing’s embrace.
As pheromones spread, the atmosphere turned ambiguous. Liang Ruojing’s heart began to race; she tightened her grip, fully embracing the Omega. Pressed closely together, she could feel the rise and fall of Ming Tanqing’s chest.
Sister Ming’s breathing was so fast.
Liang Ruojing wasn’t sure if her gaze was currently too blunt, so she casually tossed out a question: “Now that You Xi knows about our relationship, won’t she talk?”
Only then did Ming Tanqing finally meet her eyes. “No. She wouldn’t dare.”
Liang Ruojing gave an “Mm” in response. Taking a step further like a puppy seeking affection, she rested her head in the nook of Ming Tanqing’s neck. “Then… Sister Ming, will you leave again?”
It was a heavy plea, sounding like the whimper of a small dog.
Ming Tanqing replied, “Not for the time being. I still have matters to attend to at Huafeng.”
“That’s wonderful,” Liang Ruojing didn’t hide her joy at all, burying herself in the Omega’s neck to drink in her pheromones. “I’m so happy, really.”
Ming Tanqing tentatively patted Liang Ruojing’s back. This touch seemed to break some kind of barrier.
Liang Ruojing couldn’t help herself, crying out softly, “I missed you so much.”
The scent of mint escaped along with her words. The language of pheromones was far more direct; when Liang Ruojing said she missed her, it was no different from saying she loved her very, very much. The fact that Ming Tanqing had suddenly returned to help her had already made Liang Ruojing’s heart soar. She felt light as air, willing to fall even if she dropped the next second.
“I missed you…”
Liang Ruojing didn’t dare say anything else. To speak of “liking” was dangerous; to speak of “love” was naive. She simply missed Ming Tanqing—missed her so much she wanted to keep her in her mouth.
Omegas are more sensitive to an Alpha’s emotions. Ming Tanqing remained silent, also sniffing the Alpha’s pheromones. The mint scent was cool, like a breeze on a summer evening.
Liang Ruojing looked up and saw the look in Ming Tanqing’s eyes. A soft light blurred before the Omega, hazy and dim. Just as Liang Ruojing wanted to look deeper into her gaze, Ming Tanqing closed her eyes.
The scent of lilies suddenly became intense, blending into the cool mint.
She couldn’t have misread that trace of emotion. Ming Tanqing could have refused, or she could continue to endure this transgression. It required Liang Ruojing to test it.
Liang Ruojing’s heart felt as if it had been scratched by a cat; an itch spread through her whole body. How much had she missed?
Liang Ruojing lowered her head and this time kissed the side of Ming Tanqing’s neck. Under the influence of pheromones, an Omega’s reaction to an Alpha’s touch becomes even more sensitive. Warm kisses ignited a wild fire on icy skin, and sharp canine teeth grazed the Omega’s shoulder. Her palm covered the waist, her fingertips nearly brushing the curve of the hip.
“Mm…”
Ming Tanqing gripped Liang Ruojing’s bathrobe tightly, burying her gasps in the Alpha’s chest.
It sounded so good. Why not continue? Liang Ruojing thought sluggishly.
Her kisses continued to move, her target being the gland. Unable to reach it, she shifted back, easily flipping the Omega over. Ming Tanqing gave her a light, fluttering glare, which only served to stir more greed in Liang Ruojing.
Is even this endurable?
Liang Ruojing’s body was nearly overwhelmed by surging emotions. Her chest felt swollen and tight. Without waiting for the Omega to adjust, she bit onto the small, round protrusion before her. It was scalding hot, brimming with a doubled intensity of lily fragrance.
Because her gland was underdeveloped, Ming Tanqing couldn’t absorb the Alpha’s pheromones instantly like other Omegas. She could only take in a small portion and digest it slowly. The excess pheromones overflowed, crashing through her body. Most of the pheromones gathered in one place, begging the Alpha to continue providing relief.
“No… Liang Ruojing, that’s enough…” Ming Tanqing waved her hand, her fingertips catching the belt of the bathrobe.
In the next second, she found herself clutching the flannel fabric. Yet Liang Ruojing seemed completely unaware, continuing to mouth the Omega’s gland, her nose filled with lilies. Like checking a lottery ticket, she was impatient to confirm what she possessed. Though Liang Ruojing knew it wouldn’t be much, she wouldn’t be satisfied either.
They grew closer.
Sensing Ming Tanqing’s reaction, Liang Ruojing moved her hand down, following the curve beneath her palm. The silk fabric was delicate, yet it possessed slightly less heat than Ming Tanqing’s skin.
“Sister Ming, I can do it. I want to help you…”
Her wrist was caught. Ming Tanqing didn’t have much strength, but she still stopped the Alpha. If she said no, it was no.
Liang Ruojing hated that her pheromones weren’t whiskey. Mint liqueur had a low alcohol content, insufficient to make someone lose their self-control for a chaotic night.
The temporary marking ended. The Omega’s face was a sight to behold; her chest heaved violently, and her lips were naturally flushed, a single point of pink on her reddened face. Liang Ruojing couldn’t control herself and kissed Ming Tanqing’s lips again.
At first, it was just a light, pecking kiss, then it turned into a lingering rub. Only when the Omega’s breathing stabilized did she slide her tongue inside, entwining with the soft tip of the other’s tongue.
Ming Tanqing’s voice was blocked in her mouth. She was actually at her limit. Having endured too many of the Alpha’s pheromones, even her fingertips were trembling. Liang Ruojing’s kiss brought a numbing pleasure, and a muffled whimper escaped Ming Tanqing’s throat. Her toes curled, rumpling the bedsheets into chaotic folds.
A long, drawn-out sigh echoed in the room. The spring breeze melted the snow, intoxicating the senses. Liang Ruojing felt dazed.
So sensitive.
The next day, when Liang Ruojing woke up, she was hit by a pillow thrown by Ming Tanqing. She felt a bit guilty. Thinking carefully, it really was no different from repaying kindness with enmity.
Sister Ming had been very busy lately. Liang Ruojing didn’t ask many questions and continued to immerse herself in filming on set.
Discussions about the replacement for the role of Sun Ying were growing. Sometimes while resting on set, she could hear nearby stagehands chatting about who they thought was most suitable to take over the role.
Liang Ruojing finally couldn’t hold back and went to ask Lin Xiuzhu, “Director Lin, has the casting for Sun Ying been finalized?”
Lin Xiuzhu raised an eyebrow, looking surprised. “You don’t know?”
Liang Ruojing asked back, “Should I know?”
Lin Xiuzhu played a riddle: “It’s my ideal candidate.”
Liang Ruojing felt even more uneasy. After what Tang Yuecen said, she had basically given up the fantasy of Ming Tanqing playing Sun Ying.
When she returned to the hotel that evening, Liang Ruojing took a detour to a flower shop to pick up the flowers she had ordered. A large bouquet of lilies paired with calla lilies—cold, elegant, and pure—suited Ming Tanqing perfectly.
Tang Yuecen found it strange and asked, “What are you buying flowers for?”
Liang Ruojing played with the lily petals with her fingertips. “For Sister Ming. A thank-you gift.”
In truth, it wasn’t a thank-you gift; it was an apology. Since that night, Ming Tanqing had been in a cold war with her. Liang Ruojing had racked her brains and finally thought of a way to coax the Omega.
The doorbell rang. Ming Tanqing’s expression was indifferent as she opened the door, only to be met by a bouquet of blooming flowers.
Liang Ruojing bowed at a ninety-degree angle, holding the flowers high. “Sister Ming, I’m sorry!”
A light chuckle came from above. Liang Ruojing’s ears turned red instantly. Looking up, the Alpha’s bright face slowly peeked out from behind the bouquet. She looked pitiful.
“Are you not angry with me anymore?”
Ming Tanqing crossed her arms, glanced at her, and said reservedly, “We’ll see.”
She accepted the flowers, of course. The ones delivered previously had withered and been taken away by the hotel staff. Ming Tanqing washed the vase, intending to arrange the flowers. Liang Ruojing, who had never dealt with such things, lay on the table to watch.
Some people’s elegance is etched into their bones. Ming Tanqing pulled out a calla lily; even the flower looked better in her hands.
Watching her, Liang Ruojing casually asked, “Sister Ming, do you know who is going to play Sun Ying?”
The Omega’s body stiffened for a moment. With a snip, she cut the stem. “I don’t know.”
Liang Ruojing’s distress lasted for two days. She had just finished a scene and was sitting in her usual corner in her costume, teasing a cat. On the neighboring set, the little Persian cat’s scenes had already wrapped up. It was so cute that it had been adopted by the crew, and it would run over to Liang Ruojing from time to time. No problem there—catnip is a type of mint, after all.
The little Persian cat possessed a unique, elegant reserve. Even when eating its favorite treats, it did so slowly, lowering its head and licking with its pink tongue. Liang Ruojing couldn’t help but smile like a doting aunt.
At that moment, she overheard the gossip of passing stagehands.
“The actor for Sun Ying joined the crew today!”
Liang Ruojing’s ears perked up instantly.
“Really?”
“I heard it from Xiao Cao. She’s in charge of costumes; she heard the person came today for a makeup test.”
“It hasn’t been officially announced online?”
“They probably want to keep a low profile. There’s so much controversy right now; it’s better to reduce the noise.”
Liang Ruojing stood up. The little Persian cat wasn’t having it, pawing at the trousers of this mint-scented human.
“Be good,” Liang Ruojing picked the little cat up and rubbed its long white fur. “I’ll be right back.”
With that, she walked toward the makeup room.
Before Liang Ruojing even got close, she heard a flurry of excited chatter. She wasn’t the only one who had heard the rumors; several young actors had also come to see the commotion.
Seeing Liang Ruojing approach, they politely made way for her. “Sister Jing, you heard too? They’re not letting anyone in here.”
Liang Ruojing looked over but saw only a dense crowd. After scanning for a few seconds, she decisively chose to retreat. Better to spend a few more seconds in a beautiful dream.
However, someone called out to her.
“Xiao Liang?” The assistant director waved at her. “Why don’t you go in and say hello?”
Liang Ruojing: “Do I know them?”
The assistant director laughed loudly. “Everyone knows her.”
The young actors all turned their gazes toward Liang Ruojing; they were dying of curiosity. “Sister Jing, please DM us!”
Liang Ruojing tucked her tail and followed the assistant director into the corridor. The inner area was quiet with few people; it seemed the crew was intent on keeping the secret.
The assistant director explained, “It’s only been settled for a few days. Director Lin was afraid someone would leak it online, so he plans to wait until after the meeting to emphasize secrecy.”
Liang Ruojing expressed her understanding. She thought to herself: Who is it? Such a big star.
After turning a few corners, they finally arrived in front of the makeup room. The assistant director raised a hand and knocked on the door. “It’s me, Liu Wen. I’ve brought Xiao Liang.”
The voice of the makeup artist came from inside: “Director Liu, the door isn’t locked!” Her voice sounded tight, as if she were overly excited.
Liang Ruojing raised an eyebrow. Is that necessary?
The assistant director turned the handle. Liang Ruojing glanced inside casually and was so startled she nearly bit her tongue. She must look very foolish right now.
“Sun Ying” stood in the middle of the makeup room, already changed into the prosecutor’s uniform for the drama. The solemn suit wrapped around her snow-white skin, the waistline fitted closely, slender as a lily branch.
When they entered, she was adjusting the tie at her chest. Her fingers were long and slender, with pale purple veins visible on the back of her hands.
Liang Ruojing was stunned. “Sister…”
Sun Ying turned around, her red lips curling slightly, her gaze captivating. “Jiahe, you’re here.”
