Becoming the Comfort Alpha for the Aloof Movie Queen - Chapter 12
Actively Soothing the Alpha
The first time Liang Ruojing saw Ming Tanqing was during her first year of middle school.
The school had organized a screening of a film starring Ming Tanqing. Before that, Liang Ruojing never watched movies.
However, the moment the young antagonist played by Ming Tanqing appeared on screen, she was instantly captivated by the Omega before her eyes. She was frenzied yet rational, powerful yet fragile. Liang Ruojing could not look away for even a second.
At seventeen, Ming Tanqing was as lean and upright as bamboo, as aloof and noble as the moon. She was indeed born for the cinema; every frown and smile carried the weight of a story.
From then on, Liang Ruojing began to follow cinema, and specifically, Ming Tanqing. From the age of thirteen to twenty-three, she had followed her for ten years and had seen a thousand faces of her on the screen.
But none of those faces were like the one she saw now… so alluring.
Ming Tanqing’s usually pale cheeks were flushed with a moving pink, and her peach-blossom eyes were veiled with a layer of mist, slightly narrowed as if brimming with autumn waters. With furrowed brows and a trace of anger, the sense of distant alienation was easily shattered.
Thus, the moon in the sky became a flower in the hand—still beautiful, but no longer inspiring a sense of reverent awe.
“Let go,” Ming Tanqing said, her eyelashes trembling as she avoided Liang Ruojing’s gaze. She bit her lip and forced her voice to be cold. “Liang Ruojing, let go.”
Liang Ruojing’s soul felt as if it had flown out of her body. She released her grip, but the supple, slender sensation remained in her palm. And then there was the softness from their embrace, that was…
Liang Ruojing’s face turned bright red with a sudden “poof.”
Fang Zezhi stared wide-eyed at the pheromone concentration on the instruments. How did it suddenly surge upward like that?
As a doctor, this was Fang Zezhi’s first time witnessing high-compatibility AO pheromone therapy at such close range. In truth, even without the instruments, she could “smell” the effectiveness of the treatment.
From moments ago, the pheromone concentration in the room had reached a terrifying level. As an A-class Omega, Fang Zezhi felt a sense of rejection from both pheromones. This was an instinct carved into the bones of Alphas and Omegas.
They were rejecting anyone other than each other.
Fang Zezhi endured the pressure and held out for another five minutes. She couldn’t take it anymore; she had to leave.
“That’s all for today—”
The treatment had ended, yet the pheromones lingered and intertwined lingeringly, indistinguishable from one another. Any outsider walking in would assume they had stumbled upon the scene of a heat cycle being relieved.
Currently, the two protagonists of this artificial “heat” were both slumped in their chairs, enduring feelings more torturous than an actual heat cycle. After all, a real heat cycle could be relieved through physical contact.
But for them, that was not yet an option.
When she withdrew her pheromones, Liang Ruojing’s sensation was no different from falling from heaven into hell. Behind the immense satisfaction lay an immense void. This emptiness was even more agonizing than it had been at the start.
It was like being tossed into a bottomless abyss. All the warmth in Liang Ruojing’s body vanished instantly, and she was nearly driven mad by the unbearable loneliness. To retreat at the peak of such intensity was an act that defied biological instinct; few people could truly exercise such self-restraint.
Liang Ruojing bit her lip, trying to use the pain to clear her head. She was like a bow pulled to its limit; her entire body tensed to the breaking point.
Just then, a soft scent of lilies wrapped around Liang Ruojing’s calves. It was faint, yet it truly existed.
Liang Ruojing relaxed her body, allowing this floral fragrance to soothe her. She slowly floated upward, leaving the abyss behind, seeing the clear sky after the rain and the blooming of spring flowers.
Fang Zezhi had not yet retracted the instruments. On the screen, the Omega’s pheromone concentration rose once again.
Ming Tanqing turned her head away awkwardly, her face stern as if she were still angry with the Alpha. Yet, while she was the one who was angry, she was also the one actively using her pheromones to comfort the Alpha.
Fang Zezhi showed a knowing smile. The Ming Tanqing she knew had always been like this.
As Liang Ruojing wandered through the field of flowers, she gradually forgot many of her troubles. Her brow relaxed, and she fell asleep enveloped by the Omega’s pheromones.
When she opened her eyes again, Liang Ruojing found herself lying on a large bed. The ceiling above reflected refined interior design. She sat up and saw unfamiliar surroundings.
She hurriedly pulled back the duvet and let out a sigh of relief. Her clothes were the same ones she had been wearing; she was safe.
Her memory slowly returned. So, she had been soothed by Ming Tanqing’s residual pheromones and fallen asleep?
Liang Ruojing, who knew little about Omegas, naturally assumed those were just naturally dissipated pheromones. Furthermore…
Sighing, Liang Ruojing felt a wave of sadness. She remembered that Ming Tanqing had been angered by her. Why would Ming Tanqing actively help her? Why did things always go against her wishes?
There was a knock at the door; it was a servant of the Ming household.
“Miss Liang, you’re awake. Dinner will be in about an hour and a half. Please let us know if you need anything.”
Liang Ruojing thanked the servant and headed to the bathroom to shower.
The warm water created layers of steam in the enclosed space. Looking at the condensation sliding down the glass, Liang Ruojing inevitably recalled Ming Tanqing’s affectionate expression. She was truly as beautiful as spring flowers.
Because she had fallen asleep accompanied by the Omega’s pheromones, a lingering attachment to the Omega remained in her system, making it hard to forget. She suddenly understood why so many people developed feelings through treatment. Under such a simultaneous onslaught of gentleness and intensity, it was hard not to fall for it.
Liang Ruojing turned the water temperature down, telling herself it was all an illusion. It was merely the attraction of pheromones.
When she finished changing and came out, the servant had already brought her bag. Liang Ruojing went over and pulled out her script. She had received the physical script on January 1st; it had been eight days, and she had already flipped through it from beginning to end three times. The edges were covered in colorful sticky notes.
Opening to any random page revealed dense annotations. The audition was the day after tomorrow, and Liang Ruojing did not dare to be slack.
She remembered there was a balcony on the second floor of the villa. Since it was sunset and she felt stifled staying indoors, she took her script and went out.
The corridor was quiet, and the beautiful sunlight cast strips of light across the floor. Liang Ruojing found the balcony, pulled over a chair, and once again began to study the scene that had troubled her for many days.
The female lead she was auditioning for was a young prosecutor. Her mother, a high-ranking prosecutor, had died in the line of duty, and the female lead inherited her mother’s wishes to join the service, possessing a heart full of integrity.
However, she gradually discovered that her mother’s death held hidden secrets. Upon deep investigation, she discovered that her enemy was actually the mentor who had always helped her. The female lead’s convictions suffered a massive blow, and just at this moment, another major case surfaced…
This was Liang Ruojing’s first time tackling a female lead in a serious drama, and she simply could not understand the protagonist’s inner transformation.
The script read:
Han Jiahe stared fixedly at the woman before her with a heart full of hatred. The moments they had shared in the past flowed through her mind like water. A terrifying rage rose in her heart—kill her! She wanted revenge! The voice in her heart grew louder. Han Jiahe stood up, her hand already on the trigger.
Opposite her, the woman in uniform smiled leisurely, her willow-like eyebrows arched. She was provoking her.
“Kill. Me.”
All the strength was drained from Han Jiahe’s body. She couldn’t do it.
“Go! Just go!”
Liang Ruojing gripped the script and shouted the line. No, she was still dissatisfied. She couldn’t understand the lead’s feelings toward her mentor. With such a deep blood feud, why would she let her go?
Frustrated, Liang Ruojing pored over her notes again. This was the climax of the entire film and the most crucial scene. It was highly likely to be the audition piece.
Liang Ruojing was focused intensely when she suddenly smelled a distracting scent. A faint fragrance of lilies wafted into her world. Was it the lily field downstairs?
Liang Ruojing stood up and walked to the balcony. She looked down; the pure white lilies swayed in the wind, forming waves of moonlight white.
The scent wasn’t right. It lacked a certain chill. That was a chill that only a layer of snow covering the earth could possess. Clean and solemn.
Liang Ruojing turned her head and froze in place.
Nearby, Ming Tanqing was leaning against the balcony of her own room, gazing at her silently.
