Becoming the Comfort Alpha for the Aloof Movie Queen - Chapter 108
Messing up the Omega.
Liang Ruojing tightened the corners of her mouth, her gaze sweeping over Ming Tanqing’s face with feigned nonchalance. She kept her head slightly lowered, her falling golden hair adding a touch of languidness to her demeanor.
Looking at her profile, she exuded an aura of total abstinence.
If only the tips of her ears weren’t so red.
When Ming Tanqing turned to leave, she had a smile on her lips.
Later, while Liang Ruojing was having her makeup applied, her entire face flushed crimson without warning.
They met again on the film set.
The Omega was wearing the same hospital gown. Her makeup made her look even paler and more haggard; standing by the window leaning against the wall, she looked as if she were about to dissolve into the light.
Ming Tanqing was nearing the end of her filming; this afternoon was her penultimate scene.
Liang Ruojing held her script, seizing every moment to memorize her lines.
It had been a long time since she had acted opposite Ming Tanqing. What was boiling in her chest right now was not just nervousness, but a sense of eager anticipation.
Everyone, including Yu Feng, could see the improvement in her acting skills.
Sister Tanqing should be able to see it too, right?
Once all the preliminary preparations were done, the set was cleared.
Ming Tanqing sat in a wheelchair, her breathing weak. She could feel her life slipping away irrevocably.
At that moment, steady and powerful footsteps came from behind her.
As the person opened the hospital room door, they also brought in a wisp of the outdoor breeze.
Before seeing the person, Ming Tanqing first smelled her scent.
Fresh mint mixed with the pungent scent of wine—intense and direct, carrying a vitality she had no strength to dream of.
She turned her head and saw the Alpha’s face.
Ming Tanqing was instantly transported back to the afternoon she first officially met Liang Ruojing.
She couldn’t distinguish between the play and the memory.
This time, the Alpha also sat down beside her, her tone cold and hard, her gaze toward her filled with both disgust and unbearable pity.
The young police officer probably knew that she didn’t have many days left to live.
Whether she came to notify her or not, she was going to die anyway.
“I understand. Please leave,” Ming Tanqing said quietly after hearing the “judgment,” her expression as calm as if it had nothing to do with her.
Her indifference was unpleasant.
The Alpha silently clenched her fist.
Ming Tanqing could see right through the person in front of her.
Young, naive, with a strong sense of justice, and likely from a happy family; her future was vast and sunlit, and she would never understand the thoughts of those living in the shadows.
Perhaps infected by a bit of her vitality, Ming Tanqing said in a nearly provocative tone, “Officer, you look like you want to strangle me.”
Liang Ruojing’s departing pace faltered. She didn’t look back: “You’re going to die; there’s no need for me to do it myself.”
Behind her, Ming Tanqing laughed.
A light movement tugged at her internal organs. She choked, her breath hitching before turning into a violent cough—a sharp, wretched sound that seemed like it would collapse her entire skeletal frame.
There were 64 people on set. For a full two minutes, no one made a sound.
Liang Ruojing couldn’t bear to listen anymore. She couldn’t tell if Ming Tanqing was acting or if she had truly choked. She nudged Wan Tingran with her elbow.
Only then did Wan Tingran raise her hand: “Cut! That was excellent!”
The moment the words fell, Ming Tanqing stopped, walking over with her usual gentle smile.
She leaned over slightly, exposing her fair neck to the Alpha: “Can we use that?”
“Absolutely,” Wan Tingran gave a thumbs up. “I’m keeping that improvisation.”
Liang Ruojing noticed that Ming Tanqing’s voice was hoarse.
She handed over the warm water she had in her hand, her tone involuntarily carrying a hint of pity: “Sister Tanqing…”
The police officer was a different person on and off the screen.
When Liang Ruojing acted like this, it always made Ming Tanqing want to hug her—ideally, to pat her head too.
She took the water, her fingertips behaving mischievously, lightly scratching Liang Ruojing’s palm as if by accident. Her peach-blossom eyes were filled with ambiguous admiration.
“Ruojing, have I mentioned before that you look very good in a uniform?”
Liang Ruojing’s heart was truly being jerked back and forth by her.
Could Sister Tanqing not see it?
She was worried about her.
But she insisted on talking about other things, always facing the Alpha with an air of effortless composure.
A subtle anger rose in Liang Ruojing’s heart.
When would the person in front of her finally be honest?
Are you angry?
Ming Tanqing hadn’t expected that.
She took the initiative to hold Liang Ruojing’s hand. The movement was, of course, not quite proper; her fingertips brushed against the back of the hand, flirting as if plucking a lute string.
Suddenly, her wrist was grabbed in a reverse grip.
Liang Ruojing glanced at her sideways: “Sister Tanqing, stop playing around.”
The Alpha’s palm was burning hot, that heat slowly penetrating Ming Tanqing’s entire body.
She could have coldly replied “it was just an accident,” but Ming Tanqing smiled. A spark of mirth danced in her brows like a prairie fire, and her voice rose.
“Understood. I’ll listen to you.”
Liang Ruojing shamefully looked away.
Wan Tingran was very satisfied with Liang Ruojing’s performance and added a few more scenes for her.
Thinking she could stay until evening with a legitimate reason, and even come to the set tomorrow, Liang Ruojing agreed.
Ming Tanqing went to remove her makeup.
Liang Ruojing stayed on set to watch the playback on the monitor with Wan Tingran.
She rewound to the confrontation scene in the hospital.
Wan Tingran’s eyes were full of obsession. She looked at Ming Tanqing on the monitor and said to Liang Ruojing, “When I first saw the script and this character, I knew I had to get Tanqing to play her. She fits it perfectly.”
Something like an electric current flashed through Liang Ruojing’s mind.
Only then did she realize why she had been feeling awkward and oppressed all along.
This character’s experiences were too similar to the former Ming Tanqing.
Struggling for many years, then losing everything at the peak; the higher one stands, the harder the fall.
Ming Tanqing’s frail constitution wasn’t entirely due to innate deficiencies; Liang Ruojing had almost forgotten that she had literally been bedridden for two years.
Liang Ruojing hesitantly asked Wan Tingran.
“This character… what is her ending?”
Wan Tingran said flatly, “Suicide. She took medicine the same night the officer left.”
Liang Ruojing’s heart tightened, and for no reason, she felt a surge of resentment toward herself.
How is she like Ming Tanqing?
Not like her at all!
Liang Ruojing’s low mood persisted until nightfall.
The set wrapped up at 9:30 PM. It wasn’t exactly late, but it was too early if one really wanted to do something.
Wan Tingran wanted to invite Liang Ruojing for a couple of drinks, but the Alpha declined.
“I rushed here early this morning; I’m a bit tired,” Liang Ruojing said politely.
In reality, it was because she had taken tablets to suppress her rut symptoms; if she drank alcohol, the medication would lose its effect.
The two of them stood chatting under a streetlamp by the road. From a distance, Liang Ruojing saw Ming Tanqing’s silhouette.
The Omega’s black hair was slightly messed up by the wind, but she was still beautiful.
Liang Ruojing had been waiting for her for a while. Not knowing how to gauge the level of intimacy, she tried to hint with her eyes.
It worked!
Ming Tanqing stopped in front of them: “Director Wan, I’ll be taking Ruojing with me.”
Her tone was matter-of-fact, as if she were picking up a puppy from the side of the road.
Liang Ruojing gripped her room keycard, her palms sweaty.
602, 602, 602. Her mind was filled with that number.
The footsteps stopped, and her sleeve was tugged.
“We’re here.”
Here?
Liang Ruojing felt a bit disappointed and confused.
Had Sister Tanqing just walked her to her room door?
The door opened, and a rich fragrance of lilies wafted out. Liang Ruojing snapped back to reality and looked up.
“602”.
Ming Tanqing had already entered. With a flick of her fingers, she took off her coat, revealing a waist made slender by her half-skirt, swaying candidly under the Alpha’s infatuated gaze.
Liang Ruojing was stunned.
So, when the Omega asked her if she wanted some red wine, she nodded.
The sound of the wine dripping was pleasant. The mellow aroma of red wine spread through the air, and Liang Ruojing took a small sip.
Psychologically, she felt the medication had already worn off. Surging pheromones made her glands swell.
Unavoidably, Liang Ruojing released her pheromones.
She didn’t know if Ming Tanqing, whose glands had recovered, would still react to her pheromones.
She probably did, because as Liang Ruojing smelled the Omega’s pheromones now, heat radiated through her entire body.
Ming Tanqing looked at the stiffly seated Alpha: “Why were your unhappy tonight? Still angry?”
Even knowing that Ming Tanqing’s tenderness was a luxury only granted to her, it was hard for Liang Ruojing to feel smug or happy right now. She was grieving.
For the person in front of her.
That hateful feeling of powerlessness returned. Liang Ruojing took a deep gulp of wine and looked deeply at the Omega: “Sister Tanqing, don’t take these kinds of roles for your next project.”
Ming Tanqing: “Why?”
“Because…” Liang Ruojing counted on her fingers: “President Bo, Sun Ying, the entrepreneur… their endings were all too tragic.”
Ming Tanqing chuckled: “You’re an actress yourself; do you actually believe in such superstitions?”
Well.
Liang Ruojing also felt she was being quite unreasonable.
If she was in a bad mood, she would digest it herself.
Thinking this, Liang Ruojing took another aggrieved sip.
Suddenly, her arm was poked. She turned her head, and her heart nearly stopped—originally, they were sitting at opposite ends of the sofa, but now, Ming Tanqing had moved closer. One arm rested on the back of the sofa as she leaned in slightly, looking at her with focused concern.
The Omega helped her tidy her collar: “It’s just a coincidence. The next one probably won’t be like that.”
“Stop being sad, okay?” Ming Tanqing looked at her, her tone completely coaxing.
Liang Ruojing’s head felt dizzy. The alcohol was kicking in, and she wasn’t thinking very clearly.
“Don’t you think she’s very similar to me?” Ming Tanqing asked again.
Liang Ruojing denied it reflexively: “You are different from her.”
The fervor in the Alpha’s eyes moved Ming Tanqing.
It was indeed different. She had been found by Qi Lin and had survived.
Weeks ago, when Liang Ruojing had said by the lake, “There’s very little I can help you with,” she had wanted to refute it. The Alpha had helped her a great deal.
She had turned Ming Tanqing’s world from winter into spring.
Even though Liang Ruojing was unaware of it, seeing her heartache made the warm current in Ming Tanqing’s heart dissipate her usual heaviness.
One should feel guilty for bringing heaviness to others with one’s own experiences.
But Ming Tanqing felt shamefully happy.
“Okay, different.”
Before they knew it, an entire bottle of red wine was finished. Most of it had gone into Liang Ruojing’s stomach. She was a bit drunk, the corners of her eyes flushed with a faint red.
The scent of mint wine pheromones filled the entire room unnoticed, wrapping around the Omega somewhat aggressively.
Ming Tanqing’s waist felt weak, but they both had scenes tomorrow morning; it wasn’t good to overindulge.
She nudged the Alpha, reminding her: “You should go back to sleep.”
Liang Ruojing’s head throbbed. The previous medication was completely useless now. The waves of the rut pounded against her brain, and the pheromones she couldn’t release became the final straw that broke her reason.
Furthermore, a wonderful scent kept drifting from beside her—the fragrance of flowers was alluring; having caught a scent, she wanted to take in even more.
Ming Tanqing was still shaking her. Liang Ruojing grabbed her arm and pulled with a bit of force, and suddenly a startled figure was in her arms.
They were face to face. Ming Tanqing was almost pressed into the sofa by Liang Ruojing.
Liang Ruojing sat with her legs apart, her head lowered, her nose starting to kiss from the Omega’s exposed collarbone.
Ming Tanqing’s waist went soft.
“Ruojing, you…”
Liang Ruojing buried her head deeper, saying pitifully: “Sister Tanqing, let me hold you for a while. My glands hurt.”
That wasn’t how “holding” worked.
Ming Tanqing endured the heat rushing toward her lower abdomen and indulged her: “Just for a moment.”
Liang Ruojing was taller than Ming Tanqing; except for when lying down, this posture was actually quite exhausting.
But she didn’t care about that at all!
She just felt so soft, so fragrant. Sister Tanqing was so gentle.
Ultimately, she had crossed the line.
Liang Ruojing silently counted to five in her heart, thinking that when time was up, she would get up so as not to make things too difficult for Sister Tanqing.
“Ruojing,” her head was suddenly patted by the Omega. Ming Tanqing’s beautiful voice fell from above her, filled with concern: “Does it still hurt?”
“No.”
Liang Ruojing let go and got up from her.
Ming Tanqing had been messed up by her; the curve of the fabric across her chest was exceptionally prominent.
Seeing Liang Ruojing start to put on her coat, Ming Tanqing said in shock: “You’re leaving?”
Liang Ruojing nodded, considering herself very well-behaved: “Sister Tanqing, thank you. My glands don’t hurt as much now.”
Ming Tanqing bit her lip.
She was conflicted.
“How about…”
Liang Ruojing turned: “What is it?”
Ming Tanqing forced herself to swallow the words. “I’ll see you out.”
Her steps were a bit unsteady.
Liang Ruojing looked back, feeling glad that she knew when to stop while she was ahead.
Sister Tanqing was even angry!
Stepping out of the room, reluctance took the upper hand.
Liang Ruojing walked a few paces, then gathered her courage, came back, and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
With a silly smile, she left.
Ming Tanqing’s eyelashes trembled. She stared at the Alpha’s departing back for a long time before turning around.
It was fine. She would finish her filming tomorrow.
Back in her room, Liang Ruojing lingered in the bathroom for an extra half hour.
Her clothes were stained with the Omega’s pheromones. She buried her face in them, fantasizing about the touch from just now.
Afterward, as the pheromone concentration dropped, Liang Ruojing lay alone on the bed, feeling a bit melancholy.
She wasn’t like this before.
She wouldn’t have left before.
If it had been four months ago, she would have kissed her first thing upon entering the room.
Liang Ruojing wanted to cry but had no tears. But thinking about how their faces had been pressed together for so long today, she felt a sense of incremental victory.
All the suppressants she brought were used up.
Before falling asleep, Liang Ruojing thought that she should leave; her rut was coming soon.
