Beauty Snake - Chapter 92
Chapter 92: “Hmm? Little. Rogue. Xie…”
Immersed in the warm, nourishing spirit spring, Ji Yunfei could feel the abundant spiritual energy seeping through her pores, circulating through her body along with her blood.
Wrapped in warmth, she couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh, relaxing completely and leaning lazily against the edge of the spring. Of course, she didn’t forget to keep a constant eye on the figure behind the large tree.
After several days of nourishment from the spirit spring, although Ji Yunfei’s physical state was not yet what it used to be, she could easily capture movements within a hundred meters. Therefore, every small action of the “silly snake”—who thought she was hidden perfectly—was crystal clear to her.
“This stinky human… in broad daylight, she actually… actually…” Xie Yin pressed her body tight against the tree trunk, curling herself into a small ball, not daring to peek out again.
The image of Ji Yunfei—robes half-shed to her waist, the graceful curves of her body partially visible behind her long chestnut hair—kept flashing in her mind.
Xie Yin shook her head, trying to cast out the scene that was making her heart beat erratically. But unfortunately, this scene was like Ji Yunfei herself: it stuck to her mind like a stubborn plaster and wouldn’t go away no matter what.
“Fine, Ji Yunfei. You act like a proper lady in front of me, but when no one’s around, you play this dirty?” Xie Yin felt a surge of inexplicable anger. This evil human was flirting with the younger generation, and now, even with no one around, she was acting all “seductive” and “pretentious” while soaking in a spring. Who was she trying to entice? The air?
It was as if someone had accidentally overturned an ancient jar of vinegar; a sour, jealous scent instantly permeated the entire North Mountain. Yet the one who overturned the jar remained unaware, irritably biting her finger while “settling scores” in her head.
She failed to realize that this was not the time to be sulking behind a tree. If she were discovered, she would be the one labeled a lecher.
The angrier she got, the more the blood rushed to her head. Forgetting where she was and the delicacy of the situation, Xie Yin punched the innocent tree behind her.
Suddenly, the earth shook and the tree swayed. Piles of emerald leaves cascaded down with a “shua-shua” sound, completely “burying” her.
The birds nesting in the forest scattered in flight from the disturbance. For a moment, the normally quiet and secluded North Mountain became uncharacteristically “lively.”
Turned into a “leaf-person,” Xie Yin froze in place. Realizing what a stupid thing she had done, she swallowed hard and prayed silently that Ji Yunfei, in the spring, had suffered a sudden bout of deafness and blindness.
But even if I’m discovered, it doesn’t matter, Xie Yin thought defiantly. Ji Yunfei is just a mortal. What can she do to me? At worst, I’ll knock her out with a hand-chop and use a small trick to wipe this embarrassing memory…
“Heh…” Ji Yunfei, leaning lazily by the spring, saw all of Xie Yin’s little movements clearly. Her eyelashes curved as the urge to tease bubbled up again.
“Who’s there?” she shouted, pretending to be panicked and flustered. After a moment of silence with no response, her voice took on a threatening edge: “If you don’t come out yourself, I’ll come catch you personally…”
Still no movement.
Ji Yunfei was amused into a laugh. This naughty girl had the guts to follow her and see everything, but now she didn’t have the guts to stand up? Hmph, if I don’t tease her properly this time, my name isn’t Ji Yunfei!
Seeing that the silly snake was determined to be a shrinking turtle and remained unmoved by her warnings, Ji Yunfei stopped acting: “Are you really not coming out?”
“Yin-yin.”
As the words fell, only Ji Yunfei’s lingering, tender, and slightly provocative voice echoed through the mountain forest.
Rustle, rustle— The echo faded, replaced by the sound of leaves being brushed aside. Following that, Ji Yunfei saw Xie Yin—with leaves still clinging to her hair and clothes—shuffling out from behind the tree reluctantly.
“You… when did you discover me…” Xie Yin kept her head down, clutching the hem of her clothes. A faint blush dusted her face because Ji Yunfei had called her out directly.
Seeing her so restrained and embarrassed, Ji Yunfei’s mood reached a peak of delight. She swam to the side directly facing Xie Yin, propped her hands on the edge of the spring, and tilted her head, playing dumb: “I just missed you, so I called out your name.”
“Who knew it was actually you, sneakily following me and peeking at me while I bathe?” She narrowed her eyes, a hint of playfulness flashing in her expression. “Now, is it my turn to call you a lecher and a rogue?”
“Hmm? Little. Rogue. Xie…” Ji Yunfei teased intentionally, drawing out each syllable and staring straight at the person in front of her, anticipating her reaction.
“You… you… I… I…” Being called out so directly, Xie Yin’s already red and hot face became even more burning, as if she were pressed against a furnace. She stole a glance at Ji Yunfei in the water and immediately met those teasing eyes. Now she knew—this evil human was toyed with her again!
Shame and annoyance filled Xie Yin. She gritted her teeth and said indignantly, “Who wants to look at you! You—what is there to see?”
“What is there to see…? Yin-yin, you weren’t like this before…” Ji Yunfei’s gaze darkened, and her eyes misted over. She just stared at Xie Yin quietly, as if wounded by her words.
Seeing this, Xie Yin’s heart twitched. she began to wonder if her words were too harsh… after all, this evil human’s figure was actually top-tier…
But before she could reflect further, the person who had been teary-eyed suddenly raised the corners of her mouth and spoke leisurely: “Want to know what there is to see? Then, have a good look…”
Splash—! The sound of water erupted as the person submerged stood straight up. The spirit spring water splashed in every direction like flower petals, inevitably landing on Xie Yin’s face.
Though it should have been warm spring water, it felt as scalding and searing as lava. Even more scorching was the naked, graceful body slowly approaching her.
This—what on earth is this evil human doing!!
With every step Ji Yunfei took, Xie Yin’s heart pounded harder. Her gaze darted around—looking at the sky, then the ground—anywhere but at the person approaching her.
“Heh, Yin-yin, is this all the courage you have? You don’t even dare to look at me, so how can you say there’s nothing to see…? I’m really going to be heartbroken…” Seeing Xie Yin’s cheeks red enough to bleed and her total loss of composure, Ji Yunfei found it hilarious, though she maintained a wounded expression.
“I won’t look. What can you do about it?” Xie Yin closed her eyes, still stubborn.
Silence followed her words. Confused by the lack of response, Xie Yin was about to speak again when she was suddenly hoisted into the air by a surge of power.
The contact of their skin was warm and reassuring. The spring water on Ji Yunfei hadn’t dried, making Xie Yin’s clothes slightly damp. Realizing she was being firmly held in Ji Yunfei’s arms, Xie Yin panicked: “What are you doing? Put me down!”
“Mmm, no.” Ji Yunfei shook her head and held her tighter with undeniable strength. Before the girl could say more, Ji Yunfei carried her back into the spirit spring.
Ripples spread across the surface as Ji Yunfei walked. Xie Yin watched the concentric circles expanding outward and felt her heart trembling right along with the ripples.
As expected of the North Mountain Spirit Spring… Xie Yin sighed inwardly the moment they entered the water. The abundant spiritual energy flowed into her body; for a moment, she felt so energized she could punch five cows to death…
Well… even without the spring’s help, she could easily punch five cows to death…
Ji Yunfei set her down steadily. Seeing Xie Yin’s absent-minded look, she raised an eyebrow and reached out to gently pick a stray leaf from the girl’s head. “Where did that arrogant attitude go? Why did you fizzle out?”
Xie Yin shot a glare at the evil human waving the leaf in front of her, then turned away and submerged herself deeper into the water, making it clear she didn’t want to talk.
Hiss, the silly snake is angry…
Ji Yunfei retracted her playful expression and carefully poked Xie Yin’s puffed-out cheek. “Are you mad? I was just afraid you’d stay dirty after being buried in leaves. I know you’re a neat freak…”
“Besides, this North Mountain Spirit Spring has a nourishing and tempering effect. It’s good for helping your wounds heal…”
Xie Yin let out a muffled hum, still unwilling to address her.
“Don’t be mad, okay? Look, you followed me all the way and saw my body, and I’m not even angry…”
“You still say it!” Xie Yin turned around in a huff. Under the water, her legs had transformed into a giant snake tail at some point, and she began to thrash it resentfully.
Splash! Crash! This time, the water didn’t spray gently like when Ji Yunfei stood up. Xie Yin was out for a bit of revenge, and she didn’t hold back her tail’s strength at all.
A wall of water several meters high crashed down on Ji Yunfei, turning her into a “drowned rat.”
“Pfft—” Seeing Ji Yunfei looking so disheveled, Xie Yin couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Her previous unease and shame faded slightly.
Ji Yunfei didn’t get angry at the treatment. She brushed her wet hair away from her forehead and leaned toward Xie Yin’s ear, coaxing her in a low voice: “Feeling better? If not, you can do it a few more times. It’s okay…”
Xie Yin tilted her head away to avoid the warm breath on her neck. She muttered, “Hmph, smooth-talker.”
Knowing Xie Yin as well as she did, Ji Yunfei could tell the girl was mostly coaxed. She resisted the urge to hug her, stepped back two paces, and leaned lazily against the edge again.
“But, why did you come looking for me? And even followed me all the way to the spring?” Knowing it was Xie Yin following her made Ji Yunfei happy, but she knew this arrogant little snake wouldn’t normally take the initiative to seek her out.
At the mention of this, the anger Xie Yin had just suppressed showed signs of reigniting. She sneered, “Hmph, the cookies ran out, so I came out to forage. Who knew I’d stumble upon someone ‘plucking flowers’…”
Oh… It turned out she couldn’t wait to come and ask for more cookies. But… Ji Yunfei looked at the unconscious sourness emanating from the girl and laughed inwardly. This silly snake still has me in her heart, doesn’t she…
Otherwise, why would she get sulky and stalk her just because she saw her talking to those two juniors?
Thinking of this, Ji Yunfei chuckled. She stood up, found Xie Yin’s hands underwater, and held them. “Are you talking about me?”
“I’m no social butterfly.” Ji Yunfei’s gaze was sincere, locked onto Xie Yin’s eyes as she spoke word for word: “You know that my heart has only ever held you… everything I do is just to make you happy.”
“As for those two juniors…” Ji Yunfei drew out the sound and gave Xie Yin a mischievous smile. “It’s for a surprise. You’ll find out when the time comes.”
