Chapter 73: Although She Never Had Other Feelings For That “Naughty Fellow”… Did This Count As Infidelity?
With the weight of another person leaning on her, Ji Yunfei’s steps were inevitably a bit heavy, but fortunately, the path from the auction hall to the hotel entrance was unobstructed.
“Xie Yin, Xie Yin, where is your driver?” Ji Yunfei gently shook the woman whose eyes were half-closed and whose cheeks were flushed a deep crimson.
Hearing her words, Xie Yin pouted as if thinking. After a long pause, she pulled her phone from her pocket and stuffed it into Ji Yunfei’s arms. “I forgot… A-Fei, call and ask…”
“The password is your birthday…” After saying this, her head dropped, resting on Ji Yunfei’s shoulder.
Hearing that the phone password was her own birthday, Ji Yunfei felt a wave of being “favored with overwhelming surprise.” Her hand trembled slightly as she input the code; she accidentally typed 0818 instead of 0817.
“Incorrect password, please try again.” The phone vibrated as the text appeared, snapping her back to reality and reminding her that now was not the time for such thoughts.
Unlocking the phone and opening the contacts, Ji Yunfei’s heart skipped a beat for the second time, even though she had expected it. Xie Yin’s pinned contact was her, and the first emergency contact was also her. Her arm around Xie Yin tightened instinctively, pulling her closer into her embrace.
“Hello, Uncle Wang, Xie Yin has had too much to drink. Could you please come pick her up…?” She called the driver, Uncle Wang, and learned he was already waiting in the parking lot. Ji Yunfei’s hanging heart finally settled a bit. After giving him their location, she sat down with Xie Yin by a flower bed.
A restless hand pushed Xie Yin’s coat up past her elbow, and a moment later, a sharp, slight sting came from Ji Yunfei’s shoulder. Yunfei tilted her head, and her nose bumped into the crown of Xie Yin’s head.
The incoherent woman was acting like a puppy now, pressing close to the person beside her for security, her sharp teeth gently nibbling on Ji Yunfei’s shoulder.
Initially, Ji Yunfei planned to ignore it and let her be, but she soon found that the more she indulged her, the more the woman pushed her limits. The biting grew heavier.
“Hiss… Xie Yin! Let go!” Unable to take it anymore, she gave the “puppy head” a gentle pat. The pain on her shoulder subsided instantly. She sighed and looked down to see a faint red tooth mark, like a plum blossom in the snow—startlingly seductive.
“You rascal…” She wanted to scold her, but meeting Xie Yin’s watery, innocent eyes, Ji Yunfei felt as if a small stone had been tossed into her heart, sending out ripples of emotion. The harsh words simply wouldn’t come out.
Within her, desire was like a balloon inflating endlessly. Xie Yin’s mind was no longer clear; her remaining traces of logic were battling with lust. “Mm… kiss me, A-Fei.” She desperately needed Ji Yunfei’s comfort, even a simple kiss.
Gulp. Ji Yunfei swallowed involuntarily. The person before her was so alluring it was “illegal,” making one willing to surrender completely at her feet. Her hand uncontrollably tilted Xie Yin’s chin up. Ji Yunfei restrained herself and dropped a kiss on her forehead. “Be good. We’re still outside. Wait until we get home.”
“No… not enough. Kiss here.” Xie Yin pointed to her slightly pouted lips, her tone aggrieved. Under the lights, her lips shimmered with a faint moisture; although some lipstick had been licked away, she still evoked a powerful desire to taste them.
Ji Yunfei’s throat tightened, and she suddenly felt a dry sensation in her mouth. Watching the person slowly lean toward her, she closed her eyes.
Honk, honk—! An ill-timed, piercing horn broke the ambiguity between them, and the lingering atmosphere vanished in an instant.
Ji Yunfei jumped. Even though being close to her girlfriend was normal, she always felt a strange, inexplicable guilt.
“I’m sorry, Miss Ji, for interrupting you. How is the Miss?” The window of the business van rolled down, revealing Uncle Wang’s apologetic eyes. He looked at Xie Yin leaning in Yunfei’s arms and hesitated. “Do you need help?”
“I’m fine.” Ji Yunfei shook her head, holding the woman closer. “Uncle Wang, please open the door.”
The automatic sliding door opened. Ji Yunfei gritted her teeth and helped Xie Yin into the car. “Uncle Wang, back to Lanting Yayuan…”
Uncle Wang nodded and tactfully raised the privacy partition. Soon, the car started and smoothly glided onto the road home.
The person beside her had her eyes shut tight, her brow furrowed as if she were in pain. Seeing her like this, Ji Yunfei didn’t feel good either. She reached out to smooth the frown on Xie Yin’s face, but it was a futile effort. Watching herself unable to share Xie Yin’s burden, Ji Yunfei felt a deep sense of powerlessness—like a surgeon asked to treat a neurological disease without the proper tools.
Buzz, buzz, buzz— A phone vibrated.
Ji Yunfei instinctively checked her own phone and saw a message from Li Cheng.
Li Cheng: “Where are you and President Xie? The gala is over, why don’t I see you two?”
Ji Yunfei’s eye twitched; she had almost forgotten the others. Her thumb flew across the screen.
FFF: “President Xie isn’t feeling well. I contacted her driver to take her back, and I’ve gone home too.”
FFF: [Transfer: 1,000 RMB]
FFF: “President Xie said she’s sorry for ditching you. This is for you guys to get a nice meal as compensation for her leaving mid-way.”
[Transfer accepted]
Li Cheng: “Holy crap, President Xie is so generous! Thank her for us!”
After cleaning up the loose ends for Xie Yin, Ji Yunfei turned off the screen and tossed the phone aside. Only then did she feel the soreness spreading through the left side of her body.
Xie Yin had somehow wrapped herself around her like a swimming snake that couldn’t be peeled off. Her shallow breathing brushed against Ji Yunfei’s chest. Looking down, Yunfei saw the frown had finally smoothed out, and Xie Yin’s long, curled lashes fluttered like a butterfly’s wings.
“A-Fei…” Xie Yin mumbled something. Ji Yunfei couldn’t hear, so she leaned her ear close to her lips. “What did you say?”
“A-Fei, don’t leave…” This time, Ji Yunfei heard it clearly. Seeing the woman’s lack of security, a nameless corner of her heart softened. “I won’t leave…”
Whether it was because she heard the reply or because the car was steady enough, Xie Yin stopped mumbling and a faint smile appeared on her face, as if she were having a beautiful dream. Seeing this, Ji Yunfei chuckled and lightly scraped Xie Yin’s nose. “Just like a child…”
Holding the clingy Xie Yin, Ji Yunfei leaned back on the leather seat and began to reminisce about the recent events. Everything had progressed so bizarrely, yet it seemed to make sense in its own way. Returning to the village, meeting the “Snake Beauty,” the snake babies escaping, getting drunk at the bar, meeting Xie Yin, making a fool of herself…
Love at first sight. Before meeting Xie Yin, she never believed in it; she had even prepared herself to live a life of solitude as a “salted fish.” It wasn’t that she hadn’t tried flirting before, but without exception, things ended before they even began. She never found it interesting, only tedious—which was why she was still a “mother-solo” (never dated) at twenty-six.
However, she thought to herself, maybe she wasn’t that… clueless? Maybe it was just because she hadn’t met a truly compatible soul? And Xie Yin… seemed like a partner sent by heaven, the most perfect match for her. Or perhaps, they were destined from the start, and she had simply been waiting for her to appear all these years…
But…
Ji Yunfei suddenly thought of a certain “naughty fellow” who only appeared in her dreams, silently guarding her. The deliberate seduction, the lingering dreams, the kidnapping of the snake babies, and the constant protection throughout reincarnations to repay a debt…
Her view of that fellow was complicated. On one hand, she was touched that the other had sacrificed so much for her. But on the other hand, she felt mostly at a loss. She could tell the other’s feelings weren’t just about “repaying a debt.” The heart-pounding scenes from her dreams resurfaced from her memory; though she only remembered the gist, Ji Yunfei still felt a sense of shame.
Although she never had other feelings for that “naughty fellow”… did this count as infidelity?
She had never mentioned the “Snake Beauty” to Xie Yin, nor had she told her about these experiences. Although she justified it as helping the other through an estrus period in a dream, it still felt wrong… Maybe she should find a time to lay it all out for Xie Yin? If Xie Yin couldn’t accept it, she would pack her bags and disappear from her sight immediately, never to return. After all, a qualified “ex” should stay as quiet as the dead.
“Ah… so annoying…” After agonizing for a while, Ji Yunfei frustratedly ruffled her hair, her heart feeling an indescribable bitterness. Forget it. She shouldn’t be anxious about things that hadn’t happened yet; she should just live in the moment. Right now, she just wanted to cherish every day with Xie Yin. Every day that felt like a dream.
“Miss Ji, we’ve arrived.” It was Uncle Wang’s moderate voice that woke Ji Yunfei up.
Had she actually fallen asleep?
Ji Yunfei looked out the window with sleepy eyes and saw her familiar apartment building. She nodded to Uncle Wang. “Thank you, Uncle Wang.”
“It’s no trouble, it’s my job.” The honest middle-aged man smiled and joked, “After all, the salary Miss gives is quite generous. Being on call is the basic requirement.”
Ji Yunfei smiled but didn’t answer. She gently shook the person in her arms. “Xie Yin, we’re home…”
“Nn—” The only reply was a coquettish hum. Ji Yunfei had no choice but to wrap one arm around her waist and drape her arm over her own shoulder.
“Uncle Wang, it’s late. You should head back.”
“Alright.”
The roar of the engine echoed through the night and then faded into silence. Fortunately, there was an elevator, so it wasn’t too difficult. She soon brought Xie Yin to her front door.
However…
She looked at the two doors located not far apart and was stuck. Back to her own place…? Or send Xie Yin back to her own home…? Eventually, Ji Yunfei decided to head for Xie Yin’s door.
Beep, beep, beep—Incorrect password, please try again.
“?” Ji Yunfei was stunned. She remembered the password to Xie Yin’s door perfectly; how could it be wrong?
She tried to wake the woman leaning on her again. “Xie Yin, did you change your door code?”
“Mm… dynamic password… changes constantly… for safety.” This time Xie Yin responded; though it sounded like an old lady talking in her sleep, Ji Yunfei caught the gist.
“Then what’s the new code?”
“……” Her words fell to the floor without an answer.
In the end, Ji Yunfei had to accept her fate and pulled the woman back to her own home. But the moment they stepped inside, the person’s body suddenly became scorching hot once again.
“A-Fei… so hot, it hurts…”
