Beauty Snake - Chapter 30
Chapter 30: As Long As You Want It… I Can Give It All To You…
The moment they stepped out of the police station, Su Yao’s phone began to ring. Seeing the caller ID, Su Yao’s expression instantly darkened, and the aura around her turned cold.
“Hello?”
“Tomorrow night?”
“I understand…”
“Sigh…” Hanging up the phone, Su Yao let out a heavy sigh, her eyes filled with endless frustration.
“Sister Yao, what’s wrong? Why the heavy sighing?” Seeing this, Ji Yunfei took the initiative to check on her.
“My parents are pressuring me to go on a blind date again… I can’t dodge it anymore.”
“Hey… actually, A-Fei…”
Su Yao leaned down and whispered something into Ji Yunfei’s ear. Ji Yunfei’s pupils dilated, her face a mask of disbelief.
Su Yao wanted her to pose as her girlfriend to wreck the blind date?? That sounded completely unreliable!!
“That… isn’t that inappropriate?”
Sensing the hesitation in Ji Yunfei’s voice, Su Yao blinked and tapped Ji Yunfei’s shoulder, giving her a confident smile: “What’s inappropriate about it? It’s the perfect way to kill their desire to set me up with men once and for all… Big sister wants to be beautiful and single~”
Ji Yunfei had always disliked owing people favors. Su Yao had just helped her out of a jam; she could use this to settle the debt. Perfect! Having rationalized it, Ji Yunfei felt the burden lift from her heart. She nodded and accepted Su Yao’s request.
“Fine… alright then.”
“A-Fei is the best—” Receiving a definitive answer, Su Yao was internally ecstatic, though she maintained her outward composure. She wrapped her arms tightly around Ji Yunfei, resting her head on Ji Yunfei’s shoulder.
“Sister Yao… too tight, let go a bit…” Ji Yunfei felt incredibly awkward. She wasn’t used to such physical intimacy and struggled to push Su Yao away.
“This is just to help you get used to it~ There’s going to be plenty of physical contact tomorrow night~”
“Why are you still as shy as ever?”
Sensing Ji Yunfei’s reluctance, Su Yao didn’t force it. She let go, and though she felt a flash of disappointment, she winked and teased her instead.
“Oh, stop making fun of me… you know my personality best.”
“The ride is here. Let’s go, let’s go—” Embarrassed by the teasing, Ji Yunfei hurried to change the subject and led Su Yao into the waiting car.
The following evening arrived quickly. Ji Yunfei was dragged by Su Yao to get dressed up early on.
She looked at herself in the mirror: a simple yet elegant white dress, her hair slightly curled and cascading over her shoulders. With light makeup on, she looked less like a soul-crushed corporate worker and more like a gentle, refined lady.
“Is… is this really me?” Ji Yunfei rubbed her eyes in disbelief, afraid it was all an illusion. This was her first time trying such a “soft” style; it felt foreign to her.
“Ah—our A-Fei is so beautiful—” Su Yao stared at the transformed Ji Yunfei, her eyes full of admiration. Noticing Ji Yunfei’s lack of confidence, she offered generous praise with a smile.
“Hehe… it’s nothing, really…” Hearing the compliments, Ji Yunfei scratched her head sheepishly, her heart fluttering with a bit of joy.
With everything ready, Su Yao linked her arm with Ji Yunfei’s. Overcoming her slight discomfort, Ji Yunfei didn’t pull away. The two chatted casually as they made their way to the designated restaurant.
However, before they had gone far, a car horn honked behind them. They reflexively turned to see a black sedan slowly pulling over. The window rolled down, revealing a face wearing a “wicked” and gossipy smirk.
“Su Yao… I didn’t see this coming… and this is?” The woman in the car spoke slowly, her tone dripping with curiosity.
“Can’t tell? My girlfriend…” Su Yao smiled and nudged Ji Yunfei’s arm, the pride in her eyes nearly overflowing.
“No, it’s—” Ji Yunfei tried to explain, but Su Yao tugged at her sleeve. Turning, she met Su Yao’s pleading eyes.
Fine… Ji Yunfei chose to mute herself. Help the person all the way, play the scene to the end…
After the nosy woman sped away, Su Yao patted Ji Yunfei’s back with a sheepish grin: “Thank you for not exposing me, A-Fei! That’s a colleague from my school; she loves gossiping and matchmaking more than anything. After this, she definitely won’t bother me anymore!”
Su Yao pressed her hands together in a prayer gesture and bowed slightly, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“What a mess…”
“Let’s go, to the restaurant. I can’t wait to start my dramatic performance.”
Ji Yunfei grabbed Su Yao’s hand and charged forward, failing to notice Su Yao’s momentary stun and the fleeting flash of joy in her eyes.
“Wrong way! It’s this way…”
“According to the plan, I’ll go in first. When you see me give the ‘OK’ sign, you charge in. Got it?” Standing before the restaurant, Su Yao turned and gave Ji Yunfei a smiling reminder.
“Understood, understood. Leave it to me!” Ji Yunfei arched an eyebrow and patted her chest with confidence. After years in the corporate world, she could guarantee her acting skills were top-tier! Hiring her was a bargain!
“Good, I trust you~” Su Yao pinched Ji Yunfei’s cheek, turned, and entered the restaurant to find a window seat.
Soon, a polite-looking man entered. He wore a light blue shirt, beige khakis, and black-rimmed glasses, with a courteous smile on his face. He sat opposite Su Yao. Through the glass window, Ji Yunfei locked eyes with Su Yao and understood the signal.
Ji Yunfei stepped over and sat on a bench directly facing the window, glancing around while keeping an eye on the movement inside.
“Pretty sister…”
While she was lost in thought, she felt a gentle tug on her sleeve and heard a small, tender voice. Looking down, she saw a young girl in somewhat ragged clothes. More notably, there was a small cart of roses beside her.
“Pretty sister… please buy a few flowers? They’re perfect for friends or lovers…”
Seeing that she had Ji Yunfei’s attention, the girl spoke shyly, her voice soft.
“Mmm… how much for a flower?” Ji Yunfei looked at the girl’s faded clothes and then at the cart of roses, a whimsical idea forming in her mind.
“Five yuan each…” The girl fidgeted with her hem, finally holding up five fingers, her voice trembling slightly.
“Then I’ll take one…” Ji Yunfei pulled out a five-yuan bill, tucked it into the girl’s pocket, and carefully selected a rose to fiddle with.
“Thank you, sister!” Seeing that Ji Yunfei actually bought one, the girl’s voice grew excited. She bowed and prepared to push her cart away.
“Mmm… one rose… I’ll make a grand entrance with the rose in my mouth like a boss…”
“Little girl, I’ll take the whole cart of flowers.”
Just as Ji Yunfei was deep in her heroic fantasy, a voice that was all too familiar reached her ears once again.
Her heart raced uncontrollably. She snapped her head around and saw the black-haired woman crouching down to eye level with the little girl.
It was Xie Yin again.
Ji Yunfei watched as Xie Yin whispered something into the girl’s ear. The girl happily pulled out a QR code; Xie Yin scanned it and paid in one smooth motion. When it was done, the girl skipped away excitedly, and Xie Yin began pulling the cart of roses slowly toward Ji Yunfei.
Ji Yunfei’s heart was in conflict. Logic told her to find an excuse to run, but her heart couldn’t bear to leave.
Soon, a shadow fell over her—Xie Yin had come to a stop in front of her.
“Do you like these flowers?”
“That little girl was selling them for five yuan each…”
“I’m selling them for zero.”
“As long as you want them, I’ll give them to you…” Xie Yin paused, then continued: “So… do you want them?”
Ji Yunfei desperately wanted to refuse, but the words wouldn’t come out. She opened her mouth, but ultimately met the offer with silence. She lowered her head, not knowing how to respond. But soon, the seat beside her was occupied, and the shadow above her head was replaced by the dim yellow glow of the streetlights.
“Lately, you’ve been avoiding me like I’m a poisonous snake… why?” Xie Yin leaned in, hoping to hear the answer from her.
“CEO Xie, you’re overthinking it.”
“But I am curious, how do I keep running into you?”
At this, Ji Yunfei finally looked up, narrowing her eyes as she waited for Xie Yin’s “excuse.”
“Ahem…”
“Do you believe in a saying?”
“Fate is predetermined by the heavens.”
“Since we coincidentally meet so often… it means we have a lot of ‘Yuanfen’ (fate).”
Xie Yin sounded like a fortune teller, tracing a finger through the air as she spoke mysteriously. Seeing her acting like a con artist, Ji Yunfei found it a bit funny, but the memory of the garden scene instantly killed her smile.
She thought for a moment, her lips curling as she prepared a sarcastic retort, when her eyes caught Su Yao inside the restaurant. Su Yao was constantly glancing at her from the corner of her eye, her hand stuck in an “OK” sign for so long it was nearly cramping.
“I almost forgot the mission!”
Seeing Su Yao’s anxious state, Ji Yunfei didn’t have time to mock Xie Yin. She clutched her single rose and unceremoniously snatched several more from Xie Yin’s cart.
“Since CEO Xie said I could have them if I wanted them… then I won’t be polite.”
“You can give the rest to Miss Rika to show your ‘loyalty,’ can’t you?”
“Now, I have a good show to perform. I won’t be staying. Bye~”
Ji Yunfei arched an eyebrow playfully and walked toward the restaurant with the bouquet… leaving Xie Yin with nothing but her silhouette.
