As a Scummy Omega, I Ran Away with the Baby - Chapter 19
“…Of course.”
Bai Qingqiu’s tone was indifferent, as though she didn’t wish to continue the topic. Gu Yining wisely fell silent, leaning against her, quietly savoring this moment of tenderness.
She was half a head taller than Bai Qingqiu, so she had to curl up slightly, like a fledgling tucked in its nest, baring the vulnerable curve of her neck to her.
Thump, thump.
The steady, powerful rhythm of Bai Qingqiu’s heartbeat pulsed through the warmth of her skin into Gu Yining’s ear. Her eyes stung for no reason, tears threatening to spill as she burrowed even closer.
Now she understood why Bai Qingqiu liked listening to her heartbeat. Gu Yining couldn’t help but grow addicted to this simple sense of security. She thought, if only things could stay this way forever.
But deep down, she knew this warmth was nothing more than a carefully woven cage Bai Qingqiu had built for her.
“Bai Qingqiu…” Gu Yining murmured, her voice thick with reluctance.
Bai Qingqiu lowered her gaze, puzzled. “Hm? What is it?” A strand of hair, fragrant with magnolia, brushed against Gu Yining’s shoulder, tickling her skin.
Gu Yining hooked a finger around that strand, winding it tighter and tighter around her fingertip. Bai Qingqiu tilted her head, smiling softly, letting her play this childish game.
The hair coiled so tightly that it pressed little grooves into her fingertip. Gu Yining flexed her finger but found she couldn’t easily free herself from the silky trap.
Staring at her finger ensnared by hair, Gu Yining suddenly realized—wasn’t this just like her? A little bit of care, a little bit of love—at first, she could still pull away with ease. But over 1,643 days and nights, the strands had multiplied, winding around her until she was bound too tightly to escape.
Love and tenderness—both comfort, and cage.
When her fingertip turned red from lack of blood, she calmly unwound the hair. The moment it was free, the skin flushed back to its natural pale pink.
Bai Qingqiu laughed, reached out, and pinched her nose. Her gaze softened, brimming with lingering affection.
“Childish.”
“Am I always like a kid in your eyes?” Gu Yining asked, blinking up at her.
“Well… you are much younger than me. When I was in primary school, you hadn’t even been born yet.” Bai Qingqiu paused, then quickly added, as though afraid to hurt her feelings: “But Gu Yining is Gu Yining. The one and only.”
“Yes, I am me.” Not some cheap stand-in for Bei Nanyan.
Looking at Bai Qingqiu’s face—the gentle mask she always wore—an overwhelming urge rose in Gu Yining’s chest. She wanted to shatter that façade.
And so, she did.
Her hands shot up, clasping tightly behind Bai Qingqiu’s head. Without hesitation, she yanked her down and pressed her lips hard against hers.
The sudden force left Bai Qingqiu startled. She furrowed her brows and pushed firmly at her shoulders. Between an Omega and an Alpha, there was a fundamental difference in strength.
Bai Qingqiu’s muscles tensed, veins standing out on her temples, but to Gu Yining, her resistance felt no stronger than a kitten’s paw.
“Mmph… mmph!”
Whatever words Bai Qingqiu tried to form were swallowed by the kiss, reduced to muffled, futile sounds.
Gu Yining’s tongue slid past parted lips, tasting and plundering the faint magnolia lingering there. Her hand caressed the curve of Bai Qingqiu’s ear before finding the warm, sensitive gland at her neck. She pressed down—not too hard, not too soft.
The Omega instantly lost all strength, collapsing into her arms.
Only then did Gu Yining mercifully let her go.
Bai Qingqiu gasped for air, mouth parted, her flushed face damp with a sheen of sweat, disheveled hair plastered to her cheeks.
“Gu Yining!”
Her eyes brimmed with reproach, but they were far too soft—closer to a lover’s petulant scolding than true anger.
Seeing her in such disarray because of her, Gu Yining felt an inexplicable rush of pride, a strange, satisfied pleasure curling at her lips.
“Sorry—”
The apology she had planned never made it out. Suddenly, her vision darkened as Bai Qingqiu forced her down onto the sofa.
The cold leather pressed against her body, making her shiver.
“You cannot leave me. Never. Not in this lifetime.”
Hovering over her, Bai Qingqiu’s voice was commanding, brooking no refusal.
Gu Yining averted her gaze, guilt making her flinch, but Bai Qingqiu grasped her face and forced her to look back. Before she could shape another lie, Bai Qingqiu’s lips crashed against hers.
“Mm!”
Gu Yining gasped in shock.
