She took it out and smelled it, planning to put it back. But the string-of-pearls plant in her pocket smelled it, stretched its leaves, and pitifully caressed her cheek. Seeing that the string-of-pearls plant liked it, she simply poured all of it into the clump of soil.

After confirming this, Wen Yishu left under the cover of night.

The energy reserves were not optimistic. The lights in every household in the city were basically off.

The original dazzling nightlife of the city was completely gone after 11 PM. The night vision function of the glasses was very useful. She walked between buildings as if on flat ground and soon arrived at the quarantine zone.

Because it was unsafe, residents basically didn’t come here. This place was blocked by high wire fences.

The light from the watchtower occasionally swept across the ground in front of Wen Yishu. She simply climbed the ventilation duct of the hangar and went back the same way she came.

After traveling light, Wen Yishu was not as disheveled as she was at the beginning. Aix’s gentle voice came from her headset: “Your risk factor is 100%.”

Wen Yishu tried to breathe in small sips: “Is that so? Am I going to be choked to death by the dust?”

Aix: “You’re joking. You’re very likely to be discovered. I don’t have an internal map of the quarantine zone. This building is newly built.”

Wen Yishu regretted taking a shower just now. The dust in the duct hadn’t decreased. She was still covered in dust. While climbing, she said to Aix: “That’s your problem to worry about. If you can’t do it, it’s your incompetence.”

There was a moment of silence in the headset. The artificial intelligence was thinking of a new sentence. There was a saying for this phenomenon in Rhine: the robot was speechless. She was wondering if her request was too much.

Aix’s voice sounded again: “Apologies, floor scanned.”

Wen Yishu stopped moving in surprise: “Didn’t Bai Mi say you can’t connect to the internet?”

Aix’s voice was as gentle as ever: “I have directly connected to the satellite map for you. Please check.”

Wen Yishu raised an eyebrow. It seemed that she couldn’t question Aix’s authority. She felt that she could hear a hint of gritting teeth in the calm tone.

After the quarantine station lost power, everyone had to lie on their beds. In the dead of night, only Wen Yishu was walking cautiously on the road. She observed and listened to Aix’s instructions to avoid the surveillance areas.

This newly built quarantine area didn’t have many surveillance cameras. She squatted in a hidden corner.

She opened her tablet. They hadn’t sent her a message for a day. She didn’t know where they were now.

She squatted under the small window between two rooms. The quarantine housing here was not very good. Wen Yishu could only be careful not to make any noise, to avoid being heard by the people inside.

She squatted below and subconsciously looked up. The small house in the quarantine zone had a miniature window with a security bar on it. It felt better to live in a federal prison than in a house like this.

Wen Yishu held up the tablet and made a shushing motion to her. Huang Fei covered her mouth and finally calmed down.

She looked at Wen Yishu nervously and excitedly, then looked at the words on the tablet: Are you okay? Do you know where Xiao Shuang and the others went?

Huang Fei’s heart was beating fast. Although the most dangerous place was the safest place, this was too dangerous. She didn’t know how Wen Yishu had gotten in and how she had sneaked into the quarantine zone.

She quickly typed in her memo: I’m fine. Ling Shuang and the others were arrested. They said it’s related to you. I wasn’t with them, so I’m in quarantine now. They seem to have gone to the interrogation room in the south. You should leave quickly. They’re looking for you here. It’s not safe!

Wen Yishu: It’s okay. Take care of yourself. Don’t tell anyone I came here. Don’t contact Xiao Shuang and the others. I’m leaving now.

Wen Yishu’s figure flashed. Huang Fei hadn’t finished typing her worried words. She could only watch her figure disappear around the corner.

She didn’t need to look for the interrogation room at all. The only brightly lit building was that one. The guards at the quarantine zone were very strict at night, but there were very few people outside the interrogation room.

Wen Yishu still chose to climb into the ventilation duct. The hangar and interrogation room here were old buildings, which gave her plenty of room to maneuver.

Maybe it was too dark. Two guards who walked past her just thought she was a companion and didn’t even look at her as they walked past.

Wen Yishu broke out in a cold sweat. After skillfully removing the vent cover of the ventilation duct, Wen Yishu stuck some soundproof foam on her shoes and began the arduous journey of climbing the ventilation duct again. It was much cleaner in here than in the hangar.

Wen Yishu had to press her ear against the duct to barely hear the last sentence: “Of course, it’s the mute…”

The mute? Wen Yishu was a little confused at first, then Bai Mi’s face appeared in her mind.

She held her breath and climbed towards the other side of the ventilation duct, in the direction they had come from.

She looked at a few places and found Ling Shuang and You Ning, both lying motionless on the bed, but she didn’t have time to care about the two of them.

She had gone the wrong way. After re-examining the map, Wen Yishu climbed towards the right side of where she had come from.

The light in front of her became brighter. The metal grid of the ventilation duct left a fine impression on her palm. Wen Yishu held her breath and looked down at the interrogation room through the gap.

She saw Bai Mi looking straight ahead without any expression. You Zhi was standing behind her, leaning his hands on the chair behind her.

“I really don’t understand, Team Leader Bai Mi. Your great future was ruined by a traitor. Don’t you feel resentful? If you stay silent to protect her, did she ever think about you?”

You Zhi seemed to think that the person in front of him was not a threat. Bai Mi’s hands were not cuffed like the others.

She just sat quietly in the chair. A button on her white shirt was undone. There were still red marks on her neck from where she had been choked. Her hair was a little messy and stuck to her pale face.

What You Zhi was most annoyed about was people who were disobedient and didn’t respond to either a hard or soft approach. As long as he could pry open her mouth, he could happily interrogate the rest of them one by one.

“I really don’t want you to be like this. I’ll give you ten seconds to think about it. If you’re still like this, I’ll increase the dosage and let you taste a life worse than death.”

Wen Yishu first breathed a sigh of relief. After hearing You Zhi’s words, her heart was in her throat again. Why didn’t she resist when she wasn’t restrained?

She anxiously adjusted her posture in the ventilation duct. There was an IV line in Bai Mi’s hand. You Zhi had already adjusted the syringe. He tapped his quantum computer and projected the time.

The countdown was fleeting. The syringe was pushed as scheduled. At the same time, the person below her slightly raised her head, accurately scanning the back of the ventilation duct and meeting her eyes.

Wen Yishu’s pupils shrank, and her knuckles turned white.

—She was acting!

But Wen Yishu didn’t have time to hesitate. She kicked open the ventilation cover!

You Zhi was startled by the noise behind him. He turned around to pull out his gun, but his neck was grabbed.

Wen Yishu’s short blade accurately pierced his neck. As You Zhi fell, the white figure’s mouth curled into a smile, and she fell into her arms.
