Apocalyptic Charity Plan [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 10
Jiang Fanxing was covered in bruises, and there was not a single inch of his body that did not ache. Because his skin had been in intimate contact with these outsiders, his entire body felt itchy and uncomfortable, as if he were being gnawed on by ants. The attackers were in no better condition, as each of them bore multiple knife wounds and suffered from severe physical exhaustion. Some had even collapsed from blood loss. They could not understand how this green-skinned guy was so difficult to handle. He clearly lacked any martial arts training and just swung his knife wildly, yet his stamina was seemingly endless.
If Jiang Fanxing knew what they were thinking, he would have told them to turn green themselves. The chloroplasts in his body ensured he was always well-nourished and energetic. While they did not increase his offensive power, his stamina was unparalleled. He could feel exhausted, but his energy simply would not run out. Relying on this superior stamina, Jiang Fanxing eventually wore them down and neutralized the entire group.
Having been wronged by these people twice, and realizing their behavior had transcended simple survival instincts, all his remaining goodwill toward them vanished. Ignoring the wailing men on the ground, he went to the fire to rescue the child. The little boy was teary-eyed. He pulled the rag from his mouth, threw it aside, and reached out to hug Jiang Fanxing. Jiang Fanxing did not accept the embrace; instead, he picked up the silk scarf from the ground and patted the boy’s head through the fabric. He said, “Be good, go back to the secret room.”
The child, having survived such a harrowing ordeal, understood what was about to happen. Instead of being afraid, he obediently nodded and crawled into the secret room. Once Li Zhenyang was hidden, Jiang Fanxing wiped his injured mouth, his gaze turning icy as he looked at the dozen men on the ground. Some people were simply not worth saving. When he met their eyes, they shivered in terror. Suddenly remembering something, Jiang Fanxing took out the white fox mask he had not used in a while and put it on. Only then did he fix his gaze on them again, slowly raising his blood-stained military knife. His arm trembled slightly, but his footsteps were exceptionally firm as he approached them.
“Don’t come over! I was wrong, I won’t dare do it again, don’t kill me!” “Help!”
The men looked at Jiang Fanxing as if he were a night demon. Gone was their previous arrogance. They scrambled backward on their hands and feet, yet they could not escape the blade. His hand shook when he slit the first man’s throat, but by the second and third, his hand was steady.
“Bang!”
An explosion suddenly erupted near his feet, leaving a deep crater and sending a chill down his spine. He froze, terrified that the next bullet might strike his forehead.
“Don’t move! Drop your weapon!”
The coldness in the voice nearly froze Jiang Fanxing in place. He panicked for a moment but quickly calmed down. Not daring to look up, he dropped the knife and slowly raised his hands above his head. “I am a good person.” He said this without a shred of guilt.
However, when he finally looked up, he was met with a familiar face. His pupils contracted, and his heart raced. He struggled to remain calm, fearing that any slip-up would reveal his identity. It was that soldier!
The aura of the four men led by Xie Yunqing was stern, quite different from the other four rescue team members. They stood out among the group. The composition of three men and one woman immediately reminded Jiang Fanxing of the moment before he entered the rift, when he accidentally saw them getting off their military vehicle. How did they get in here too? Jiang Fanxing immediately queried his system, 110, but received an unknown response. Knowing he could not rely on the system, he suppressed his anxiety and waited for them to approach, his heart pounding against his ribs.
Xie Yunqing and his team did not recognize him, but they were wary of his bizarre appearance. As soldiers, they were staunch atheists, but they could not comprehend how someone could be entirely green, with such intricate shading. Despite the mask, the hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes visible were deep green, the skin a tender green, and the irises and lips a lighter shade. Zhou Peng was still pondering what kind of medication could turn a person green when he heard the Captain say, “Zhou Peng, go save the people.”
He quickly snapped to attention, replied that he understood, and rushed toward the heavily wounded men with his medical kit. Xie Yunqing handcuffed Jiang Fanxing and had Zhang Zhiyuan guard him while he surveyed the scene. The others went to assist Zhou Peng in treating the wounded.
Jiang Fanxing stayed obediently to the side, his guard’s gaze almost searing his mask. He was deeply grateful he had worn it because of the bruises. Even though these people likely did not know him, he feared that if his face were exposed, they might recognize him in the real world. If they discovered his special abilities and sent him to a laboratory to be dissected, what then? Innumerable horror stories of inhumane human experiments flashed through his mind, hardening his resolve to remain hidden.
Watching them bandage the survivors and feed them nutrient solution, Jiang Fanxing could no longer sit still. He shouted to Xie Yunqing, who was clearly the leader, “Sir, it was all an accident! I only acted in self-defense!”
Everyone turned to look at him. Xie Yunqing glanced at the scattered food and water on the ground before turning to him. Before he could ask anything, one of the survivors yelled indignantly, “He is lying! He saw we had food and drink, so he wanted to kill us to steal it!”
The accusation was full of holes, but the survivor believed it, and the others, having convinced themselves, cried out for justice to the rescue team.
“He killed so many people! He is a demon with no humanity! Don’t let him go, kill him!” “Yes! Looking at him reminds me of my murdered relatives. If he lives, he will just come for us again! You must not leave a murderer like this alive!”
Zhou Peng, who was bandaging a knife wound on a survivor’s arm, frowned when the man started flailing his arms and shouting, causing the unknotted bandage to spill blood all over his gloves. He restrained himself from scolding the man, instead saying patiently, “I am trying to bandage you. Don’t move, or you will worsen your injury.”
He could pacify one person, but not the entire group. They continued to glare at Jiang Fanxing with hatred. Faced with these accusations and the suspicious glares of the rescue team, Jiang Fanxing remained calm and defended himself to Xie Yunqing: “These people are ingrates. I gave them water the day before yesterday, and they tried to kill me, so I escaped. But I still wanted to save them, so I went to the World of Ice and Snow specifically to bring them water. Who knew that upon returning, I would see them robbing the food and water of the child I had saved? Even worse, they would not even spare the child they saw grow up and were attempting to burn him alive. It was only when I saw that, that I lost my temper and fought them.”
Xie Yunqing and his team noticed the fire pit and the rope nearby, which clearly corroborated Jiang Fanxing’s account. The survivors were a bit flustered, but they insisted he was lying, claiming they were not trying to burn the child but were just roasting potatoes. Jiang Fanxing looked at them as if they were fools. Had they forgotten there was a witness?
He continued, “The child is in the secret room of the cowshed. You can verify it.”
Before the team could move, Li Zhenyang, who had been listening to the commotion, heard Jiang Fanxing’s words and crawled out. Seeing several strangers staring at him, he was frightened, but remembering Jiang Fanxing’s predicament, he ran to his side. He whispered “Brother,” and seeing the handcuffs, reached out to try and remove them. Jiang Fanxing appreciated the gesture but did not want physical contact, so he lifted his wrists slightly to distract him. “Little one, tell these uncles and aunties what you experienced.”
Li Zhenyang forgot about the handcuffs, hid timidly behind Jiang Fanxing, and looked up at the adults, initially too afraid to speak. Lin Zihan picked up a lollipop that had nearly melted into water, crouched down in front of Li Zhenyang, and handed it to him gently. “Little brother, don’t be afraid. We are here to rescue you. We are taking you to a place with lots of people, where there are many other children. You will definitely like it.”
Friendship is something a child cannot resist. Hearing this, Li Zhenyang’s eyes brightened, but he did not take the candy, looking instead at Jiang Fanxing. Jiang Fanxing nodded. “What this auntie said is true.”
Li Zhenyang finally believed them. He took the candy with his small, dirty hand but did not eat it, watching Lin Zihan obediently. Lin Zihan softened and asked, “Little brother, did you hear what the brother beside you just said?”
Li Zhenyang recalled the fear and nodded. “I heard.” Lin Zihan followed up: “Is what the big brother said true?” “It is true,” Li Zhenyang said firmly.
He looked at the uncles and aunties in the distance with confusion, not realizing that when Jiang Fanxing had left during the day, it was to save them. But when he thought about how he had saved them and they still wanted to kill him, rob him, and kill him, his grief overflowed, and he burst into tears. “They… they took the things the brother gave me, and said they wanted to roast and eat me. Pang Pang and the others were already eaten… I do not want to be eaten… wuwuwu…”
The implications were massive. Xie Yunqing and his team looked at the survivors they had just rescued with newfound disgust. Jiang Fanxing blinked, looked down at the child weeping in Lin Zihan’s arms, and could not help but curl his lips.
Zhou Peng, who was cleaning a stomach wound for one of the survivors, suddenly dug into the wound, causing the man to scream in agony. Zhou Peng hardened his face and glared viciously at him; the man trembled and stopped screaming immediately. Thinking about how he had used his precious hands to save a bunch of human scum, Zhou Peng was so angry he wanted to slit their throats.
Accused of attempted cannibalism, the survivors shivered under the cold stares of Xie Yunqing and his team. “It was not us! We did not eat anyone!”
Jiang Fanxing added fuel to the fire, “He is just a child. Why would he lie?”
