- Chapter 70 - Did You Fall for Me at First Sight?
Li Su’s black high heels pressed against Huo Xuanye’s chest.
Oh, it was his chest.
She had been terrified for a moment.
But if there had been no one around, Li Su believed Huo Xuanye would have let her step there.
His kinks were just… strange.
Maybe it was because he had been mischievous as a child and often got beaten.
Now that he was grown up and no one hit him anymore, he felt restless.
Huo Xuanye rubbed his thumb against her ankle bone. “Wife, step on me.”
Li Su replied softly, “I am.”
Just resting her foot on his chest should be enough, right?
She didn’t actually need to press down, did she?
She wasn’t using any force.
The staff nearby looked utterly enthralled.
“Damn, this is so intense!”
“Sister-in-law and younger brother!”
“Aren’t they married?”
“They are now, but before, she was his sister-in-law!”
“Didn’t you know? Miss Li’s former fiancé was President Huo’s older brother.”
“How did President Huo manage to take his place?”
“How would we know?”
“Probably because he’s shameless!”
“Everyone knows the elder Huo was cold, reserved, and silent, nothing like the younger Huo, who knows how to have fun. Women, after living a calm life for too long, crave a little excitement.”
“I wonder if, when they’re in bed at night, the younger Huo calls Miss Li ‘sister-in-law’~”
The staff huddled in a corner, gossiping in hushed tones.
Their words drifted intermittently to Li Su and Huo Xuanye’s ears.
“Sister-in-law~”
Huo Xuanye smirked, dragging out the word with a teasing lilt. “Do you like it when I call you that?”
Li Su lifted her toes slightly, pressing them against his collarbone. “Do you like it when I step on you like this?”
“Love it.”
More than love it.
He adored it.
His precious wife’s legs had healed.
The photographer snapped away furiously.
Li Su and Huo Xuanye’s visuals were too perfect, hardly any retouching would be needed.
Huo Xuanye’s gaze was smoldering, deep and seductive. In the dimly lit office, he looked like a male fox spirit, utterly bewitching.
“You still haven’t answered me~”
“Darling~”
One moment he called her “darling,” the next “sister-in-law.”
Li Su suspected Huo Xuanye had a thing for roleplay.
Since it was his birthday, she slowly curved her lips. “I like it too~”
Huo Xuanye’s eyes darkened.
Did she like him calling her “sister-in-law,” or did she actually like his brother?
After finishing this set of photos, they changed outfits.
This time, the setting was simple, just a mirror.
Li Su wore a cyan classical dance dress, the sheer fabric soft and ethereal, with an oversized flowing skirt. Her hair was loosely braided to the side, secured with a hairpin.
Li Su was trained in classical dance.
This kind of styling was familiar to her.
But because of her leg injury, she hadn’t dressed like this in a long time.
Huo Xuanye wore a shirt in the same shade as her dress, paired with black trousers. His hair was slightly disheveled as he sat in front of the mirror, one long leg crossed over the other.
One classical, one modern.
It felt like a collision across time.
Li Su would probably be satisfied with how this set turned out.
They first took a few shots of Li Su performing simple dance movements, then moved on to photos of the two of them.
Through the mirror, they seemed almost able to touch.
Their fingertips were a mere centimeter apart, yet never quite meeting.
Their eyes locked, words left unspoken.
Huo Xuanye felt that, in this moment, their dynamic was just like before his brother’s accident.
Back then, he could only watch as Li Su and his brother grew close. He hadn’t been allowed to touch even a strand of her hair.
After hours of shooting, Li Su was exhausted. All she wanted to do when they got home was sleep.
But Huo Xuanye carried her to the bathtub for a soak.
A purely innocent one.
Huo Xuanye was uncharacteristically well-behaved, giving her a massage without any wandering hands.
She decided to praise him for it.
The next day.
Li Su woke up naturally, feeling utterly refreshed.
After all, vacations were meant for resting, sleeping, leisurely walks, good food, and taking photos.
She glanced to the side, Huo Xuanye was still asleep.
Not wanting to get up just yet, she deliberately draped one leg over his and picked up her phone to scroll through.
As usual, she first replied to messages before checking her social feed.
Good heavens!
Huo Xuanye had gone ahead and spoiled the surprise, he’d asked the crew to send him behind-the-scenes footage from their shoot and posted it online.
Even Huo Zhenzhou had liked it.
He must have done it on purpose, just to rub it in his brother’s face.
Suddenly, Li Su felt a faint tickling sensation on her leg, warm fingers tracing slow circles along her calf.
Her gaze drifted to Huo Xuanye’s face as he stirred awake.
He was conscious now, though his eyes remained closed.
His hand continued caressing her leg as he turned onto his side, pulling her into his arms and instinctively pressing his hips against her.
“Wife~”
“Happy birthday~”
Li Su’s eyes softened. “I hope you stay safe and healthy forever, and never lose your memories again.”
The thought of amnesia filled her with dread.
So her wish for him was simple: no more memory loss. It was the most sincere blessing she could give.
Huo Xuanye tightened his embrace. “I won’t. Even if I did, I’d fall for you all over again.”
“So sure of yourself?”
Huo Xuanye murmured, “I think I would. Even back when I didn’t realize I liked you, I always thought you shone brighter than anyone else. Stunning at first sight, and every time after, you made everyone around you fade into the background.”
“Huo Xuanye~”
Li Su gently cupped his cheek. “Did you fall for me at first sight?”
“I, I…”
“Did I?”
“I just thought you were amazing, gorgeous, an incredible dancer, truly the pinnacle of our country’s artistry.”
The more Huo Xuanye tried to explain, the quieter his voice became under Li Su’s gaze.
If he hadn’t even realized he liked her back then, how could he have noticed something like love at first sight?
“If not, then no big deal. I was just teasing. No need to get so flustered~”
Li Su closed her eyes and nestled against his chest. “Let’s sleep a little longer~”
She drifted off peacefully, leaving Huo Xuanye staring blankly into space.
How long have I actually been secretly in love with Li Su?
How did I not know?
Am I really that emotionally dense?
On Sunday, Li Su and Huo Xuanye returned to the capital and headed straight to the theater.
Tonight was Lin Yaoqing’s performance.
Even if it hadn’t been her, Li Su would’ve attended anyway.
As a dancer herself, she loved watching live performances.
When they arrived at their reserved seats, they spotted Huo Zhenzhou already there.
“Bro!”
Huo Xuanye greeted him.
“You’re back.” Huo Zhenzhou’s gaze lingered on Li Su’s face as his fingers “absentmindedly” twisted the ring on his hand.
Li Su recognized it instantly, their engagement ring.
Huo Xuanye noticed it too.
Now that his brother had regained his memories, he was pulling out all the stops.
Even digging up the old engagement ring.
Where did he even find it?
Huo Xuanye sat down beside Huo Zhenzhou, no way was he letting Li Su sit next to him now.
The performance began shortly after, and Li Su immersed herself in the dance.
Huo Xuanye, however, was lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Huo Zhenzhou’s sidelong glances kept drifting past Huo Xuanye, stealing glimpses of Li Su.
She was just as captivated by dance as ever, her eyes alight with admiration for the performers.
But she no longer belonged to him.
Lin Yaoqing’s performance came to an end, and the venue erupted with enthusiastic applause.
Standing under the spotlight with a microphone in hand, she said, “Thank you all for your love. I’m incredibly, incredibly happy today because I saw my dear friend Li Su here in the audience tonight.”
“Su Su, say hello to everyone!”
