- Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother
- Chapter 68 - I Curse You to Die Alone
Since the divorce, Huo Zhenzhou hadn’t seen Zhou Motang.
During his business trip, he had heard rumors that she had been frequenting nightclubs, surrounded by male escorts.
Yet now, she was curled up in his wardrobe, her figure noticeably thinner.
“Get out.”
Huo Zhenzhou stepped back.
Zhou Motang hugged her knees, sitting inside the wardrobe, trembling with fear and nervousness.
Hunched over, she slowly crawled out.
Huo Zhenzhou’s expression was icy, his gaze toward her as indifferent as if she were a stranger.
No.
Even worse than a stranger.
He wouldn’t look at a stranger with such disgust.
His voice was frosty. “How did you get in?”
“When the garbage truck came to collect trash, I slipped in through the side door…”
Having lived in the Huo residence for months, Zhou Motang knew the place well.
She had spent days waiting for this opportunity.
She looked at him. “A-Zhou, I missed you so much.”
“Don’t say such disgusting things.” Huo Zhenzhou’s face darkened. “What are you doing here?”
“I… I…”
Zhou Motang hesitated, avoiding his question. Instead, she sobbed,
“I almost died… I almost died…”
“I went to find you, but Huo Xuanye said you were on a business trip, that you weren’t in the country.”
“It must have been your brother who set me up. The money you gave me is all gone. If it weren’t for the diamond ring you left behind, I wouldn’t have survived.”
Tears streaming down her face, she moved toward him.
“Stop. Don’t come any closer.” Huo Zhenzhou wanted nothing to do with her.
The diamond ring Zhou Motang mentioned was likely his and Li Su’s engagement ring.
When he woke up, his legs injured and immobilized, his hands were empty, there was no ring.
Not only had Zhou Motang hidden his engagement ring, but she had also concealed his ID.
She never called him A-Zhou, only “Da Qiang.”
It wasn’t until her grandfather passed away that she returned his ID, claiming it had just been found.
Huo Zhenzhou trembled with rage. “Get out!”
Zhou Motang hadn’t intended to be discovered. She had planned to sneak in, steal a few things, and leave.
But today, Xiao Qiyu and Huo Bowen had been home all day.
She never got the chance to escape.
Now, she was still wearing Huo Zhenzhou’s clothes, her pockets stuffed with stolen items.
Angry and heartbroken, she cried, “I’m already in this state, and you’re still so cold to me. We were husband and wife for months…”
“Hah.”
Huo Zhenzhou scoffed. “And whose fault was that? Didn’t you steal those months from me?”
“Zhou Motang, I’ve regained my memories. I remember everything. If it weren’t for your lies, Li Su and I wouldn’t have ended up like this.”
“Why should I show kindness to a liar?”
The contempt and loathing in his eyes surpassed even what Huo Xuanye had once directed at her.
So that was it.
He had remembered everything.
“Fine, I’ll leave!”
“Take off the clothes.”
Zhou Motang tightened her grip on the fabric. “It’s freezing outside! You have so many clothes, I’m only wearing one!”
“I swear, I’ll never come back!”
“I’ll disappear to some island, never show my face again!”
Terrified, she inched toward the door.
“Don’t make me repeat myself.”
Huo Zhenzhou’s glare was like a volley of icy arrows, piercing through her.
With a furious glare, Zhou Motang stripped off the clothes.
The sound was unmistakable when the clothes hit the floor.
It meant there was something in the pockets.
A flicker of surprise flashed in Huo Zhenzhou’s eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. “A thief,” he concluded.
Clearly, the security at the Huo residence needed urgent upgrading.
“Since you’ve caught me, I might as well admit it. Yes, I came here to steal!”
“I’m desperate! You’re so rich, just a few things from here could pay off all my debts!”
“Every man for himself, or heaven and earth will crush you!”
“So what if you’ve regained your memories now? I did nothing wrong-”
“If I hadn’t lied to you, hidden your ID, and kept you here, you would’ve been found by the Huo family long ago! We’d never have spent three months together day and night, and you wouldn’t have agreed to marry me when your grandfather was on his deathbed. I’d never have had the chance to marry into wealth!”
“If you don’t give me money, I’ll die, and you won’t be happy either! Li Su left you! She’s married now!”
“And to your brother, no less!”
“How’s that for a gut punch?”
Huo Zhenzhou expressionlessly pulled out his phone and made a call. “There’s a thief in the house. Send the police to take her away.”
He hung up without another word.
Zhou Motang was stunned. “You sent my father to prison, and now you’re doing the same to me?! Huo Zhenzhou, you’re heartless!”
“You’re cruel!”
“I curse you to die alone!!”
She couldn’t believe he was actually calling the police on her.
There was no time to think, she had to run.
Zhou Motang bolted out of Huo Zhenzhou’s room.
Uncle Xu arrived with the security team and froze for a few seconds when he saw it was her.
The guards quickly subdued her.
Trembling, Uncle Xu entered Huo Zhenzhou’s room.
“Young Master, I failed in my duties. I can’t believe a thief managed to break in.”
Huo Zhenzhou stood in the center of the bedroom. “Replace everything in this room. I’ll stay in the guest room tonight.”
“Yes, sir.”
As Huo Zhenzhou left, Uncle Xu patted his chest in relief, the young master hadn’t mentioned docking his pay.
His salary was safe… right???
Huo Zhenzhou went to the guest room and called his assistant, Zhuo Yang.
“Find out where my engagement ring was sold and buy it back.”
“Understood.”
After hanging up, Huo Zhenzhou sat at the foot of the bed, tossing his phone aside carelessly.
He let out a long sigh.
Downstairs, Zhou Mutang was still cursing as the police cuffed her.
“You can’t arrest me!”
“What right do you have?!”
“Let me go! You have no evidence!”
Uncle Xu stood nearby. “Miss Zhou, keep your voice down. The master and madam are resting. And as for evidence, there’s plenty.”
The surveillance in Huo Zhenzhou’s collection room, the time she spent in his bedroom, her fingerprints on the clothes and the million-dollar watch she stole, it was all there.
Once forensics got to work, she wouldn’t stand a chance.
“Uncle Xu, please, beg for leniency for me!”
Uncle Xu’s face was cold. “Miss Zhou, the Huo family has shown you more mercy than you deserved. But you threw it all away! The young master is a good man, yet you deceived him. He never wants to see you again, and that’s for the best. Now you can join your father in prison!”
Both locked away.
Though…
They probably wouldn’t be in the same one.
Look on the bright side, being locked up in prison means you’re still alive. If the debt collectors caught you outside, death would be the only outcome.
Zhou Motang was shoved into the police car by the officers.
Under the cover of night, the police car drove away from the Huo residence.
Uncle Xu immediately gathered the security team to investigate how Zhou Motang had managed to get in. The security measures at the Huo residence needed to be reinforced.
