- Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother
- Chapter 65 - Can You Divorce Him?
Huo Zhenzhou leaned casually against the sofa, a used wine glass resting on the coffee table. His usually cold face was flushed with intoxication, his eyes hazy and unfocused.
These past few days, he couldn’t stop replaying recent events and the memories of his past relationship with Li Su.
His emotions were tangled.
His moral boundaries teetered between collapse and reason.
He had even said such cruel words to Susu.
Told her to stay away.
Told her never to appear at the Huo residence again.
He was despicable!
How could he have forgotten Li Su?
How could he have forgotten the woman he had loved so deeply?
On the day he returned, Li Su had rushed to see him in such a frantic, worried state, only to marry Huo Xuanye that very night.
She had done it to spite him.
He had let Li Su down.
Huo Zhenzhou drank alone, his entire demeanor visibly haggard.
When he woke the next morning and saw his gaunt reflection, he thought,
This won’t do.
If he grew ugly, Li Su wouldn’t like him anymore.
Especially this face.
She had always loved it.
The reason she married Huo Xuanye was because he was his younger brother, because they shared similar features.
If he aged, if he became unattractive, that resemblance would fade.
Time to move!
And so, the two brothers crossed paths in the gym.
Huo Xuanye wore a simple black tank top, faint traces of kiss marks visible on his chest.
“Morning, bro!”
A man nourished by love was radiant, his mood impeccable.
“Morning.”
Huo Zhenzhou’s reply was half-hearted.
Back then, he had foolishly warned Huo Xuanye to be careful, that Li Su had only married him out of revenge.
Now, Huo Zhenzhou just wanted to slap himself.
The two worked out on their respective machines.
Half an hour later, Huo Xuanye stood up. “I’m done here. Burned a lot of energy last night, so a light workout is enough for me today. Take your time, bro. I’m heading out.”
Smug.
Bragging.
A competition between men?
He had won.
Huo Zhenzhou stared at Huo Xuanye’s retreating figure, then gritted his teeth and kept exercising.
Huo Xuanye returned to the bedroom, where Li Su was still asleep.
He sat on the edge of the bed, gazing at her tenderly.
Li Su was his now. So what if she had once been his brother’s?
He wouldn’t give her up.
Leaning down, Huo Xuanye stole a kiss. But as he lingered, Li Su’s eyes fluttered open.
“Good morning, baby~”
“Didn’t you get enough last night?” Still half-asleep, her eyes quickly closed again. She turned away, mumbling, “I need more sleep…”
“Go back to sleep then.”
“I won’t disturb you.”
Huo Xuanye patted her gently over the blanket. “I’ll never get enough. Even when we’re seventy or eighty, toothless and old, I’ll still kiss you…”
Li Su wanted to say, Huo Xuanye, you’re disgusting, but she was too tired. The thought stayed in her mind, she couldn’t even be bothered to open her mouth.
“I’m going to the company today.”
Li Su lazily hummed in acknowledgment.
It was about time.
All that talk about fighting for inheritance.
Even the amnesiac Huo Zhenzhou went to the office more diligently than Huo Xuanye.
Frankly, when Huo Xuanye mentioned the company now, Li Su assumed he meant his own business, not the Huo Corporation.
Ever since Huo Zhenzhou’s return, Huo Xuanye had lost interest in the family enterprise.
Seeing her still drowsy, Huo Xuanye tucked the blanket around her and quietly left.
Li Su slept like the dead, only waking past ten.
Fully rested.
So comfortable.
She stretched and headed downstairs for food.
As she stepped out of her room, Huo Zhenzhou emerged from his as well, and walked straight toward her.
She had a feeling Huo Zhenzhou was deliberately waiting for her.
Ever since he regained his memory, they hadn’t had a chance to be alone together.
She could sense that Huo Zhenzhou had something to say to her.
“Brother, didn’t you go to the company today?”
Brother…
Huo Zhenzhou’s fervent emotions and the words he wanted to say were instantly thrown into disarray by that single word, “brother.”
Zhou Zhanpeng had been sentenced.
Zhou Motang had also faced her punishment.
But the damage done to her legs was irreversible.
All her suffering had been brought upon her by him.
Huo Zhenzhou’s deep eyes were filled with sorrow and longing.
His voice was low, his gaze intense, “Susu~”
In the past, Li Su loved hearing Huo Zhenzhou call her name.
Susu, Susu~
Just the sound of his deep voice sent shivers down her spine, an ambiguous tension swirling between them.
But now…
She really wasn’t used to hearing Huo Zhenzhou call her that.
Li Su’s face remained expressionless. “What is it?”
“I want to say I’m sorry!”
Huo Zhenzhou lowered his head, his voice barely above a whisper. “Susu, I broke my promise to you. I actually forgot you, I actually married someone else!”
“Susu, I didn’t understand how you felt back then, but I do now!”
“You hated me, you were angry, and in a moment of impulse, you rushed into marriage with him.”
“Can we start over?”
“Susu, can we go back to how things were?”
Had he lost his mind?
A cold glint flashed in Li Su’s eyes. “Huo Zhenzhou, what do you think?”
“You don’t love him. You married him because I disappointed you. You can divorce him…”
Huo Zhenzhou cupped her face in his hands, his voice trembling with emotion. “Susu, please. I love you. I never liked Zhou Motang. I only agreed to marry her because her grandfather saved me, and it was his dying wish!”
“Susu, divorce him, please?”
“Let’s start over…”
Li Su raised her hand and slapped him.
Huo Zhenzhou’s expression froze, his right hand slowly falling to his side.
“Huo Zhenzhou, amnesia isn’t an excuse! We knew each other for so long, loved each other for two years, were engaged for a year yet when we met again, you felt nothing for me. That just proves how cold-hearted you are! Your feelings for me were never that strong to begin with.”
Li Su’s body trembled with anger. “Now that you’ve regained your memory, now that you’re divorced, you expect me to divorce too? How dare you!”
“Huo Zhenzhou, you have no idea how I survived those three months after you disappeared. Just three months, three months! and when you finally came back, you married someone else…”
Li Su clutched her chest. “Do you know how much it hurt? My fiancé, who didn’t even recognize me, held another woman’s hand and told me to leave. And now you’re asking me to divorce? How can you even say that?!”
Her voice cracked, tears welling in her eyes.
“Because I love you, and you love me too!” Huo Zhenzhou stared at her intently. “Li Su, can you honestly say you married Huo Xuanye for any reason other than him being my brother? That it wasn’t because he looks like me?”
Tears brimmed in Huo Zhenzhou’s eyes, his voice breaking. “In your heart, you’ve always loved me. He was just a substitute!!”
“You’re wrong. I didn’t marry him to use him as a substitute. I did it for this very moment, when you regained your memories and saw the woman you once loved married to someone else. To see how shattered you’d be, how full of regret.” Li Su leaned against the wall, “Clearly, I won the bet.”
“Susu, there are no winners or losers between two people,” Huo Zhenzhou said, his voice thick with sorrow.
“I’d gladly let you win. Think of how happy we were together before…”
“Susu, please… give me one more chance…”
