- Chapter 33 - I Don’t Like Kids, They’d Ruin Our Time Together
As soon as the driver finished speaking, Li Su turned her head abruptly.
The careless smile on Huo Xuanye’s face vanished, his gaze locked onto Li Su in his arms.
Was she really that excited to hear his brother had regained his memories?
Huo Xuanye tightened his arm around her waist, feigning calm as he asked, “Brother, what did you remember?”
Huo Zhenzhou replied evenly, “Just a few things from our childhood. You were quite mischievous.”
Since nothing about Li Su had been recalled, Huo Xuanye relaxed slightly.
With a smile, he said, “That’s because I had you backing me up.”
The doctors had long said the brain could heal itself, Huo Zhenzhou’s amnesia was temporary, and one day, his memories would fully return.
Lost in thought, Huo Xuanye wondered: How can I make Li Su fall in love with me before my brother remembers everything?
Li Su buried her face in Huo Xuanye’s chest, unwilling to speak.
Huo Zhenzhou had recalled memories of Huo Xuanye, but not of her.
It…
Was just heartbreaking.
She had thought their bond was deep.
Turns out, it wasn’t.
Huo Xuanye lowered his head to kiss her, his lips brushing lightly against her forehead.
The more he kissed, the more she squirmed, nuzzling against his chest.
“Baby~”
Li Su muttered softly, “Shut up.”
Sensing her unhappiness, Huo Xuanye obediently fell silent.
Seems like I messed up again.
Would she lock me out of the bedroom tonight?
He had to hold her hand.
Not give her the chance.
In the Huo family’s grand hall, Zhou Motang, hearing the sound of the car outside, stood up to greet Huo Zhenzhou.
Instead, she saw the three of them enter together.
Li Su stood in the middle, flanked by the two brothers like a princess guarded by her princes. Though her expression was indifferent, even a little upset, her beauty remained breathtaking.
“Good evening, sister-in-law!”
Huo Xuanye clasped Li Su’s hand firmly, greeting her with effortless charm. “You’re so good to my brother, even though he went to a business dinner without you, you still waited downstairs for him.”
Zhou Motang blushed. “It’s still early. I just wanted to see him as soon as he got back.”
“Brother, sister-in-law loves you so much, don’t let her down!”
Though his words seemed to encourage their happiness, his real intention was to ensure Huo Zhenzhou wouldn’t disrupt his relationship with Li Su once his memories returned.
Li Su remained silent.
Huo Zhenzhou and Zhou Motang followed them upstairs.
“The wedding’s coming up. Should we invite people from your hometown? I can arrange for someone to pick them up.” Huo Zhenzhou didn’t mind their background, they were, after all, his saviors.
“No need.” Zhou Motang looped her arm through his. “The guests at your wedding are important figures. They’re like me, unfamiliar with etiquette and formalities. Husband, I want our wedding to be perfect. Having you in my life is enough, you’re my everything.”
“You should cultivate some hobbies of your own. Do whatever you’d like.”
Exactly!
The Huo family was wealthy, a young madam could do anything she pleased.
“I want to have a baby, raise our child. With a handsome, brilliant father like you, our baby will be absolutely adorable. Husband, do you prefer a boy or a girl?”
Zhou Motang didn’t lower her voice, and the two walking ahead heard every word.
Li Su quickened her pace, with Huo Xuanye following closely.
Neither of them cared to hear Huo Zhenzhou’s answer.
After entering the room, Huo Xuanye pulled Li Su, who was in front of him, into his arms and hugged her tightly.
“What’s there to be sad about? They can have babies, and so can we!” Huo Xuanye murmured, nuzzling against the crook of her neck. “I’m young, and my genes are better.”
Li Su wasn’t in the mood to discuss this topic with him. “You smoke.”
“Only a little.”
Huo Xuanye wasn’t addicted, he occasionally had one during social gatherings.
He could take it or leave it.
“Wife, from now on, whenever I smoke, you can slap me and knock the cigarette out of my hand,” Huo Xuanye said in a low, husky voice. “How about that?”
“Huo Xuanye, you know my career. I might not want kids so soon,” Li Su said seriously. “If you really want to be a father, we can div-”
Huo Xuanye turned her around and urgently covered her mouth. “Don’t say that word! I don’t even like the idea of being a dad that much. I’m still young, and I haven’t had enough of our time together as a couple. I’m in no hurry to add a little third wheel!”
Li Su, who had been gloomy and upset just moments ago, couldn’t help but chuckle. “Really?”
“Truer than pearls! What’s so great about little brats? All they do is eat, drink, poop, and cry. They’re impossible to soothe, they’d steal my wife’s attention, and they’d ruin our intimate life. Plus, you’d suffer too. Kids? No, no, no!”
Huo Xuanye had guessed it, Li Su must have discussed the issue of children with her brother before.
Back then, her brother must have agreed that she shouldn’t have kids for the time being.
That’s why hearing Zhou Motang and Huo Zhenzhou talk about having children had made Li Su even sadder.
“I won’t have kids before I’m thirty,” Li Su added.
“That means I still get seven more years of just the two of us!!!”
Huo Xuanye’s grin nearly split his face. “Perfect, perfect! Should I go get a vasectomy first and reverse it seven years later? That way, we wouldn’t need to use protection…”
Li Su was speechless.
How did Huo Xuanye’s brain even work like this?
“Wife, if I get the surgery, you can’t leave me!”
“That’ll be our little secret. No one else can know.”
Huo Xuanye spoke as if he’d already gone through with the procedure.
Li Su looked into his eyes. “Don’t do it.”
Huo Xuanye immediately countered, “If I don’t, what if you get pregnant by accident?”
Li Su said softly, “Huo Xuanye, how could there be such an accident? As long as you use protection every time, there won’t be any surprises. The chance of pregnancy despite protection is only 2% a year.”
“I’ll do my best to prevent that 2% from happening. I won’t trouble my wife, I’ll let her focus on her career happily, shine on stage, dance beautifully, and become the best!”
As he spoke, Huo Xuanye leaned in to kiss her.
Li Su turned her head away. “Haven’t we kissed a bit too much today?”
“Too much? I still think it’s not enough!”
Li Su was like a sweet, soft strawberry cake.
And he wanted a bite.
Loved it.
Craved it every day.
Huo Xuanye lowered his voice in a whine. “Wife, we spent so many days taking wedding photos abroad, and every day you said you were tired…”
Li Su rejected his advances and turned to leave. “I’m tired tonight too.”
Huo Xuanye stood there, dejected. No vasectomy, no love.
The next day.
Morning sunlight spilled in.
The scorching summer heat couldn’t dampen the bustling activity inside and outside the Huo residence as the wedding drew near.
Inside the second-floor room, Li Su slowly opened her eyes, unsure whether she had been awakened by the commotion downstairs or by Huo Xuanye, who was lying on top of her, planting messy kisses all over.
Huo Xuanye lifted his head and murmured, “Baby, you’re awake…”
“Get out!”
