After Transmigrating Into The Book, The Villain Only Wanted To Destroy The World - Chapter 7
Outside the door, Mo Rubai wore a look of pure innocence. “Junior Uncle, Master sent me to fetch you to discuss important matters with the Sect Leader.”
Shen Zhiwei frowned, instantly sensing that something was amiss. “Junior Uncle is Junior Uncle, why must you add the word ‘junior’?”
“Naturally, because you are Master’s youngest disciple,” Mo Rubai replied, his smile fixed as if it had been painted on, without the slightest change.
It was merely a form of address, so Shen Zhiwei decided not to dwell on it. He nodded and said, “Since you are here, you can weed the spirit herbs behind my courtyard.”
Having delivered this instruction, Shen Zhiwei drifted away.
The smile on Mo Rubai’s face vanished instantly. He had called him “Junior Uncle” to try and get closer; until he was certain whether Shen Zhiwei was “Shen Ming,” he could not afford to act rashly. However, why would Immortal Lingzhi want him to weed the garden? Spirit herbs were incredibly precious, and those grown by an Immortal were surely of the highest grade. Was he truly so trusting?
Mo Rubai soon discovered Shen Zhiwei’s true intent.
“Ru Bai, did you take something of your Junior Uncle’s?” Yuan Jiangning looked at Mo Rubai, who was kneeling on the ground, his face dark with disappointment. “If it is true, return it immediately and then kneel at your Junior Uncle’s door for a night!”
Yuan Jiangning was satisfied with this disciple, so even upon learning of the incident, he had summoned him to question him privately.
Mo Rubai’s mind went blank. “Master, I did not steal anything.” He would have to be incredibly bold to dare steal spirit herbs from Immortal Lingzhi.
“If you did not take it, why is a petal of the Soul Grass that Zhiwei has tended for so long missing? That is an immortal-level Soul Grass, something priceless in the markets! Now that a petal is gone, who knows how long it will take to recover. Sigh.”
Hearing this, Mo Rubai was even more confused. He had not even seen any immortal-level spirit herbs in that garden, so how could he have taken one?
“Master, I did not take it, nor did I steal it.”
Mo Rubai did not intend to explain further, knowing that compared to him, an expendable disciple, the Master’s Junior Brother was far more important.
“Since you refuse to admit it, you shall kneel at Lingzhi’s door for three days and three nights,” Yuan Jiangning rubbed his temples wearily. “Family scandals should not be aired in public. I will apologize to Zhiwei on your behalf.”
Shen Zhiwei looked at Mo Rubai kneeling at his door with a cold expression. He brought out a bowl of porridge and placed it before him. “Catching a thief requires evidence. This matter is not yet settled, but since your Master has chosen to punish you, his considerations are his own, and nothing I say will change that.”
Mo Rubai looked at Shen Zhiwei, who was explaining the situation with such gravity. He was unsure of his true intentions, but he lowered his head and replied, “If Master wishes to punish me, there must be a reason. It is my own carelessness that caused damage to your Soul Grass, Junior Uncle.”
Shen Zhiwei nodded at Mo Rubai. “Consider it part of your cultivation.”
Shen Zhiwei turned to leave, but noticing that Mo Rubai made no move to touch the porridge, he said with dissatisfaction, “Drink the porridge. I boiled it myself.”
Naturally, this porridge contained the missing petal of the Soul Grass. No one could steal from Shen Zhiwei’s territory, except for Shen Zhiwei himself. This Soul Grass was no ordinary herb; Sanba had told him it could suppress Mo Rubai’s Pure Yang energy.
Shen Zhiwei no longer sought the blood of a virgin for Shen Ming because as long as Mo Rubai remained within the Lingxiao Sect, Shen Ming would be affected. An extreme Yin constitution was easily seduced by Pure Yang energy, and using the blood of a virgin for suppression was useless. This new method was also suggested by Sanba.
As for how to get Mo Rubai to drink it willingly, Shen Zhiwei had chosen a simple, brutal approach: having Yuan Jiangning send Mo Rubai to him. In such trivial matters, Yuan Jiangning always indulged him.
However, relying solely on suppressing the Pure Yang energy was not enough. Beneath the floor where Shen Zhiwei now knelt lay another underground space, which was where Shen Ming lived. By channeling the clash of Yin and Yang energies and using the Soul Grass as a catalyst, Shen Ming could endure for a while longer.
