After Transmigrating into an ABO World with My Rival - Chapter 24
The two of them had just arrived home when Fu Tingyue received a call from his family. They wanted him to find time to bring Chen Yanzhi back for a visit so the elders could meet the person he liked.
Fu Tingyue didn’t need to think twice to know that news of Chen Yanzhi’s differentiation into a top-tier Omega had leaked out. Otherwise, those old fogies who ranked everyone by gender hierarchy would never have suddenly asked to meet him.
Chen Yanzhi was currently leaning against Fu Tingyue’s shoulder. Since the phone was on speaker, he heard every single word about the Fu family wanting Fu Tingyue to bring him back.
Fu Tingyue gave an ambiguous reply: “I might not have the time.”
“You aren’t even coming back for your grandfather’s birthday banquet? Do you have no sense of filial piety? No matter how busy you are, find time to come back, and remember to bring Chen Yanzhi with you.”
Fu Youmin spoke in a commanding tone and hung up immediately, giving them no chance to refuse.
Chen Yanzhi moved his gaze from the phone screen to Fu Tingyue’s face, his beautiful eyes sparkling with a faint light.
Fu Tingyue tossed the phone onto the table and tiredly pinched the bridge of his nose. “You don’t have to go, but I need to make an appearance.”
“I didn’t say I wasn’t going.” Chen Yanzhi slid down from the back of the sofa to sit beside Fu Tingyue. “I’m going. What if you get bullied all by yourself?”
Hearing this, Fu Tingyue’s heart softened instantly, and his voice became incredibly tender. “That won’t happen. No one can bully me. You’ve just differentiated, so it’s better not to go to crowded places in case you feel uncomfortable.”
Chen Yanzhi waved his hand dismissively. “Aren’t you going to be there? Besides, my differentiation heat is over, and I have this pheromone-isolating bracelet now. I’ll be fine. I want to go with you.”
Judging by Fu Youmin’s tone just now, if Fu Tingyue didn’t bring him back, they would likely scold him. He had to go along.
Looking at his naive expression, Fu Tingyue couldn’t help but remind him, “Zhizhi, the pheromone bracelet only isolates your own pheromones. It doesn’t block out the pheromones of others.”
Chen Yanzhi knit his brows in confusion and raised his left wrist to look at the bracelet. “You aren’t lying to me, are you?”
This thing cost two hundred thousand! He had watched the money get swiped from Fu Tingyue’s bank card with his own eyes. In the end, it was a one-way product?
Fu Tingyue didn’t offer a lengthy explanation. Instead, he adjusted his own bracelet down a notch and slowly released his pheromones. “Can you smell that?”
A scent of red wine that wasn’t too potent immediately invaded Chen Yanzhi’s senses. He squinted his eyes comfortably and leaned against Fu Tingyue like a lazy cat. “I smell it. I like it.”
He felt like the aftereffects of his differentiation heat were getting worse. If this continued, he wouldn’t be able to live without Fu Tingyue’s pheromones.
A faint smile touched Fu Tingyue’s lips. He slowly and continuously released his pheromones for Chen Yanzhi, his heartbeat quickening as he listened to the other man’s comfortable whimpers.
Chen Yanzhi couldn’t help but worry. “Will I react this way to everyone’s pheromones?”
If that were the case, it would be a disaster. He really couldn’t accompany Fu Tingyue to the Fu residence; it would be too dangerous.
Fu Tingyue shook his head and explained, “No. It’s only like this because the temporary mark I gave you hasn’t worn off yet. During this period, you will be very repulsed by the pheromones of other Alphas.”
Fu Tingyue’s pheromones smelled so good that Chen Yanzhi couldn’t resist crawling onto his lap to sit. He leaned his face against Fu Tingyue’s shoulder and spoke lazily, “Then it’s fine. I’ll just stay by your side the whole time. You can help me block out the other Alphas.”
He knew how to control his pheromones now. Although a little bit might still leak out occasionally, it shouldn’t be an issue with the bracelet.
Fu Tingyue had told him that since he was a top-tier Omega, his pheromones could directly trigger a rut in ordinary Alphas, so he had to be extra careful.
Chen Yanzhi had accepted his sudden differentiation into an Omega quite well. Perhaps because Fu Tingyue was by his side, he felt that being an Omega wasn’t so bad. However, he still felt a bit awkward deep down. After all, he truly considered Fu Tingyue his best friend, and now he had to rely on him to get through his heats.
As he thought about it, he suddenly said to Fu Tingyue, “I’m sorry.”
“Hmm?” Fu Tingyue asked, puzzled.
Chen Yanzhi sighed. “We were supposed to be best friends, but I ended up making you help me through my differentiation heat. I’m really sorry.”
There wasn’t much guilt in his voice, mostly just awkwardness.
Fu Tingyue’s hand on his knee tightened slightly, but his tone remained steady. “You helped me during my rut too. Don’t worry about it. I’m happy to help you.”
He had hoped his relationship with Chen Yanzhi would change, but it turned out he was overthinking it. It seemed the Old Man under the Moon had snipped Chen Yanzhi’s red thread of fate; the guy simply didn’t think in those terms. He didn’t find their kissing or helping each other inappropriate at all. He just viewed them as chain reactions caused by the differentiation heat.
It was just like his own rut last time.
Smelling Fu Tingyue’s pheromones, Chen Yanzhi began to feel drowsy, and his voice turned clingy. “But is this wrong? I saw online that only couples are supposed to help each other through heats.”
“We could also be…”
Fu Tingyue looked down and realized Chen Yanzhi had fallen asleep against him. His thick, curled eyelashes cast a shadow on his fair face. His naturally delicate skin had gained a hint of pale pink due to his differentiation, making him look incredibly alluring.
Fu Tingyue leaned down and kissed his forehead, finishing his sentence in a whisper, “We could also be a couple, Chen Yanzhi. When will you finally understand my heart?”
Chen Yanzhi smacked his lips and turned his face the other way to lean against Fu Tingyue. In a place where Fu Tingyue couldn’t see, he snapped his eyes open, his gaze filled with shock and bewilderment.
Fu Tingyue likes him? Fu Tingyue actually likes him?
Chen Yanzhi felt like the sky had fallen… well, not completely fallen, because he surprisingly didn’t find the idea revolting. He was just stunned.
Then again, it had fallen. How could he, of all people, be the one whose best bro fell for him?
First it was Lin Xubai, and now Fu Tingyue. Was this world going crazy?
Could it be that something in the environment of this world turned Fu Tingyue into someone who likes men?
No, this wouldn’t do. He had to find a traditional doctor to prescribe some medicine for Fu Tingyue to see if he could be fixed.
It was terrifying. No wonder Fu Tingyue was kissing him and licking him during his heat. He knew a regular best friend wouldn’t act like that.
During Fu Tingyue’s rut, he had been perfectly well-behaved while helping, even though he was timidly taken advantage of. He had never actively done anything out of line to Fu Tingyue.
Chen Yanzhi’s thoughts were a mess. It wasn’t until Fu Tingyue carried him to bed, tucked him in, and left that he began to untangle everything from the beginning. However, after mulling it over for ages, he still couldn’t figure out when Fu Tingyue had started liking him. Unable to solve the puzzle, he simply tilted his head and fell asleep, his heart being impossibly large.
But when he woke up, Chen Yanzhi began to worry again. On one hand, he craved Fu Tingyue’s pheromones; on the other, he felt they should maintain their distance. Two little versions of himself were fighting in his head with no clear winner, leaving him drained and affecting his appetite.
Fu Tingyue was so worried he almost ordered more medicinal meals. Fortunately, they had to attend the birthday banquet at the Fu residence, so Chen Yanzhi narrowly escaped that fate.
Chen Yanzhi wore a white suit with a tie. His vibrant pink hair looked a bit out of place against the formal suit, and his collection of shiny earrings felt even more mismatched. Yet, on him, it created a strange sense of harmony. Perhaps it was because his face was so beautiful that it made people feel he could pull off anything.
Compared to his flamboyant look, Fu Tingyue appeared much more reserved. A black suit made him look exceptionally tall and upright. His meticulously styled hair exposed his superior features, and the oppressive aura unique to an SS-class Alpha was palpable.
To match Chen Yanzhi, Fu Tingyue had specifically chosen an extravagant brooch that was part of a pair with Chen Yanzhi’s.
Standing together, the two of them were polar opposites, yet there was a bizarre harmony between them. It might have been the exclusive atmosphere surrounding them, or simply that their exceptional faces were too well-matched.
This was the first time Fu Tingyue had returned to the Fu family’s old residence since arriving in this world. Relying on the original owner’s memories, he led Chen Yanzhi inside, completely ignoring the scrutinizing gazes of the people around them.
It was Chen Yanzhi’s first visit, so he was naturally curious. However, having received elite education since childhood, he wouldn’t lose his composure at such a large event. He walked side-by-side with Fu Tingyue the entire time, his behavior so proper and elegant that no one could find fault. He looked like a noble young master from a wealthy family, showing no trace of someone from the commoner district of the East Zone.
The Fu family had long heard that Fu Tingyue was bringing his boyfriend back. Based on the information they had on Chen Yanzhi, everyone assumed an orphan like him would be overwhelmed by such a grand scene and inevitably embarrass Fu Tingyue. But when they saw Chen Yanzhi, his beautiful and striking face left a deep, indelible impression on everyone’s minds.
Chen Yanzhi gave everyone a polite smile. Seeing the obsessed looks from the crowd, Fu Tingyue felt extremely displeased. He couldn’t help but whisper to Chen Yanzhi, “There’s no need to smile at them.”
“Oh, okay then.” Chen Yanzhi agreed, but he still greeted people enthusiastically. Even if it was his first time meeting someone and he didn’t know their name, he could still chat with them for a bit.
Fu Tingyue reached his limit and took the initiative to grab Chen Yanzhi’s hand, leading him further inside.
Chen Yanzhi tried to pull away but couldn’t. He had to lean into Fu Tingyue’s ear and whisper, “Holding hands is too weird. Let go.”
Instead of letting go, Fu Tingyue gripped his hand even tighter. “They all think you’re my boyfriend.”
“Huh?” Chen Yanzhi glanced around frantically. “They wouldn’t, right?”
Knowing that Fu Tingyue liked him made Chen Yanzhi feel uneasy everywhere.
Fu Tingyue spoke with a straight face, “Really. They might even try to get us engaged.”
Chen Yanzhi looked horrified. “Then I’m not staying with you. I want to go home.”
He hadn’t figured out how to talk to Fu Tingyue yet. He couldn’t get engaged in such a muddled way. In this world, men could marry each other. He didn’t want to marry Fu Tingyue yet; he thought being friends was perfectly fine.
Before Fu Tingyue could say anything, a sarcastic voice came from beside them: “A-Yue, how could you bring such a questionable person inside? Today is Grandfather’s eightieth birthday. Aren’t you afraid of upsetting the old man?”
