After Transmigrating into a Scummy Alpha, I Became a Tool Person - Chapter 44
After closing the door and calming herself for a moment, Xie Yinian began to regret her earlier actions.
She had seen the disappointment written all over Xia Ruoxi’s face. The other girl hadn’t said a word—she had simply gone to quietly wipe up the spilled milk tea on the floor.
“Ah.” Xie Yinian let out a sigh.
Xia Ruoxi returned to her room with a sense of emptiness and washed the cup clean.
Once she had put it away, she sat down at her desk, idly staring at the little trinket Xie Yinian had bought her.
She reached out and picked up the cat-shaped charm, rolling it gently between her fingers.
For days now, she had wanted a chance to explain what had happened before, but the opportunity never came.
Xia Ruoxi exhaled in frustration.
Why not write an apology letter? She could convey her feelings in words.
Her eyes lit up at the idea. It seemed like a good solution. She quickly grabbed paper and a pen and began writing seriously.
She rewrote it several times, never quite satisfied, crumpling up countless sheets along the way. Finally, Xia Ruoxi completed it.
Carefully, she placed the letter into a kraft paper envelope and sealed it with wax.
Then, she put the envelope into a small gift bag and, with a gentle push of the door, walked to Xie Yinian’s apartment. She hung the bag on the doorknob.
Having done all this, Xia Ruoxi felt a flutter of nervousness—she didn’t know how Xie Yinian would react upon seeing the letter.
“Cough, cough.” Xia Ruoxi coughed twice. It had already been three days, and her cold hadn’t improved. She decided it was better to go to the hospital.
Turning, she left the neighborhood.
“Miss Lu, this is a work by the renowned artist Veya. You can take a look.”
At the exhibition, Lu Anran admired a sculpture of an angel.
The sculpture was lifelike, with grand, elegant wings wrapping around the angel’s body. Its hands rested gently on its lap, a sheer veil draped over its figure—it looked stunning.
An Lin approached from not far away. Seeing Lu Anran so absorbed in the piece, unaware that An Lin had come close, she couldn’t help but laugh softly.
“Is it really that beautiful?” An Lin asked.
“It is.” Lu Anran realized who was beside her and turned to look at her. “Have you finished the matter you were handling?”
“Yes,” An Lin replied. She had come to the exhibition today to discuss work-related matters with the owner of this gallery. The meeting had already concluded.
Thinking back on how An Lin and Lu Anran had met in this vast city of City A, it all started about half a month ago.
“Ms. Lu, it seems like there’s not much work scheduled these past few days,” the small assistant with round glasses said.
“Alright, I understand,” Lu Anran nodded.
“Then I’ll take my leave,” the assistant said, adjusting her glasses.
“Go ahead,” Lu Anran said.
The assistant pushed the door and left.
“Finally, I can take a break,” Lu Anran stretched lazily.
“It’s been so long since I watched a movie, maybe I should go out and relax a bit.” Thinking this, she grabbed her phone and scrolled through some of the recent popular films.
After buying the tickets, Lu Anran drove to the fifth floor of the shopping mall to catch her movie.
With twenty minutes until the screening, she bought a bucket of popcorn and sat on a nearby bench, waiting for ticket inspection.
She scrolled through her phone, unaware that a man had sat down next to her.
The man was dressed in black from head to toe, wearing a mask and a hat. He glanced around furtively, preparing to slip his phone under Lu Anran’s skirt.
“Clack.”
The man’s phone dropped to the ground, and someone grabbed his hand.
An Lin’s face was full of anger as she glared at him. “What do you think you’re doing?”
She had come to the mall today, planning to watch a movie afterward, but she never expected to witness this scene.
The man tried to pull away, but An Lin was an Alpha, and he was just a Beta. In terms of strength, she had the upper hand.
“Let go of me! I didn’t do anything!” he struggled.
“Didn’t do anything? I saw you clearly just now, trying to take a photo under her skirt!” An Lin pinned him to the ground, making sure he couldn’t escape.
People nearby stopped and gathered to watch.
“I didn’t! You’re lying!” the man protested.
“Lying?” An Lin sneered. “There are cameras everywhere here. Check the footage and see if I’m telling the truth!”
Hearing that, the man panicked and struggled with all his might to break free.
An Lin looked at him with disgust. She kicked him several times, fiercely scolding him with words like “voyeur,” “disgusting,” “creepy,” “pervert,” and “go to hell.”
Once she had him under control, she turned to say, “Call the police.”
After venting her anger, An Lin used her phone to report him. Soon, the police arrived and took the man away.
With the commotion over, the onlookers dispersed.
“Thank you just now,” Lu Anran said gratefully. If An Lin hadn’t intervened, she might not have even realized someone was secretly filming her.
“No problem. Luckily, I noticed in time,” An Lin said, taking a deep breath.
“I’ll hit something like that every time I see it. Better to leave him crippled,” An Lin snorted coldly.
Lu Anran looked at her—small, delicate, seemingly fragile—but had never imagined she could fight so fiercely. She had just witnessed the man wailing and begging for mercy under An Lin’s assault, promising he would never do such a thing again.
“Didn’t expect to run into you here. Maybe we’re fated to meet,” Lu Anran said with a smile. She had thought they would never meet again, but here they were today.
“Seems like it,” An Lin replied with a smile.
By then, the movie was about to start.
“What row are you in?” An Lin asked.
Lu Anran checked her ticket. “13.”
An Lin raised an eyebrow. “14.”
Lu Anran looked surprised. “What a coincidence!”
“Let’s go in together,” An Lin said, linking her arm with Lu Anran’s.
“Okay!”
Flashback ends.
Lu Anran looked up and saw An Lin chatting with the club owner.
“We’ll talk next time,” An Lin said, bidding the owner goodbye before walking over to Lu Anran.
She took Lu Anran’s hand, fingers interlacing as before, and smiled. “How about we go out for a meal?”
“Sure,” Lu Anran nodded shyly.
As they walked ahead, An Lin whispered something in Lu Anran’s ear, making her blush and gently push her away.
The owner watched the two of them from behind, shaking his head. It was too sweet to watch.
