After Transmigrating into a Scummy Alpha, I Became a Tool Person - Chapter 42
Autumn had settled in. The trees outside the residential complex had become bare, their leaves carpeting the ground.
Xie Yinian walked along the path, stepping over the fallen leaves as a cold wind swept past, stirring them up. She tightened her trench coat around her and kept moving forward.
It had been three days since Xia Ruoxi last came here. During these three days, Xia Ruoxi had come by every day looking for her—but each time, Xie Yinian had chased her away.
Carrying her bag, Xie Yinian climbed the stairs. When she reached the corridor, she saw several movers carrying boxes into the vacant apartment next to hers.
Watching them work, she pulled out her keys, muttering to herself, “Already rented out?”
At that moment, the crisp sound of footsteps echoed. Xia Ruoxi appeared, wearing a fluffy coat.
Xie Yinian watched her walk toward her. Xia Ruoxi paused for two seconds in front of the empty apartment next door. By then, the movers had finished carrying all the boxes and stepped outside.
“Please take care of the payment,” one of the movers said.
Xia Ruoxi took out her phone and paid them. Once the payment was received, the movers left.
She pocketed her phone and turned to Xie Yinian, who looked confused. Smiling faintly, she pointed inside. “I just moved in. From now on, we’re neighbors.”
Neighbors?
Xie Yinian watched Xia Ruoxi calmly enter the apartment before it dawned on her—Xia Ruoxi had moved in next door.
So, they were neighbors now? That meant they couldn’t avoid seeing each other. Even if Xie Yinian wanted to push her away, she couldn’t—after all, Xia Ruoxi lived right next door.
Xie Yinian didn’t understand Xia Ruoxi. She had clearly abandoned her and moved on with someone else—so why was she coming back to entangle with her again?
Could she be a heartbreaker?
At that thought, Xie Yinian’s expression darkened with resentment.
Hah, such a scumbag!
Xie Yinian turned the key in her door, stepped inside, and put the vegetables from her bag into the fridge.
Then she returned to her chair to continue drawing her comic. She opened her webpage and saw that her comics were steadily gaining popularity online. Soon, they would be available in bookstores, reaching even more readers.
She glanced at the comments and noticed her top fan had posted again.
Little Fish’s Cutie: Yuda’s art is absolutely amazing!!!
Little Fish’s Cutie: Like a god descended to earth!!
Full of glowing praise. Xie Yinian couldn’t help but smile. She hadn’t expected Xia Ruoxi to be so good at compliments.
Ding, ding, ding.
Xie Yinian set down her mouse and went to the door.
Outside stood Xia Ruoxi, holding a bowl of millet porridge. She extended it slightly toward Xie Yinian and offered a small smile. “I made some extra millet porridge. I can’t finish it alone. You can have some.”
Xie Yinian blinked, then took the porridge and tasted it.
“How is it?” Xia Ruoxi asked, a bit nervous. She had spent two days perfecting this recipe and wasn’t sure if it would work.
It tasted a little unusual, both salty and sweet.
“Not bad,” Xie Yinian replied flatly.
“That’s good,” Xia Ruoxi breathed a sigh of relief.
Xie Yinian quickly finished the strange-tasting porridge, washed the bowl, and returned it to her.
“Thanks for the meal. You can take it back now,” Xie Yinian said coldly.
Xia Ruoxi took the bowl, intending to invite Xie Yinian in, but seeing her chilly demeanor, she didn’t press it. She’d have to take it slow—there would be other chances.
Returning the bowl to the kitchen, Xia Ruoxi searched online for more cooking tutorials, planning to learn dishes she could cook for Xie Yinian in the future.
This was a trick An Lin had taught her to “chase a girlfriend”: if you want to win her heart, first win her stomach.
After a whole day of practice, Xia Ruoxi wiped the sweat off her forehead with her elbow and looked at the time. Dinner time had arrived. She glanced at the curry she had made and decided to deliver it.
Knock, knock.
Xie Yinian opened the door to see Xia Ruoxi holding a bowl of curry rice.
“I just learned how to make curry rice. Could you taste it for me and see if it’s any good?”
Xie Yinian looked at the dark-colored curry and swallowed hard.
Over the past few days, Xia Ruoxi had been showing up with all sorts of food, attempting to feed her.
When Xie Yinian saw her coming again with a cup of milk tea, she grew annoyed. She glared at Xia Ruoxi and demanded, “What exactly do you want?”
“What do you mean?” Xia Ruoxi asked, confused. She extended the milk tea with a smile. “I made this myself. Try it.”
Xie Yinian pushed her away and growled, “I’ve told you countless times—we have nothing to do with each other! Don’t you understand?”
The moment she had heard Xia Ruoxi agree to marry Lin Chen over the phone, she had already felt utterly hopeless. So why was this person still coming to provoke her?
Xia Ruoxi knelt down silently, using a tissue to wipe up the spilled milk tea.
Xie Yinian looked away, hardening her heart. She closed the door, refusing to look at her again.
Author’s Note:
Years later, Xie Yinian sees Xia Ruoxi making milk tea with a pitiful look: “Honey, I want some milk tea too.”
Xia Ruoxi casually pours the tea into a cup, takes a sip, and says, “Didn’t you say you didn’t want any? Back then you,”
Xie Yinian silences her with a kiss. “Mmm, sweet, smells just like my pheromones.”
Xia Ruoxi blushes.
