After Transmigrating into a Scummy Alpha, I Became a Tool Person - Chapter 4
Xie Yinian went back to her room and found a tube of ointment.
She carried it to Xia Qiqi’s door and knocked lightly.
A moment later, the door opened. Xia Qiqi’s eyes were red, clearly from crying. She looked at Xie Yinian blankly, her expression unreadable.
“Um, you should try this ointment,” Xie Yinian said after glancing at her face. “It’ll help with the swelling.”
Xia Qiqi lowered her gaze and took it. “Thank you.”
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back then?” Xie Yinian said, hesitating. She actually wanted to comfort Xia Qiqi, but since they weren’t close, she decided it was better not to meddle.
Xia Qiqi nodded. After Xie Yinian left, she closed the door and sat on the edge of her bed. Wrapping her arms around her knees, she lowered her head, her hair falling forward to hide half her face.
Quietly, she wondered.
Why must Omegas marry Alphas and stay home raising children?
Was it impossible to live without an Alpha?
The world was just so unfair.
Her parents had forced her onto that path. They’d already begun pressuring her, refusing to listen to what she wanted. Even though she didn’t agree, no one cared about her opinion.
She’d thought about it for years, but the answer was always the same—her parents didn’t love her. They only wanted a compliant puppet, someone to do exactly as they said.
Her gaze turned distant. Now she was in a fake marriage with Xie Yinian—but what about after the divorce? Her parents would still find another Alpha to tie her down with.
Xia Qiqi touched the back of her neck where her gland was slightly swollen—probably another side effect of the suppressants.
A folded hospital report slipped off the table. She bent down to pick it up.
Name: Xia Qiqi
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Diagnosis: Unstable Heat Cycle.
It was a common condition. Normally, an Omega would go through heat with the help of an Alpha, but those who kept relying solely on suppressants would eventually experience a breakdown—an uncontrolled heat cycle.
Losing control meant it could happen anytime—or not at all. Xia Qiqi silently prayed for the latter.
Suppressants had serious side effects. Long-term use damaged the body, sometimes leading to mental instability or even shock. That was why Omegas were often forced to rely on Alphas during their heats.
Feeling irritable, she set the report aside and moved to her desk. Turning on her laptop, she started working again.
Meanwhile,
Xie Yinian finally finished ten comic panels. Twenty more to go. She decided to take a break and finish the rest tomorrow.
She pushed open her door and went downstairs to find something to eat. Maybe there was still some yogurt in the fridge?
She remembered seeing a few bottles earlier. Maybe she could bring some to Xia Qiqi too—after all, that woman looked pretty down.
Xie Yinian grabbed a bottle and a few other flavors, then carried the yogurt and snacks upstairs.
Knock knock.
Xia Qiqi opened the door again. Xie Yinian grinned and waved the yogurt in her hand. “President Xia, want to drink some yogurt together?”
Xia Qiqi: “…”
Of course, Xie Yinian would never admit she just wanted to check on her. Seeing that calm expression now, she felt relieved—at least Xia Qiqi seemed fine.
Peeking inside, Xie Yinian smiled. “Can I come in?”
After all, they were supposed to be partners. Sharing food could be a good way to build rapport.
Xia Qiqi’s eyes stayed cold, fixed on Xie Yinian. What was this Alpha thinking? She might look harmless and naïve, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t dangerous. Letting her in would basically be inviting a wolf into her den.
Expressionless, Xia Qiqi took one of the yogurt bottles from her arms. “Thanks for the offer, but I’m working.”
“Oh, okay then. I won’t bother you.” Xie Yinian smiled awkwardly and turned back to her own room, snacks still in hand.
Once she left, Xia Qiqi returned to her desk and continued working.
In her own room, Xie Yinian sat down and sipped her yogurt through a straw. She couldn’t help recalling the faint, cool scent she’d caught earlier outside Xia Qiqi’s door.
It had been fresh and soothing—mint, maybe? So Xia Qiqi’s pheromones were mint-scented. It suited her perfectly.
Xie Yinian smiled to herself. Still, she preferred her own scent—creamy and sweet, like milk. She loved milk. Yogurt, too.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She picked it up.
“Hello? Who’s this?”
“Xiao Nian, do you have enough money?” her mother’s voice came through warmly. “I just got my salary. I can send you some.”
Xie Yinian chuckled softly. “Mom, no need. I’m fine now. Keep it for yourself.”
As she spoke, she wandered out of her room, pacing the hallway.
Hearing her daughter’s refusal, Mother Xie felt a rush of emotion. Her little girl had finally grown up and learned to be considerate.
“That’s good then. But have you found a job yet? If not, it’s fine. Just call me if you run out of money—don’t skip meals, okay?”
At that, Xie Yinian finally understood why the original owner of this body had been such a freeloader. With parents this indulgent, it was practically impossible not to be.
“I’ve found one, Mom. Don’t worry. I can take care of myself.” Drawing comics counts as a job right? she thought.
Her mother smiled on the other end. “I’m so glad to hear that. Thank heavens. I’ll tell your father—he’ll be so happy.”
“Mm-hm.”
“Oh, right, Xiao Nian—you’re not getting any younger. Have you found someone yet? You should start thinking about it.”
“Not yet,” Xie Yinian said lightly. “I’ll wait until I meet the right person.”
She didn’t dare mention the whole fake marriage situation. Her parents would have a heart attack.
“Ah, okay. I won’t nag you then. Bye-bye, sweetheart.”
“Bye, Mom.”
When the call ended, Xie Yinian checked the time. 6:10 p.m.—dinnertime.
Downstairs, the front door opened. Aunt Jiang came in with a basket of vegetables. From the landing, Xie Yinian waved.
“Good afternoon, Aunt Jiang.”
Aunt Jiang smiled warmly. “Where’s Miss Xia?”
“She’s in her room working,” Xie Yinian said, pointing toward the hallway.
“All right, I’ll start dinner then.”
“Okay.”
Watching Aunt Jiang head into the kitchen, Xie Yinian went downstairs and flopped onto the sofa. She turned on the TV and started watching.
At that moment, the screen was playing an over-the-top romance drama—and Xie Yinian was watching it with great interest.
