After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 49
Cheng Jianli noticed Jiang Muyan spacing out again and couldn’t help but smile faintly. “I’ve noticed that while you love saying strange things, why do you blush whenever I take the initiative?”
Jiang Muyan froze, then quickly realized Cheng Jianli was teasing her. She lowered her head and muttered, “I’m not blushing!”
Cheng Jianli gave her a sidelong glance. “Really?”
“Yeah, I don’t even want to look,” Jiang Muyan said, her mouth being the toughest part of her as she stood up defiantly. “Teacher Cheng, I don’t want to see you in that dress. Even if it’s the one I bought for you, I have zero interest in seeing it.”
“Must you always be so stubborn?” Cheng Jianli remarked. “If the sky fell, your mouth would probably hold it up.”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
With little conviction, she insisted, “Anyway, I don’t want to see it!”
Cheng Jianli placed the dress into a paper bag and said calmly, “Don’t worry, I won’t wear it for you.”
Jiang Muyan looked up, alarmed. “You won’t wear it for me?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “That’s right. Didn’t you say you didn’t want to see it?”
Jiang Muyan asked nervously, “Then who are you going to wear it for?”
Cheng Jianli smiled. “I won’t tell you.”
Jiang Muyan immediately launched into a ramble: “This dress is so beautiful, you can’t wear it for someone else! If even I don’t get to see it, why should anyone else?” As Cheng Jianli walked to the kitchen to pour water, Jiang Muyan followed, her words flowing endlessly. “Teacher Cheng, you have to wear your uniform at school, or you’ll break the rules. Besides, others won’t appreciate it like I would. You should just wear it for me, I’d definitely praise you…”
Cheng Jianli, annoyed by the chatter, turned around. “Are you done yet?”
Jiang Muyan answered earnestly, “Not really.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“I was just joking,” Cheng Jianli said, pouring water for Jiang Muyan. “Stop talking.”
Jiang Muyan took the glass hesitantly. “Really?”
Cheng Jianli nodded. “Mm.”
Jiang Muyan warned, “Don’t lie to me, or I’ll get mad.”
Cheng Jianli asked, “Have I ever lied to you?”
Jiang Muyan frowned. “Well… not exactly lied, but you do tease me a lot.”
Cheng Jianli smirked. “And you’re always joking around too. When do you ever speak seriously?”
Jiang Muyan, provoked, retorted, “When I said I’d go to college with you, I meant it!”
Cheng Jianli feigned forgetfulness. “Oh, right. I almost forgot. You’re doing two extra science practice tests tonight.”
Jiang Muyan: “!!!”
Cheng Jianli walked out of the kitchen, leaving Jiang Muyan standing there dumbfounded.
What could she do? She felt completely at Cheng Jianli’s mercy.
Was there any hope left?
About ten minutes later, Cheng Jianli finished packing her belongings. Jiang Muyan hefted the bag and remarked, “Teacher Cheng, you really don’t have much.”
Cheng Jianli replied, “There’s not much to take, mostly books.”
Jiang Muyan said, “Uncle Liu went to buy some boxes. You can pack the books in those.”
Cheng Jianli checked her phone. “How long until Uncle Liu gets here?”
Jiang Muyan answered, “Probably a little while. He said he wanted to get sturdy ones.”
Cheng Jianli looked at the two stacks of books by the door and said, “Let’s take a break then. It’s almost noon, are you hungry?”
Jiang Muyan rubbed the back of her head and answered honestly, “A little bit.”
“There’s not much at home,” Cheng Jianli said. “How about I cook some dumplings for you?”
Jiang Muyan looked surprised. “Teacher Cheng, you can make dumplings too?”
“I made a batch earlier and froze them in the fridge,” Cheng Jianli explained. “They’re easy to prepare later. How many should I cook for you?”
Jiang Muyan figured she’d be having lunch at home soon anyway, so she said, “Five should be enough.”
Cheng Jianli frowned. “Will that really fill you up?”
As Jiang Muyan looked at the small dining table in the living room, an idea suddenly occurred to her. She asked sheepishly, “Then… would you eat with me?”
“I’ll cook twenty first,” Cheng Jianli decided. “We’ll see if we finish them.”
Jiang Muyan obediently said “Okay” and followed her to the kitchen. “Let me boil the water for you.”
“There’s no need,” Cheng Jianli replied. “You can just play with your phone.”
Jiang Muyan immediately protested, “I can’t let you do all the work by yourself.”
Though Cheng Jianli felt touched by these words, she maintained her calm demeanor. “Do you act like this at home too?”
“Huh?” Jiang Muyan poured purified water into the pot. “You mean cooking dumplings? Not really. Uncle Liu and the others never let me do any chores. If I didn’t insist on bathing alone, I think the housekeeper would try to wash me herself.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you,” Cheng Jianli said seriously.
Jiang Muyan looked puzzled. “What is it?”
“Shouldn’t rich second-generation kids be spoiled? Why do you seem different from others?”
After some thought, Jiang Muyan answered, “Maybe because I’m not a rich second-generation.”
“Then what are you?”
“I’m a rich third-generation.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“Just kidding,” Jiang Muyan flashed her neat white teeth with a cheerful laugh. “I am a rich second-generation. My father built his fortune from scratch, I really admire him.”
“What about you?” Cheng Jianli asked. “What do you want to do in the future? Inherit the family business?”
Jiang Muyan hesitated. “If I can’t get into university, I’ll definitely have to go back and inherit it.”
Before Cheng Jianli could respond, Jiang Muyan suddenly grabbed her hand earnestly. “Teacher Cheng, you have to make sure I get into university. Otherwise, I’ll be dragged back to inherit the family business!”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Given Jiang Muyan’s intelligence level, the risks of her inheriting the Jiang Corporation were indeed too great.
With a straight face, Cheng Jianli said, “Alright, I won’t let it come to that.”
As they started cooking the dumplings, Jiang Muyan stayed true to her word and didn’t let Cheng Jianli lift a finger, handling everything herself.
Standing nearby, Cheng Jianli asked, “Besides cooking dumplings, what other dishes can you make?”
While adding water to the pot, Jiang Muyan replied, “If you give me a recipe, I can probably make lots of things.”
Cheng Jianli nodded, and Jiang Muyan asked in return, “Teacher Cheng, you must be really good at cooking, right?”
Cheng Jianli said, “When I’m home alone, I always cook. It’s much cheaper than buying food outside.”
Jiang Muyan replied, “That’s true.”
As they chatted, the dumplings were soon ready.
Cheng Jianli brought over a small bowl of vinegar and asked, “Do you like dipping your dumplings in vinegar?”
Jiang Muyan, setting the table, looked up and said, “It’s alright, but I prefer them plain.”
“Alright, I’ll leave this here for you. Take your time,” Cheng Jianli said.
Twenty dumplings would take a while to eat.
Jiang Muyan asked curiously, “Aren’t you eating?”
“Uncle Liu hasn’t arrived yet. I’ll take a shower first,” Cheng Jianli replied.
“You’re taking a shower? You could just use my place. My bathtub is huge and really comfortable,” Jiang Muyan suggested.
“If I go to your place, I’ll have to tutor you. I don’t want to waste too much time,” Cheng Jianli said.
Jiang Muyan scratched her head. “Alright, go ahead then.”
“Don’t worry about cleaning up after eating. I’ll take care of it when I’m done,” Cheng Jianli added.
Jiang Muyan glared at her. “No way. I won’t let you do any chores.”
Seeing Jiang Muyan’s firm stance, Cheng Jianli didn’t argue further.
She went to her room to get a change of clothes. As she came out, Jiang Muyan suddenly called, “Teacher Cheng.”
Frowning slightly, Cheng Jianli asked, “What is it?”
Jiang Muyan whispered, “Can I see your room after dinner?”
She was really curious about what her wife’s room looked like!
Cheng Jianli: “?”
Jiang Muyan pouted. “You only let me stay in the living room and kitchen. I haven’t seen your room yet.”
“My room is very ordinary. There’s nothing interesting to see,” Cheng Jianli said.
“Is there something I shouldn’t see?” Jiang Muyan pressed.
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Jiang Muyan looked worried. “Teacher Cheng, you’re not hiding anything inappropriate for a high school student, are you?”
Cheng Jianli’s eye twitched. “No.”
“Then why can’t I see it?” Jiang Muyan whined.
Taking a deep breath, Cheng Jianli said, “Fine, you can look. You can go now if you want.”
“But I still need to eat. I’ll check after dinner,” Jiang Muyan said.
“…Alright, take your time,” Cheng Jianli replied.
After eating eight dumplings, Jiang Muyan felt satisfied. She picked up her phone to call Uncle Liu.
The call connected after a few seconds.
“Hey, Uncle Liu, where are you?” Jiang Muyan asked.
“Miss, I happened to stop by the company. Madam asked me to pick up a contract,” Uncle Liu replied.
Jiang Muyan sounded surprised. “Mom’s at the company?”
“Madam is handling the collaboration with the Song family. The chairman is abroad, so she’s been very busy these days,” Uncle Liu explained.
The Song family…
Jiang Muyan remembered those two sunflower oil guys. One of them, Song Wen, had kept calling her “little thing, aren’t you charmed?” She’d wanted to slap him.
“Can we not work with them?” Jiang Muyan asked earnestly.
“I’m not sure about that,” Uncle Liu chuckled. “Still holding a grudge from last time, Miss?”
“Of course I remember. He was so slimy, unforgettable,” Jiang Muyan said.
Uncle Liu laughed on the other end. “Alright, Miss, I’ll be back soon. Please wait a little longer.”
Jiang Muyan hummed in agreement and hung up.
Hearing the clear sound of water from the bathroom, she suddenly remembered she hadn’t checked out Cheng Jianli’s room yet!
Since her wife had already given permission, she couldn’t miss this opportunity. Thinking this, Jiang Muyan got up and headed towards Cheng Jianli’s bedroom.
Opening the door, her eyes were met with yellowed wallpaper. The room appeared quite small overall, with the window open, unexpectedly cozy and comfortable. The only major furniture was a bed, no wardrobe, just clothes hanging on a nearby rack.
On the brown nightstand beside the bed sat a vase of fresh flowers, emitting a faint, pleasant fragrance.
Jiang Muyan glanced around and realized there was nowhere to sit except on Cheng Jianli’s bed.
Could she sit there?
Scratching her head, she decided against it. It wouldn’t do to upset Cheng Jianli, she dreaded her wife’s anger most of all.
So Jiang Muyan turned her attention to the vase of flowers on the nightstand instead. She noticed Cheng Jianli really seemed to enjoy keeping plants, even having flowers in her bedroom.
After admiring them for a while, her peripheral vision caught a glimpse of white fabric peeking out from under the blanket.
A corner of the garment revealed a cute little cherry pattern.
Jiang Muyan froze.
Wait, if she wasn’t mistaken, wasn’t that the underwear she’d bought for Cheng Jianli recently?
Cheng Jianli was actually wearing it?!
Her heart inexplicably raced with excitement. Just as she was about to stand up, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind: “What are you doing?”
Cheng Jianli walked in while drying her hair. Water droplets trailed down her fair cheeks to her slender neck, her damp locks cascading over her shoulders. She looked completely at ease, as if she’d let her guard down.
She’d already finished showering.
Unable to contain her excitement, Jiang Muyan blurted out happily, “Teacher Cheng, you’re wearing that cherry-patterned underwear I bought you today?”
Cheng Jianli: “…?”
Jiang Muyan continued with earnest questions: “Does the size fit? Is it too small? Is it comfortable?”
“Must you ask so bluntly?” Even knowing Jiang Muyan spoke her mind freely, Cheng Jianli turned her face away in embarrassment. “This is really perverted.”
