After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 45
Half an hour later.
Jiang Muyan was squirming like a pretzel next to Cheng Jianli, staring blankly at the two math test papers in front of her, unsure how to even begin.
Earlier, seeing Cheng Jianli in a bad mood, she had impulsively agreed to do two extra math papers tonight. But now that it was actually happening, she couldn’t bring herself to write a single word.
Cheng Jianli sat in the chair beside her, bathed in the warm orange glow of the lamp. Her delicate lips, rosy and pretty, were slightly pursed as she lowered her head, her neck curving into an elegant arc. Beneath her soft, tousled bangs was a mango-scented scent-blocking patch.
Jiang Muyan was long used to seeing the scent-blocking patch, and Cheng Jianli was comfortable enough to wear it openly around her. But what really impressed Jiang Muyan was how, despite being in such a terrible mood earlier, Cheng Jianli could immediately throw herself into studying her wife’s discipline and perseverance were truly admirable.
Jiang Muyan called out, “Teacher Cheng…”
Cheng Jianli didn’t look up, still focused on her work. “What is it?”
Jiang Muyan asked, “Are you feeling any better now?”
“Mm,” Cheng Jianli lifted her head, her lovely lips curving into a smile. “I feel much better.”
Truthfully, the news that Zhang Qiang had sold his newborn daughter still weighed heavily on her. The fact that such a scumbag had lived under the same roof as her for over a decade and that his son had even wanted to be with her left her speechless, filled with nothing but disgust and revulsion.
But beyond the anger, there was also a sense of uncertainty about the future.
She was, in every sense of the word, without a home now.
Earlier, Jiang Muyan’s eyes had been full of concern and tenderness, Cheng Jianli couldn’t have missed it. But she had already thanked her so many times that saying it again would just feel excessive. So she pushed aside the past and focused on tutoring Jiang Muyan seriously.
Except… Jiang Muyan’s burning gaze was impossible to ignore.
“Why are you staring at me?” Cheng Jianli frowned slightly, the lamplight casting long, thick shadows from her lashes across the bridge of her nose.
She realized Jiang Muyan hadn’t been working on her math papers at all instead, she had been sneakily watching her.
For a full ten minutes. Even a blind person would’ve noticed.
Jiang Muyan answered nervously, “I was afraid you’d cry.”
Cheng Jianli said, “Why would I cry?”
Jiang Muyan’s concern was written plainly on her face her emotions were always transparent. She scratched her head. “Because your family is really awful.”
Cheng Jianli replied softly, “I won’t cry.”
Jiang Muyan said earnestly, “But I felt like you wanted to cry earlier, when you leaned on my shoulder.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“Right?” Jiang Muyan patted her own shoulder confidently. “Didn’t my shoulder make you feel safe? Weren’t you so moved you wanted to cry?”
Cheng Jianli’s lips twitched. “…No.”
Jiang Muyan said shyly, “Teacher Cheng, you don’t have to lie. If you want to cry, just let it out.”
Cheng Jianli took a deep breath. “I really don’t want to cry.”
Jiang Muyan studied Cheng Jianli’s face intently. Though her eyes were slightly glossy, there were no signs of tears. So she asked, “Then how do you feel right now?”
Cheng Jianli said earnestly, “I really want you to focus on solving problems. Stop talking nonsense.”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
“Besides that,” Jiang Muyan asked regretfully, “Teacher Cheng, didn’t I make you feel safe just now?”
When Jiang Muyan asked this, Cheng Jianli seemed to genuinely recall the moment she had leaned against Jiang Muyan’s shoulder.
To be honest, Jiang Muyan was slightly taller than her and far more lively than her reserved personality, always acting as if she’d stand up for her, it did make her feel safe.
A faint blush, rare on Cheng Jianli’s snow-pale face, appeared as she murmured softly, “Mm, you made me feel better.”
A bright smile instantly bloomed on Jiang Muyan’s guileless face. She said cheerfully, “See? I told you, taking advantage of someone really does make you happy.”
Cheng Jianli didn’t respond, and Jiang Muyan’s voice grew even more animated. “Next time you take advantage of me, you can do more than just hug me, you know!”
“More?” Cheng Jianli looked up at her, blinking in confusion.
Jiang Muyan declared shamelessly, “Yeah.”
Studying her expression, Cheng Jianli suddenly smiled faintly. “Do you find math problems too boring? Maybe we should do something else instead.”
Jiang Muyan asked blankly, “Something else like what?”
Under the warm orange light, Cheng Jianli’s eyes gleamed particularly bright. Her rosy lips parted slightly as she spoke in a voice soft as a breeze over water, “Do you want to do it?”
Hearing this, Jiang Muyan’s hands trembled inexplicably, and she nearly jumped out of her chair, her heart pounding wildly.
The scene uncontrollably reminded her of the past.
Before transmigrating into this book, Cheng Jianli had been just like this calm, composed, and always unruffled no matter what she did. Even during intimate moments, she could ask Jiang Muyan with perfect serenity, “Do you want to do it?” or “Come here and have me.”
So, in the past, Jiang Muyan had been completely at her wife’s mercy.
Not that she minded, of course.
After all, back then, Cheng Jianli hadn’t been quite so aloof, her expression carrying a fragile kind of beauty.
Jiang Muyan swallowed hard. “For real?”
Cheng Jianli’s eyes were like pools of icy water. “What’s wrong? Can’t we?”
Jiang Muyan’s mind was already flooded with “indecent thoughts.” She hesitated, “It’s not that we can’t, but isn’t this moving a bit too fast?” Her face flushed, equal parts embarrassed and excited, her voice sounding as if it had been steeped in rich wine. “Actually, I’m still quite innocent, hahaha, and we’re still high school students. Our top priority should be studying hard…”
Cheng Jianli gave her a silent look before asking, “So, are we doing it or not?”
Jiang Muyan asked nervously, “You’re serious?”
Cheng Jianli nodded thoughtfully. “Up to you.”
Jiang Muyan immediately exclaimed excitedly, “Yes!!! I want to!!!”
Without hesitation, Cheng Jianli pulled out 1,000 Must-Solve Physics Problems for the College Entrance Exam from her bag and slammed it loudly in front of Jiang Muyan. “Alright, then start solving physics problems now.”
Jiang Muyan froze, then stared at Cheng Jianli in shock, only to see a faint smile playing on her lips, spreading from her eyes to her rosy mouth. “What? Not doing it?”
Jiang Muyan said, “Huh?”
Cheng Jianli said, “Didn’t you find doing math papers too dull? Switch to physics for a while to change your mindset.”
Jiang Muyan: “???”
She was increasingly feeling like she was being played like a fiddle by her wife.
After what felt like an eternity, Jiang Muyan felt like cobwebs were about to form on her when Uncle Liu finally knocked on the door: “Young Miss.”
Jiang Muyan said, “Come in,” and Uncle Liu entered, seeing Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli sitting at the desk. He asked, “Young Miss, what would you like for tonight’s after-dinner fruit? They’re preparing to go shopping now.”
Jiang Muyan replied numbly, “Just buy whatever you think is best, Uncle Liu. Other than anything related to studying, I don’t want to talk about anything right now.”
Uncle Liu: “? Young Miss, what’s wrong?”
Cheng Jianli answered for her: “She might be a bit mentally drained. She’s done too much physics tonight.”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
Mentally drained was an understatement, she felt like her spirit was hanging by a thread.
Why was her wife’s tutoring so terrifying? She finally understood what Cheng Jianli had meant when she said that once the real tutoring began, Jiang Muyan might not want to see her every day.
With this kind of brutal training, if it weren’t for Cheng Jianli being the one doing it, Jiang Muyan would have given up long ago!
She closed her eyes in agony, but when she opened them again, the physics problems were still unfinished friction, resultant forces, uniform linear motion, weightlessness… Just looking at them made her heart ache.
But Cheng Jianli was sitting right beside her, so she had no choice but to grit her teeth and keep going.
Uncle Liu smiled when he saw this and quietly closed the door behind him.
He decided to buy a variety of fruits, the Young Miss would probably be studying late into the night.
By the time Jiang Muyan finally finished all the problems Cheng Jianli had assigned, it was already 11 p.m.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, everything was quiet. In the distance, the vast night sky stretched endlessly, its stars swallowed by the deep darkness, making it seem infinitely vast and beautiful.
Seeing Jiang Muyan put down her pen, Cheng Jianli looked up and asked softly, “Finished?”
Jiang Muyan nodded miserably. “Mission accomplished, master.”
Cheng Jianli: “……?”
She picked up a red pen to grade the work while Jiang Muyan collapsed onto the carpet, stretching and crawling in a twisted position.
Cheng Jianli quickly finished grading and said, “You did alright, but I feel like your calculations involving functions still aren’t up to par. Practice a few more function problems this weekend, and I’ll explain them to you.”
“As for physics, the final calculation problems weren’t done well,” Cheng Jianli continued. “The friction problems are particularly challenging for you, so you need to master the concepts here. There’s bound to be at least one friction-related question in the science section.”
Jiang Muyan stared blankly at the azure ceiling and said lifelessly, “Got it.”
“You studied for about three hours after coming home from school today,” Cheng Jianli said, glancing at the wall clock with a gentle smile. “That’s good. With this kind of dedication, you’ll definitely get into University C.”
“But I haven’t even had dinner yet, Teacher Cheng,” Jiang Muyan whined. “It’s already 11 p.m.”
Cheng Jianli replied, “You can go eat now.”
Jiang Muyan scooted closer to her. “Then come with me.”
Cheng Jianli said, “Wait a moment, let me mark the key points on the test paper first. That way, you’ll have a clearer idea when copying them into your mistake notebook.” She pulled out a blue pen from her pencil case and lowered her head, adding, “You can go eat first.”
Jiang Muyan, seeing that her wife was even willing to help her organize her mistakes, immediately sat back down in her chair and said earnestly, “Then I think I’ll stay here instead.”
Cheng Jianli asked, “What’s wrong? Weren’t you hungry?”
Jiang Muyan replied seriously, “I suddenly don’t feel hungry anymore. I want to wait for you.”
Cheng Jianli didn’t press further and instead began carefully highlighting and annotating the important sections for Jiang Muyan.
As Jiang Muyan watched Cheng Jianli taking such responsibility for her studies, she suddenly remembered that it was already eleven o’clock at night and an idea popped into her head.
She blurted out, “Teacher Cheng, why don’t you just stay at my place from now on?”
Cheng Jianli: “Hmm?”
