After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 29.2
Xu Yinghe’s frown remained, already forgetting about the collision. “Are you crying?”
You Xia quickly shook her head, but her reddened eyes betrayed her.
“What’s wrong?” Xu Yinghe glanced around; there were no familiar classmates nearby.
“I’m fine…” You Xia mumbled woodenly.
“Then I’ll be going,” Xu Yinghe said, turning to leave.
But as she started to walk away, You Xia panicked and grabbed her sleeve, then immediately let go. Xu Yinghe found this hesitant behavior strange. “What’s really going on?”
You Xia shook her head and whispered, “Just a small disagreement with a classmate…”
“You don’t seem like the type to start trouble,” Xu Yinghe remarked casually, having nothing better to do. “Who’s bullying you?”
You Xia’s fingers twisted nervously together. She wasn’t one to tattle, especially not in front of Xu Yinghe.
She had thought she’d never see Xu Yinghe again, yet here they were, meeting unexpectedly at her lowest moment. Her emotions plummeted further.
“The transfer student… he’s my deskmate…” The memory of Zhang Siyuan’s actions stabbed at her like a thorn, intensifying her insecurity. “He insulted me… really harshly.”
Xu Yinghe listened, then asked, “Did you insult him back?”
You Xia timidly shook her head.
“Wait, the transfer student in Class 4 is he the one who argued with Jiang Muyan on the stairs yesterday?” Xu Yinghe had heard about the incident. “Zhang Siyuan?”
You Xia gave a soft “Mm” in confirmation.
Xu Yinghe said calmly, “Go wash your face. Your eyes are red as a rabbit’s.”
Reminded by this, You Xia hurried off.
Xu Yinghe watched her retreating figure, then glanced at the Class 4 doorplate before leaving as well.
The homeroom teacher’s office.
Zhang Wen was organizing the Class 2 attendance sheet when a knock came at the door, followed by someone entering.
“Hello, teacher. Is the Class 4 homeroom teacher here?” Xu Yinghe’s voice was perfectly composed.
Zhang Wen turned around: “Class 4… You’re from Class 1, right? Do you need something from Teacher Xu?”
Xu Yinghe nodded.
Zhang Wen smiled and said, “Teacher Xu went to get water and hasn’t come back yet. You can sit here and wait for a while.”
Xu Yinghe replied, “Okay, thank you, teacher.”
Zhang Wen took the Class 2 attendance sheet and left the office.
Apart from Xu Yinghe, the office was empty. She looked around, the offices at Hongchuan Seventh High were warm and comfortable, and the teachers loved greenery. They had filled the space with vibrant plants, making it lively and lush.
After waiting just a few minutes, Teacher Xu returned, carrying a cup of hot tea. He looked at Xu Yinghe in surprise. “Huh? Yinghe, what brings you here?”
Xu Yinghe said, “Hello, Uncle.”
Teacher Xu was Xu Yinghe’s uncle, named Xu Ze, though Xu Yinghe rarely mentioned this to anyone at school.
“Your dad’s been on a business trip lately, hasn’t he?” Xu Ze sat down with a smile. “If you’re bored, come stay at my place. Your cousin misses you.”
Xu Yinghe lowered her eyes. “Thank you, Uncle, but I have a housekeeper taking care of me at home. I won’t trouble you.”
“You’re always cooped up at home, what’s the fun in that?” Xu Ze sighed, having expected this answer. “So, what did you need?”
Xu Yinghe said, “Uncle, there’s a transfer student in Class 4, right?”
Xu Ze thought for a moment. “Yeah, he just transferred a few days ago. His name is Zhang Siyuan.”
Xu Yinghe said, “Can you change his seat? Make him sit alone.”
Xu Ze frowned. “Why?”
Xu Yinghe replied, “Because a classmate of mine in Class 4 told me Zhang Siyuan is too noisy. He talks constantly during class and disturbs the students around him.”
She didn’t mention You Xia, partly to protect her privacy, and partly because she still didn’t want others to know she was acquainted with her.
Xu Ze’s expression turned serious. “Really? If that’s the case, I’ll change his seat immediately. The midterms are coming up, he can’t be disrupting others like this.”
Xu Yinghe nodded. “Then I’ll take my leave, Uncle.”
“Alright, go ahead,” Xu Ze picked up the attendance sheet. “I’ll head back to Class 4.”
After the homeroom session ended that day, You Xia was unexpectedly informed by the teacher that she would be changing seats the next day, she’d be paired with another girl.
The girl seemed well-behaved, and since their academic levels were similar, they could help each other improve.
Meanwhile, Jiang Muyan’s cold had worsened over the past two days. Uncle Liu was so worried that he refused to let the young mistress go to school.
Jiang Muyan writhed on her bed in protest. “Nooo, Uncle Liu! Take me to school! I can’t give up on my studies!”
Uncle Liu said, “Young Mistress, you’re really sick. The family doctor insisted you rest properly. If you develop a fever, you won’t be able to take the midterms.”
Jiang Muyan lamented, “But Teacher Cheng hasn’t come to tutor me for two whole days!”
Uncle Liu: “…”
Since when had the young mistress been so enthusiastic about tutoring?
“How about you discuss it with Teacher Cheng and see if she can come over tonight?” Uncle Liu suggested. “I’ll have an extra dinner prepared.”
“Then I’ll text her.” Jiang Muyan immediately perked up.
Within minutes of sending the message, Cheng Jianli replied:
Cheng Jianli: [If you’re sick, you shouldn’t have tutoring. I know you want to pass the midterms, but your health is more important.]
Jiang Muyan quickly replied: [“I feel like I’m already better, full of pawer!”]
Cheng Jianli: [“…”]
Cheng Jianli: [“It’s ‘power.'”]
Jiang Muyan let out an awkward laugh on the other side of the screen before she could reply further, when suddenly the word “Wifey” popped up, accompanied by a ringtone.
This was the nickname she had set for Cheng Jianli, but that wasn’t the main point, the real surprise was that Cheng Jianli had actually called her first?
Jiang Muyan was so thrilled she nearly dropped her phone, hastily answering, “Hello, Teacher Cheng!”
Cheng Jianli’s calm voice came through the phone, “How are you feeling?”
Jiang Muyan wasn’t sure whether to play pitiful or tell the truth, so she just said, “I feel much better. Do you want to come over tonight for tutoring?”
Cheng Jianli sounded doubtful, “You’re better? But your nasal congestion still sounds pretty bad.”
“You’ll know for sure when you see me in person,” Jiang Muyan said.
Cheng Jianli, hiding in the back row of the classroom, hesitated for a moment before whispering, “Fine, I’ll come to check on you later.”
Before she could finish, another voice cut in their homeroom teacher, Zhang Wen: “Cheng Jianli, no phones during self-study. I’ll hold onto it for now. Come get it after school.”
Jiang Muyan could only watch as the call ended abruptly.
Wait… did she just get her wifey scolded by the teacher?
After school, Uncle Liu, following Jiang Muyan’s instructions, went to Hongchuan No. 7 High to pick up Cheng Jianli.
He was driving the latest model Rolls-Royce. As Cheng Jianli stepped out of the school gates, heading toward her bicycle, she was suddenly blocked by several burly men in black suits.
The men exuded an intimidating presence, but Cheng Jianli merely frowned slightly. Before she could even ask what was going on, Uncle Liu stepped out of the Rolls-Royce and approached her. “Teacher Cheng, please get in the car,” he said, then turned to the men. “These are bodyguards. The young miss specifically sent them to protect you.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Did Jiang Muyan even know the meaning of the word “excessive”?
“Thank you, Uncle Liu,” Cheng Jianli said stiffly, reluctantly climbing into the luxury car.
Uncle Liu smiled as he closed the door for her, then stepped on the gas, disappearing from the school gates in an instant.
However, all of this was witnessed by Zhang Siyuan, who had just left the school.
His face twisted in fury.
Just as he suspected back then, when Cheng Jianli had defied her family to attend Hongchuan No. 7 High, it was all to cozy up to the rich kids here! With such expensive cars picking her up every day, how could she even think of going home?!
What a heartless, ungrateful wretch!
Zhang Siyuan cursed Cheng Jianli viciously in his mind. Back in middle school, when she refused to drop out and work in a factory to help him buy a house, he had already despised her. And then she had the nerve to reject his confession?!
His molars ground together in fury.
How was he not good enough for Cheng Jianli?! As the only son of the Zhang family, the entire bloodline depended on him! And yet she looked down on him, what was so great about being book-smart?! Now that he was at Hongchuan No. 7 High, he’d make sure Cheng Jianli suffered!
Malice burned in Zhang Siyuan’s eyes as he kicked a rock hard and stormed off.
When Cheng Jianli arrived at the villa, Jiang Muyan was indeed waiting for her.
It had been two days since they’d last seen each other. Strangely, without Jiang Muyan’s lively voice filling her days, Cheng Jianli had actually felt… a little bored.
She pushed open the door to Jiang Muyan’s room and saw the person lying on the desk, holding an English textbook while murmuring to herself, “So it really is ‘power’ after all…”
Cheng Jianli gave a light cough.
Jiang Muyan immediately turned her head, eyes brightening. “Teacher Cheng? You’re here!”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Mm.”
he approached Jiang Muyan and asked, “Are you really better now?”
In truth, Jiang Muyan’s condition hadn’t improved, it was actually worsening. But she’d missed Cheng Jianli so much that she couldn’t help lying: “Maybe… maybe not completely recovered yet but I feel much more energetic now!”
To make it more convincing, she even blinked her eyes deliberately.
Cheng Jianli didn’t suspect anything and sat down beside Jiang Muyan. “If you’re really better, you should catch up on your homework. You’ve fallen behind quite a bit.”
Jiang Muyan leaned closer and asked, “Teacher Cheng, how many days until the monthly exam?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “I’m not sure. The school hasn’t announced it yet, but it should be within a week at most.”
Jiang Muyan had actually planned what to say before Cheng Jianli arrived. She shyly continued, “Teacher Cheng, do you remember last time when I said you should give me a reward if I pass the monthly exam?”
Cheng Jianli opened the textbook and started marking key points for Jiang Muyan. “Of course I remember. What do you want? Nothing too expensive though.”
Having not seen Cheng Jianli for two days, Jiang Muyan thought she looked even more beautiful now, her skin fair and smooth, her voice clear as a bell, her eyelashes fluttering like they were tickling her heart.
Still blushing, Jiang Muyan said, “Then I’ll say it.”
Cheng Jianli: “Go ahead.”
Jiang Muyan grinned. “Could you let me touch the back of your neck then?”
Cheng Jianli looked up: “?”
Jiang Muyan’s eyes were clear and innocent: “Teacher Cheng, you don’t actually have any injury there, do you?”
Cheng Jianli paused, a vague realization dawning on her. She stopped writing: “…How did you know?”
Jiang Muyan said seriously, “Because you never let me see it. And every time I got close, I could smell something sweet. I’d be really stupid if I still couldn’t figure it out.”
Cheng Jianli smiled faintly: “So you’ve guessed it then?”
Jiang Muyan nodded confidently: “Yes!”
Cheng Jianli said, “Do you know that everyone who learns this secret has to be silenced by me?”
Jiang Muyan gasped: “Silenced?!”
“Just kidding,” Cheng Jianli couldn’t help laughing at Jiang Muyan’s reaction. “But since you’ve guessed it, I can show you now and explain some additional details.”
“You scared me,” Jiang Muyan patted her chest, pouting. “It’s just a tattoo, right? I really thought you were going to silence me.”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
“A tattoo?” Cheng Jianli frowned at the word.
“Yeah!” Jiang Muyan was utterly confident in her deduction, beaming with pride. “I’ve been thinking, what needs to be covered with band-aids, kept secret from others, hidden at school, and has a special smell?” She concluded triumphantly, “Teacher Cheng, did you secretly get a tattoo?”
Cheng Jianli’s eyelid twitched: “…”
“No,” Cheng Jianli said expressionlessly. “Stop guessing. That’s completely ridiculous.”
