After Transmigrating Into A Novel, Not Only Did I Become An Omega, But I Also Provoked The Male Lead’s Mother - Chapter 5
“What’s going on?” Ling Jixiao’s cool voice drew the attention of both Qin Yue and the security guard.
The early morning sunlight spilled over her jade-like skin, making her seem to glow from within.
It wasn’t just about drawing attention. As the CEO of Minghui Group, Ling Jixiao naturally drew the eyes of everyone in the room, though the employees dared not stare openly.
The security guard stopped abruptly upon seeing Ling Jixiao, about to call out, “CEO Ling…”
“Let her in,” Ling Jixiao said. She knew Qin Yue and, while curious about why she wanted to enter the company, was certain she wasn’t a suspicious character. Perhaps out of guilt over the previous misunderstanding that Qin Yue had deliberately tried to seduce her, or perhaps simply intrigued by Qin Yue’s motives, Ling Jixiao instructed the security guard to let her pass.
“Right away,” the guard nodded, stepping aside.
Qin Yue watched Le Ran enter the elevator, then turned to the beautiful woman who had helped her, nodding gratefully. “Thank you so much, pretty lady!” she exclaimed, rushing toward the elevator.
Ling Jixiao, who had been inexplicably awarded the “good person” card, was speechless.
What an ungrateful little brat!
She had expected Qin Yue to recognize her, even preparing herself for a look of shock or anger. Instead, she saw only unfamiliarity in Qin Yue’s eyes, along with a flicker of awe. Ling Jixiao didn’t realize it at the time, but she felt a subtle sense of disappointment.
Ling Jixiao couldn’t help but mentally grumble as she maintained her calm demeanor and walked into the company.
As she passed, employees greeted her, and she nodded slightly, her expression impassive. Yet, out of the corner of her eye, she kept watch on Qin Yue, trying to discern her intentions.
Could it be that her boyfriend or girlfriend works here?
The thought sent a strange heaviness into Ling Jixiao’s eyes, an indescribable feeling settling in her chest. Her gaze, now cold, followed Qin Yue’s retreating back.
Hmph, the company has strict rules against allowing outsiders in! We’ll see which employee dares to be so brazen!
As for whether she had the time and reason to do this… well, as a leader, she needed to inspect her employees’ work from time to time!
Standing by the elevator, Qin Yue remained unaware of Ling Jixiao’s thoughts. She stared intently at the elevator, trying to memorize the floors it stopped at. For some reason, she felt a chill creeping up her spine.
Fortunately, the previous elevator hadn’t been crowded, stopping at only three floors. After memorizing them, Qin Yue stepped inside.
Seeing Qin Yue enter the elevator, Ling Jixiao instinctively followed. Realizing what she’d done, she quickly moved to the farthest corner of the elevator to avoid being noticed.
Everyone waiting for the elevator fell silent. Why isn’t the CEO using his private elevator today? Is he secretly inspecting the department managers’ work?
Heavens, please don’t ask me for information! I’m just a lowly employee! I can’t afford to offend the boss!
The crowd that had surged into the elevator quickly backed out, hunching their shoulders like quail as they stood outside.
The once-crowded elevator suddenly emptied.
Qin Yue, puzzled, propped open the elevator door and looked at the shuffling crowd. “Aren’t you coming?”
The group glanced at Ling Jixiao’s impassive face behind Qin Yue. Some claimed to be waiting for others, some said they had errands to run, and others mentioned needing to retrieve something. In short, they all meant: You go first.
Qin Yue, oblivious to the unspoken tension, pressed the button for the first floor she’d seen earlier, since she was in a hurry to find someone.
The first floor was the fifth, and the elevator arrived quickly.
Qin Yue asked around the office area and, by luck, found someone who recognized Lin Le Ran. “She’s in sales,” they said. “They’re on the seventh floor.”
Qin Yue expressed her gratitude and hurried back to the elevator. As she arrived, she bumped into Ling Jixiao, who had just stepped out and was hesitating about what to do.
“Oh hey, Ling Jixiao! What brings you here?” Qin Yue asked, noticing her colleague’s indecision.
Ling Jixiao looked up, startled. “Oh, Qin Yue! I was just… I was looking for the restroom. Do you know where it is?”
Qin Yue pointed in the direction of the restroom. “It’s right over there. Just follow the signs.”
Ling Jixiao nodded gratefully. “Thanks, Qin Yue. You’re a lifesaver!”
Qin Yue smiled. “No problem. Just doing what I can to help out.”
As Ling Jixiao headed toward the restroom, Qin Yue turned back to the elevator, feeling a sense of accomplishment. It was a small gesture, but it had made a difference.
“I’m just looking for someone. Don’t worry! I’ll be gone soon!” Qin Yue explained, seeing how strict the security guard was at the door. The company’s big boss must be a real stickler for rules. She didn’t want this kind-hearted woman to get in trouble because of her!
Ling Jixiao, the supposedly strict boss, wanted to ask Qin Yue who she was looking for, but the words died on her tongue. She recognized her Alpha possessiveness flaring up over a mere coincidence. Qin Yue and she were just two lines that had crossed paths briefly and would now drift apart.
“Mm,” Ling Jixiao nodded.
Just then, the elevator arrived, and Qin Yue stepped in.
Ling Jixiao watched the elevator rise to the seventh floor, her mind going blank for a moment. She didn’t even know what she’d been thinking about.
The department manager on this floor, having heard Ling Jixiao had arrived, hurried over to greet her. Ling Jixiao took the opportunity to review the quarterly work progress.
Qin Yue felt incredibly lucky today. She’d even prepared herself for finding the wrong person, but the Lin Le Ran she found on the seventh floor was indeed the Le Ran Grandma Li had mentioned.
Because they both still had work and couldn’t make it to the distant Xixing Sanatorium after late shifts, Qin Yue and Lin Le Ran agreed to visit Grandma Li this Saturday when they were off.
Qin Yue had initially thought finding someone in this vast world would be nearly impossible, and she’d even prepared to give up. She never imagined the world was so small!
After completing this task, Qin Yue felt a sense of relief. Perhaps this would leave Grandma Li without regrets in her final days.
As she spoke with Lin Le Ran, Qin Yue felt slightly unwell, her body warming up and her cheeks flushing with heat.
As she walked towards the elevator, Qin Yue not only felt warm all over, but the gland at the back of her neck was burning with alarming intensity. Her head also felt slightly dizzy.
Could this be low blood sugar…?
Omega heat periods occurred only once every three months, and having been in this world for less than two months, Qin Yue had never experienced one before. She mistook the symptoms for simple hypoglycemia.
As she stumbled toward the elevator, she remained unaware that the gland at the back of her neck was already emitting a peach-like fragrance.
Before she could reach the elevator, someone grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth, and dragged her into a room.
What’s going on? A kidnapping in broad daylight in a major corporation?
The captor was surprisingly strong. Qin Yue struggled desperately, but her body felt weak and unresponsive due to the approaching heat period, making it impossible to break free.
“W-what do you want?” Qin Yue felt softness against her shoulder, realizing her captor was a woman, not a man. This realization brought her a slight sense of relief.
She had come to inspect the work and decided to look around the entire building, thinking it would be suspicious to only visit the first floor. After all, many people had witnessed her letting an outsider into the company at the entrance. If she continued wandering around with this outsider, rumors would inevitably spread.
The Sales Department was a crucial part of the company, occupying several floors. When she reached the seventh floor to find the department manager, she was immediately struck by a familiar scent. Noticing the agitated Alphas around her, her expression instantly turned cold.
After quickly instructing the department manager to calm the situation, she followed the pheromone scent and swiftly found Qin Yue. Without hesitation, she dragged her into the Isolation Room.
The Isolation Room was designed for Omegas and Alphas during their heat periods, providing a comprehensive setup that included Inhibitors, a comfortable bed for rest, and a private bathroom.
It was clear that Minghui Group had gone to great lengths to provide the best possible benefits for its employees.
The peachy scent lingering around Qin Yue’s neck grew increasingly potent, like a seductive hook constantly tugging at Ling Jixiao’s heartstrings.
If she hadn’t tasted those delectable little peaches before, she might have been able to resist. But now that the temptation was right in front of her again, her resolve crumbled instantly.
Unable to control herself, Ling Jixiao leaned in close to Qin Yue’s nape and took a deep whiff.
Since this foolish little peach has come knocking again and isn’t resisting, I’d be doing myself a disservice by not indulging! Ling Jixiao thought, subconsciously pushing aside the fact that the Isolation Room was supposed to be filled with Inhibitors.
Qin Yue’s body shivered involuntarily as warm breath brushed against the back of her neck.
“Don’t… don’t…” Qin Yue began, but before she could finish, a thick minty taste froze her with a shiver, making her head spin even more.
Qin Yue’s foggy mind took forever to process the situation.
No wonder the mint scent felt so familiar—it was the woman who had “tormented” her all night last time.
Qin Yue wanted to turn around and see the woman’s face, but Ling Jixiao maliciously covered her eyes, pulled down the back of her shirt to expose her gland, and bit down.
“W-who… who are you?” The overwhelming mint scent washed over Qin Yue, flooding her entire body, freezing her to the point where she instinctively tried to cling to the woman behind her. But Ling Jixiao kept one hand over her eyes and gripped her waist with the other, preventing her from turning.
Qin Yue’s hands pressed against the wall before her, her fingertips turning white. She shrank her shoulders, trying to resist the invasion of this unfamiliar pheromone, but it was too intense.
It felt like she was a small boat caught in a raging storm, about to be dragged down into the ocean depths.
Ling Jixiao remained silent, unsure of her own intentions. She refused to reveal her name to Qin Yue.
The sweet peach scent made Ling Jixiao sigh. Noticing the person in her arms had gone limp and trembling, she removed her hand from Qin Yue’s eyes. The Alpha’s possessive instincts roared, urging her to bite, tear, and utterly claim the Omega before her.
Her hand unconsciously slipped beneath Qin Yue’s shirt.
