After Transmigrating Into A Novel, Not Only Did I Become An Omega, But I Also Provoked The Male Lead’s Mother - Chapter 34
Qin Yue carefully retraced her past encounters with the Mint-Scented Woman.
She dismissed the first time, when the woman’s powerful pheromones had left her mind in a fog.
The second time, though Qin Yue was a little dazed from being in heat, she still clearly remembered being in the Minghui Group building. If she had to involve Ling Jixiao, it meant that both Ling Jixiao and the Mint-Scented Woman worked for the same company.
Qin Yue remembered the group was huge, with many floors. With so many people around, Ling Jixiao and the Mint-Scented Woman might not have been the same person. They just happened to work in the same place.
During that kidnapping, she had been drugged and completely lost her senses. In the end, the Mint-Scented Woman took her to the hospital.
When she regained consciousness, both the police and Ling Jixiao said they found her because Ling Jixiao had called the police.
So Qin Yue automatically assumed Ling Jixiao had called the police, and the Mint-Scented Woman had coincidentally found her after the kidnapping. After reversing the drug’s effects, she’d abandoned Qin Yue in a private hospital until the police found her.
Ling Jixiao also admitted to calling the police. After all, she had been kidnapped right in front of her. Any normal person would have called the police after witnessing such a scene.
At first, Qin Yue hadn’t given it much thought. In her eyes, Ling Jixiao was elegant, kind, noble, beautiful, and gentle—like an understanding older sister. She couldn’t imagine how such a person could possibly be the same as that mint-scented, petty woman.
But now, recalling the situation, Qin Yue realized that if she equated Ling Jixiao with the mint-scented woman, there were actually many similarities between them.
Qin Yue wasn’t unintelligent; sometimes she simply didn’t bother to think things through. Her thought process was often careless and incomplete.
This realization sent a chill through her.
But it still feels so strange!
Qin Yue frowned, still finding it hard to believe.
How could Ling Jixiao possibly be the mint-scented woman? Their behavior and mannerisms were completely opposite!
It was like discovering that the security guard at an ordinary residential complex, who wore a military coat and sipped cheap tea every day, was actually a billionaire who drove a BMW. It just seemed too unbelievable.
The pheromone scent was unmistakable, as vivid as fresh mint blossoms right under her nose.
At the time, Qin Yue had been too focused on saving the person to dwell on it.
But now, the more she thought about it, the more she was convinced she hadn’t imagined it.
She didn’t want to unjustly suspect Ling Jixiao, so Qin Yue decided to find proof herself.
After her shower, she returned to the dorm just as Bai Zhi was arriving.
Bai Zhi wore a goofy grin, her teeth bared like a foolish landlord’s son.
Li Nuonuo, lying on her bed, asked curiously, “What’s got you so happy?”
Bai Zhi touched her slightly flushed cheeks, beaming brightly. “Sisters, I’m in love!”
“Ah, another one already?” Li Nuonuo said, surprise and a hint of envy in her voice.
Bai Zhi waved her hand frantically. “No, no! It’s still the same one!”
Qin Yue chimed in indifferently, “Oh, I know this one. Still that nameless one-sided crush?” She was already numb to Bai Zhi’s romantic exploits.
“No way! I know her name now!” Bai Zhi stood with her hands on her hips, pouting at Qin Yue, then her face lit up with a dreamy expression. “Her name is so pretty! Su… Yao…”
Bai Zhi’s sugary voice sent goosebumps down Qin Yue’s spine. Suddenly realizing something was off, she asked, “Su Yao? Isn’t that Sister Jixiao’s secretary?”
“Oh, you know her?” Bai Zhi suddenly remembered the bag in her hand. “Oh, silly me! Of course you know her! She delivered this for you!” She handed the bag to Qin Yue, blurting out the words without thinking.
“Could you help me ask…”
Bai Zhi stopped mid-sentence, covering her mouth in horror.
Qin Yue had already rejected Ling Jixiao’s confession and said she wouldn’t meet with her again. Just now, Bai Zhi had almost asked Qin Yue to help her find out Su Yao’s whereabouts from Ling Jixiao—wasn’t that practically stabbing Qin Yue in the heart?
Qin Yue smiled, understanding Bai Zhi’s meaning. She didn’t answer directly, just said calmly, “Hurry up and take a shower. Lights out soon!”
“Right, okay!” Bai Zhi nodded quickly.
Ling Jixiao had been incredibly busy lately.
The group had secured a project with a major international company, a crucial opportunity that could open up a new market for Minghui in that country.
However, the project manager had been extremely demanding. For days, Ling Jixiao had led her team in a relentless flurry of activity, all to ensure a smooth signing.
After more than two weeks of intense work, the other party finally expressed satisfaction. The two sides happily signed the contract.
With the project secured, Minghui Group had taken another step forward. Ling Jixiao was overjoyed.
After so long apart, Ling Jixiao suddenly realized that her feelings for Qin Yue were nothing but pure longing.
Especially that day when she was struggling in the cold water, and Qin Yue had fearlessly jumped in to save her.
The water had been bitterly cold, but Qin Yue’s hands had been immeasurably warm.
Ling Jixiao had once dismissed romantic feelings, even recoiling from them due to past trauma. But as she faced Qin Yue again and again, she suddenly discovered that a vine called longing had quietly taken root, slowly but surely entwining itself around her heart.
She missed Qin Yue.
So, while she was abroad, she spent a long time carefully selecting a gift for Qin Yue.
She still didn’t want to give up. She still wanted to try, hoping to win Qin Yue’s heart.
After finishing this project, Ling Jixiao planned to take a few days off, and she figured she might as well visit Qin Yue.
So, as soon as she got off the plane, she didn’t even stop to rest. She got in a car, went home, changed into casual clothes, and drove to A University.
She wasn’t wearing a formal business suit, but rather casual clothes. Her long hair was tied up in a high ponytail, making her look not like someone in her thirties, but more like someone in their mid-twenties. As she walked through the campus of A University, many people looked at her, thinking she was a graduate student from A University’s graduate school.
It was already dusk, but Ling Jixiao didn’t disturb Qin Yue, choosing instead to wait patiently downstairs for her return.
Qin Yue had finished her regular classes and entered the review week. After the review week came the exam week, and once that was over, she could finally go home.
During this period, Ling Jingxi hadn’t been around much, perhaps because the exams were approaching and he needed to focus on getting good grades. Aside from the occasional overwhelming study sessions in the library, Qin Yue’s days had been relatively uneventful.
Yet, during her free moments, Qin Yue would find herself unexpectedly thinking of Ling Jixiao, stirring slight ripples in her heart.
As she returned to the dormitory after dinner with Bai Zhi and Li Nuonuo, she spotted a tall, familiar figure waiting downstairs.
Amidst the crowd of students, Qin Yue immediately recognized Ling Jixiao. Her elegant and refined aura was unmistakable, even in casual attire, making it hard to look away.
Ling Jixiao also spotted Qin Yue in the crowd. From a distance, she flashed a radiant smile, as dazzling as a blooming garden, catching the attention of several Omegas nearby.
Bai Zhi and Li Nuonuo also noticed Ling Jixiao, especially Li Nuonuo, who froze the moment she saw her.
Ling Jixiao strode toward Qin Yue and stopped three steps away.
“Qin Yue,” she said, her voice as clear and refreshing as summer stream water.
Qin Yue pursed her lips, wondering why Ling Jixiao had suddenly appeared. Wasn’t she supposed to be on a business trip?
Bai Zhi immediately recognized the handsome Alpha as “Sister Jixiao,” the person Qin Yue had mentioned. She quickly pulled Li Nuonuo aside and said they needed to head back to the dormitory.
After Bai Zhi and Li Nuonuo left, Qin Yue felt lost.
Though she harbored suspicions about Ling Jixiao and was determined to find evidence proving she had nothing to do with the Mint-Scented Woman, she had no leads whatsoever.
Especially now, facing Ling Jixiao directly, Qin Yue felt uneasy.
Well, of course she felt uneasy, she thought. After all, Ling Jixiao confessed her feelings to me, and I rejected her.
Yet Qin Yue was captivated by the unique tenderness Ling Jixiao showed only to her. Still, she knew she needed to remain rational.
Ling Jixiao had been through countless social situations, yet she felt no awkwardness. Instead, she smiled warmly at Qin Yue, her gaze softening with affection.
She realized she must be developing feelings for Qin Yue.
“Um, what brings you here?” Qin Yue asked softly, averting her gaze, feeling flustered under Ling Jixiao’s intense gaze.
“A gift.” Ling Jixiao lifted her hand and offered the carefully selected present to Qin Yue.
The gift’s lavish packaging alone suggested its high cost. Qin Yue quickly shook her head, refusing.
“You’re my savior,” Ling Jixiao said, raising an eyebrow with a serious expression. “It’s only right for me to buy you a thank-you gift. Besides, it’s customary to bring back souvenirs for friends after a trip.”
Qin Yue stared at the bag covered in incomprehensible English letters, finding herself at a loss for words.
Ling Jixiao chuckled and pressed the gift into Qin Yue’s hands. “Do you have a moment?”
“No.” Qin Yue realized she’d answered too hastily and quickly explained, “I have an exam coming up, so I need to study.”
“Alright then.” Ling Jixiao sounded a bit disappointed, but she understood. “The exam comes first.”
“Um, then I’ll take you home,” Qin Yue said, thinking that since Ling Jixiao had come all this way, it wouldn’t be polite to just send her away.
“Okay,” Ling Jixiao replied softly.
The two walked in silence for a while.
Qin Yue’s mind raced, trying to find something to say to ease the awkwardness. She remembered what Bai Zhi had said about being interested in Su Yao, and ventured to ask, “Um, Sister Jixiao, aren’t you supposed to be at work?”
“I just finished up and can relax for a few days,” Ling Jixiao answered in her usual gentle tone.
“Then… does your secretary get time off too?” Qin Yue pressed.
Ling Jixiao paused, her heart skipping a beat. She turned to look at Qin Yue suspiciously. “Is something wrong?”
Qin Yue rubbed her nose awkwardly, hesitating before replying. “A friend of mine seems to have a crush on Secretary Su, and I wanted to ask about her plans these next few days.”
Ling Jixiao’s tension eased. For a moment, she’d thought Qin Yue was the one interested in Su Yao.
“I see. Well, she does have time off, and she’s currently following her family’s wishes to go on a blind date,” Ling Jixiao said with a soft chuckle.
“Huh?” Qin Yue turned around in surprise, looking at Ling Jixiao.
Ling Jixiao cleared her throat and, without a hint of guilt, revealed the time and place of Su Yao’s blind date.
Upon hearing this, Qin Yue quickly pulled out her phone and lowered her head to text Bai Zhi the information!
Bai Zhi immediately replied with a shocked face emoji.
As they reached the parking lot, Ling Jixiao patted Qin Yue’s head, reluctant to let go. “Go study quickly.”
“Right, right.” Qin Yue watched the car drive away, then raised her hand to rub her reddened ears.
Back in the dormitory, Bai Zhi grabbed Qin Yue and shook her wildly. “Sister, is what you said true?! Aaaaaah!”
