After Transmigrating Into A Novel, Not Only Did I Become An Omega, But I Also Provoked The Male Lead’s Mother - Chapter 3
The minimalist office, though dominated by monochromatic black, gray, and white, exuded a sense of grandeur and sophistication through its impeccable design.
Floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the space with natural light, offering a panoramic view of the bustling cityscape below. As dusk settled in, the streetlights twinkled like stars in the Milky Way, creating a dazzling spectacle.
Beside the expansive desk, a woman sat with her long hair cascading loosely over her shoulders. With gold-rimmed glasses perched on her nose and an elegant fountain pen in hand, she meticulously reviewed documents.
The sunlight gently caressed her figure, lending an air of dignified elegance.
Amidst the neatly stacked files lay two crumpled hundred-yuan bills, starkly out of place in this refined environment.
A knock sounded at the door. “Come in,” the woman’s cool voice commanded.
Su Yao, the secretary, entered carrying several documents. “CEO Ling, I’ve found the information you requested,” she said, placing the files on Ling Jixiao’s desk. Her gaze inadvertently fell on the two crumpled bills, and she struggled to suppress a chuckle.
Ling Jixiao set down her pen and gave Su Yao a measured glance, signaling her to proceed with the report.
Suppressing her amusement, Su Yao cleared her throat and composed her expression before delivering a concise summary of the situation.
Ling Jixiao nodded, handed her a stack of reports, and asked her to arrange for printing and notify everyone about the meeting.
After Su Yao left, Ling Jixiao tapped her fingers on the desk, lost in thought. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed two hundred-yuan bills on the desk and reached out to open the documents Su Yao had brought.
These were Qin Yue’s files, confirming that Qin Yue’s presence in her life had been a coincidence, not a planned scheme.
As for the person who had drugged her to induce her into heat, that had also been identified: an Omega host at the S.S Club. He seemed to be looking for a wealthy patron and, after some reconnaissance, had set his sights on the beautiful and wealthy Ling Jixiao.
That day, Ling Jixiao had been discussing business with a lecherous partner who had repeatedly insisted on meeting at the S.S Club.
Although the Ling family held shares in the S.S Club, Ling Jixiao disliked such chaotic environments saturated with pheromones. If not for the fact that the partner was an elder family acquaintance, she would never have agreed to go.
The male client assumed everyone who came to the club was there for the girls. Since he was looking for a sugar daddy, he figured he’d pick the prettiest girl. He tried to seduce Ling Jixiao several times, but she didn’t take the bait. He then planned to use aphrodisiacs to get her into bed and milk her for favors, but he hadn’t realized he’d kicked a rock.
At first, Ling Jixiao thought her rival was trying to sabotage her, but then she realized no rival would resort to such a despicable tactic. In short, she hated the overwhelming, chaotic pheromone stench and gritted her teeth, enduring it until she could escape.
To her surprise, when she fled, she stumbled upon a Little Peach.
The peach’s fragrance was refreshing, carrying the fruit’s unique sweetness without being cloying. Moreover, Ling Jixiao had loved juicy peaches since childhood—a secret no one knew.
Remembering how she’d been drugged into heat, Ling Jixiao scoffed. How dare they try to manipulate her? How brazen.
As for Qin Yue…
She glanced at Qin Yue’s photo in the file, and it felt like she was transported back to that night. The sweet, peachy taste flooded her mouth once more.
That morning, she’d gone to take a shower. When she returned, the bed was empty. If not for the rumpled sheets, Ling Jixiao might have thought it had all been a beautiful dream.
Just as she was leaving, Su Yao noticed two crumpled hundred-yuan bills on the bedside table. Ling Jixiao finally understood Qin Yue’s meaning, and her face darkened.
Me, a CEO of Minghui Group, treated like a prostitute and only worth two hundred yuan?!
Am I that cheap?!
Wait, why was I even treated like a prostitute…?
No, that’s not right!
Ling Jixiao couldn’t pinpoint what exactly angered her. Everything about the situation made her seethe with indignation, yet she didn’t know where to direct her fury. Feeling utterly frustrated, she left with a stormy expression.
Forget it. I, a CEO, won’t stoop to arguing with some twenty-something Omega. She tossed Qin Yue’s file and the two hundred-yuan bills into the bottom drawer, shoved the matter to the back of her mind, and walked out of her office toward the conference room, a stack of documents in hand.
Su Yao hurried after her. “CEO Ling, Grandpa’s birthday is next month. You’ll need to return to the Old Residence.”
Ling Jixiao nodded slightly, acknowledging the reminder. “Go pick out a gift for me.”
“Understood,” Su Yao replied with a nod.
“Understood, CEO Ling,” Su Yao nodded.
Meanwhile, at A University, Young Master Ling Jingxi of the Ling family was watching three female Omegas chatting and carrying textbooks, his eyes tinged with a rosy hue as he focused on one of them.
“Senior Qin’s class just ended! Hurry up and ask her out for dinner!” one of his Alpha friends nudged him playfully.
“Yeah, yeah! You never know what might happen over dinner… wink,” another Alpha chimed in, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
“Alright, alright, stop teasing me. It’s not like anything’s even close to happening,” Ling Jingxi retorted, embarrassed but trying to maintain a cool facade.
His roommates erupted in teasing again.
“Young Master Ling, you’re handsome and a top student from A University! How could Senior Qin not be interested in you?”
“Exactly! You’re rich and good-looking—any Omega would throw themselves at you!”
“True! You’ve been sending her gifts for ages. She’s probably secretly crushing on you already! Omegas are just so good at playing hard-to-get. We Alphas have to take the initiative!”
For some time, Ling Jingxi had been secretly sending Qin Yue expensive gifts through intermediaries. He wasn’t short on money, and the gifts were all exquisite and valuable, but Qin Yue either refused them or returned them.
Now bolstered by his roommates’ flattery, Ling Jingxi straightened his clothes and walked over confidently.
Qin Yue was returning to the dormitory with two roommates when someone blocked her path. When she looked up and recognized the man, she instinctively flinched back in fear, but her arm was held by her roommate, preventing her retreat.
“Can I help you?” Bai Zhi, Qin Yue’s current roommate and good friend, asked.
Ling Jingxi gave a shy smile and asked if he could take Qin Yue out for dinner.
Qin Yue’s other roommate, Li Nuonuo, glanced between Ling Jingxi and Qin Yue, a sly smile spreading across her face as she seemed to understand the situation. She nudged Qin Yue with her shoulder, subtly urging her to accept this romantic overture.
Bai Zhi, however, didn’t share Li Nuonuo’s love for stirring up drama. Instead, she noticed Qin Yue’s stiff posture and reluctance.
“My apologies, classmate,” Bai Zhi said, feigning hesitation. “We have plans later.”
Li Nuonuo instinctively wanted to protest, but sensing it wasn’t the right moment, she held her tongue.
Qin Yue shot Bai Zhi a grateful glance.
“It’s okay. If not today, then tomorrow, or any other day when you’re free!” Ling Jingxi said, looking at Qin Yue with anticipation.
He acted like a young man who was just beginning to fall in love, shy and awkward, making it hard to refuse him.
But Qin Yue knew his true nature. Afraid that Ling Jingxi would hold a grudge against Bai Zhi, she quickly stopped her from saying more.
“Junior Brother, I’m sorry, but I’m working part-time during all my free time, so I really don’t have any time. Besides, those gifts are too expensive. I can’t accept them, so please don’t send any more. I have things to do, so I’ll be leaving now.” Qin Yue said politely, pulling her two roommates away.
After they left, a fierce glint flashed in Ling Jingxi’s eyes before quickly returning to his usual warm and friendly expression.
“Hey, did you get the date?” Ling Jingxi’s roommate asked.
Ling Jingxi forced a bitter smile. “Senior Qin is a bit busy.”
“Ah, it’s okay. Maybe Senior Qin really does have things to do,” another roommate consoled him.
“Then… does Senior dislike Alphas younger than her?” Ling Jingxi asked, putting on a sorrowful expression. He looked like a melancholy young man, his handsome face making others feel sorry for him.
Another roommate quickly replied, “No, she doesn’t! There’s an old saying: ‘Third-year O students get golden bricks!'”
“Don’t worry too much. You’re so talented!”
Ling Jingxi replied, touched, “Thank you all!”
The roommates said it was no problem.
After comforting Ling Jingxi, one of them mentioned that there were still more than two weeks left until the mid-term exams. They wondered how difficult they would be and if anyone would fail, and the conversation turned to that topic.
When Ling Jingxi heard about the exams, his expression twisted and panicked for a moment before quickly recovering.
Meanwhile, on the way back, Li Nuonuo was amazed.
“So he was the one who sent the gift! What a handsome Alpha!” Li Nuonuo sighed.
“Qin Yue, you should just accept A’s proposal! He’s both handsome and rich!” Li Nuonuo said enviously.
“Nuonuo, stop teasing. Can’t you see Qin Yue doesn’t like him?” Bai Zhi observed perceptively.
“Once you’re in college, you should experience romance—it’s what makes youth memorable! Who knows? You might grow to like him after spending time together!” Li Nuonuo dismissed Qin Yue’s reluctance. “Even if you don’t develop feelings, just looking at his face is enough to make you hungry!”
The thought of eating while looking at Ling Jingxi’s face made Qin Yue shudder involuntarily, her skin prickling with goosebumps. She was certain she’d lose her appetite entirely.
Bai Zhi ignored Li Nuonuo, noticing that Qin Yue’s feelings toward Ling Jingxi went beyond mere dislike; there was a faint hint of repulsion. Sensing this, she tactfully changed the subject.
Li Nuonuo, ever the optimist, quickly forgot about Ling Jingxi and moved on to other topics.
Meanwhile, Ling Jixiao immediately contacted the school to obtain Ling Jingxi’s grades.
“What is it?” Ling Jixiao asked, not even looking up.
“The Young Master’s grades have slipped,” Su Yao said.
Ling Jixiao didn’t pause typing. “Investigate what he’s been up to lately.”
For his grades to be described as “slipped” meant the decline was significant. As the heir to the Ling family, academic excellence was paramount, especially given Grandpa’s particularly high standards for academic performance.
Su Yao nodded and left.
The next day, after completing her investigation, Su Yao hesitated before Ling Jixiao’s desk.
Ling Jixiao found Su Yao’s hesitation amusing. “What is it?”
Su Yao didn’t know how to respond. “CEO Ling, you’d better see this for yourself.” She placed the documents on the desk.
Ling Jixiao opened the files and immediately saw Ling Jingxi’s recent activities.
Ling Jixiao initially felt nothing about it. After all, young men and women starting university often experience their first stirrings of romantic interest.
Her gaze shifted downward, and her fingertip landed on a name that was both familiar and unfamiliar. Ling Jixiao raised her eyebrows in surprise.
Qin Yue…
It was the very same Omega Ling Jingxi had been pursuing.
