After Transmigrating into a Male-Centric Novel, the Female Lead and I Got a Happy Ending - Chapter 2
As Qin Yu’s voice faded away, the sound of people sharply catching their breath echoed all around.
“Did I hear that wrong? Is she actually challenging Qin Yu? That is someone even Qin Huan could not beat!”
“Has Junior Sister Xiaoyu gone mad? That is Yu Qingya!”
“Xiaoyu, stop messing around, get back down here. That is not a place for you to go.”
Even Qin Yu’s father, Qin Yuanshan, who usually doted on her, was now blowing his beard and staring with wide eyes, as if she had just committed an unforgivable crime.
Knowing that her father was worried she was acting out of impulse because her elder sister had lost her match, Qin Yu simply flashed a sweet, bright smile. “Father, it is just a sparring match. Your daughter knows her limits.”
Though he recalled Qin Yu’s usual reckless behavior, seeing her calm demeanor at this moment somehow set Qin Yuanshan’s mind at ease. He nodded toward her.
Qin Yu turned around and looked at the referee. “May my challenge begin now?”
The referee finally snapped out of his daze. Strange things happened every year, but this year had plenty of them. However, none of that was his concern. He cleared his throat. “The next match: Qin Yu of the Ancient Tree Sect versus Yu Qingya of the Qinglian Pavilion.”
Just as the words left his mouth, Yu Qingya saw Qin Yu giving her a slight bow. Looking at the other girl’s youthful face and height, half a head shorter than her own, she thought to herself: Is this what they call a newborn calf not fearing the tiger? If I remember correctly, isn’t she three whole years younger than me? And yet she is so bold! On the path of cultivation, it was common knowledge that the younger one was, the more weight was placed on innate talent.
After all, in the rest of life’s journey, one would encounter all sorts of opportunities, which was also the reason why cultivation levels differed later on.
“Senior Sister Qingya?”
Yu Qingya’s train of thought was interrupted by a sweet voice, and she saw Qin Yu looking at her in confusion.
Yu Qingya coughed twice to cover it up. “How about this, to be fair: if you can last five rounds under my attacks, I will call it your win. How does that sound?”
After all, even Qin Huan could not defeat her; if she went all out, it would feel a bit like bullying.
Hearing this, Qin Yu let out a sigh of relief inwardly. After all, she was not entirely confident in a match against Yu Qingya, but thinking of the events that would happen in the future, she had no choice but to challenge her.
She then cupped her fists. “Please enlighten me, Senior Sister Qingya.”
Yu Qingya’s gaze suddenly shifted, and she raised her sword with a delicate hand. “Then watch closely.”
A fierce gale of sword qi rushed toward them. Qin Yu’s smiling lips tightened into a firm line, filled with absolute seriousness.
As expected of Yu Qingya; just like that, the sheer momentum is enough to make it hard to breathe.
Still, this original body of hers was also one of the top geniuses in the Cultivation Mainland; she would not be defeated so easily.
Qin Yu gently closed her eyes, bringing the index and middle fingers of her right hand together at the center of her forehead. The patterns on her forehead flashed rapidly before she suddenly opened her eyes, darting to the side and dodging Yu Qingya’s attack.
“Junior Sister Xiaoyu actually dodged Yu Qingya’s attack!”
“Anyone can see Yu Qingya was not using much strength. What is there to make a fuss about?”
“That is Yu Qingya we are talking about. If you went up there instead, you would probably have been knocked off by now.”
The voices from outside the ring varied, but they had all shifted from watching a joke to a serious attitude.
“Spiritual power? Truly unexpected,” Yu Qingya murmured softly.
After all, the Cultivation Mainland had always focused primarily on cultivating spiritual energy; those who could cultivate spiritual power could be counted on one hand.
Looking at Qin Yu, whose hem had been shaved off at the corner, yet still wore a smile, Yu Qingya’s gaze finally carried a hint of seriousness. She had underestimated this younger sister of Qin Huan.
Yu Qingya’s sword tip suddenly twisted, striking straight toward Qin Yu at an unimaginably fast speed.
“Father, Qingya is getting serious! Is Xiaoyu going to be in danger?”
Qin Huan knitted her brows slightly and anxiously tugged on Qin Yuanshan’s sleeve.
“Let it be. It is time this girl suffered a little hardship, to see if she dares to be this reckless in the future!”
Though Qin Yuanshan spoke indifferently, his gaze toward Qin Yu still carried a trace of anxiety.
Sword light flew across the arena, and Qin Yu was driven back step by step, nearly knocked out of the ring by a head-on blow.
Suddenly, Qin Yu pressed her right hand to her chest, turned her head, and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
“Xiaoyu!”
Qin Huan cried out and stood up, her face full of anxiety, only to be pulled back by Qin Yuanshan.
“Xiaoyu has not conceded yet.”
Qin Yuanshan’s expression revealed heartache and incomprehension. This willful daughter of his usually could not bear the hardships of cultivation; why was she so persistent now?
Yu Qingya’s airborne figure landed softly in front of Qin Yu, her eyes showing puzzlement. “You do not need to push yourself like this. You can concede.”
She could appreciate Qin Yu’s talent. She had to admit that compared to Qin Huan, Qin Yu’s talent was vastly superior, arguably even slightly surpassing her own. But at the same time, there was still a three-year gap in their cultivation levels.
Qin Yu smiled nonchalantly. “Is that all Senior Sister Qingya’s capability amounts to?”
Watching Qin Yu still talking big, Yu Qingya’s momentary trace of pity vanished completely. “Truly ungrateful.”
Qin Yu stumbled to her feet, ending up standing very close to Yu Qingya, so close she could even count Yu Qingya’s eyelashes.
She even leaned forward slightly, took a light sniff, and murmured, “So fragrant…”
Yu Qingya had never been this close to anyone before. She immediately shoved backward, frowning as she looked at Qin Yu. “Why are you getting so close?”
Seeing Yu Qingya looking as though she had been taken advantage of, Qin Yu could not help letting out a soft laugh. Why is she so cute? This is the ice-cold beauty of my dreams!
“What are you laughing at?” Yu Qingya’s brows furrowed even deeper.
“I just think Senior Sister Qingya possesses such icy skin and jade bone, with a natural body fragrance, that she is truly hauntingly mesmerizing.”
Qin Yu walked toward Yu Qingya step by step, staring straight into her eyes, and even leaned in to sniff again like a dissolute rake.
The disciples of the Ancient Tree Sect could not help covering their faces. Why is Junior Sister Xiaoyu still so unrestrained with her words?!
A pretty-looking female disciple saw Yu Qingya’s expression instantly turn icy cold, and quickly covered her eyes. “I just hope Yu Qingya does not make Junior Sister Xiaoyu bleed all over the arena.”
“You!”
Yu Qingya had never heard anyone dare speak such explicit words to her so boldly. After all, although she was blessed with good looks, she possessed formidable strength and maintained a cold demeanor year-round. Who would ever dare to openly flirt with her like this?
Yu Qingya was just about to counterattack when she saw Qin Yu, who should have been keeping her head down, suddenly look up. Noticing that the other girl’s pupils had suddenly turned golden, she froze for a split second.
Seizing the opportunity, Qin Yu quickly drew a white jade flute, slashed the palm of her hand, pressed it against the flute holes, and brought it to her lips. A gentle ripple of flute music flowed out.
Yu Qingya, who had just snapped back to awareness, lapsed into a daze once again, her eyes even carrying a hint of confusion.
Seizing the opening, Qin Yu rapidly raised her hand to attack.
Yu Qingya snapped back to her senses instantly. Seeing the attack carrying massive energy fluctuations, she tried to raise her hand to defend, but found that the opponent’s speed was simply too fast, as it was already too late.
The attack came rushing forward. Despite managing a hasty defense, Yu Qingya was still blasted several meters away.
Just as she was about to speak, she heard a weary voice echo across the arena: “I concede the match, Senior Sister Qingya.”
Lowering her head, Yu Qingya discovered that she had just been blasted outside the boundaries of the sparring ring.
Yu Qingya felt a shock in her heart. Although she had previously been astonished by the other girl’s talent, what truly shocked her was how Qin Yu had instantly switched from a spiritual power attack to spiritual energy, leaving her completely defenseless.
Being able to switch dual abilities so rapidly was something only a handful of people in the entire Cultivation Mainland could achieve, let alone someone with merely late Golden Core cultivation.
Thinking of Qin Yu’s out-of-line words from moments before, Yu Qingya unusually felt a trace of complex emotion in her heart. “Were you deliberately trying to provoke me earlier?”
Even if Yu Qingya were a fool, she would have known that Qin Yu’s flirtatious remarks were intentional. She could only say that the other girl possessed keen insight into human psychology, possessing a reckless charm akin to wild punches beating an experienced master.
Hearing Yu Qingya’s question, and knowing how arrogant the latter naturally was, Qin Yu wanted to explain that she had not meant it that way. But before the words could leave her lips, the world began to spin, and she lost consciousness.
That was the aftereffect of overdrawing her physical strength following her strongest attack just moments ago.
“Xiaoyu!”
Qin Huan anxiously flew into the arena, only to find that Yu Qingya had already swiftly caught Qin Yu and pulled her into her arms.
With a calm expression, Yu Qingya looked down at the unconscious Qin Yu, a strange ripple stirring in her heart. She had remembered this person.
She had remembered someone with immense talent who had also defeated her.
“Yu Qingya, just how long are you planning to hold my sister?”
Watching Yu Qingya continuously gaze at Qin Yu, Qin Huan finally could not help speaking up. For some reason, she felt a strange vibe passing between the two of them.
Only then did Yu Qingya snap out of it. Releasing Qin Yu and watching Qin Huan carry her away, she still could not help opening her mouth. “Your sister has high talent; you should still urge her to cultivate properly.”
Qin Huan was somewhat surprised. Having been rivals with Yu Qingya for so many years, she had never seen her care about anyone else.
“This match: the Ancient Tree Sect wins!”
Cheers instantly erupted from one corner of the arena. This was their very first time winning first place!
Yu Qingya walked calmly back into the arena, where the female disciples of the Qinglian Pavilion did not even dare to breathe loudly.
At that moment, a vibrant-looking female cultivator ran up to Yu Qingya. “Eldest Senior Sister, it is all the fault of that Qin Yu from the Ancient Tree Sect for using underhanded tricks and offending you! Otherwise, would someone like her even dare to challenge you?”
“Shuming, victory and defeat are common matters in battle. Winning was naturally her own ability; do not speak such words again in the future.”
Yu Qingya frowned for once, her eyes showing displeasure.
Shuming’s face twisted for a moment before she unwillingly replied, “Understood, Eldest Senior Sister.”
Qin Yu had already woken up in the middle of the night. Looking at the soul jade sitting on the table, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
It seemed her efforts had not been in vain. The most urgent task now was to destroy this item that had ruined Yu Qingya’s entire life.
For some inexplicable reason, unable to stop her mind from replaying the events of the day, Yu Qingya could not fall asleep and ended up wandering out into the backyard.
This was the backyard specifically arranged by the sect assembly for the various sects to stay in, and the courtyards were all interconnected. To her surprise, she spotted a lone figure.
Just as Qin Yu was burying the soul jade, she heard a voice come from behind her.
“Since it is something, you expended so much effort to obtain, why destroy it?”
