After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 7
Song Qingyi went out late at night, and Chu Ling didn’t think much of it. She figured Song Qingyi might have something to attend to, and even if she didn’t, it wasn’t any of her business. After all, their marriage was just a contractual arrangement, it wouldn’t be good to interfere too much.
With that in mind, Chu Ling found herself inexplicably opening the Little Notes app and scrolling to Song Qingyi’s account. She began eagerly watching her videos from the very first one.
Sniffle, No matter how many times she watched, her sister was always the most beautiful!
Song Qingyi’s video styles were incredibly varied, as if she could effortlessly pull off any look. In one video, she wore a bold, glamorous Western-style makeup, and when she casually glanced at the camera, Chu Ling was instantly captivated by that gaze.
How could someone switch so seamlessly between an ethereal, fairy-like aura and a striking, aggressive charm?
Chu Ling’s heart pounded with excitement, completely enthralled.
The thought that the blogger sister herself had just been right in front of her made Chu Ling even more exhilarated. She was so worked up that she couldn’t sleep, and it wasn’t until past midnight that she finally calmed down a little. Since she had to go out the next day, Chu Ling reluctantly put down her phone and tried to fall asleep.
Perhaps because of the change in environment, Chu Ling struggled with insomnia, tossing and turning until who-knows-what hour before finally drifting off. By the time she fell asleep, it must have been very late.
When she woke up the next morning, Chu Ling realized Song Qingyi hadn’t come home all night.
After a moment’s thought, she opened their chat and sent a polite, concerned message.
[Take care of yourself!]
There was no reply, Song Qingyi was probably still busy. Chu Ling scratched her cheek, set her phone aside, and started getting ready.
Since she planned to explore today, Chu Ling opted for a casual, comfortable outfit: a simple T-shirt and shorts, her hair tied up in a high ponytail, sneakers on her feet, and her camera slung over her shoulder.
By the time she finished, it was around ten in the morning, and the sun was already blazing. Chu Ling muttered under her breath about how hot it was, resigned to her fate as someone who never carried an umbrella, and began her sun-avoiding maneuvers.
What she didn’t expect, however, was that Song Qingyi, upon receiving her message, fell silent as she stared at those few simple words of concern.
She had thought… that staying out all night might warrant a little more attention, even just a question about why she hadn’t returned. But it seemed she had overestimated things.
Song Qingyi couldn’t sit still any longer. She abruptly stood up, ready to leave.
“Qingyi? Are you leaving already?”
The voice from behind made Song Qingyi pause. She turned to see the girl who had spoken, wiping her hands as she walked over, her expression one of surprise.
Song Qingyi hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly. “Yes, I have something to take care of. Let’s catch up next time, A-Yin.”
Ye Zhiyin studied her for a moment, then grinned slyly. “Qingyi, I’ve noticed you’ve been acting a little… off lately.”
She leaned lazily against the counter, propping her chin on one hand, her big eyes brimming with curiosity.
“Don’t tell me, you’ve got something going on?”
Song Qingyi’s expression remained unchanged as she shot her a sidelong glance. “A-Yin, stop prying. More importantly, I heard you’re interning at Qin Corporation? Is that confirmed?”
Ye Zhiyin’s gossipy enthusiasm instantly deflated. She pouted. “Hmph, I am interning at Qin Corporation. The more my mom objects, the more determined I am to go.”
Then, as if suddenly realizing something, she wrinkled her nose like a suspicious little animal. “Wait a minute, did my mom talk to you? Qingyi, are you here to persuade me on her behalf?”
Ye Zhiyin immediately covered her ears, “I won’t listen, and you don’t say it either. I don’t want to hear anything.”
Song Qingyi raised an eyebrow slightly, “Why would you think I’m here to persuade you? Go if you want to. I wasn’t planning to talk you out of it.”
Ye Zhiyin instantly brightened up again, “I knew you wouldn’t nag like my mom, Qingyi.” She clenched her fist, “Besides, I’m only going to the Qin Corporation for experience! Staying in my family’s business would be too awkward, so I might as well join another company. And since the Qin Corporation has business ties with my family, I think it’s the best choice!”
Song Qingyi neither agreed nor disagreed. What Ye Zhiyin truly thought was probably known only to herself.
“Well then, I wish you smooth sailing. I have something to attend to, so I’ll take my leave. Let’s meet up again next time.”
Ye Zhiyin stood up and waved cheerfully, “Alright, see you. Next time we meet, bring that person along, okay?”
Hearing this, Song Qingyi paused mid-step, her eyes flickering with a hint of melancholy.
“We’ll see.”
As she uttered these words, the door closed behind her, just a second later and Ye Zhiyin wouldn’t have heard it.
But Ye Zhiyin’s eyes sparkled with excitement because Song Qingyi hadn’t objected so she really was seeing someone!
Actually, last night, feeling down, Ye Zhiyin had gone through her list of friends and realized only Song Qingyi had the patience to listen to her ramblings. But Song Qingyi was notoriously hard to pin down, so she had sent her a message on a whim, never expecting an immediate agreement.
They met at a quiet bar and sat for a while. As it grew late, Song Qingyi still hadn’t mentioned going home, which struck Ye Zhiyin as unusual.
What really tipped her off was how Song Qingyi kept glancing at her phone as if waiting for a message from someone.
Ye Zhiyin felt like she had discovered a new continent and eagerly prodded her for answers, but clearly, she got nothing. Song Qingyi guarded her secrets well.
With her curiosity unsatisfied, Ye Zhiyin’s enthusiasm gradually waned. They exchanged occasional words, and before they knew it, dawn was approaching.
When she realized Song Qingyi still showed no intention of leaving, Ye Zhiyin reluctantly took her home. But even then, Song Qingyi didn’t sleep. It wasn’t until just now that she seemed to have finally received the message she was waiting for and hurriedly excused herself to go home.
Once the excitement faded, Ye Zhiyin yawned repeatedly, feeling somewhat dazed. She remembered that initially, she had been the one seeking comfort, yet somehow, she ended up staying up all night with Song Qingyi instead.
Her stomach was full of nothing but liquids the entire night, and now she was both exhausted and starving.
Whatever. Sleep first, think later.
With that, Miss Ye pushed all thoughts aside, returned to her bedroom, and collapsed into bed.
Meanwhile, back at home, Song Qingyi didn’t find the person she had hoped to see. The apartment was empty. A glance at the shoe rack confirmed that Chu Ling’s outdoor shoes were missing, she must have gone out.
Song Qingyi stood silently for a moment, suddenly deflated. But she didn’t want to linger in this lifeless space for long. After freshening up, she headed out again.
Chu Ling was unaware of all this. She had just arrived at the meeting spot with Qiu Shuang. They had agreed to meet at Park Coffee, and Chu Ling, arriving early, ordered a cup and sipped while waiting.
By the time she had finished half her coffee, Qiu Shuang finally showed up fashionably late.
Autumn Frost’s outfit was as adorable as ever, but that cuteness took a sharp nosedive the moment she opened her mouth.
“Oh! My dear Beibei! Finally, I get to see you~”
Chu Ling: “…”
She raised a hand to block the other’s enthusiastic advance and said helplessly, “Alright, tone it down. And you’re late again, Shuangshuang.”
Autumn Frost flipped her long hair and sat down with exaggerated grace. “That’s because I had to look my best to meet my dear Beibei! Unlike you, my god, how could you go out looking like this? This is downright disrespectful!”
Chu Ling gave a fake smile. “Please, the fact that I showed up in clean clothes is already a miracle. Stop the act or I’m leaving.”
Autumn Frost immediately straightened up, her theatrical expression shifting to one of indignation. “How could you? You’re not the Beibei I love anymore. As expected, new flames make you forget old flames… Fine, I’ll stop. Don’t you want to hear about my trashy boss?”
She swiftly changed the subject.
Chu Ling gave her a once-over. “So you dressed up just to come here and rant about your terrible boss?”
Autumn Frost declared solemnly, “That’s also a form of respect!”
Chu Ling didn’t quite get it, but she decided to humor her. For the next two hours, she listened as Autumn Frost tore into her former boss without repeating a single complaint.
Chu Ling’s role was to chime in with supportive phrases like, “Wow, how awful!” “You poor thing.” “Yeah, she’s the worst.” Finally, Autumn Frost concluded with a triumphant flourish.
“So I’m telling you, if I ever see my boss again, I’m gonna rip her head off and use it as a seat cushion!”
Seeing her smug expression, Chu Ling’s eyelid twitched, she had a bad feeling about this.
And for good reason. She suddenly noticed a woman sitting diagonally across from them who seemed to have been watching them the whole time. The deeper Autumn Frost’s rant went, the wider the woman’s smile grew but it was the kind of smile that sent chills down your spine.
Just as Autumn Frost finished her tirade, the woman stood up and walked over.
Chu Ling’s expression turned awkward. She sensed disaster looming and desperately wanted to warn Autumn Frost, but the girl had zero situational awareness and no telepathic connection with her whatsoever.
Weakly, Chu Ling offered the woman a strained smile before turning a sympathetic gaze toward Autumn Frost.
“Go in peace. I’ll miss you.”
Autumn Frost was baffled. “What are you talking about?”
What happened next felt like a slow-motion scene from a movie. Autumn Frost turned her head upon sensing someone nearby, her expression freezing before morphing into sheer terror.
Chu Ling broke into a cold sweat for her. Getting caught badmouthing someone in person? Just imagining it was enough to make her toes curl.
Autumn Frost’s triumphant aura instantly deflated. “Fang Manwen?! What are you doing here? Wait, you were eavesdropping! How could you?!”
Chu Ling was impressed. Who knew Autumn Frost had the audacity to play the victim first?
Too bad her boss wasn’t having any of it. Arms crossed, the woman smirked coldly.
“I’m sure your mother would love to hear all about your little escapades. What do you think will happen if I tell her you skipped work?”
She looked down at Qiu Shuang with a hint of mockery flashing in her eyes behind the silver-rimmed glasses. The corners of her lips gradually curled up as she spoke leisurely with a cold smile, “I suppose the young miss will have her allowance confiscated? Ah! I remember you were kicked out by your mother. If even your allowance gets taken away, how will you survive? I’m quite curious.”
Qiu Shuang’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How old are you to still be tattling like this?! What does this have to do with my mom? Clearly, you’re the one being unreasonable! And I’ve already resigned!”
Fang Manwen let out a cold laugh. “Resignation denied, I never approved it. Since your mother entrusted you to my guidance, I’ll take full responsibility. If a junior under my care misbehaves, of course I’ll inform their parents. This is a notice, not tattling. Also, allow me to remind you, today is Friday, and you’re absent without leave.”
Qiu Shuang: “…”
Chu Ling: “…”
So terrifying. This woman’s presence is overwhelming, no wonder Qiu Shuang’s mother specifically chose her.
Chu Ling knew just how difficult this young miss could be. Perhaps only someone like Ms. Fang could suppress her rebellious streak.
The outcome was obvious. Qiu Shuang, though visibly seething with indignation, swallowed her anger and… returned to work.
Watching Qiu Shuang storm off, Fang Manwen nodded politely at Chu Ling.
Chu Ling smiled back, inwardly sweating for her friend.
Unexpectedly, the woman suddenly said, “Miss, could you turn around and see if the person outside is someone you know?”
Following Fang Manwen’s gesture, Chu Ling turned in confusion. Through the glass window, she immediately spotted Song Qingyi staring expressionlessly in their direction.
The moment their eyes met, Chu Ling froze.
Huh? Why is Song Qingyi here?
Wait, why does Song Qingyi’s expression somehow feel…
So much like catching someone in the act?!
