After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 6
How could someone be so mesmerizing?!
For a moment, this phrase dominated Chu Ling’s thoughts, leaving her dazed as she stared blankly at Song Qingyi.
She had to admit, she had truly been enchanted in that instant.
But the moment she remembered the purely cooperative relationship between them, Chu Ling snapped back to reality with a jolt. She reminded herself inwardly: Song Qingyi likes the female lead, Ye Zhiyin! Don’t fall for her! If you do, it’s a bottomless abyss ahead!
After repeating this mantra twice, her wildly pounding heart finally cooled slightly.
She quickly closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she had regained her composure.
It didn’t seem right for Song Qingyi to be lying there alone, so Chu Ling lay down as well, this time with complete calm. She even rolled around a bit, as if genuinely testing the quality of the bedding.
Free of distracting thoughts, Chu Ling took her task seriously. Once she had a good feel for it, she turned to share her feedback.
“I think it’s really nice, Song Qingyi!”
She turned to suggest they buy the two sets, but Song Qingyi suddenly sat up, her back now turned. Chu Ling couldn’t see her expression.
“Song Qingyi…?”
She called her name again.
Chu Ling scratched her head. Something felt off about Song Qingyi’s mood, but no matter how hard she thought, she couldn’t recall doing anything to upset her.
Just as the atmosphere grew tense, Song Qingyi spoke abruptly, “Let’s get these two sets.”
With that, she signaled to the nearby sales assistant to fetch two unopened sets.
The assistant wisely refrained from further comment and quickly retrieved the items.
In that brief time, Song Qingyi had reined in her emotions. By the time she turned back, her usual expression had returned.
“Let’s go. See if there’s anything else we need.”
Chu Ling studied Song Qingyi’s face carefully but found nothing unusual. Still, she couldn’t shake a faint unease. She couldn’t have misread it, Song Qingyi had seemed…
Angry.
Convinced it had something to do with her, Chu Ling grew hesitant to speak further. Song Qingyi wasn’t much of a talker either, so silence settled between them.
After returning home with their purchases, Chu Ling busied herself unpacking. Song Qingyi said nothing, only pausing slightly as she passed by before heading straight to her room.
Chu Ling’s tension eased the moment Song Qingyi left. Without her presence, the atmosphere felt much lighter. The earlier mood had been so stifling that she wouldn’t have lasted much longer.
But… why had Song Qingyi been angry?
Even after finishing the unpacking and washing and hanging the new bedding, Chu Ling still hadn’t figured it out.
Before retreating to her room, she glanced at the tightly shut door next to hers Song Qingyi’s room. The soundproofing was good; she heard nothing. Maybe Song Qingyi was already asleep.
After agonizing over it to no avail, Chu Ling couldn’t shake her concern and decided to turn to her friend Qiu Shuang for advice.
Qiushuang was truly a good friend of Chu Ling in the book, arguably the most unfortunate girl apart from Chu Ling’s family. Because of her close friendship with Chu Ling, after the incident, she even targeted the two female leads on behalf of her friend, and unsurprisingly, this girl also ended up on the blacklist. Though she didn’t suffer as terribly as Chu Ling’s family, her life wasn’t easy either. Later, upon learning of her friend’s death, the shock was so great that she fell seriously ill.
When Chu Ling read about it before, she hadn’t thought much of it. After all, Qiushuang in the book unconditionally stood by her friend’s side and did many things that ruined her reputation for Chu Ling’s sake perhaps due to her own personality as well. Most importantly, because they were on the opposing side of the female leads, such an outcome wasn’t hard to understand.
But now, Chu Ling didn’t see it that way anymore. Even though she knew Qiushuang was just a character in the book, a cannon fodder like herself, at least this girl genuinely considered her a friend. Back when Chu Ling had just arrived and was unwilling to go out, Qiushuang would call every few days to make sure she was still alive, worried she might have come to harm.
So when she needed someone to confide in, Chu Ling instinctively thought of her.
True to her reputation as an internet addict who never parted with her phone, Qiushuang replied instantly the moment Chu Ling sent her message.
[What’s up, my babe?]
After some deliberation, Chu Ling explained the whole situation to Qiushuang and ended with a troubled sigh, “So, do you think I should ask? Otherwise, it’s just gnawing at me. But we’re not that close, maybe it’s better to pretend nothing happened?”
However, there was no reply for a long time. Just as Chu Ling began to suspect Qiushuang had been abducted by aliens, a video call request suddenly popped up, startling her.
Chu Ling quickly answered, but before she could even see Qiushuang’s face, a scream assaulted her ears.
Though the room had decent soundproofing, Chu Ling guiltily turned down the volume.
“Calm down!” she urged.
After letting out another excited shriek, Qiushuang finally managed to compose herself slightly, her bright, intense gaze boring into Chu Ling through the screen.
“Did I hear you right, Chu Ling? You got married? To that blogger I recommended to you before??? What’s going on? Spill it now!”
The words tumbled out in one breath, and Chu Ling could practically feel the overwhelming gossipy energy radiating from her tone.
It made Chu Ling a little embarrassed.
“It’s just like I told you. So, Shuangshuang, don’t you think she’s a bit moody? I don’t think I said anything wrong, but Song Qingyi just suddenly gets upset for no reason. Ugh, do you think she just doesn’t want to talk to me at all?”
Qiushuang laughed unapologetically. “I think you’re overcomplicating things. If she didn’t want to talk to you, she could just ignore you, or not even live with you! My guess is she probably just thought of something that put her in a bad mood. Don’t flatter yourself, Chuchu! The way you’re acting now, how can you still claim you don’t have any special feelings for Song Qingyi?!”
Chu Ling had an epiphany. Why had she unconsciously overanalyzed things? It did seem a bit presumptuous. After all, she had already resolved not to interfere with Song Qingyi’s life whether she was in a good or bad mood shouldn’t be Chu Ling’s concern.
Chu Ling snapped to attention. “You’re right, Shuangshuang. I shouldn’t overthink it. We’ll probably get divorced soon anyway, what’s the point of dwelling on it?”
Autumn Frost immediately wore an expression that said, “You’re teachable after all.” “Exactly, why overthink it? Just treat it as fan service. The world is full of wonders, huh? When I first recommended her to you, I never imagined you’d actually cross paths in real life. Thinking about it now, I’m basically your matchmaker!”
She beamed with self-satisfaction. “Maybe I should start a matchmaking side hustle. With my intuition, any couple I set up would have to work out, right?!”
Chu Ling watched as her thoughts immediately veered off track and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Weren’t you a fan too, though?”
Chu Ling wondered after all, Autumn Frost had been the one to discover Song Qingyi first. Yet here she was, married to Song Qingyi. She worried Autumn Frost might feel a little sore about it.
To her surprise, Autumn Frost waved a hand dismissively, completely unbothered. “What’s the big deal? My sights are set on the entire forest! I can’t afford to linger on just one tree. Here, let me show you the new saplings I’ve discovered each one’s a potential gem.”
With that, she swiftly sent over several videos. Chu Ling clicked through them one by one before offering an honest assessment: “None of them hold a candle to Song Qingyi.”
Autumn Frost’s enthusiastic expression faltered. “Ugh, Chu Chu, that’s no way to live! You can’t just tie yourself to one tree. There are millions of women out there so many gorgeous sisters to admire!”
Though the logic was sound, Chu Ling couldn’t help but feel that none of them struck her as intensely as Song Qingyi had.
After all, the very first second she’d seen Song Qingyi in a video, she’d fallen head over heels without hesitation, instantly becoming a devoted fan of her looks.
She had to admit, she was shallow.
No one could resist Song Qingyi’s face!
So even though she verbally agreed with Autumn Frost, Song Qingyi’s place in her heart remained unchallenged.
Autumn Frost seemed to notice and pouted. “You’re doomed, Chu Ling. Be careful, or you’ll fall headfirst into love.”
At the mention of “love,” Chu Ling blurted out, “Impossible! Don’t worry, I know my limits. My love for her is purely fan love! Even if the sky fell, Song Qingyi’s face would hold it up, how could I not love that?”
Autumn Frost thought it over and clicked her tongue. “Okay, fair. Ugh, Chu Ling, you’re so lucky! When will I ever get to marry my favorite content creator? Even if it’s fake!”
Chu Ling delivered a sharp retort: “Then you’d be committing bigamy, considering how many favorites you have.”
Autumn Frost: “…Ugh, you’re the worst! Oh, rightmweren’t you planning to join that photography event recently? Figured out what to shoot yet? Wanna meet up tomorrow? Now that I think about it, it’s been a whole month since we last saw each other!”
Her expression was full of disbelief. Chu Ling laughed awkwardly. After transmigrating, she hadn’t adjusted well to her new identity and had mostly stayed home except for essential outings, turning down Autumn Frost’s invitations multiple times. Hearing this now, guilt instantly crept in.
So Chu Ling quickly cut her off. “Okay, okay, let’s meet tomorrow. Are you free? It’s Friday, right?”
Autumn Frost smirked. “Of course I’m free, I quit my job! No way I’d be busy. Screw that shitty boss, I’m done serving him!”
Chu Ling: “…You quit without a backup plan?”
But given Autumn Frost’s family circumstances, even an impulsive resignation wouldn’t affect her much.
Sure enough, Qiu Shuang didn’t mind at all, in fact, she seemed quite pleased. “Tomorrow, I’ll definitely have to vent to you about my shitty boss. I can’t believe it! Feels so good to be free now!”
Chu Ling laughed. “Alright then, we’ll talk more when we meet tomorrow.”
After ending the call with Qiu Shuang, Chu Ling felt a little lighter in her heart.
Her Dao heart had grown even firmer!
Just as she was thinking this, she heard some noise outside. Out of curiosity, Chu Ling opened the door and peeked out, only to see Song Qingyi adjusting her clothes as she stepped out of her room, clearly preparing to go out.
Song Qingyi seemed to sense something and glanced over, locking eyes with Chu Ling.
The other woman didn’t say anything, simply waiting. Seeing this, Chu Ling hesitated before offering, “Be careful out there.”
Song Qingyi gave her a deep look, then left in silence.
This time, Chu Ling didn’t overthink it. In fact, she felt rather good about herself, she had taken another step forward on the path to becoming the perfect collaborator!
